I emailed you Dillionsmom..and its great idea to tell our SR's to see where others are from as maybe some of them are bunkmates etc and us moms know each other

Also read here or on bootcamp group about not too thick letters..the questionnaire i printed out came to 5 pages and is 2 stamp worthy..now im wondering if i should send it..ive already sealed it but maybe ill just open it sep pages and then mail..hhhmm thinking ..what to do ;]

If the letter is to thick what happens?  Do they open it for them to make sure it is only a letter? 

Ok as bummed as I was went I got home from work and checked the mailbox and still no letter it would be even worse if I couldn't at least read what your letters all contained.  At least it gives me insight to what is going on in his world.  Hopefully we'll get a letter soon!

I guess they are keeping division 941 awfully busy - no letters to home yet! Makes me sad to not be able to hear what they are up to...I will be patient. At some point I would guess they would make them write home?

Ugh! I feel sad for you Race's Mom! I think we mom's suffer right along with our sailors! We love them so much and we wish the best for them. Let's hope the worst that happens is that he gets set back, but gets to stay in! Lots of people have allergies. These young men and women want so badly to serve our country and make us proud! It is amazing the courage they have at such a young age! It is very admirable.

There are a lot of posts of different addresses like 3505  instead of 3405. It is okay, they say the letters will go through. Very strange!

Yes, the letters should get there, as long as the address is "close!"

I have sent all of mine to the 3505 address- my SR sent a letter with 3405- but he said he was getting my letters.

I think you have the totally right attitude about this, Race'sMom!  And....I too would be claiming the "no news is good news!"  Hopefully, you will have an answer soon!

Okay, my SR did not include his week/day in his letters.  Does anyone happen to know what week they're about to begin?  It is Monday - Sunday, right?  Just trying to figure out what he'll be up to this week.  Also, it was lovely to drink my coffee this morning and imagine him writing me a letter before church.  Happy Sunday, all! 

Greta:  Brother divisions will be on the same week/day as they train together.  261/262 will be the furthest along....267/268 bringing up the end.  Their day 1 can be any dayof the week....Monday through Friday.  Weekends/holidays do not count in the day count.  They are on HOLD during those days for training purposes. 

My best guess right now is that the lowest-numbered divisions are in the middle of training week 1.  There are 6 training weeks...they have completed training by 6-5 (week 6/day 5).  The lowered-numbered divisions may have a week of bootcamp after BattleStations before PIR....the higher-numbered divisions may just have a couple of days after BattleStations before PIR.

Best way to find out is this:  Ask your SR!  Either in a letter or if you get a call.  Find out what week/day that was.  Write it on your calendar.  Since there are no holidays for this group, they will only be on hold during weekends. 

Racers'sMom:  I think you may have bootcamp weeks mixed up with training weeks...remember, there are 8 bootcamp weeks.  They have processing days before training weeks start and like I said below, some "down time" days after BattleStations.  267/268 most likelyl is starting training week 1 this week....my guess is the middle of the week.

The bootcamp weeks and training weeks can seem so confusing. And it is hard on us moms to accept the fact that even thought they have been gone for a week or two they are only on week 1 of training. It took me forever to understand all of that. And I know it wasn't until after my Sailor was already out of bootcamp lol.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday. Today is my step-daughters 18th birthday. So I have been cooking and cleaning all day. We have lots of family and several of her friends coming over. We are having fresh Red Snapper caught while on vacation a couple weeks ago :-) Also grilled asparagus, homemade fruit salad, potato salad & baked beans, cheddar bay biscuits and of course birthday cake. I love grilled asparagus but this will be the first time I have ever made it. I watch this show called the chew and get some of the most AMAZING recipes from there. I love trying new stuff and I love to cook. The good thing is we have a rule here that whoever cooks doesn't have to clean up lol. So, you can see why I love cooking!!!

Ooops....nope....thinking that 267/268 may be just about a day behind you, 808mom....so they would have started week 1 last week also, finishing up this week. It is even possible that they are on the same day as 265/266 is.  Sorry about the mistake below!

Okay, I'm looking at his letters now and it does say that he had 5 processing days and that P1 was on 27June 2012.   That would make 2 July their first training day.  But they had 4 July off.  Here's where I get fuzzy.  That would mean that training week 2 started on 10 July?  Which would put them starting Week 3 this Tuesday.  Is that right?

Greta:  I think that has them finishing up a few days too early.  This is Div 264, right?  By my estimation, they should be on 6-4 by about 8/15 or 8/16. 

Greta. if P1 is the first day of processing....and they started processing on June 27th according to his letters--they would have finished processing days on July 3rd (remember, they don't process on weekends)--then seems that their 1-1 (week/day of training) would have been July 5th because they would have been on "hold" for July 4th...which means 1-1 on July 5th.  That would have them finishing up right when they are supposed to.

So, would 265/266 be starting week 3 this thursday?  I'm so confused...lol

 :-)  Sorry, MamaB.  Determining the training weeks can be very confusing.  I work back from their projected BattleStations date.  In that case, 265/266 should be starting training week 2 this week.

Remember, there are only 6 actual training weeks.  They have completed training by 6-5 (week 6, day 5).

My son arrived at GL on June 26th...do I count that as P-1 or the next day since it was later that evening when he got there?  If I am counting right that puts week 6 ending around August 15th or 16th with PIR on 8/24.  He is ship 11/div 262.

ProudMom:  Really, the best way to know is to ask him when he calls/writes to let you know what training week/day he is on that day.  You can keep track after that. I will say that 261/262 will be the first divisions to complete training in this group.  This most likely will happen around Aug 16th/17th.  So I think you have the right timing!

diannep: Thanks for the information.  I am still waiting for my first letter, but I know some in his division sent letters last week.  Hoping this week is my week to get a letter.  Thanks again!

I have a question - my son's dad and step mom will be going to graduation also. They are renting a car and would like to drive in to the graduation.. 

We too are driving to the graduation, can the pass?I get be shared with his dad in another car?? hope I made sense...

Yes, it can be shared, ram.  You can print as many gate passes as you need.  You write in the info.  So make sure that they have one. 

Also, on the rental cars,  they need to have the copy of the rental agreement in the car when arriving at RTC, and if opting out of the rental car company insurance, they need a copy of their personal insurance card.

Good morning, well almost good afternoon here lol. I took my daughter to her last appointment with her pediatrician this morning. Her last check up before college and now she is all grown up so they won't be able to see her again. It was so sad :( 

I need to make some friends in Wilmington NC because I have a feeling I will be visiting there a lot lol.

37 days!!!!!  this is going faster than i expected!  YEAH!  bought my plane tickets, motel booked, getting so excited and ready to see and hug my SR (and soon to be SAILOR)  :)

Someone asked about the Navy Lodge in a discussion..thought I'd add this:

Here is some additional info on the Navy Lodge:

I stay military when I can...hubby has been AF Reserves for 27 years, son is the Sailor...so I have dependant ID. You don't need it for this Navy Lodge. You tell them it is for PIR and they may ask for your Recruits Name and Rate (Navy enlisted have "rate" not rank...it coincides with their pay grade E-1 to E-9 for enlisted. E-3 is the highest rate they can "rank up" too in BC). They may also ask you to bring them by to verify...but I always forget if that is enforced.

It is clean, I did not get a kitchenette as those are first come first serve. We had to queens and a rollaway.TV with DVD player, microwave, small fridge etc. Had nice furniture and a lobby with a fireplace. Hot coffee 24/7. Vending machines (variety...even one with alcohol! You have to get tokens at the desk for this.) Coin laundry, You can buy Computer time (these look exactly like the ones I saw in Recruit phone Computer room at the NEX) and pay for printer usage. Computers are in front of the elevators on each floor. WiFi has a charge. They do not have a Shuttle Service...but you can ask to arrange for a taxi...again here is where Sarge can come in handy!(SARGE AT 847-212-0246)

Lobby has DVD's for rent, post cards and a Curio with some Navy items for sale. They will give you a temporary pass to use at the small NEX down the road...there is also a gas station (don't need a pass for that).

It runs about $65.00 a night...no tax.

They do a brown bag breakfast daily...was great for PIR. Bagel, cream cheese, chewy granola bar and large OJ...all in this bag:

The NL is about 1.5 miles from RTC. It is not on base but it is in some of the base housing area.

briesmom- my son is very out going silly and funny guy but he does take his goals serious but he work during h/school at a dr. officee and a respatorie company and loves people i think he is just havin to suppress his personality right now
