For those is div 950, the role should be the same as div 947. Should be carrying the state flags.
  • ladybug1961

My grandson graduated 9/2/10 and was on ship 6. He told us that they retired ship 6 and all 900's would be in a new ship 2. He was in Choir. He is maturing into a fine young man. going to A School at Great Lakes. It certainly is a life changing experience for all of us..I met so many great boys and their families..They are so young..some only 17. It was very difficult for them, during those first few weeks..so keep praying for them. My grandson Sailor is Lean and Mean!.( I should say Lean and Serious) all in just 8 weeks. Unbelievable what discipline and having to listen to someone, can do for this generation. I believe it is called TOUGH LOVE... GO NAVY! pray for those RTO's too.
    GO NAVY!

Does anyone have photos of Div 945 marching in the Labor Day parade? I have been searching online but have found nothing. I was hoping to get a glimpse of them.
  • Whaletalkers

    @NavyMomx2,
I just got off the phone with the director of the parade. He said he would look up those pictures and email them to me. He said it may be a couple days but soon as I get them I will post them!! :)
  • NavyMomX2

I also e-mailed the local newspaper and they are looking for photos as well. If I get any, I will post them.
  • NavyMomX2

    Hi Moms,
If you have a recruit with a PIR date of 9/10 or 9/17 and you happen to take photos of the Choir, would you please share? Thanks so much!!!
  • Whaletalkers

Bravo Zulu Seaman Recruits! Wish I could have seen them at the parade! For those of you with Sailors graduating tomorrow, Congratulations! You're going to have an awesome time at PIR tomorrow. It will give you goosebumps when they step out on the drill hall floor! Wait until you hear them performing!

    Proud Mom of FCSA PIR'd 4/9 Ship 06 Div 920 !!
  • ladybug1961

Ginny.. go early , wear comfortable shoes..long walk from check in to PIR. experience of a life time..
  • Deanna_H_Proud_FC2's_Mom

Ginny! < cheers wildly for you > You're going to have an amazing time. Have you already booked your room? I agree with Ladybug, go early!! (And don't forget your parking pass at the hotel if you're not taking a shuttle!!) (What a morning!!) (and it snowed the day before and was FREEZING cold the morning of my son's PIR and that was 4/9!!) So, be prepared for anything!! Ha! Ha!

Can't wait to hear all about it. Will your son be staying in GL for school or will he be Grad and Go?
  • txsailorsam-Donna

Our 946ers should be marching in the 9/17 PIR. Some one take pictures please, maybe even a video for youtube.
  • Deanna_H_Proud_FC2's_Mom

TXsailorsam, I was THRILLED when a mom I met here said she had taken pictures of the band (her daughter was in choir but she knew my son was in the band) and emailed them to me. I picked my son out right away (BCG's and all!!) I cried and laughed so hard since it was the first time I got to 'see' him since he left for BC. I hope someone is able to get some pics for you. I still tear up thinking about the moment I opened the email and picked him out!!

Bootcamp is such a rollercoaster of emotions. It gets easier once you have cell/email/skype contact with them. But, you'll still have 'those days' where you want nothing more then to just wrap your arms around them and an email, text or even skpye conversation just won't do!
  • txsailorsam-Donna

Thanks Ginny.. .I sure would be pumped to see a pic of him.
Deanna I feel like this week all I have done is cry. I miss him so much.
  • Deanna_H_Proud_FC2's_Mom

Txsailorsam, < knowing hug > I understand. Mine is out of BC and in school and I still have weeks like that. In fact, I had one two weeks ago! At any given moment I would just tear up and cry. I'm so proud of him and so excited for this incredible journey he's on. But, he's my son, we're very close and I MISS HIM SOMETHING FIERCE!!

Hang in there! You're not in this alone!
  • txsailorsam-Donna

Deanna... thanks for the post. You are not too far from me.I live in Spring, TX. I like the pic of you and your son.
  • NavyMomX2

Division 945 performed today - great photos on facebook!

  • txsailorsam-Donna

Anyone know where the bodysnatchers are during the marching? Are they in among the ranks?
  • ladybug1961

I saw them walking around the lines of sailors during 9/2/10 pir...I would believe they march in with the rest of them...saw 3 sailors go down when standing at attention..I heard when they lock their knees it stops blood from going the brain and makes them faint.
  • Who

  • newmom60

Ginny: My daughter is a member of the choir (9/24/10). As sailorwife said, if you get any pictures, please let me know
  • Whaletalkers

I contacted the director of the Labor Day parade that the 900 divisions were in and he sent me all the pictures he had of them. I posted them if you would like to look for your SR and copy it. They turned out really well. My son is in DIV 945 Rifle team.. It was good to see him!!

Hello to all, I just got my son's letter informing me he is in Ship 2 Div 951. Do you know what he will be doing or where I can find that information?
  • Who

Laurel, are you sure that your son put ship 02? usually all 900 divisions are in ship 06...although due to growing numbers im sure this could have changed. just want to make sure your mail gets to him in a timely fashion. =]
  • ladybug1961

I heard ship 06 was being retired and 02 was the 900's ship.
  • Who

hmmm, then that must be the case. =] weird, ship 06 was still pretty new when i was there but there -was- a lot of construction. so, hopefully newer and nicer facilities.
  • laurel

I triple checked. Ship 02 Div. 951 with PIR on 11/5. Thank you all for your responses, concerns and support.
  • Jimmy's Mom Ship 06 Div 946

It's true. The 900's are now in/on ship 02. My son was in/on ship 06 but they got moved to a brand new ship.
  • Mom-to sailor-Alli_Div950-10/29

my daughter reports that the red light out light stays on all the time, and other basic new construction bugs to work out. The kitchen - or whatever they call it -- was not up and running so they marched to another place to eat. She reports that the food was better than "the Pearl" -- not sure what it means, but I will take any news in a letter.
  • Who

@allisonsmom... The Pearl is in reference to a ship the you eat at your very fist meal in boot camp and a couple other times through out training because its close to the building where you get fitted for uniforms and things. USS Pearl Harbor. and shes right hahaha
  • Mom-to sailor-Alli_Div950-10/29

thanks for clearing that up -- you probably know how it is ... you get immersed into a situation and talk in that "language" very confusing for the outside world. I was in mortgage lending and you talk to me about the GFE (good faith estimate) the TIL (truth in lending) and I am good with it -- but this Navy jargon has we whirling! You are so helpful ... thanks so much
  • Who

well yes, thats for sure. the language, the writing the terminology is all pounded into the heads of recruits. its hard to seperate that sometimes while writing home. in my division we couldnt use the words I or me. everything was this recruit, that recruit, those recruits...
  • G Man Div 951 Ship 2 PIR 11/5

Please Remember it may take 2-3 weeks once they have arrived at RTC for the Div. to form, especially if they are in a 800 or 900 Div. Those are the Spec Ops and Performing Divs. My son shipped out on 8 Sep 10 and just had his 1-1 day today, means they formed up as a Div. some Divs will be push Divs. and go thru training faster. The Recruiters cant give info they don't have, as in the final mailing address if the Div. hasn't formed yet. We are all in the same boat and our kids haven't got any mail yet either and are going thru a tougher time then we are. Have patience and faith we will all be in comms. with our kids soon and they are trained by the best instructors in the Navy.
  • skeeter85

My daughter is also division 947....carrying Delaware's state flag. I also can't wait to check out the pictures. I have noticed her letters have been changing. So much more grown up already. (((sigh))) Happy for her, sad for me.

Hello everyone, I am a grandmother that that has two grandchildren in the US Navy and one grandson in the US Coast Guards. The last one that went through boot camp was a grandson that I was very close to. I got to hold him first and he bonded to me when he was born and he was my boy from then on. I thought I would die when I saw him off to the airport from FT Gillem here in Georgia... He left on Jan 13th and I cried till the week before his boot camp graduation on March 13th. These dates I will never forget. He was in the 900 division and at graduation, I was so very proud... as I sat there smiling and fighting more tears... it was wonderful. Here my grandson came out marching, leading the band out and they played as he directed the band.. The 900 division is something that all you should be very proud your child is in. It is my understanding that they pick the ones with the highest test scores to have a chance to be in the 900 division. Someone said this was not true but when I researched, this was what I understood. I do know that my grandson tested high. But anyway, yes, it was a long period before they allowed him to call home, but when he did, it was such joy. The very last when they have to go into the ship for the night, it is a stimulated ship, like a real one with everything that could possibly happen will happen etc. They are on the ship all night and they keep saying that they will be out early the next morning and they will call when this is over and tell you that they are a sailor. Just to warn you that when this time comes, I have not heard anyone that was able to call that next morning.. so don't get up tight when you do not get that call the next morning. It was late that evening when we heard from my grandson, but then he was able to talk one hour. He called his moms number and she did 3 way to anyone else he wanted to talk to....so he talked to a lot of people during that hour. He was able to call several times. His first call was actually about 7 days after he was there, but not everyone gets the call. Then he accomplished something and they awarded him letting him go and call. That night it was so cold up there and he had to walk to the NEX to call. But those calls were so wonderful. Then the graduation.... we have Friday afternoon, Sat and Sun to spend with him. We headed back to Georgia on Sunday night, Me crying all the way home... my daughter did the same.. Then we got a call from him early on Tuesday morning and he was at the airport waiting for his flight out.. He called several times that day but his plan did not leave out till late that evening, I went to the airline schedule and found what time the plane was leaving out and then I followed the plan all the way to San Diego. It was a none stop flight. Then when he got to San Diego, waiting on the van or who ever picks them up from the airport he was able to call again... Then by thursday he had got to go off base and purchase his own cell phone and our calls have not stopped since. He did not get to come home until August 19th.. His brother was able to fly out to see him. He was 17 years old and they even allowed him to stay in his room with him so it did not cost extra for motel bills. He was able to stay for a week. Only the same sex can stay in the rooms with them. He says he is coming home for Thanksgiving but we will see and Christmas... but that means two trips so I don't know about that.. They have 30 days a year off, and he has only had 10 days off, and he went in on Jan 13th... I have lots of Navy moms on my facebook and we all stay close... of course if you want to be my facebook friend, please be my friend. you can find me as Arlene Robinson Hayes Murrell my email address is arlenemurrell@att.net. please be my friend. We keep up with each other and when we need prayer we ask and we have lots of friends that prays with us... love it.. God bless you all, and try your best to get to the boot camp graduation. It is something that you will be so proud and something you will never forget... We stayed at a motel 6 that was a less expensive place to stay right near the base... it was wonderful... The motel 6 was ok too. We got a room that was considered a suite for less than $100. a night. seems like it was less than $80. but not sure... God bless you all is my prayers.

  • queen of disrepair

Letter today! lots of talk about benefits and wanting us to write as much as we want. he still hasn't gotten any of our letters yet (his letter dated 9/19. Does anyone have the four digit zip that goes with the regular zip for Ship 2/951? He has yet to include that in his mail.
  • queen of disrepair

Thanks - I was starting to panic that all our letters may not be deliverable because of the short zip.
  • newmom60

Dear moms of 900 divisions. My daughter was part of Div. 945 and we just returned from PIR. It was a once in a lifetime experience. She was part of the choir and although I only saw her her back I was beaming (so proud- crying as I write this). My daughtert called only 3 times (I arrived call, at 4 weeks, Im a sailor call). I NEVER separated from my cell. phone just in case. No news is good news. Send letters, daily is possible, my daughter was well know for the amount of mail she received (sometimes the said the same thing that previous ones, it really doesnt matter. I didnt believe my daughter's changes. She left as the "typical teenager" (mouthy, I know it all) but during the w/e, yes/no sir/madam, opening doors, following rules. Praise the Lord. We stayed at the "Navy Lodge" good for the price-$65/night, very close and safe. You can make me one of your friends, if you want.
  • kuntry pr11/19 ship2 div 901

my son is on ship 2 division 901. his pr is 11-19 anyone else.
  • Deanna_H_Proud_FC2's_Mom

Our son's PIR was 4/9. He was Div 921 (in the band) We got 3 calls while he was in bootcamp! I was never seperated from my phone (just in case) watch for 847 area code. It's them! It might say "pay phone" But, just know that 847 is your sailor. I had read that here and when my phone rang one evening (we were hoping to get a call that week but, it came on a Thursday instead of a Saturday like we thought (they earned a call by doing something really well.) My heart lept. I thought I would cry like a baby (as I still do somedays when I think about him being so far from home) but, I kept telling myself: " I won't cry. I don't want to upset him and I don't want to waste a second of my call with him crying!" Instead, I beamed, I laughed and smiled the entire time. He sounded so great and was so glad to talk to us. (though his brother and dad were nice to only talk a few seconds so I could have all his time!)

Hang in there. This time will fly by and before you know it, you'll be at their PIR smiling with pride at your Sailor! Waiting very impatiently to hear "Liberty Called" so you can run and hug them!

Our son is still at GL. He's currently finishing up his A school and then will have Phase II of ATT and then off to C school. (about another 8 months worth) either in VA or CA depending on the weapon system he gets. (He's an FC - Fire Controlman)

Good Luck to you all! Bravo Zulu! <--- (Job Well Done)

    < big hugs >

Oh, and be sure to watch the Army vs NAVY (at least the half time show) on Dec 11th. The Sailors, Staff and even some SR took part in history when they recreated "The Living Flag". While in formation they made a message that is supposed to be part of the half time show. My son is somewhere in the dip of the 2nd white stripe!! :~)
  • txsailorsam-Donna

In the middle in front of the stand where the speakers are. They will have a markers that has the 900 division number on it. sit in that section. You will have a perfect view.
  • txsailorsam-Donna

    anytime.
  • txsailorsam-Donna

My son just graduated... same deal as your son. He was a body snatcher... caught the kids that fainted during the ceremony. some hold the doors, receive guests etc. I don't know of any the weren't in dress uniforms during grad.My son was in that division because he scored high on the ASVAB and was in civil air patrol in high school. He was also the last to be picked for that division so the job he got was among those left by the time he got to the division.

Please remember to be just as proud of Your Sailor as others who have a more up front duty. It takes all kinds of jobs to run the Best Navy in the World and some are cleaning toilets and serving food. Boot Camp is like training camp, no one remembers the star at training camp after the first score in a real game. My Son is glad to not have any Extra Duties it gives him time to do what he needs to get done. All are honored for passing Bootcamp and do really Graduate.

Hi Everyone! Just had PIR with my daughter a couple of weeks ago. She did perform at her own PIR for those of you asking. Just a note. We stayed at the Ramada - Not impressed. We were told it was best to take the shuttle and it would have been but they didn't get us there until an hour after the doors opened so we had a hard time finding seats near our daughters division. I was very upset. Also, our room smelled extremely bad. Just be aware if you are planning to stay there. The people were friendly, but make sure your room is satisfactory and drive yourself to the graduation! Best wishes and congratulations to all!!
