Hi everyone....hope all is well with you and your Sailors. My son has been in Japan now since May 5. He does like it there and has took interest in learning the Japaneese language. He and his ship have been out of port now for 3 weeks and I have had no contact at all. (Ugh) It feels like Boot Camp all over again to me and ummm I don't really like it so much.....Trying to stay busy and not dwell to much on it... There was an article in the Military times yesterday about the Goverment cutting military benefits and pay with the upcoming budget cuts....I encourage everyone to write to your local Senator or elected official to express how much you disagree with this. Military families and friends need to take a stand and make them hear us on this. Here is a link to the article. Thanks everyone!
Well, to update my son's progress, he asked to get "rolled" back a month. He failed a lesson test and the re take and went before the ARB and asked to repeat that lesson which is a month long one. I am proud of him for realizing he needs to spend more time on what is more difficult, but I felt so bad because last week he said it was very stressful for him and he was feeling homesick which didn't help. He told me that his rate is the 3rd hardest rate in the Navy and he will get through this and so looks like we will be Pensacola bound end of Sept beginning of October.
Hi all! My BU SeaBee has gone back to Gulfport for ECS then he'll join his new Battalion, 133 wherever they may be!
It was great to have him home for almost 2 weeks, but time with him really flies! And what time we had had to be shared with family and friends, not just with mom & dad. :)
Hope all is well with everyone. Have a great weekend.
momofahousefull.....wow 2 weeks!!! That is so awesome....we are hoping ours gets some time home after A school, wont know that until a few more weeks. Have not seen him since PIR. getting the blues a little.
Just talked to my son and he is doing good now in school. He loves his new instructor and the test he failed he took with his new instructor and passed!!!! He will graduate from school 9/28 and then get to come home for leave. He is putting in for Hawaii, Cali and Virginia for his next journey, but as we know he will get sent to where the Navy needs him.
Seven weeks from today is his A school graduation and I am also hoping my son will get liberty and fly home on 4th of July weekend so we might be seeing him next weekend. He is planning on it but so far the little rascal has not told me he actually has airline tickets yet. Which is par for the course for a "nuke ET student" Lol. Little details like telling Dad flight arrival times & the like can wait until classes end for the week.
Asking for prayers for our entire state of NM<, we are the driest in the country right now and have a HUGE fire in the town of Los Alamos. It is 80 miles from us but my husband grew up there, we lived there for about 5 years, we have many friends that live up there and my in laws are about 6 miles from that town. The town has been evacuated since Monday, fire started Sunday and will be at 100,000 acres by tomorrow. Where it will become the largest fire in NM history. Good thing is it has not reached the town or the National Lab, which is one of the biggest concerns right now.
mamawalrus yes I have been reading about that it is a disaster it is awful. I didn't realize the fire has grown that big. We will be praying for the residents and the fire fighters.
Thanks to everyone for the prayers! It is now up to 103,000 acres and burning towards one of the pueblos. It has burned some of their sacred ground already.
William,,,,give hugs and be sure to let us know how it goes!
New Sailors Mom---have a great time and keep us updated as well
Thanks ame7 and mamawalrus, we had a great visit over the weekend and drove my son back to the airport yesterday morning, they even let us go to the gate area and sit with him until the plane boarded. He is doing very well in nuclear field A school and will finish soon -- he will come home again just 5 weeks from now, after he graduates Electronics Technician A school and gets 10 days of leave. Since we already visited Goose Creek 6 weeks ago we will be staying home for A school graduation. I said we will visit Goose Creek again to attend his Power School graduation next April, so he better STUDY STUDY STUDY Lol.
Just wanted to share this with you guys...here is a link to what my son has been up to the past month and what he will be doing for the next couple. I was so happy to find this picture of him actually out in the fleet working......I miss this group....you all are the best support system I have ever had....Here is hoping you all get to spend some time with your Sailors soon....or calls or e-mails for those of you like me who's Sailor is currently underway.....
Hi Everyone! I'm happy to say my new Gunners Mate is HOME for 14 days! She graduated A-school on July 8 and we picked her up at the airport July 9. She will be going to Dam Neck, VA for VLS (vertical launch systems) C-school and reports there on July 25. Her duty station after c-school is Norfolk, VA -- which is really only about 20 miles away from where she will be attending C-school. It is soooo nice to have her home. As I said to some of my Navy FB Family, its like the Navy took my treasure and polished her a bit! She's different, but the same. I am so proud of her and what she has accomplished in less than a year!
cathyo - Thank you so much. I miss that adorable little doggie picture, but what a handsome Sailor and proud Mom in that picture! What is your Sailor up to these days?
Hi Ame - I just changed the picture the other day. I was having one of my "really missing my sailor days" and was looking at my pictures from PIR! Anyways, Josh finished his damage controlman training in Great Lakes back in late April. He then came home for a couple weeks before leaving for Japan. It was so wonderful having him home. He made the most of every minute visiting his friends and family and doing his favorite things. And our adorable little dog, Nani, was just estatic to have her Josh home for a bit! It was tough seeing him say farewell to her and his buddies. On May 13, we brought him to JFK and stayed with him at the gate until he boarded. Oh, I tried so hard to keep the tears in, but I failed miserably! Every time I opened my mouth to say something, I would cry! Even though I could sense his anxiety of the unknown, he was very excited about the next phase of his Navy life and being on a ship. It's all an adventure to him. So that was a comfort.
So, we get to text and facebook chat and have skyped a couple of times. He adjusted very easily and says he is GREAT and all is good. He is on the USS Essex which was suppose to be in Australia, but aftering being out to sea for a little over a week, the ship encountered some problems had was directed back to his port in Sasebo. He seems to be happy...so I'm happy too.
Yes, they certainly have accomplished so much in less than one year! I love what you said....the Navy took your treasure and polished her a bit! For me, they took my treasure and polished him A LOT :-) He says its the best decision he ever made!
Wishing your new GM the best of luck in her next phase! I hope the remainder of her time home drags on slowly!!! Keep in touch. And as I said back in our "bootcamp days"....I just love your daughter's smiling face in that picture! It always brought a smile to my face as I stalked this blog trying to get as much information as I could!!
Cathyo -- So great to hear from you and to know that Josh is doing so well! It surely takes some getting used to, but as you said, knowing they are happy makes us happy.....even when we miss them so much. We were fortunate to visit her once after PIR and of course we text and talk all the time. (I haven't had the "out at sea" experience yet.) I know Battlebuddy's Sailor is also stationed in Japan, but is in Australia right now.
Thanks for the well wishes and the same to your Sailor! They are in my prayers every night. Those boot camp days were tough, my daughter laughs at me when I shudder (and cry) talking about those days. She says, "Mom, its over." Lol! I am savoring every moment of her time home. I know it will pass quickly, but I'm trying not to think about that. Take Care and God Bless.
..we lost a Corpsman July 12th,, please keep his family and friends in your prayers. On FB you can find the web page set up for him, its RIP Aaron Ullom.

We had a facebook page for this group named Navy RTC PIR 2/11/11. Somehow the group was deleted. I created a new group named Navy RTC PIR 2/11/11 new group. If you were in the other group and still want to chat on FB then please request to join the new group and I will add you as a member. It is a closed group so only members can read the posts. We created the group so that we could mention our Sailors by name and even chat in private as a group.. Message me if you have any questions. Thanks.
Wow i remember my husband being in boot camp like it was yesterday and here we are today so crazy glad to see everyone is doing well. My sailor (husband) is going to be going on deployment soon and yet again i will not have him for christmas. This will be the second year in a row.
mdubtxmom~I wondered what happened to the FB group. I haven't been on N4M's in awhile so I'm glad I checked it out again, so I know about the new group. I requested to join, so thanks again. It was always great reading about everyone's sailors and knowing we're all a family.
My son graduated A-school Aug 2. He is an Aviation Electricians Mate. I am so very proud of him. He is home for 14 days then headed off to Norfolk, VA where he will be stationed. That will be our next vacation next year. This year it was down to Pcola to see him over the July 4th weekend. It was awesome. It's even more awesome now that he's home. Not that I see him a whole lot. He has a lot of friends he's trying to catch up with. All I know is I am one proud mama.
momofms72 congratulations and enjoy your time together that is quite an accomplishment and you should be proud. It sure is a relief isn't it? My son is scheduled to graduate from Nuclear Field A school one week from today, as a Electronics Technician. We will have him for 10 days or like you said, some part of 10 days.
Congrats to the A school graduates. I haven't been on navy4moms for a long while so it is good to see everyone graduating and even sailing. My sailor is getting close to finally graduating from Nuke A School, a week later than William's son in Nashua. My son misses his old class, but doing great. He is hoping that in Power School he will be back with his friends from his div 71. Who knows when that starts. I am looking forward to his 10 days, we were lucky to have him for a couple days over the 4th of July weekend.
Hi all,, glad to see some activity back on here...Yesterday was 8 months from the day my son left for BC, and also the day we sent him off to his duty station after his first leave home. Both times very sad and emotional for me but also makes me happy to see how much he is learning and becoming a man. He is happy with the course he is on and that is all I can ask!
TC congrats on the graduation....this was my first visit since PIR as well and it was so nice to see him. Enjoy your visit!!!
William.. congrats to your son as well!!!! Where will he go after that?
Momofms72........congrats on your son graduation! we will be heading to the east coast next summer as well to see our son! I keep telling mine he needs to get closer not further away. hahahahaha
