Sailors attending A School in Meridian, Mississippi

Hi everyone!

If there are new moms on here or if someone missed the other post - there is now a facebook group for LS family members to chat, share, ask and answer questions, etc.  It's a closed group so you will have to request to join but we will get you on as soon as we verify that you're not the enemy (lol).  We want to ensure the safety of our SR's/Sailors!!  Everybody's names on here are so different than the names on facebook so we may not recognize you right away.  We usually ask a question or two but please know that it's for the safety of loved ones serving their country!  We do follow OPSEC rules on that page as well! Has anyone heard when the PIR 9/27 group is leaving for Meridian

my son will be attending school In Meridian. He is still in booth camp. it is little hard for him .he will pass booth camp I will be happy when he finish booth camp.

Hello Ladies - Does anyone know if there is a Logistics A School as well in Missouri?  We were initially told our sailor would be attending A School in Missouri for LS.  Perhaps they were mistaken?  Thanks and God Bless our Sailors.

Thanks for the welcome. My son has a PIR date of 11/15 so he has a while until he arrives in Meridian. 

Hey all. I have a sailor that will be graduating from A school in Meridian and is being stationed in Hawaii. I cant seem to get a straight answer on how rerouting his plane ticket works if he is going to come home for leave before reporting to Hawaii. Do you know it that is covered by the Navy or if it comes from our pockets? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

hello all, I am a bit new here and am looking forward to update you all on my time in bootcamp and A school in Meridian,MS. I am leaving for BC the first week of December and I am going as PS. I am very excited to be going.  I would love any advice you all have to offer and support. This is one of the best sites that i came across and i wish all of your sailors/future sailors the best. Trying to go visit my sailor over the Columbus day weekend next weekend, but it seems that it is not the easiest for him to get this approved. He is an AZ. Has anyone else had this problem or was able to be able to get some time to visit recently?

my son is yn in meridian. School has not started yet, We want to visit at thanksgiving, just wondering if anyone knows how it works, I assume if he has liberty we just pick him up till he has to return??????

@fredsmom Thanks for the info. He is stationed in Meridian now and home would be Tampa, fl..then on to Honolulu! I have a feeling it might be quite pricey, but we will have to wait and see. He might just opt to come home for one of the holidays if possible and skip the week home after A school.

Hi. My son is graduating October 18. Then on to Meridian.Part 2 of his new Navy Life.

Sharong6 what is the rate of your sailor?

If our sailors can come home for Thanksgiving, does the airlines offer discounts for military?  He would be traveling from there to PA was trying for Latrobe airport its cheeper.  How do we or our sailors take care of travel plans.  Also when is shut down?

Any one know when LS schooling starts?

Sorry. I am a bit of a "newbie." With all of this. I will ask my sons wife about his rate. I have been so focused on his boot camp and PIR. His wife gets all the phone calls, but I get letters. I don't mind asking "dumb."questions. I always tell my students there are only dumb answers! So I assume you are referring to E1 or E2? I am not exactly sure at the moment. I am still in the "I'm a Sailor' heaven right now :)

I also think I once mentioned that he is ship 2 div 949.

He has told me that he will be in Aviation Technology. He was not very specific.

Ok. I think I am organized now! He will train as a yeoman in Aviation Technology. Leaves early tomorrow morning. Enjoying time with family today. SO PROUD OF OUR SAILOR.

My son leaves for BC in a couple of days. He will be headed to meridian immediately after so we want to have a bag packed for me to bring to graduation. Any suggestions/tips on what clothing he will use/need when he reaches MI?

Dexter93, they can have their favorite things once they phase up (takes about a week or two) and can wear civvies.  I had my daughter pack what she would want in A school before she left for boot camp.  I took everything she packed to boot camp and let her choose then also.

My son is waiting for class too. I hate that he is waiting so long to start but enjoying the daily calls and texts :) I know he can't wait to finally rank up and get some liberty.

My son waited for class for about 5 weeks, he got board, but since class finally started, he is enjoying school.  I am anxious to see where he will be stationed.....that is the nail biter for me, LOL
