Dear Shirl, I am sure it has been very hard to stand by and not be able to do anything! Sometimes it is events like that that will make them better sailors and men! After all, we learn to walk by falling down.

  • ProudNavyMom#1

Txgal-Donna, I am just done reading all this mess about the underage drinking and can't help but be worried.  I know they are all grown up and all but i am concerned about my boy.  I just tried communicating with him and have not been able to talk to him.  Would they take their phones away too? I hope he is just busy talking to his financee' and not be one of the ones that got carded.  Lord have mercy!

  • mrsb

Txgal, I heard from my son today as well-well ok, I texted him first!  But he said they didn't get yellow carded, so that is a good thing.  Still not sure what it is exactly!  I'm sure those who got caught will get some kind of punishment.  Prayers that they won't do it again.

  • shirl

Thanks all for prayers, my son did learn and will not ever do it again, he has grown spiritually as well as grown into a man taking full responsibility for his dumbass decisions, sorry about that word but that is how he describes it and to an extent he is right. Just warn ur sons if they will listen it is no fun getting in that kind of trouble, luckily my son never drives and drinks, but alcohol as I told him can be the Devil in disguise. We made it through so did he, but it was hard.
  • ProudNavyMom#1

Dear shirl, God bless your Son and your family.  One of the N4M ladies mentioned on a post and I hope this helps, that it's better it happened to them now while they are starting their career in the Navy rather than later. Thank God you have all made it through.  Big NMH to you my dear.

  • shirl

Proud navy mom 1 , yes I am glad it happened now, thanks for ur support, I was not even on here for a long time it was hard. We are better now and he is happy , well most of the time.

Good Evening Annette - Tensions are running the gamut in this training school.  It is cold, these guys have studied so hard and are tired, cars don't start, they are getting cabin fever, some are not feeling so well, they are away from home and family, they are getting lectured constantly and it is frustrating as all get out not to know which boat you will be on, where you are going, what happens next.  Tensions are flaring and some are not taking it too well.

I am so sorry your son was involved in a skirmish of sorts and I hope nothing got broken in his face, adding insult to injury as they say.  God bless all our guys and girls and keep them strong and out of harms way.  We love them so.

I guess if they make it thru training, they will be ready for anything. Stay strong - you and your son have my prayers.

  • OklahomaMama

My son is taking his first test today in his A school for sonar. His 2nd in his class right now. First is only 0.4 points ahead. He's done great on the quizzes, but is so nervous about the test. Lol I'm thinking of burning my blue candle. I've got my Scentsy Navy warmer on with his picture next to it. Please keep your fingers crossed for him. Also, I've been catching up on posts... My son said there have been a couple incidents with heroin on base. I was shocked and saddened by that. The underage drinking is pretty rampant as well, but I never expected to hear about heroin twice. My son's barracks are getting inspected quite frequently and the random drug tests seem to be more frequent. Hopefully that will help with the problem. I know they are so stressed and can't do much but study, but I hate to think that some of these sailors are losing their careers before they even start.
  • OklahomaMama

Annette your son is in my son's class. I'm so sorry for what he's going through, and having a test tonight. He asked my son to take him to Walmart last night. If he needs anything let me know. My son has a truck and is happy to help.
  • Navymom26

My heart is aching for all the Moms here who have sailors in trouble. Mine son is a long way from home. We live in GA. And I can't imagine being so far away and having him in trouble and not be able to help. I know they are all grown up but they are really still just kids. I hope all turn s out well for everyone and their families. Prayers to all!!!

  • mrsb

OklahomaMama, I too have heard about at least one heroin episode but a lot of underage drinking.  They really should know better but some just don't I guess.  That was nice of your son to help Annette's son.  I hope all goes well with the test, for all of them.

  • shirl

Oh Annette my heart goes out to you, I hope your sons face heals. I hope all goes well with the punishment phase, my son went through that for other reasons it was hard, they are all learning and Groton is harder because they are all schooling . They also have more freedom, and it brings more temptation , I am talking about the alcohol. Praying for all of them .
  • Annette

Please ignore my posts, I have deleted them, do not talk to your sons about them, or make any further mention of it please. Thank you.

  • ProudNavyMom#1

Will do Annette.  Please know you and yours are in my prayers.  Extra prayers for all our boys in Groton.  God bless us all

  • S Oregon mom

Here's to all the best for our sailors, they need to be smart and safe. Be smart boys and look out for your group. To the moms,  We raised them let's hope all their goals come true, and god bless each and every one of them for serving our country!

  • navymom2013

I guess I will call my son today,  It is raining here and cooling down and I miss that guy.  He never calls me anymore, he waits for me to call him and I never know when he isn't busy or testing.  I am doing income tax and very busy but I always have time for him.  I guess he getting along OK because I sure would be hearing from him if he were not.  That is when we hear from our kids the most, you know. LOL Keep saying prayers, girls!  Our sailors can always use them. Yesterday was free for all military day at the Plant City Strawberry Festival and I had the most fun just saying thank you to everyone that served. Even the cows had flags on them at the steer show.  My son is itching for a new Ford truck and I took pictures of myself inside one of those Raptors he wants and with the hood up.  I am sending him an email with the pictures saying I got one, as a joke. It is a good thing he has a good sense of humor. Strawberries $5.99 a flat YUM!

  • mrsb

navymom2013, 5.99 a flat?  Geeze, I wish I was there!!  The strawberries out here don't taste like anything yet and they are never that inexpensive!  I made the mistake of spoiling all my kids-they won't eat any jam but the strawberry jam I make every year.  Anyway, sounds like a fun time you had yesterday!  :)

I am also hesitant to call my son; I know radio has started and he's busy with that and I don't want to interrupt.  He did say that it's a great class and he's learning a lot and that it's very cool!

  • ProudNavyMom#1

Navymom2013 you are so funny. Poor guy is going to want the truck even more now! Haha. Do you text? Can you text him? I'm always texting mine. Just to let him know I love him. Praying for him. Hope he is having a great day. He answers when he can. I'll catch him on FaceTime Every once in a while and that just feels my heart. I get to see him real time!! Sometimes I call him. He doesn't call much but I'm ok with that bcause we text often. And boy his I love you too mom goes a long way in my book ;). I love that boy!
Strawberries at that price sound great!
Mrsb you make your own jam? Yummy. I was never any good at cooking so it never ceases to amaze me when my kids say they want me to make the yummy dinners they grew up with me making??!! Seriously? Haha I love them all so much.
S Oregon mom thank you for the blessings.
  • FATHOMOM

Does anyone know if the Sailors get off on Good Friday? My son asked a while ago and they said that they usually get off then but because of the snow days they didn't know.
