1windhaven@I am hanging in here, school is keeping my mind busy!  He will be deploying next month, not sure on anything past that.

Does he have any idea where he will be going on his orders?     Have you been able to see him since A school grad?

  • Greg-and-Angela

    Me too Marianne,

I am taking Tony back to base tomorrow where they will be heading for the Armpit of Afghanistan as John put it. Then I will be heading back to Iraq in a few weeks so Angela could sure use your guys prayers. Will keep Jack in our prayers as well.

  • mikes mom

You tell Angela we are all here for her... she is not alone
  • velvetlace

    Angela-

You have my prayers.  I pray for all corpsmen/corpswomen all of the time!  I also pray for corpsmen/corpswomen families.  It is hard on families in the military.  I experienced as a child when my Dad was in the Navy and gone a lot.  It is like I missed those childhood moments with my Dad.  My Mom was always there since she opted to stay home with us when we were young.  She was a Navy nurse for four years before my parents married.

  • mamawalrus

Party and tube top? Please tell! LOL
My son will not be deploying to Afghanistan but will be deploying to Bahrain. Ne leaves next month, As of right now, he does not think he will get leave home. He was told yesterday to expect to be gone beginning to mid April so he has to cross over do his new Marine Unit and do some other stuff he said which he is not sure on how long it will take. He goes to CL on the 19th to get the details..
SO looks like another 9 to 10 months of not seeing him.. not happy about that.

  • velvetlace

    Carol-

I am so sorry about your dryer.  I keep waiting for mine to die.  I  bought a new washer about 2 years ago, but I did not replace the dryer since it was still working fine.

Good luck on your Cub getting a new job that he loves!!!!

Good luck on a new dryer.  We have a Sears card that we only use to buy appliances.  We have always been able to do 0% as long as we pay it off in 6 months.   I usually buy the one of the cheaper dryers that can at least do three different dry cycles.   I like Whirlpool, but if the Sears brand would work.

It is raining here again.  I guess you gotta love the rain when you live in the Pacific Northwest!   :)

    Mary

  • vettespace

Carol, I've got an extra dryer in my garage that you can have for free!!!!  LOL But, the shipping might be high...

  • vettespace

Has Sharon seen the video yet????

  • Anna

Okay, Ladies & Gents.......have something unrelated to our cubs, but need some input.  My oldest daughter is moving to Concord, CA for her job.  This is all happing in the next 60 days.  She has never lived more than a few hours from me, when she was in college.  Does anyone know anything about Concord???  Her company is paying for everything, but just didn't know anything about the town.

Last Easter my DIL and I were making rice krispies treats and putting them in large plastic eggs to send to my cub in the sandpit.  This year I get to spend Easter with my cub and his twin boys.......that are walking now!!  Time just speds by........

    TGIF!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anna

OMG, KathyProud!!!!  I will send you a message.  God's Grace is amazing Kathy & Betty.  He knows we can come here for all our needs.

Thella Belle......how is the weather out your way???  Am coming that direction for Easter.

  • IDCmom#1

It has been a hard week for those of you with loved ones headed for deployment.  I was surprised how teary I was reading the messages posted.

Just packed first two care packages for my daughter-in-law on the USS Sampson.  I was shopping with the lists I was given by other moms but son called while I was in Wal-Mart and every time I told him something I was picking up, he said she had taken it with her.  Bummer!  So my box was filled with Nerds, Gobstoppers, pretzels, Little Debbie snacks, plastice Easter eggs (a corpsman's mom here suggested that) filled with candy and little notes.  (my husband's favorite was "May Kaitlynn drive your car."  Kaitlynn is only four. Also sent Nerf slingshot and water gun.

I looked for Purex 3 in 1 sheets that were recommended but couldn't find them.  Where should I be looking?

On a very sad note, my very dear sister-in-law did not wake up from her slumber yesterday morning.  She would be 61 next week.  I will miss her so much and know my brother is devastated.

  • IDCmom#1

My sister-in-law has not been in great health for several years but because my brother's health is precarious (he has Marfan Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder, has had ascending aortic graft and is DNR for his descending aortic aneurysm. My sister died from it at 45), I always expect bad news when I see their caller ID.  I was stunned when my brother burst into tears, telling me Mary had died.  But, it is the way I would like to die.  Just go to sleep and not wake up.  Just will really miss our weekly phone calls.

  • velvetlace

    docsmom-

My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.   I would like to go like your sister-in-law peacefully.   She is with the angels now.

Your care package sounds magnificent.  I sent my Cub a care package about a week ago with different types of granola bars, See's candy Irish potatoes and an easter egg, and a net book.   It is fun packing the boxing and trying to decide what to put in the box.

Erin go braugh and Top 'o Morning!!!

         Mary

Oh, darn it, I meant to buy an amazon.com gift card in hopes she might be somewhere where she could download books to her Kindle.  But, if she is like me, she had probably already loaded it with enough free books to keep her going for a year!

I have been doing ancestry.com recently and now know I have a wee bit of the Irish on me own side and no longer have to depend on my husband's total Irish heritage for St. Paddy's.

My daughter is going to a wedding this afternoon.  What a day for a wedding.  They can always have green beer on their anniversary!

  • IDCmom#1

I really do appreciate all the thoughts and prayers.

Mary had not been in the greatest health recently but certainly not to the point that any of us even thought of death.  Just stunned.  On the other hand, my brother has Marfan Syndrome and is walking around with a huge descending aortic aneurysm and is DNR so we are always expecting a phone call telling us he has died.  Mary was an RN and can take a lot of credit for keeping my brother alive since his first aortic dissection almost 19 years ago.  Worries me that he is home alone now.  I hope he will sell their house and move closer to town.  So glad Wisconsin has had a mild winter.

  • NanZam

Docsmom hang in there...I'm praying for your family...

Dawn it's ok if you cry...that's what mom's do...we just can't help it...we will always think of them as our babies...Just know and believe that all will be alright.  Sending you prayer's for strength..(Hugs)

  • IDCmom#1

I really do appreciate the kind words.  I wish my caller ID would stop showing Mary's name when my brother calls.  Keep thinking maybe it was just a bad dream and she is calling.

My son kept me distracted yesterday.  Well, guess it was really the four year old granddaughter who did the distracting.

Got text saying my son had a splitting headache and needed to take kiddo to a babysitter before he killed her.  Oh, and by the way, Mom, how do you get melted crayons out the dryer and clothes.  Appears the "kitty" put crayons in the dryer before my son started it.  Wow, didn't know cats could do things like that.  Mostly ruined granddaughter's clothes he washed but since "kitty" was good enough to just put in white and blue crayons, his uniforms were ok.  I sent him link telling how to clean it.

Once that was done, he discovered kiddo had dropped a pot of blue paint on the carpet and, although the container said washable, they must not have meant a whole pot of paint.  Later, he let us know that Goo Gone took it all out of carpet.

Next, the kittens decided that poop in the litter box is actually a play toy and they were batting it around the floor.

Granddaughter didn't get killed or sent to the babysitter and I don't think he followed through with the threat of listing her on Craig's list under free stuff.

I think he is really looking forward to next Thursday when I arrive and to when the Mercy sails.  He has found out being alone as Mr. Mom is a lot of work and his wife has been gone less than a month.
