Hear hear Kelsi, ditto from Maureen. I am very mindful that our Silors do risk their lives . Tears flow when I think of my Sailoe's brother. 329 and 330 were brothers . My prayers are given for family, friends and our wonderful military.
haha well I'm practically brand new, but I'm a 10-01-10 sailor, and so is my boyfriend sooooo... I'm at Dam Neck (VA Beach) and my boyfriend is currently deployed of the USS Maryland (submariner)
Present and accounted for. My Sailor is in San Diego aboard the USS Carl Vinson. Due to go back out on deployment the end of the year. I check in often to see if anyone new is here.
Bella is only active on FB.
Kelsi-as an ex-navy wife, I hope you have made some great new friends among the Stennis FRG. They will become your lifeline during this time. We are always here, too. Each time we got to a new duty station my circle got bigger but like here and on FB, I feel like everytime one of "our" sailors move on, it is a new adventure for me, too.
Here and still check in occasionally. My Sailor is in Kings Bay, Georgia and will be going on his first deployment in December aboard the USS Florida (submariner).
I'm still here. My sailor just finished C School last week and is now near Norfolk, attached to the USS Theodore Roosevelt, which is being retrofitted for the next two years. Today is his first day of induction so hopefully he'll find out what he'll be doing for the next two years, since he won't be doing what he has been training for, for the last 9 months. I mostly follow Maureen's FB page but check here when I see messages posted.
DDG55 what is your sailors rate? my best friend is actually assigned to the USS Stout right now, he is an IT, though, because him and I met in "A" school (I'm at IT as well)
haha i forgot to mention, my best friend from the stout also is a graduate of 10-01-10. he was in my brother div- 324, though I didn't know who he was actually until we got to "A" school
finally using the PC, not the iphone. And look there's the clock. It's an old friend. Isn't there the site where our lives began; seems like just a moment ago.
haven't checked here in forever, but kept getting all the activity on my phone, so had to check to see what all the excitement was about! You ladies rock!
I have not heard from my son since November of last year. I do know he's stationed in Virginia Beach. Still a VERY proud Navy Mom and I cherish the connections made here. OUR SAILORS ARE AWESOME!
Haha, I just looked at your picture and I recognize you also. Hope everything is going well. His car is on its way to him now. His brother and grandpa are driving it to him, I am sure he is excited to get it. Is you boyfriend still out to see?
Yeah, everything is going good for the most part. My hours are long, but I work four days on, four days off. I usually hang out with Cody at least once during my off days. He is really excited to get it, means he will probably visit more often because typically I've been driving to norfolk to pick him up, then going back to virginia beach to hang out there, then driving back to norfolk to drop him off, and it's like a 30-40 minute drive each way! So it's hard to find time to do that. He is always so anxious to go out and do things when he's out of work, too, whereas I am always exhausted and want to relax, so I don't make the trip too often. Yes, my boyfriend is still out to sea, he is supposed to come back to Virginia sometime in October. Cody knows him as well because we were brother divisions with each other, so they stayed in the same compartment at boot camp. I am really excited for him to come home. It's rough going this long without him! It's already been about two months since he left virginia, and now another two to go *sigh*
Oh the sweet freedom that a set of wheels can give you. I know how much you are missing your sailor. Daisha and I missed Cody something awful while he was on deployment, it is a little easier now since we can talk to him a bit more often. I have to go to bed, but find me on on FB and we can chat from time to time
Oh yes, I was so excited to get my car after going almost a whole year with no real kind of transportation. Taking taxis in Pensacola was interesting, I have to admit, and we always had a lot of fun, but it's always kinda a pain when you know what the luxury is of owning your own vehicle. I can only imagine what it is like for you guys to be missing him like that. It must be especially difficult on him and Daisha. I can deal with my boyfriend being gone for four months... barely... but to think of them only having been able to see each other 3-4 times in the past year??? I'm sure I could do it, but it's definitely gotta be tough. I agree, much easier when they're back in port. My boyfriend only went underway about 2 weeks ago and I was going bizzerk the first week because I had only gotten one email from him. Definitely difficult to get used to since I was so used to getting a hold of him every day pretty much anytime I wanted. Have a good night, and I just friended you on facebook so you will probably see that next time you sign on!
Better late than never! lol I still check in from time to time. My sailor has been to almost every side of the states. From GL to Mississippi to San Diego. He is where he will remain until 2015 except for his deployments. So good to see our page active again! Feels like old times!!!!!
I thought to make a list of where our Sailors are today and what they are doing, but I need 48 hrs in the day. maybe I can do something on the weekend. I just ordered the map of the world. Boy, the retention from high school, is just not there! Oh well, its back to map class 101.
sailorjayship-I got my map way back earlier this year when my sailor deployed. I was putting little notes on it for each port call but after he got back I went back through the ship's FB page and figured out where they had been and what days they had been there. I typed it up and went out and bought a document frame and put it in there. Even if the map doesn't go with him in the years to come, he will always have that nicely framed listing of where he was and when. Also, you don't have to mess up the map on the wall. LOL. If I can get a good picture of it I will post the page of port visits on here so you can see how I did it. Also, I read somewhere on one of my other N4M sites that one mom had made a spreadsheet to keep up with all the Sailors that she knew and where they were.
finally checking in here.... love the idea of updates from where everyone is... Kurt is Corpsman -Surgical Tech. heading to Corpus Christi. TX for next couple years.. and Yes his new wife gets to join him finally... they are both so excited...
ladies, took a new picture of a Sailor leaving home. this was at our country fair. it even shows the star in the window. decided i would change the picture. there was also a memorial for 911 there. took pictures trying to put on . cross your fingers.
wow hard to believe a year ago we were writing letters like crazy wondering when the next call would come! Well i am not writing letters anymore but sometimes wonder when the next call will come. lol I wish we could have all gotten together for our 1 year anniversary!
Here , here. I too wish we could get together. Sometimes you ladies are my o ly family. Just meaning I spend more time with you than my own family. Doesn't seem like more than 1 year!
This time last year was the longest 32 days of my life. I remember staying up late at night with sons girlfriend making our travel arrangements and wondering what he was doing in boot camp. We tried to imagine him cleaning up after himself (back then that was not easy for us) haha. What a fine young man the Navy has given us.
Thought you all might find this funny, I sure did. I found out on FB today that the RDC Chief of division 326 has been assigned to the Vinson, my son's ship, and he is now a Senior Chief. My son doesn't know what his rate is but he did say that at least he can't yell at him, LOL. A couple of the other guys he is with were also in 326 at boot camp.
Hi All, Can't believe it will be one year soon. Has been a wonderful journey and experience for me thanks to all of the support by you wonderful, amazing ladies. I too wish we were able to get together. Maybe someday in the near future. Love ya all - and I am so very proud of all my "adopted sailors". Woo hoo for 10/1/2010.
hope everyones doing well! we are stationed in md. and our little boy will be arriving in about 2 weeks! hard to believe how much we've gone thru since boot camp last year :)
Getting closer to our Sailors 1st. So much has happened to each us in that time. So glad I shares with my"family". Someday maybe we could do a major skype with our group!
Less than 8 hours! What a LONG year it has been! What a team WE are!! We have laughed, cried, and prayed together in an attempt to stay sane through one of the most emotionally draining experiences many of us have ever gone through. I love you all! I most definitely could not have done it with out you all! I really enjoy keeping up with some of you on FB...and Thank God that Maureen (reeniegalla) is on FB and is such a pro at it!! Looking forward to keeping in touch with many of you throughout the next year...and the next, and the next one after that!
LTLY... ditto. So well said. You ladies are who I look for on fb. All the sailor stuff has been hard but has given me hope in light of the other stuff this year has held for me. It has been probable the worst year of my life... Sam leaving for the Navy gives me hope. He is doing something with his life, giving back to society in some form. I have lost a dad, a father-in-law and my D-I-L has taken my grandson all with in the last year. My son Tim has nearly lost it over losing his son..... All this to say SF going in the navy and you ladies popping up on fb have been a bright light in an otherwise bleak year. THANKS.
Some of you are so funny, giving me something to laugh about. I am THANKFUL to you.
365 days! Doesn't seem possible. I feel like I have known you ladies forever. I am truly blessed to know you all. Another year, we can do it. Thanks for the pictures. Sailor takes nothing! Cake!!!! Shameful to cut it. But oh boy I can taste it!
Texted with my son about what was going on for him this week last year and if he thinks about it. He said he tries very hard NOT to think about it. I know during boot camp they treated the sailors like little children with no freedoms and my son hated that. But to get to his goal of rescue swimmer, he has to go through a series of schools and training, boot camp being his first, so I always thought of his graduation as 1 school down, 4 left to go. He is now in his final school, doing fabulous, and targeted to graduate mid January. To reiterate what so many of you have said, all the sailors have come so far and I am so proud of all the progress each of them has made and the contribution they are making to keep our country safe.
I could not imagine doing this last year with a better group of women! Thanks for all the laughs, sharing the tears, lifting my heart and hopes and always being there when no one else understood. I am honored to know you all. Now lets begin year #2!!!! HooYah!!!!!!!!!!
