Txsailorsam - glad to read your dad made it through the night, we will continue to pray for him  Please, as you can keep us posted

LTLY - no, no plans now for the wedding.  Prob ably not for another two years, she just started college and my son is just getting started in the Navy and wants to get established and more secure financial wise.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

  • txsailorsam-Donna

Things looked promising earlier today. I just spoke to the nurse and Dad's kidneys are having trouble... looks like they are trying to shut down. Prayer warriors please intercede again. By the time we got to the hospital this a.m. his blood pressure was normal, now we need prayers for his kidneys to statr to function properly again.

I am returning to Houston to see Sam and have Christmas with my guys. Please pray God sustains dad through the new year.

Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers. It means a lot.

  • txlovemom

Praying for your dad, you and family.

Just made it to Texas a few hours ago and have internet access again, so hopefully have more time to post through the holidays.

Haven't seen my sailor yet, but hopefully tomorrow!

Hold on tight, safe travels, hugs for you and your sailor.

  • Kat Q

    Prayers Donna :)
  • txsailorsam-Donna

Thanks everyone... sorry to say more bad news this a.m.. I'm going home but feel so much like I'm deserting him but can do nothing to help. I am so praying he hangs on until Jan 2nd so I can have some time with Sam. I'd so much rather he "go home" this way than through the agony the end stage of cancer brings. Not very cheery for Christmas. Forgive me.

I very much hope everyone on here with sailors and those who are in the fleet have a super holiday.  I will concentrate on the reason we celebrate. I hope you all are able to do the same in the midst of the hubbub.

Again thanks for the MANY prayers you are lifting heavenward for me, dad,Sam and our family. You are a blessing.

  • sailorjayship13div329

TXSASILORSAM: Your family is on our minds, hearts and in our prayers always.  tonight I will light a candle  at church.   Enjoy the time with your Sailor and family, that's always been my comfort.

Sorry for not being on.  It seems with Sailor home we are out the door or all the computers are being used, and "its not by me!

Eileen, I'm lost on the logo for the boxes.  What's going on with them?  Not enough time to view all the posts to get up to speed, so maybe just fill me in.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO MY EXTENDED FAMILY. WISHING ALL A PEACEFUL DAY AND THE NEW OUTLOOK WE ALL WILL HAVE FOR THE NEW YEAR, WHEN ALL OF OUR SAILORS WILL BE JOINING THE FLEET.  WHERE EVER THEY MAY BE OUR HEARTS WILL BE ALSO.

TO ALL THE MILITARY FAMILIES PRAYERS, PRAYERS, PRAYERS.

  • Kat Q

Just a quick post to wish all of my extended family a Very Merry Christmas and enjoy the time with our sailors who are home.  For our sailors who are away they are in our hearts and prayers.

Sailorjay - God bless you for your touching comments.  I am so fortunate to have all of you as my extended family (the ones who know Navy life and supports it and understands, I am proud of all of you.

Sam's mom - As we enter into the Holy evening you and your family have super special prayers.  I know it is difficult anytime, but more so during the holidays to face what you are now.  It is sad, but when my mother was ill, I prayed for the Lord to take her and not let her suffer.  It is better for them - hard on us left behind.  So, I do so understand.  God Bless You

  • sondra

Merry Christmas everyone!  Hope everyone has a blessed Christmas day and a Happy New Year!

  • Tiff'sMom (Sharon)

    Merry Christmas Everyone! :)

This group has become my family... I would never have thought in a million years that people on the net could become so close... it is an awesome feeling having family so far away, yet so close! :)  As you all know, I only have my kids, so our gatherings are, well, very small, but very special and having all of you in my life makes life feel so much better!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all..... and may all our Sailors be safe and sound :) :)

  • txsailorsam-Donna

Merry Christmas! Have a great day as you ponder the reason we celebrate.

Report of Dad...doing better this a.m. Kidneys still not working but he was awake and responding to small commands the dr gave him.

Going to try to enjoy this day regardless of what the circumstances. I refuse to be under the circumstances.

I sooo appreciate the prayers, well wishes and cyber hugs that you pple have sent my way. God's blessings on you all.

  • LTLY

Well Kevin is back in GL...we had an awesome two weeks together! Wishing I won that Mega Millions so I could fly to see him every other week!  It has been a tough day with him gone, but I have tried to keep myself busy.

*Ranger (almost 5yrs old)- "Mom, where is Kace?"

*Me- He went back to work for a while."

    ......10 mins later.....

*Ranger- "Kace, come play Wii with me..."

*Me- "Ranger, he went back to work today, remember?"

*Ranger- "So is he going to be gone for a long time again?"

*Me- "Yeah, but we will get to Skype and talk to him on the phone."

*Ranger- Sigh..."Thats Lame! I wish he didn't have to be gone for so long."

    .....about an hour later.....

*Ranger- "So Kace is really not here..."

*Me- "No, he isn't. He is on a plane flying back to work..."

Bless his heart, he just couldn't grasp the idea.

Wishing you all many Blessings in 2011!

I will check back tomorrow to catch up with all the posts!

Got a text from Sailor a little while ago. He will be flying out of San Diego on Thursday to meet up with his ship. Don't know how many others are going, too. I did chat with him long enough to find out where he is going and that he would call me sometime tomorrow. I am all emotional and going in all directions. I am on the FB page for his ship and the mom's page there, too. I guess now I need to contact an ombudsman so I can get updates. I've been through this deployment thing before with the other half but it has been 18 years. Reenie, any advice is welcome.
  • Elaine-PIR 10/1/10

gcmb-got a late text Wednesday afternoon. He is flying out Friday morning, few hours layover and then 11 hour flight to Japan. He will be with other Sailors, mostly from his A school, and I would love to be a fly on the wall when they hear Japanese spoken over the speakers. Will be catching up with ship sometime Saturday evening. They will lose most of Friday and Saturday in flight. Don't know when I will hear from him again. I told him when he emails me his ship email address to put "Mom, it's me" in the subject line so I would know it was from him. I talked to him last night. He is excited to get going. I hope your Sailor has a safe trip to Virginia. It will be hard to see him go, but now it is time for his next adventure.

As soon as I hear anything, you all will be the first to know. I told him to sleep on the plane, get up and move around and get some snacks to take on the plane. This trip will probably be a lot like BS21. With the time changes, they will feel like they have been up for 36 hours or more by the time they get there.

Never thought I say this, but I miss our clock.  last time it was 92 days.   I was neat to see a reminder about how long (and how short) it has been since BC and this all began.  Sorry to see it go.
  • sailorjayship13div329

Nope don't see the clock. well I'll shut down the computer and rebot.  hope that works.  Even LTLY's back of the sailor is gone. ( the new woman's picture).  cross your fingers and pray. here goes nothing.
  • Elaine-PIR 10/1/10

reenie-Mailed Steph's card today. Found one at the Post Office, of all places, that I thought would do the trick. I signed it Navy For Moms and my name. Wrote a short note, too. Made my heart glad. Everyone have a great evening. Now I'm just waiting to hear that my Sailor made it safely to the ship. It will be a long wait, I'm afraid.
  • Elaine-PIR 10/1/10

Yes reenie, he is on the Vinson. I'm hoping that with the amount of guys that were going to be with him, they all manage to get there safe. I know he is probably there by now. Waiting for him to send that first email. He had his telephone card from BC still and it had over 400 minutes on it. It also could be used for international calls but I really wasn't expecting him to call me. About the spelling errors-Don't worry, I knew what you meant. Haha.
  • sailorjayship13div329

Note: Back again with the 99 days showing.  Reboot, Reboot.  What a great feeling to see our Clock.  I guess it really is the "little "things that count.

Just came back from " brat pack" shopping.  What fun did I have.  Now just to pack and mail.  Seabee will let you know when I mail.  message me his address just to make sure what i have is right.  I messaged you/fyi

  • sailor_mom1 (HN-surg tech C sch)

  • louann0628(ship13div328)

  • alessandrabeason

hey guys I know it's been a few months since I've been on here .A lot has happened recently. Our holidays were ok. My sailor came home for about a week and a half to spend with my family and I and it was great. But this year the holidays were even more important to us because of our families. His trip was cut short and he had to take extended emergency leave past his holiday leave to go back to see his dad in Indiana. He had seen him for a few days in the beginning of holiday leave before flying out here. His dad was sick and he passed away on January 2nd. It's been hard for all of us esp. my fiance. His dad was his world. Even though I only met his dad once I spoke to him regularly and we made a good relationship of father and daughter in law on the phone. He'll be sorely missed and I just ask everyone to pray for us as we get through this a day at a time. My sailor's back in A school now and he graduates next month then his orders are to be back on the east coast :)  God- willing. We are trying to plan our wedding through all of this for early next year. Hope everyone is doing well and i'll be back soon. Here are some pics to follow :

  • txsailorsam-Donna

I have been away for awhile. Very rocky holiday season. after all the excitement of getting to have SF home for the holiday I was called away for all but 4 days of his leave. My dad passed away Dec 27th.... my husband had stroke type symptoms Dec 28th... the funeral in Md. Dec 31st. SF left Hou. on Jan 2. while I was still in the frigid north tending to estate issues. I didn't even get a picture of him while he was home. Well I'm back heres hoping you all had a great start to your new year. Hoping to hear all news on sailors orders and other news. SF finishes A-school on Feb. 3. Then orders maybe hold time. I'd sure like to go see him in SD.
  • CaliMom (Maryann)

txsailorsamship-so sorry to hear about your father and all the difficulty you experienced during these last few weeks.
  • sondra

Josh'sMom I feel your pain.  My son got a girlfriend when he was home for Christmas and then went back to GL and didn't call for 2 weeks.  Had to wait till he figured out that wasn't going to work I guess!  lol  I hope you hear from him soon! And get everything packed and moved!  I hate to move!!!
  • txsailorsam-Donna

    thanks for the kind words.
  • alessandrabeason

thanks reenie and jane... it's been tough. tomorrow is the memorial service and unfortunately i don't have the money or time to take off of work to go and my sailor really couldn't leave base again. but we're holding strong together and he will get thru this with time, love, and support. sometime in the spring i believe they may do a memorial service up in annapolis where his dad attended the naval academy. so going to try to make it there :) and yes he's a catch, i lucked out. i love his kirk douglas cleft in his chin lol :)
  • txsailorsam-Donna

Sailorgirl...I spent most of Dec. in the Annapolis area. That is my home town. It's a beautiful place. It is extra beautiful in the spring time. Enjoy your time there.
  • sailorjayship13div329

Txsailorsam:  I also read the post.  I have to say my parents are"old, old" according to my mom.  they are in there high 80's.  they are about 6 hours away, so not able to see them too often.  I did want to tell you that I have been sending my prayers to you and your family.  If there is anything I can do, say the word.  You are all blessed that we have an extended Navy family. My Sailor say the same.  He has been going to church and praying for all the Navy families.  sorry getting misty eyes.  Just know that alot of people are thinking and praying for you.
  • txsailorsam-Donna

    thanks Saoilorjayship.
  • Kat Q

Hi ladies, I sure have missed everyone.  I have had a long and stressful month and then my internet went whacky as well.  That was the final straw. lol  I won't go into details as we all have been on some type of stress ride.  My prayers are with everyone.  txsailormom and sailor girl, I am so sorry for your losses.  I am so far behind I will never get caught up so I am starting new.  Please forgive me.  I am home alone tonight as husband is in hospital taking care of his brother who is in his final days.  Also waiting for phone calls from the brother and sister that live off the island and will be doing .airport runs.  My house is also the house that everyone will be staying at.  I have had a full house since the 17th of Dec.  oh well thank God that we have the room.  So nice to be reading about the next steps our sailors are starting on.  Please know all are always in my heart and prayers even if I don't get on.  Without you ladies, I would go more crazy than I am.  God Bless
  • sondra

Congrats to Karl!!!!  At least he will be warm!!
  • louann0628(ship13div328)

Hello everyone..Just wanted to say hi. I have not been on here much. My sailor is doing fine in Virginia. He loves to visit DC and Maryland. This will be my last post for a long time. Just found out last week my husband who has never smoked a day in his life has lung cancer. We are going through many tests right now and then surgery. Please keep my family in your prayers. Our life has been rocked by this news. This group will always be special to me. And I wish the best for all of you and your sailors. Take care and God Bless.

Louann:  stopped to check our site.  You know that we all are praying for you and your husband.
  • alessandrabeason

Louann my prayers are always with you. We are dealing with it now my sailor and I, whose father just passed from cancer. It's hit us hard but we're managing to get by a day at a time.

Sailormom1- thank you for the well wishes :)

Cindy-sailor mom- what's the alumni group and what's the package??

  • sondra

Prayers going up Louann~  So sorry for those that have lost loved ones!

Sailorgirl - the alumni group is the Brat Pack.  We are sending boxes to each others sailors.

  • alessandrabeason

I found it sondra thanks! how do I sign up? I'm sending him stuff soon hopefully but I know it'd cheer him up to know others are thinking of him too :) He graduates next month and I know this next month coming up is going to be really hard on him.

  • Kat Q

Louann - so sorry to read about your husband.  Prayers are on going for him and your family.  Please contact your local American Cancer Society.  The help that they can give you and support is amazing.  I volunteer here with them.  I am a cancer survivor and went through it without contacting them.  Now that I know what kind of services they can give, I wish I had known years again when I was in New York.  God Bless

Five of the six family members are here now.  It is 3:00 am and we just came from the airport.  Yesterday, it was the same.  The flights into the local airport come in at 1 - 3:00 am.  Brother in law is the same.  So do wish the family was here for vacation instead.

Planning on a little shopping tomorrow with Ashley for my Brat Pack.  Need to change the pace.  All take care.  Prayers for all that are going through troubling times right now..

  • sailor_mom1 (HN-surg tech C sch)

Kat ...  I have ya in my prayers....been there... its not easy...  it helps knowing you have someone you can talk to ... and know you got all of us for support... hugs
