Congrats to all of you who were able to attend the Homecoming.  I watched online this morning...it looked so wonderful to be there!  I hope those who attended the Tiger Cruise will be sure to post about their experience!  .  I hope to get the opportunity someday myself! 

Whew! Aren't we all happy now?

Homecoming was GREAT!!    I think we were the 1st.to leave the parking lot.  LOL

Curtis wanted to head HOME!  We drove straight through 15 hrs.  It was so nice to hear all about the adventures and the ship life and in return he wanted to hear about everything back home.   He said it was so nice to be able to stretch out on his bed.

So glad to have him HOME for 2 weeks, that is going to fly by way too fast.

We are enjoying our time with our sailor, of course been doing alot, but today he seems he isn't so tired, he was exausted when i picked him up Wednesday. Everyone enjoy this last week with your sailors. !!!!

My son said he had the bug right before coming home, and Sunday I caught it, today I'm finally feeling better, not a good bug!!

Yep, same here.  I am plotzing to see them zoomed in.  I will keep checking back.  So exciting.  Especially since I couldnt be there.

Sandra,  My son left this morning also, we had to change his route.  The mountains were getting 8+ inches of snow.  My son has a Mustang so know way was that going to work.  He had to take Nashville directions, went through some snow but said the hwys were fine.  He called about an hour ago and he is in Hickory NC.

There was another sailor coming from Kansas and took hwy 64 and wished he took the southern route.  He told my son the mountains were bad and he has a truck, he made a good choice taking Nashville.  

Boy saying goodbye never gets any easier, but at least there home and in the States for awhile.  I can at least hear his voice.   We had a great 2 weeks with him, just went by way too fast.

Prayers are with them that are traveling.

Sandra I believe he is taking 85 to avoid Raleigh.

Seen my son off this morning, he has made it safe and sound back in Norfolk. The time went by way to fast. Prayers going out to all that are traveling.

Sandra,  That's good they made it, we can both relax now.  My son got to Norfolk around 3.  So glad he didn't take hwy 64.

Ugh Sandra. That sounds awful. It is tough enough without all the aggravation. Hope he works everything out. Thank God he has a Mom who can help him...like express mailing his Xbox cord, transferring $$$ and giving him lots of support.

Poor Guy Sandra, It is never fun to hear a heavy heart on the other end of the phone.  It will all get straightened out and he will end up having a great weekend!

Thats awful Sandra, hope he can get his money back. My son is feeling lonely since he got back, he really didn't want to leave home.Its weird but he had a back ache the whole time he was home and now since hes back in Norfolk it doesn't hurt. I guess he is used to the bed on the ship, lol.

 Siscarrie,   This deployment did my son in.  He was all gun hole about the Navy untill this long deployment, he also didn't want to leave home.    I hope since he's back and the ship is in dock, it will be better for him. 

Sandra how is your son doing?  I hope he got his money back!

@Sandra - Is it possible for you to scan the insurance card and email it to him? Would they accept it? Also, for my own information, does the insurance have to be in his name or can it be in yours or the owner's (of the car) name? My son is considering driving my car back to use.

The insurance card does not have to be in his name to obtain a decal.  Just needs proof that the car is insured.  My son's insurance is still on my policy.

We still haven't gotten to see our sailor.. Is back in DC trying to get off base housing, taking tests, and settling into an new office, as I understand it..  Mom just doesn't get it? Maybe in April or May ( we hope) ! Hope all is well with every one.. Tired of just phone calls, but now at least I can call him, we have not seen him since last January... Think he is trying to tell us something? Only child syndrome in this family!  Take care all ! :-)

SanAntonioMom... I don't think we are the only ones... When I have had enough of "no communucations", I just let our Sailor "have it" via cell phone or email.. Does he have a cell phone, if so leave a message or e-mail and remind him who brought him into this world... I did that and the communications got better... Good Luck, he will come around eventually, also it depends on their age.... Our sailor is 28 and before he enlisted he was not living at home, so did not think it was important to check in...I then reminded him again, where he came from!! I have found great friends on here with more experince being an Navy Mom, or Wife, and they were great! Take care & Stay safe..

Hello Mikes Mom, My son just joined the Bataan in December.  I am a bit of a new comer myself.  I am in Las Vegas.   What part of the country of you from?  What is your sons rate?

Welcome. My son has been on since July of 2011. He is lucky he missed the last deployment of almost 11 months. We hail from Long Island, New York.

We are from Toledo, OH.  Mike is thrillled being on the Bataan.  Having a blast so far.  Glad he'll be on Norfolk, (12 hour drive from home). Thanks

He has Watch tonight till 2am, then starting training tomorrow @ 6 in N.C.  Not very happy that he has to drive that everyday for 2 weeks.
