Well, I am absolutely biased and I do think the middle face is the most adorable.

Just don't understand MEmom's camera.  It put 40 LB on me and made her look even slimmer than she is.  Horrible camera.

Diet did start this a.m.  Have only eaten granddaughter's leftover pancakes and one bite of her Easter Bunny!

  • MEsailormom

OK so a little unfair on the competition. I lost 17# while sick last winter. Have been trying to pack it on since. My son was pleased at my recovery. Said he expected nothing less.
Docsmom you are utterly stunning and a saint to boot. Hope the sailo ducky found its way to the tub.
  • Dan's Dad (John)

Carolyn got back from the college visit last night, made a side trip to Jacksonville for some reason... she found a mug in the mall she had to have

  • vettespace

I definitely "like" that mug John!!!!

  • MEsailormom

Prayers to all involved in the crash!

Here is one of my favorite picture with the "kid" this past week. Home now. Planes, trains and automobiles and oh yes a bus.

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Mixed news today for sure  Yes Kathy it was an MV-22 Osprey flying from the Iwo Jima (what you're thinking is ARG - amphibious ready group).  The Osprey has tilt rotors, can take off and land vertically like a helicopter and then fly like a plane.  Here's the news story...hamptonroads.com Kathy  Is your sailor on the GH?

Great sailing pic of mom and son!  How tall IS that guy anyway?  Looks like legs that go forever lol  Good looking family :)

Now ... I know it's hard keeping up with news but WAIT a minute, 'our' corpsman is coming home NOW?  Party tonight???  Hallelujah!!   Oh I'm so glad for L and family.  Carol, that outfit's not tacky at ALK, in fact would go great with these snicker

My son learned today that he will not be on the Mercy mission.  He has been in the hospital since last week and will hopefully be discharged tomorrow if tests show he is on the mend.  The Mercy cannot take the chance of not being fully manned should he not be 100%.

I know he is very sad and hopes he will get another chance at a Mercy mission.  It is my personal belief that God has a plan for each of us, even if we have no idea what it is.  I just pray that it doesn't start with an "A" and end with a "stan."

  • MEsailormom

Docsmom...what a drag. I know he was looking forward to that ride. Will he go back to where he was? I want my son to meet him. We won't talk about the A thing for now OK?

  • Kym Ship 11 Div 118

Our son is home now for pre deployment visit. He goes back to CL soon. Then off to the A place.....heavy heart today.
  • vettespace

Kym, enjoy that pre-deployment visit!  There are lots of moms and dads here who have survived our sons & daughters deployment's, some several deployments, that will help you get through this...

  • mikes mom

What sir vette said : )
  • IDCmom#1

MEMom, I am assuming he will go back to his clinic here since all the clinics are understaffed with IDCs.  Will probably do fill-ins back at SOI when their IDC is out.

Test last night showed improvement.  Just wish the ship didn't sail so soon.

  • MomAnt

Hi... I'm hoping someone here has had some experience with NHCA or Ft. Meade. My sailor is due to report for temporary duty there and his orders do not provide a sponsor contact number or email address. He has left several messages at various possibilities but hasn't received any responses. Anyone know from experience who he should be contacting??? Getting a little anxious. Thanks!

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Glad you can attend this time Ruthella, though it'll be hard.

Have a good trip back home. Maybe you and Earl need one of these?

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

You and James Dean Earl are meant for cars, it seems!

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

@ MomAnt - Has your son been contacted by his sponsor yet?  Makes me nuts how this comes up again and again.  If he hasn't, has he spoken with his command and explained what's up?  Perhaps they can assign another to your son.  Keep us posted please!

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Sounds very promising Betty!  Thanks for the clarification, looking forward to updates and will keep the prayers coming for sure :)

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Coffee's on - and it's time to add the ice!  Yesterday we hit 100 for the first time this year - and I love it. This is Arizona, after all - "It's a dry heat" :)  Pool time around the corner!

  • mikes mom

Omgosh yesterday we were in the 80s and today its foggy and 57. Lol that's coastal living for you
  • vettespace

60's here today...was a good day to clear out some of the junk in my garage.  Also was a good weekend to air out some oriental rugs a client gave me that were in a garage for a long time.  Two are in good shape, one I may be able to salvage and one is DOA from mildew and dry rot. Will be working on getting my pool ready this week even though the water temp is still way too cool.

  • mikes mom

Wow your blue star moms give you drinks ? Lucky : )
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Whatever helps (in moderation!) right?  Clinton Kelly (the guy on What Not to Wear) wrote this haiku that is pretty much perfect :)

    Xanax

    You take the edge off
    Fewer calories than wine
    Generic's nice too.

You can not even imagine the ride we have been on.  First  our oldest daughter was in life threatening car accident in September.  She has recovered and is doing very well. We have decided to hold her back a year so she will graduate next year instead of a month.  Everyone is good with that.

Son,corpsman, has been with a girl off and on for almost 2 years.  Fighting, back together rinse repeat.... broke up with her in boot camp, got back together after A school and before he went to CL.  The phone calls continued on off on off... Not just arguments but ugly trust and faith issues.  We went down to see him for fmtb grad and spent a week with him.  we took her with us.  He proposed!!!! Not my idea and I was asked.  Fighting continued.  He broke up with her right before he came home for pre d leave.  He just wanted to enjoy time at home and no headaches.  Well they got back together and apart and together.  I had had it!!!! I tried to get both of them together to confront both at the same time.  Cut to the chase, I said my piece (which by the way was the same as her moms).  They are no way ready to get married by the way they treat each other.  She was very in my face about not understanding their relationship, blah blah and it was none of my business.  I told her it was my business because she was messing with my sons head and I want his head clear before he leaves.  I want him to be able to focus on staying alive.  side note----her mom told me she(the girlfriend) hopes my cub dies in a-stan so she does not have to deal with him any more!!!!! Ok back to story.  I have 6 other kids that are watching this "relationship" tear both of them apart.  It is my business. They chose to stay together....

Well be put him on a plane back to CL on Wednesday.  He was texting me yesterday...he knows he cant be with her...He called her last night and broke it off.  I have been in touch with both of them and she finally agrees that they should not be together at this time.  She will be bring his things to our home today, including the ring.

Long story, sorry. Just needed to get this off my chest.  My arms are not long enough to reach him to hug him.  He will be leaving within the week.  He is really down.  Please pray he can get his head back in the game and on track.  He is really stressed, which i would guess is normal.  He doesnt want to burden any one there with his "crap".

    Thanks for listening.

  • Dan's Dad (John)

Holy crap Kym, sorry to hear your cub has to put up with that crap.

My state senator (a Navy vet) launched a new website today for Delaware Veterans... http://www.carper.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/veterans-resources

It has a lot of good info and links for everyone including a link to veterans jobs. Just type in your mos (HM) and a location to find civilian jobs...

  • MEsailormom

Kym...what a great Mom you are...keep your eye on the ball.

  • Kym Ship 11 Div 118

Well, girl friend stopped by just now and dropped off sons stuff including ring. So broken. I hate break ups...
  • velvetlace

Praying that all goes well now for your son and that he can forget her as a lost cause.

My son's girlfriend broke up with him that last day of his leave and only leave home the end of August.  He was devastated.   But she was not a positive force, so it was for the best.   I think he is not over her yet.

As my mother used to tell me when I was stressed out  (which was very often), "This too shall pass."

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Ditto to the good wishes and hoping for some nice, NORMAL girls to come into his life - or just a stretch of peace will do :)  Glad your daughter is doing so well.

Carol, I keep meaning to check out Words with Friends.  Anything that could get Alec Baldwin kicked off a plane must be pretty addicting.

Gorgeous day here - we hit 100+ yesterday, but will drop 20 degrees on Thursday and even some rain predicted.  Thanks CA Princess for sending it along ...

  • Dan's Dad (John)

    words with friends is addicting!

doorbell rang last night, which is weird at that time for us, and nobody was there. After a minute I noticed a bouquet of flowers for my daughter. I gave them to her with the note, seems a boy was lurking in the bushes to ask her to the prom, never saw her so giddy.

  • Kym Ship 11 Div 118

How fun for your daughter John. Good memories.

Still hanging in there. Son skyped with us last night. Nice to see him. He leaves very soon.
  • Dan's Dad (John)

she's been looking for a dress for weeks, mom is ready to kill her!

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Mariann, I think Marsha practically rebuilt her house while Michael was away! :)  Would love to send a care package with socks etc for them if that's alright with you; PM'ing you.

John, that sweet story made me giddy and I'm not even related!  Saw a story about prom dresses on TV yesterday, they had this one from JC Penney of all places for $60 that was red-carpet-ready Prom dresses

  • Dan's Dad (John)

this was the latest she didn't want...silly dad thought the gloves were part of the outfit!

  • Dan's Dad (John)

this is her in the prom fashion show in January, heavan forbid she be seen in the same dress twice!

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Love that skirt, if only the top was the same or one color and not sparkly...this is fun, please keep us in the loop!

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

(I meant the swirly skirt)  The blue is so pretty too!  No wonder you work so hard John, keeping that girl in pretty dresses ;)

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Guess what Kathy - my mom made my prom dress, it was unique, I loved it!  May as well start looking at patterns now :)

  • vettespace

Glad I had sons!!!!!  The biggest worry we had was making sure the vest and tie color would match (not clash) with their date's dresses...LOL
