Yes, congrats to all of the winners of the Capitans Cup!!
Dianne - wow, I cried watching that video and I am even more excited for Friday to get here. I would also like to thank all of the veteran moms for all of their knowledge and for the new moms who shared in my pain/joy! I am really shocked that it is our turn almost - I never thought time could go by this quickly!
Now I just want to get on a plane!! Watching that video made me even more proud of my SR and the group of young men that will be graduating this coming friday! 8/26 is exactally 5 months from when I first met my SR! So it's kind of our best friends anniversary!
Anyone else packed? The animal sitter has been here and had her meeting, The vet has been contacted and alerted, my bag is packed with her stuff ready to go. I still need to get the zoom lens and filter from my friend, but other than that I am ready to go....especially after watching that video.
So proud of division 941 for winning the captain's cup! It was so great to talk to my SR for so long today! She sounds fantastic! She said she participated in the seabag event. Kind of funny because she is a peanut. She said she has gained 11 pounds and everyone is commenting on the muscles in her arms and abdomen. I am glad she put on weight because she was way too thin when she started. It's all going so fast right now. The I'm a sailor call should be coming soon, then the trip to Great Lakes! Can't wait to meet everyone at the meet and great.
Great 30min phone call from my Husband in 276 <3 Turns out getting 3rd in Captains Cup can get them a phone call too!! Soo happy today :) Cant wait for another phone call a few days from now! Everything is happening so fast.
Today's call was just what I need....I actually had a few hours of no pain, amazes me what stress & wording can do to the body, & a simple phone call can also do;) it was really niceb25 minutes with me, she even called her best friend, & her Brother too... Im coming down to earth from cloud nine so I need the Monday call to keep me going! I know she is on watch 2-4 shift so I hope I get a call early!!! Super proud of net....sad part was her Buddy got set back yesterday didn't make the run, Britts bummed she even held back trying to push her friend but realized she was slipping to far so had to step it up & the other girl didn't have it in here...Brit says they'll stay in contact....I think friends from Washington,,, & near Britts home base ;)
Jana - This is from the "Flags and Pennants..." discussion.
Battle efficiency.
Battle "E" Flag- Overall average of 4.35 or higher. Must have earned at least ONE flag in each evaluated area.
They can get the drill flag, athletic flag, academic flag, and inspection flag; all the scores are added up for an average. Then if they score high enough they get a Battle E flag
Oh i hope she passes! that would be nice I don't think britt knew that... She was really upset about it... They seemed to have clicked from the moment they got there & have taken turns picking each other spirits up! there has been 3-4 she really wrote about & I haven't found the parents yet...but I will at PIR :) maybe it's one of you...but us with no last names them providing no first names is a challenge ;)
I just was thinking about 3 months ago...I couldn't get my girl to walk 2 miles with her sick mama....but now she RUNNING a 13 min 1.5 mile lol wow they've got her in shape... She said yesterday she can't believe the muscles in her arms & legs, & no more muffin top from my little 5'2 112lb girl lol, I can't wait to see her... Shed lost weight now says she's put some on, but sounds like her teenage fat was replaced with some NAVY muscle! We can't wait to see her! Just a few more days!!!! Hooyah
Dana, I'm going shopping today with another navy mom for pir outfits.... Idk if I want to wear red, white&blue or my usual stuff from white house black market... Britt thinks I'll wear PROUD NVY MOM t-shirt.... Lol I told her I guess I better buy one... She said she will buy it at the nex for me.... & a coffee mug for dad Lol who is this child, I mean big grown-up thi king of buying for us?
I'm thrilled that some of you got phone calls this weekend! And congrats to the Captain's Cup winners. Just look at that clock up there ... Just under FIVE days and we'll be there!! Today I'm going to put some of this nervous/excited energy to good use and spiffy up the house and finish the laundry. Then Tuesday I am going to pack. I made my list last week. I do still need to print the gate passes. So the question of the day is:
What job did your SR choose when enlisting?
My son surprised us! All along he wanted mechanics. He has always been a hands-on learner, his whole life. He has always been the one tinkering on his truck, taking stuff apart. But after taking the ASVAB he was offered corpman and chose Medical Assistant... just like his momma :) I never knew he had an interest in the medical field, and I think he surprised himself. I remember one time when he was a junior in high school, he was an assistant in the metal shop, and they had a group of special needs students come in the shop to make a project. My son's student was the only one that finished a project that day. His teacher later told me that Alex was so kind and patient with the student he worked with, and that I should be very proud of him. Later I talked with him about it and I told him that maybe that was something he should think about for a career. He said "Mom, I'm not good at things like that" and I said "Well, your teacher said you were the ONLY one that was good at it."
Mine chose corpsman. Always interested in medicine. He could tell you the rhythm on a telemetry strip when he wad 2 years old. Always carried n ace wrap in his school bag...someone would twist an ankle, and he jump to it. So proud.
My fiancé will be an information systems technician.. He was always liked computers, so this will give him the opportunity to work with a bunch of different programs and such. He will go to Pensacola for IT training. :)
Just sent out a "group" message. Conflicting BattleStations dates for 818/819. Please message group or me if you have heard dates for these divisions. Still waiting to hear dates for other divisions from you all. Have one for 281/282, but it is a bit unusual so need confirmation. I can only get that from you all so message me or the group if you hear. No posting dates here on the board please!
My daughter will be going to school for CTN. It's my understanding that the school is very difficult and a lot of sailors dont make it through the program. I'll just have to keep my faith that all will be well!
Wondering why there aren't any post on Ship11 Divi 273 since August 12? Just a shout out to all those Mom's too. Hope everyone enjoys your up and coming loved ones graduation. You all deserve the special hugs and love you will get from them. Be safe and God Bless America.
Now, I should have read all the thread before commenting!!
My SR is a Social Worker and is wanting to persue a doctorate in Developmental Psycology (PsyD) to working in a private practice setting. (for kids). He will be FMF...attached to the Marines. He is reserves, so I'm not sure how deployment factors in...but he brings up the possibility quite a bit. I'm not sure what FMF stands for exactally but I know if Field Medical something....What C school are your SRs going to?
ok, now I'm lost!! Was on here, somewhere and seen lanyards for 7/272 grad date 8/26 and want to get one, now I can't find the page where it was at!!! Anyone know what I'm talking about? Then I got caught up in a 7 minute brief video of what to see at the graduation, and started crying my eyes out!! Who would have thought that a son could bring out so many emotions of being a mother? I am so proud of Sailor Myers, and can't wait to see him this coming Friday!!!! Investing stock in the Kleenex company by the way :)
My SR's job is Logistics. Pickins were very slim her in GA when she went to MEPS. She wanted to be a Corpsman, but there were no jobs available at that time for females, only males. She hopes it will be temporary, she wants to study Physcial Therapy.
Thanks, seachelle. I have 4 divisions going tonight, 3 tomorrow night, and 2 from this group Tues night. I will send another Message to Group with that info now.
My SR job is also Hospital Corpsman. He really wanted a job that had something to do with being on a submarine, but is color blind, so that limited his job choices. I believe more specifically he wants to be a field medic with the Marines. He will be going to A school in San Antonio. At first, wasn't too thrilled about that, because he wanted to go out of Texas, but his mother is thrilled. He will get his chance to get out of Texas before long.
Well I am packing tonite, working tomorrow from 10-5 and then driving tomorrow night to my best friend's house between Houston and Galveston. We will go pick up the rental car early Tuesday morning and be on our way. I have my blue candles packed and will burn them in the hotel the night he runs Battlestations. Hopefully I will get the "I'm a Sailor" call before I get there! Stacey-if our division gets to make calls tomorrow while I'm at work, tell your SR to tell my SR that I love him, miss him and will see him soon!! This is so exciting!! Can't wait!!
Well my SR is an Aircrew man - I'm not sure what exactly that is but it's what he chose. I know when he did his ASVAB, his recruiter kind of pushed him in to going sooner than what we thought he should have and I believ he stressed himself out and did not do as well as he did on his pre-test but he decided to keep the score and this was his choice.
I'm getting anxious for those that go tonight - only 35 minutes before their "test" starts. My blue candles are lit for all tonight!!
Sent a "remainder of BattleStations schedule" message out to all a couple of hours ago. Check your PERSONAL emails for it...not emails on here. Hope all got it! I'm pretty sure this one is now accurate.
oh, okay. thanks! So 8:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m. I guess I thought maybe it was later because everyone has been saying the calls are around 2:00 or 3:00 in the afternoon... I just assumed they made the calls close to after their capping ceremony (which I also assumed was right after they finish BS)
Thanks Kyles Mom for the words of encouragement! That actually makes me feel a little better hearing someone say that if they didn't have it then they wouldn't have made it this far! Good night all - my candle is staying lit for all tonight!!
Waiting for our "I am a Sailor" call. Phones at our side. Thank you to all those who were part of our son's training and showing him just what he is made of. With that said God Bless the United States Navy and God Bless America.
caylex: They have chores, etc to do after the capping ceremony so they don't call until usually around 2 pm GL time...or later. Phones ready all day today though for the 4 divisions that went last night! HOOYAH!
And yes, KylesMom is correct. They sign a confidentialty paper (or take a pledge? Can't remember) to not disclose all that went on in BattleStations.
