greenoak, if you go to the Recruit Training Command center's website, that is where the live streaming of PIR's can be found. Not sure if Navy Dads links to that, but the RTC website has all the PIR info, as well as other helpful links.
Which one of my 950 mom SR son last name starts with C? I know I've talked to his mom but after hearing all of the first names in offline conversation I can't remember who's mom belongs to him
moms - if you are users of FB; I created a group for moms of SRs that are in Ship 02 / DIV 903 PIR 11/27. Please join if you'd like to "meet" others who have loved ones in that specific Div and PIR. Thank you!!! Hope everyone is having a great weekend and staying warm and/or dry!! :o/
I got my phone call!!!! She is state flags. She was so happy she cried. Has a hard test is two weeks has to pass or PIR delayed 2 weeks. Also said some are not working well and taking it seriously yet. I had trouble hearing her
I see alot of new 900 division parents.......welcome aboard and congratulationsl This is a great place to be..the facebook page is going all the time. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. You will find this is a roller coaster ride but having other moms around really helps.
Hi 900's Family - I will be taking as many photos as possible at the PIR this Friday and posting them to the "900 Division - Great Lakes, IL - US Navy" facebook page over the weekend. It will drive my husband crazy but I know how much I have been scanning the last two PIR's pix for a chance to see our SR in 950 Div :)
NavyBlueMom - She is carrying the Illinois flag so if you are sitting in the bleachers facing the sailors, she will be in the group on the left; When I talked to her today she recommended sitting up in the upper section because the view would be better that sitting lower down. What about your sailor?
I got my first letter yesterday. Short but sweet. She thinks the food is OK. Didn't like the shot in the behind lol. Everyone has her address so she should be getting lots of letters. Spirit air has the best prices but crazy flight times. Anyone else?
Hi Mary B - The Facebook group is: "900 Division - Great Lakes, IL - US Navy" so if you search for that you should be able to find it. It is a closed group so you need to request to be added. The admin will send you a Facebook private message, so check in your "Other" box in the messages section to find it. Once you reply to the message they will add you. There are more photos that were posted this weekend by one of the 900 moms who looks to be a professional photographer that are great. Her business Facebook is "Life is Art - Photography by Wendy Holden" and I believe the album is public so it should be accessible. Good luck!
The PIR yesterday was fantastic and the 900 divisions did a great job. We were so excited to see our new sailor but it was definitely hectic. We stayed at the Navy Lodge (got a kitchenette with 1 queen + 2 twins for $96/night and it was fabulous!) and took a taxi to the base at 6:15am. We sat in the second tier of the bleachers on the left side of center as that is where our sailor lined up with her flag. We caught a taxi back to the hotel (they pick up at the main gate) around noon and returned her to the base at 7:30 as she had to check in by 8 pm and we didn't want to worry about getting stuck in a line of cars to drop her off. Her bus left the base at 2:30 am for Chicago O'Hare so we left a bit earlier to meet her at the airport. We handed off her cell phone and other personal items allowed at A school, hung out until 8am, drove back to the hotel, and passed out. Her flight left at 10:30 so she relaxed in the USO room until time for check-in. One thing that surprised us was that we had been told we could hang out with her in the USO lounge but when we went there the person in charge said there was not enough space to allow any non-military so we had to walk around with her and find someplace else to relax (not a big deal, but also not what we were expecting). Here is a picture of our new sailor and her little sister :)
I'm new at this site and still trying to figure it out! I'm one of a few people who still doesn't have facebook (not a computer person) so this a a challenge for me, but my daughter who is graduating Dec 6th told me about this site and I love reading the comments as we all have a special connection with one another and great information to share.
My daughter will be carrying the Idaho flag and she is so proud and excited, it was great to hear that in her voice! She said she would be doing this at 2 other graduations but I didn't get the dates from her and wondering if anyone else has heard the same and know the dates of those graduations? I'm hoping to watch it via the web main stream!
@SeaWolfette - thank you for sharing the picture! Congrats to you and your family, I'm sure you're incredibly proud!
I received a phone call last night...was able to talk with my SR for about 30 minutes. He too was choked up at first and said he's a bit homesick but all is well. There seem to be a few talkers in their division (906) so that's making them get in trouble. He's made a couple good connections with others in his group and is looking forward to graduation! I hope those of you who were still waiting were able to receive a phone call!
So happy you got a phone call pixie that's wonderful!! Lili, I stay up late and wake up early so I can write two letters a day. Any free time I have I spend writing! I'm sure he understands that life goes on while he's away and you have to work. Don't worry, the letters you do get to send will be cherished by him :)
My daughter ship11 div 420 is a sailor. Thank God her Dad died unexpectedly at 48, three weeks to the exact of her graduation. Please she needs support, as happy and proud she is of herself she is hurting so bad that her Dad won't see his baby girl become a US Sailor
Tracy, It breaks my heart to hear this, he will be watching over her and see her graduate, I am soo sorry for her and you, be strong and love each dearly xx
Morning!! Okay, well I can't use Last Names, so I'm on a scavenger hunt.....for 7 families of DIV 903 SRs....If your SRs Rate is AW, (not sure they all are, but all I have to go off of) and last names begin with the following letters... PLEASE PRIVATE MSG ME! ;o)
Ni, Ha, Lo, Br, Tr, Sa, Ch (kinda looks like a periodic table) :o)
Yes, I recognize this is a bit odd...but since we can't use names (all my son gave me were last names) no clue how else to do this! :o) And its by his request, so I have to try! ;o)
Once I get a msg from you I can see if you are who I'm looking for! Always LOVED scavenger hunts! LOL THANKS!!!!
hello Ps93:4! I'm excited for our soon to be PIR too!! Are you making it to the meet & Greet? I believe Your SR is friends with my SR...I sent you a PM! :)
YES! Finally got the letter, and thankfully the information the recruiter gave me was correct (except different four numbers after zip code, whatever that means) And, yes, tami0823, our kids are together, Ship 02, Division 909. I never got a box, which I assume means he donated his items. It would be very much in character for him to do that.
