Ladies, they will call on time..just keep writing them, send them pictures, and write some more......They all do fantastic ...and when Graduation Day comes you will see how much they have grow...when they see you they will tell so many stories, but good experiencies..and yes some divisions can call more than others...but just glue the phone to you....it will ring!!!
They will perform on two graduations prior to theirs...have a friend take pictures, sometimes you get to see them and also check Facebook, you can see some pictures some times!!!
The flag team do a such an emotional moment, then we have the music, the choir, the riflles...and the team that help all the families and friends when they get to Graduation. Lots of people! My sailor was one of them, I couldnt hug him untill the event was over but a couple of my NavyMoms we get to seat next to them and that was really good!!
I know its hard for you now, but they do very well....
Any word yet as to when Div 927 will do BS yet? I know other divisions in their training group have been given a date. Not sure how they will group 927 into the BS schedule yet...
aaronslady, my son is in the same div! have you been on the Facebook page for the Navy? US Navy Recruit Training Command. It is awesome. Also you can try this link.....http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir6102011......hopefully that will work. I have not received a letter this week, hopefully tomorrow and no phone call.....how about you??
Hi! Yes I have Charlotte..I've been stalking it ever since I heard we might see them. Under the one link you posted there is also a group within w/ our division, try to find us if you can.
No letters this week. I got two last week, and no phone calls but I heard we might be getting ours this Fri! Keep your phone close
Question ladies! My SR is a non-performer so will he still march out with the rest of the div? He is carrying a flag so i would imagine he would but im hearing conflicting stories. Also how do I find him/him find me after the ceremony?
@Richelle - if he's carrying a flag, he's a "performer." You'll see him long before the non-900 divs. ever march in, as the state flags unit have a performance routine. I'm assuming he's not color guard, with the US flag, but a state flag? You can sit anywhere you want, but I'd ask him where would be the best place to see him. He might say that he's at the top of "V" in the NAVY formation they do, for example. My son was a guard up in the balcony so told me to look for him up there. He should also know where he ends up for his performance, so can tell you which end to meet him. There is about a 5 min. period BEFORE anything begins when the graduating 900 div. is called to stand in formation directly in front of the main stage so their families can take pics! So make sure you hang around there with your camera. Very cool!
Hmmm. you have me there! Then he might only be in the formation picture BEFORE the ceremony begins, so you should still hang around for that pic! My son gave me a quick "side" hug as he went by. =)
Hi. My son is on ship 02, div 933. It is nice to hear from other families experiencing the same things as I am. Miss my son so much and can't wait to see him at PIR. Also glad to see that I am not the only one sending multiple letters! I was worried my son would be the only one getting so many letters - didn't want him to be embarrassed!
Just got back from PIR... husband said letters are really important. He said you can't send too many to your SRs!
The state flags and band posed for pictures in front of the reviewing dais before the ceremony. After they posed, they went up into the bleachers up high to wait. Bring extra batteries for your cameras and memory cards and sticks if they are digital!
Hello, I just found this group! From what I have heard, my son is on the Rifle Drill Team. I do not know much about it other than it is an honor to be chosen for this group. I was wondering when I noticed that the 900 div is a performing division, he has never been a performer(band).
Ladies....how exciting that your SRs where chosen to be in a 900 division. My sailor graduated on 6/10/11 and he was Honor Guard (rifles). It was awesome to see pictures of him the two weeks prior to his graduation on the Navy FB page. He did only get two short phone calls home but Kathy is right.....it is all SOOOOO worth on graduation day. They come in early for a photo op in front of the bleacher section you are suppose to sit in so get there early!! The only 'strange' thing is they really dont participate in the graduation. The flag holders stay on the floor of the drill hall but honor guard marches in, gets inspected by the admiral then marches out and sits in the bleachers to the side. My son enjoyed being in this division....it truly is a privilege! Zacsmom....my son had no prior band, choir, performing experience either! GO NAVY!!
If I understand correct if my SR is PIR 07/15 that he will be performing the two PIR before him. Hope someone takes pictures. Navy has been his dream and playing music is love.
Christy....he should perform in the two PIRs before his own. What is he doing? Singin, instrument etc. They Navy photographers do a great job with pictures of the 900 division. I am assuming you have 'liked' the US Navy Recruit Training Command page on FB:).....let us know if you see him! I'm so excited for you!!
I am so grateful for the information from this page. My son was in his high school band but he told me he is doing Rifle Etiquette. Not quite sure what that means but I am excited for him.
Hi again Tina: Our boys will be doing the two grads before our and then their own. My SR was a bit bummed about having to work his own but he'll come around and realize what an honor it is. We should start looking at the pictures of PIR two weeks prior to ours to see if we can find our SR's let me know if you find Z.
Hi, I just found out what being in a 900's Division was. My husband is at bootcamp now : Sip 02, Div 939. I had no idea it was something different than the others. I haven't heard much from my husband but I am expecting a phone call this week!
Those of us in div. 936 have sons that will be working your PIR's please take good pictures and post them....we want to see our guys!!! looking forward to seeing the "I'm a sailor" posts from all the 900's.
from what I understand the "body snatchers" will be walking up and down the rows of new sailors to catch any that start to faint due to being in formation so long. maybe they'll catch your son in a random picture....we'll see.
Received 2nd letter today,( not counting 1st form letter ), My SR is a performer ( didn't get explaination ), But states "everyone has there Arrangements for A school and shipping out, hours after graduation 08/05/2011. Has anyone else heard this??
Ladies.....relax.... so much to look for...they all get to take pictures together!!!!!!!! My Sailor was one of them.last year .and guess what? I got to see him before everybody got to their sailors!!! he was on a balcony and I seat down next to him thru the entire graduation!!! Me and the rest of Moms...we knew where to look for them...also, please tell them to order the Graduation book call "The Keel"..amazing pictures!!! They will know when you ask them.. Graduation is a unique special time and when you will see them together performing..talking to people...passing programs....you will be so Proud of them....you will get the "kleenex"...............
Terry...you may see him as soon as you get to the door!!!!!!!!!!! Just remember...they will tell you, Mom, no hugs untill "Liberty Call" we are in uniform....and that its the true!!! So happy for you!!! :)
@ Terry's proud - you can sit wherever you want, there is no "assigned" seating. Like MariaM said, we saw our sailors stationed in the balcony as soon as we came into the hall (about 7:15 AM) and went up there as soon as the doors to the balcony were opened. You can talk quietly and sit near him, we had 40 min alone until the bleachers started to get filled up, so ask him exactly where he'll be. He'll know by the time he calls you after battlestations.
I think he might know by next Friday because they will be working the PIR. I asked him to fill out the questionnaire I sent and that was one of the questions I asked. Where he would be, where we should sit, and where to meet him after the ceremony. Hopefully he will send that info as soon as he knows. Getting excited. Only three weeks but the days are dragging!
our son was a body snatcher/ go-under-bleachers-to-pick-up-stuff-people-dropped for 2 grads before his, and railing guard in balcony for his own. Graduating 900 div sailors are called down for pictures in front of the grandstand right before anything official starts, so be ready to dash down there with your camera. It's a perk for the families whose sailors are "working" the graduation. Also, if you have any "friends" in the 2 grads before him, you can privately send his name & pic if another mom would be willing to look for him. We had that situation with a mom from the division just ahead of ours, and I "paid it forward" to a random guard I met who would grad the next week. She hadn't seen her mom in 6 months.
http://youtu.be/w3MomWmPDUg?hd=1.........ladies, of the 900's Division..this was taken last nite,,,my Sailor was in the 900;s Division...now in Dc, Ceremonial Guard...this is some events they do!!!!!!!!!!!!! Embrace, love, respect!!! They are a very unique group.............WhiteClay, we did it!!!!!!!. love to all of you....
Moms...my son will be performing for the PIR of 07/08...con grads to the new Sailors and families. Hope that some div 900 moms will take a couple of pics of the band...maybe a sax player also...lol...that is my SR.
WhiteClay Ship mom thanks I will watch so I do not miss the pic...I read somewhere that there would be signs of each division so families could set together in the same divsion.
So excited and so much I want to remember to get it all right....guess that is also called nerves.
My daughter will be performing in the PIR 8/26/11. She says she is the only girl in the drum line. I am so proud of her. I can't wait to hear her! When my step-daughter graduated 2 years ago, I can still remember hearing the band come in. It was quite emotional. Still gives me chills just thinking about it!
Kira...that is so exciting! The drum line was one of my favorite parts of PIR followed, of course, by the Honor Guard which my son was in! ;) Congrats to her!
Tina....isnt it so exciting to get a tiny glimpse of them....you will be so proud on PIR day! Get there early because the 900 division honor guard comes out early for a photo op because they dont stand in the drill hall the entire graduation. They came out about 815am
