Hey - we're on the U.S. Navy Facebook page today!  :)  U.S. Navy Life "NAVYForMoms was created for the mothers (and loved ones) of those who are currently serving or considering serving in the U.S. Navy. Are you a member?"

  • DramaSoul

Thanks, Marcy, for sharing about the posting on the FB page.  I couldn't have gotten through boot camp without you guys! :)

The tragic event in Boston today makes me all too aware again of the mass casualty drills our corpsmen do.  Sending thoughts and prayers for those killed and injured in Boston.  And for the good people in this world, from the first responders and medical professionals, to the runners who stopped to give aid and went to the hospitals to donate blood, prayers and gratitude...

  • NormaH

I also thought of our Corpsmen, especially when I saw two military men pulling back the barrier fencing so the victims could be reached.
  • CamsMom

First time here...my son is an HM2 soon to be 3 and has completed two deployments. One in the sand box the other in Trashghanistan....happy to have him at a Naval Base inRota, Spain....soooo proud of this young man!
  • IDCmom#1

CamsMom, think you have those numbers reversed.  HM3 being promoted to HM2?  Or, HM2 going to HM1?  No matter what, congratulations to him.

So envious of your son's assignment in Rota.  I would love my son to be stationed there so I could visit!

  • BugsMom

    Hi everyone,

Trying to post before I lose connection. Love you and miss you all, hope you're all doing well! Hugs to you and yours! Love, Bugsy!

  • BugsMom

Just read baxk a few pages. My prayers are with you Greg & Angela, hard to understand why they would be sending your son back so quickly, God bless you all. Will keep you in my prayers. I haven't taken my Blue Star Flag down, I see too many reasons why. I will be here along with you all more often now, finding more wifi spots in my little evk of the woods! HUGS to all of you!

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Hey Bugsy, good to see you here again! Hope all is well with you and your family. What is Bug up to these days?
CamsMom, what a great assignment he has, and well-earned :) Had to smile at HM123 etc, get used to one, then they advance and you have to figure it out again :) For anyone new, it goes like this up the ladder,
    HR: Hospitalman Recruit (E-1)
    HA: Hospitalman Apprentice (E-2)
    HN: Hospitalman (E-3)
    HM3: Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class (E-4)
    HM2: Hospital Corpsman 2rd Class (E-5)
    HM1: Hospital Corpsman 1st Class (E-6)
    HMC: Chief Hospital Corpsman (E-7)
HMCS: Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman (E-8)
HMCM: Master Chief Hospital Corpsman (E-9)
POTUS (just kidding - not that any of our kids wouldn't be great at it!)

  • DramaSoul

Thank you so much Marcy!!! That makes it a little easier. :-)
  • IDCmom#1

Marcy, thanks for the list.  I am an Air Force brat so know AF rank and worked for the Army so know Army rank.  My husband worked with the Navy for 23 years and my son has been in the Navy almost ten years and I still haven't gotten the rank down!  I am forever calling Master Chiefs, Sergeant Majors and my son doesn't like it.  I figured I would learn the enlisted ranks as he studies for each promotion.  Looking forward to Chief in a year or so!

  • NormaH

    Thank you, Macy!

  • medic mom

I have a question for everyone. I had a conversation last night with my son who is currently in the sandbox with his Marines. He said that his commanding officer has recommended him for a blue jacket of the quarter package. He really didn't explain what that is to me. I asked him and all he said was that it was a commendation. Does anyone know what this is? He has me confused right now. LOL Thanks a million in advance.

  • GrannyRachel29Palms

Hiya! My sailor is a corpsman at Twentynine Palms. He has been unable to get his mail. Does anyone out there have any ideas? Due to many Marines rotating back from overseas, his company has not formed up yet. Sequestration has forced furloughs and the mailroom is periodically closed. I am looking for helpful hints from parents in the know. He is on a waiting list for a PO box also. Best wishes to all USN families.

I was having an identity crisis, reading posts from me that weren't from me (docsmom).  I didn't realize members could have duplicate user names.  Glad to know I am not crazy and I am not composing posts about other people's children.  So, I am no longer docsmom but now IDCmom#1.  Think I am the one and only user with this name.

  • Pilarcita30

    Hello,

Welcome Pilarcita and congratulations!  Be sure to join this group too: HM Hospital Corps 'A' School, lots of good information there.

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

GrannyRachel, try this - MarineParents.com 29 Palms.  They have a chat group and perhaps you can get some good info from them about getting mail.

IDCmom#1, love the new name!  And not only are you a proud Independent Duty Corpsman mom, IDC = ID Crisis LOL

Marcy...you always find the best pics!  Been really busy so haven't been here much.  So proud of my son doing so well on the ACLS.  Don't know if I posted it here but he scored so high he qualifies for an instructors class! Hope all are well.  Thoughts and prayers to all of our deployed.

  • vettespace

Anna, you're looking good for someone that's a million years old...LOL

    Hello Princess!!!!

    Okay Anna, I'll ask...What's FSH????

Marcy, Vegas is all my son in the sandbox talks about!!!!  It was the same thing last deployment!!!

  • Anna

Ha Ha! Sir Vette! Fort Sam Houston Army Base in San Antonio, TEXAS! He will be a Instructor for Navy, Army and Air Force. So, should that be C School!

Princess! Is Melissa still in San Antonio? Got to love that Jazz.
  • vettespace

Dang Anna, that's just a hop skip and jump from you!!!  Congratulations to your son!!!  He'll do great!

  • vettespace

Anna, what's he going to be teaching (instructing)???

  • Anna

He said he was teaching the basics, whatever that means. I don't know if that means the basics in Lab Tech or just the general stuff. Yes, am so excited that he will be closer. I have racked up lots so Southwest miles so that makes it even sweeter. The twins will be three in December.

What is your Cub up to now! sir Vette?
  • mikes mom

Melissa was at fort Sam a few years ago for. "a" school" sorry I have been drinking lots of wine haha
