LOL, Princess...remember, safety first!!!  LOL  What's for dinner?  And of course, lots of wine!  Have fun!

Carol, my only news is that my cub will be headed to the sandpit again!   ARGHHHHHHHHH!

Oh, and both Alabama and the NY Giants are winning!!!!  :-)

  • DramaSoul

vettespace....yeah...my son-in-law is a NY Giants fan and he is happy.  My daughter, the Cowboys fan (where in the world did she come from?) is not as happy.

Sigh...may your cub be safe.  May all of the cubs headed over there be safe....

  • vettespace

DramaSoul, I have 3 brothers, one a Dallas fan, one a New England fan and the other a Miami fan!  It sure is NICE when the Giants are playing well and winning Super Bowls!  LOL

At least cub knows what he's in for after having deployed last year!  May they all come home safe and sound soon!

  • vettespace

Carol, it'll be after the 1st of the year and probably similar to last deployment time frame.  At least he'll know what the weather will be like!  Except now we have to worry about "friendly's" in addition to all the regular threats!!!!!  Arghhhhhhhh!

  • vettespace

Our cubs were in the same general area last year...if we started sharing stories here we'd scare the begeebies out of all the new moms!!!!  :-)

  • vettespace

Hey, I was just thinking that my cub should have earned his Good Conduct Medal...he just finished his third year!!!!  I don't think he's been punished or court martialed yet...:-)

  • DramaSoul

Some of us are already scared! My son graduates next Friday from Camp P FMTB.
  • DramaSoul

You don't have to pipe down. It's the unknown that is infinitely more scary. Yep goin' to the graduation. Haven't missed a graduation of either of my kids since they started preschool! Got a text from him last night. He had just come back from their final field training. Hope to talk with him
    This weekend.
  • vettespace

DramaSoul, here's a link to some photos of my cub's FMTB graduation at CP a couple years ago:

    http://www.navyformoms.com/photo/albums/cp-fmtb-graduation-june-18

Congratulations to your cub!  Where's he headed after graduation?

We always tell one another not to invite worry, but sometimes it's just hard!  :-)

  • mikes mom

Sir Vette I thought your cub was gvetting out ? How's he doing ?
  • DramaSoul

vettespace....while he would like to go straight into the division with a couple of his buddies,  I have the privilege (and it is that) to drive these three newly-minted Devil Docs to their first duty station in the desert. Not exactly sure if I am allowed to say where.  Thanks for the photos!  I got a pink "Proud Corpsman Mom" t-shirt from Zazzle (THANK YOU MARCY!!!) to wear for his graduation.  Since I will stand out because of the walking boot I have to wear, thought I would just go all the way with the shirt as well!

  • mikes mom

Drahmasoul you will where that shurt proud.. I have been wearing my Navy sweatshirt since 2002 and my Army one since 2010 : ) how lucky are you to be a car full of Corpsman ... you have a safe journey with those "Docs"
  • vettespace

DramaSoul, sounds like your cub will be working in the hospital or clinic!

Princess, cub will be in for a couple more years.  Just enough time for another deployment!  Yikes!!!!!!!!!  :-)  pm me and I can give more info.

  • vettespace

Kathy, we'll help you thru it.  We've got some old pro's here...I'm the young pro...LOL  We'll provide advise on care packages, communication, where to look for pics, tell you to answer any and all calls (especially numbers you don't recognize), make sure you've got your passport updated, we'll point you to maps and all kinds of info.  Just remember, Our Corpsman are very well trained and Marines take care of their Corpsman!

  • DramaSoul

mike'smom....well one thing for sure, I will be in good hands if I have a health issue on the drive!!!

  • Vipergirl

Drama Soul. Congratulations to your son. My son also graduates from FMBT at Camp P next Friday. He is going to Camp L. I am not able to make graduation but his brother is going so I hope they take lots of video and pics.

  • DramaSoul

Vipergirl....when did your son graduate A school?

Congrats on his graduation!  I think one of the reasons my son chose Camp P is that his family is all in the west.

  • Vipergirl

DramaSoul  He graduated in December 16th I believe, I am out of town and do not have my calendar with me.

  • Dan's Dad (John)

Good moooorning Navy moms and dads! I haven't been on for a while either. My daughter just started her freshman year at college. The cub is still at CL but will be going blueside next month. His unit is gearing up to redeploy soon but his orders to  the marines were cut for two years not three by mistake so he won't be making this trip! Finally a mistake in his favor. He's heading to PAX River outside of Washington so he'll be close for the next two years, yeh! He's been saying he wasn't going to re-enlist but maybe he'll like this duty better and want to stay in, their minds change like the wind. He's hoping to start taking college classes while at PAX.

  • Greg-and-Angela

Great news John! Hope Dan makes the most of his time in classes on the Navy's dime. Good luck Dan

  • vettespace

John, that is REALLY GOOD NEWS!!! Those are the kind of mistakes that we parents love!

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

    Super news John!

  • DramaSoul

Hi All...just got back from FMTB graduation and taking my son and his buddy to their first duty station.  It was really a hoot to be around those guys for a long weekend! Even my waterproof mascara ran at the graduation when their shields were pinned on.  What's really cool is that he and his buddy have been together since boot camp so I now have another son! His buddy's family couldn't make it to the graduation so we just took him with us and even got him a room at the same hotel. I laughed so hard my sides hurt with all of their stories.

John...I don't know you but that sounds like really great news to me!

  • vettespace

Just saw this video on Corpsmen posted:

  • mikes mom

    Awesome : )

  • Anna

That is too cool, Sir Vette.  It seems like a lifetime ago that my cub was in the sandpit at a shock trauma unit.

    H-E-L-L-O EVERYONE!!!

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

HI ANNA!!  Miss seeing the familiar faces here :)

Great story Vette, glad you spotted that!  Shared it in another corpsman group too.

Love your grad story Drama, glad you got to go!  It's so great to get to know our corpsmen's friends, isn't it?  One of ours returned from the sandbox a few weeks ago, great homecoming and he's making plans for getting out, finishing college and heading for law school (corpsman wasn't his first choice!).  Speaking of that, my son has another buddy, an IA, who I just sent a care package to - if anyone would like the address, please let me know :)

Is it cooling off anywhere else???  Still in the low 100's here in AZ this week, though the nights have dropped to the high seventies and great.  Here's how we do autumn here - put in a winter lawn and change the flowers.  Mikesmom's having Indian Summer and over 100 in her northern California area, what a shock from a summer in the 60s, poor thing...I'm longing to get into some sweater-weather!

  • Greg-and-Angela

Doing the HAPPY DANCE. Our son finally got out of the sand box. :)  Thank you everyone for your prayers and support. Prayer work!

  • Katze90210 (3/113)

Marcy I would love to help out fellow Sailors. Please send me the address to mail them a package! If you already gave it out. Then please keep me in mind for future addresses. Thanks

  • vettespace

Marcy, that's my kind of cake!!!  Thank you!  I never knew you were a hooters girl...I should have though...:-)

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

Greg, homecomings are great...glad your cub is out of the pit!!!

  • DramaSoul

vettespace...you're a Libra? Me too. Hope you have a great birthday and a great year!

While I don't know Greg and Tony, I am happy for your son's return.

Same for Lori, lots of prayers for you and your family.

  • DramaSoul

Marcy...send me the address.  IA...my son has talked about that.

It is still in the high 70's in the NORTHWEST....AND NO RAIN!!! It was absolutely beautiful here today.  Of course I had to work but I could look out the window. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop! When I was on the shuttle going back to my car, there were some tourists from Nebraska (this was Monday). It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and they were kind of surprised.  They said they thought it rained here all the time.  I said "Shhhh! Don't tell anybody that it isn't raining.  It's our secret." LOL! They also couldn't believe the mountains and hills!!

  • velvetlace

We thought we were going to get rain here in the Pacific Northwest, but it has not happened yet.   It should start raining in November, but that is not a guarantee.  I have been AWOL from this board, but I do lurk and read.   My corpsman son is still working away at a hospital, and he is doing fine.  I hope you all are safe.  I pray every Sunday or Saturday at mass to keep our corpsmen and their families safe.  God bless you all!

    Mary

  • DramaSoul

velvetlace...theoretically it should start raining here this weekend.  We are actually in a drought right now. We did a prayer for rain last Sunday on the Jewish holiday of Shemini Atzeret (which marks the end of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot).

  • velvetlace

@DramaSoul-    Well we are supposed to get rain tomorrow and Tuesday.   We shall see.   I am looking forward to the rain again.  It makes everything so green, and the air is so fresh and clean!  If we get rain, you should too in your neck of the woods.   Shalom!

  • DramaSoul

@velvetlace...we got 1.11 inches of rain on Friday in Portland. We have had drizzles off and on since then. Hopefully more to come. I like it for the same reason you do...everything is green and smells so fresh.
  • OKCsuzieq

@Kathy I got several last night too! I'm on my cell phone and haven't navigated to alert admin, was waiting until I could get on my computer. Thank you for taking care of that for us!
  • DramaSoul

I got about 5 of them and deleted them immediately. So glad someone was on top of this. I have been reading posts but been too busy to respond. Hope to catch up over the weekend.
  • DramaSoul

Mariann...CONGRATS!! My son is at 29 Palms now.

  • Kym Ship 11 Div 118

Getting excited soon we will be heading to CL for a welcome home!!!! Can't wait.
  • Greg-and-Angela

God Bless you Mariann and thank you for raising a son that is proud to serve and has given more than any nation should ask from it's young men. Thank God he is home! Way to go Suicide Charley Company, job well done. Freedom is well represented by the sacrifices of people like Jack.
