well he left after a great weekend together!!!!! now starts the new count down! so who all as loved ones in this class....
  • jesspoo05

my bf has been there since the very end of oct. and i just moved out here at the begining of dec to be here with him. he is also stationed here after FMTB. otherwise i would have waited till he was done to move to be with him. and yes they do spit them up by last name. and there are 3 different sections. my bf's last name is almost at the end of the alphabet. but there is a good chance that our loves ones know eachother. can't wait to talk to everyone about how things are going with it all! nice to know others are going through it too! also nice to be able to share infor on things we can!!
  • jesspoo05

yeah, i think my bf is a little worried. but i know that he knows he will do fine! it is one of those things that doing it kinda sucks and they don't really want to do it over again. but once they are done and they have stopped yelling at them, they realize that it was actually kinda fun!!  i just can't wait for it to be over!! anyone planning on going to the graduation or is it to early to tell? since i am like 20 mins away it would be silly if i didn't go! but my bf is saying that is doesn't last long and he has to go check in right away and so on... i think he just doesn't want me to make a big deal out of it. but IT IS!! it is tough! i am just here to support him no matter what!!  good luck to all of our Corpsman!!
  • Pam

Good luck to all your Corpsman getting ready to start up the next class of FMTB!!
  • JudyB.

Good Morning New Moms & My FMTB Moms,  I want to Wish You All successful journeys through this phase of your Corpsman's Navy Career!!  I know You are All Very Proud of your Corpsman that they have come so far in such a short period of time and that if you think they need you any less...this is far from the truth, because this part of their journey is the toughest physically, mentally & emotionally!! I believe this is where they put those "MAN" britches on and endure the most unpleasantness (physical discomforts out in the elements).  So just as we encouraged & supported them before, so are we to be there for them now!!  With much Love & Luck and most of all may they go learn with God!!
  • Joan F

Thank you Judy, I am praying this also. My son was already thinking about the getting up early, and now the studying again. Our last name starts with F so think he would probably be in the first one but who knows. Well ladies here goes the crazy roller coaster ride again, glad to have you on it with me!
  • jesspoo05

well first day done with FMTB. my bf just text me!! i am thrilled! i thought with everything going on it may have been a day or 2 till i heard from him! they had to muster last night to make sure everyone was there and so on. he said it lasted for 4 hours!! ouch! i think it was at 20:00 and that means it didn't end till 0:00 and they had to up at 03:30 and got off at 19:00. nice long first day... oh boy here we go!! can't wait till it is over!! good luck!
  • Pam

JLC - they love the new boots.  So comfortable for the miles of marching that they will do!!  Lack of sleep is a big part of the training so they learn to crash when they can.  We heard from our son a lot in the evenings except when they went on field trips.  It is similar to A School as far as Liberty goes.  He was even able to tour San Diego and LA a couple weekends.
  • 2proud4wordsnwv

My son and some of the other corpsman he has met managed to go out to a bar and sing karaoke!!!  Talk about a bonding experience!!
  • jesspoo05

I can't wait for the days he has liberty! does anyone remember when they can start coming off of base? i think it is about 3 weeks or so, but he said something about it maybe 2 weeks. he texted again about 7pm. seems that is when they may get a break. said they got fitted for their uniforms. and they did a pfa today. didn't mention anything about the boots yet. i am sure they are all exhausted. said they would avg no more then 5 hours a night. i feel bad for them! it makes mom's worry but is also makes gf's worry too!!!! well day 2 down!! day 3 awaits....
  • jesspoo05

they got their gear today. although i asked about the boots. he said they were nice but they don't get to wear them for about a week or two. said that today was pretty okay but they have to stand at muster at 5 am in the cold. ick! said they have the first test on monday. hope they all can sleep and study over the weekend!!
  • Joan F

Here they go with new uniforms, wow. Can't believe they have to spend so much time mustering. Back to worrying about tests. Hope they all get some sleep tonite.
  • jesspoo05

I am surpised about the muster length as well!! My bf was texting for a bit last night when he was doing laundry. Then stopped... my guess he fell asleep for a bit and then had to muster again.... of course. and now it is a little passed the time that he usually texts me... so i am hoping that they didn't get in trouble or anything. I am sure they are just really busy and getting put through the ringer... hope all is going well with all of you!

  • JudyB.

jesspoo, Your guess would be right and roll some duty in the mix to...and these poor guys don't know if their coming or going...I feel so sorry for them at the on set of these journeys, that's why their know as the "Few Good Men". lol
  • dmc20 (ship 7, div 282)

Jesspoo5...i haven't heard from my bf all day today which is a little nerve wrecking but i'm guessing they had a long day today and it might still be going...

It's only been 3 weeks since he left again and it feels like SO much longer! These 2 months and a half couldn't go by faster!

  • dmc20 (ship 7, div 282)

Heard from him at almost 1 am! Said they were woken up randomly at 2am and had been at it ALL day! He sounded so exhausted but they weren't done yet! I heard him tell another guy that they couldn't take showers yet. He text me this morning before leaving his room and said they got one hour of sleep! Call him crazy but he did say he was exhausted but had fun lol!
  • jesspoo05

dmc 20- glad you heard from him. sounds like you heard from yours more than i am hearing from mine right now. but he did text me night. said that once he was done with the regular stuff they had their field day. and that lasted till 2330 and then got woken back up at 0300 for more field day. and i guess yesterday was 'hell" day when they come in and wake them all up banging on the racks and yelling then "beating" them for a while. but i am glad that the first week is over!!! one week down 7 to go. and i couldn't agree with you more about these weeks going as fast as they can!! and yes that maunal is helpful! it is now on my desktop for easy access!! looking foward to phase 3!!! just wish it would hurry up!!
  • 2proud4wordsnwv

The latest text message from my son.....Week 1 FMBT Secure.  Gotta keep 'em short and sweet!

  • jesspoo05

yay for week 1 being done!!!
  • JudyB.

Linda, It's kinds of yucky weather out here on the coast anyway this weekend dropped about 20 degrees from yesterday and it's Grey and cloudy...not much sightseeing weather. lol
  • Pam

Not sure if this new class will get the round of shots like my son's class did, but he was sick on and off the whole time he was there.  And part of it, I'm sure, was what they were put through.
  • jesspoo05

i am sure that with the lack of sleep they get and the intense pt they get sick all over again like boot camp... just another reason to worry! it was pouring rain for about an hour or so. but that has stopped. it is supposed to be kinda gloomy the rest of the week here but i hope it doesn't rain. my bf said that wouldn't get to use the new compfy boot for about a week or so. so i am hoping that means that they wouldn't be in the field or outside that much. hopfully it will get a little nicer out before then! anyways test one is tomorrow!! good luck to all of your loved ones!!! my bf said that there is about a week to a week and a half between the tests. not sure if that helps answer any questions as to when they are. said that there was a mandatory night study tonight..... bring on week 2!!
  • dmc20 (ship 7, div 282)

Yep my bf is currently in the night study right now. Excited for the start of week 2 but it feels like he's been gone for a lot longer!

Good luck to everyone who has their sailors taking test 1 tomorrow!!

  • JudyB.

Good wishes go out to all Corpsman taking their first fmtb test tomorrow!!
  • Joan F

Sounds like they have been very busy, heard briefly from my son last friday. Sounded tired. Will have to get used to stressing out about tests again. I have been off for few days having surgery but back on here and praying that we will all get good news.
  • dmc20 (ship 7, div 282)

JLC I will keep you updated with anything new I hear from my bf. I get to talk to him by text when he's done with his day. Last night I guess after night study they had to march and stay in the rain...but he considered that fun! LOL! Can't wait to hear about their test today!
  • jesspoo05

joan- hope all is well with your surgery! hope you have a speedy recovery!

JLC- i will keep you and everyone else updated when i can as well! i like coming on here and talking with people going through the same things! helps keep me a little more sane from the worrying!!

sorry to all of you moms that feel like you are being left in the dust, so to speak, from the GF's. being the gf i can't say what it is like for you all. i am sure one day i will know if i have a son. although it may be hard sometimes i know that 99.9% of the time your sons def still know who to call when they want to talk/share/complain/brag too and that is their moms!! you will always be their begining rock on solid ground!!!

my bf texted me tonight. i was wondering why i hadnt heard much from him. didn't seem like him not to text me as much as he usually does. i was a little worried.... guess his cell phone wall charger broke. which explains it. he has a car charger when he can get to it. thank goodness!! anyways not sure if you have heard from your loved ones but my bf got a 98 on the first test!!!!! yyyooooohhhhhhoooooooo!!! since i didn't get to talk to him much i saw that he posted on facebook that he thought he had failed!!!!!????? thank goodness he didnt!! he needs to pass his tests so he can phase up and come off of base!! but since he wont be on his phone much i will have to rely on some of you to get more info.. so thanks!!!

  • dmc20 (ship 7, div 282)

That's awesome jess! My bf got a 94 on his test and he had also thought he was going to do horrible!

JLC- sorry you feel like that sometimes. I feel like my bf spends his free time talking to me that I constantly ask him if he's called his mom or sister lately! They will always know they have their mother with them no matter what. I think in my bf's case he gets scared that i might not always be there so he tries to keep the communication between us going....even though I tell him I am with him on this for the long run and he has nothing to worry about. Don't know if that makes sense...I'm practically falling asleep...but what I mean is that as a daughter or son we know we have our parents love forever and nothing will ever change that.

Oh and tonight my bf's platoon got to their muster station right on time that they only had to muster for like 10 min! Hopefully they get some good sleep tonight!

Everyone have a happy tuesday :)
  • JudyB.

Congratulations Moms & Girlfriend's, For supporting your corpsman the way you do that gives them the encouragement to excel....Their first scores are proof!!  Keep up the good work and tell your corpsman that the Rock!!
  • Joan F

Thanks Jesspoo I am doing ok, it is a slow road but to be expected. Did not hear from my boy but saw he posted on fb that test 1 of 5 was done so posted back that I guess he passed. Will have to remind him just give me a quick txt to let me know to relieve the worry. He doesn't have a gf so guess that makes it easier. I am glad to hear that they did well on the test, hope they all got some rest and the weather gets better, actually had some sunshine here. Has been foggy for a long time.
  • jesspoo05

    joan- glad you're doing alright!

to everyone else! sounds like we have some really smart guys in this class! great job to all of you!! i am sure you are as proud as i am of your loved one!!!

another night passes and i sadly didn't get a text tonight, any one eles hear from theirs?

my bf's phone charger broke so i hear even less from him right now... makes me sad! he has his car charger so if and when he can get to his car he could charge it. but not sure when that would be. prob only on the weekends. anyways hope all is going well with all of you!! almost half way through week 2!!

  • JudyB.

Good Morning All,  I remember Tristan expressing the same sentiment "beating US up pretty good" around the 3rd week of fmtb and the middle of the 4th week it was "All Good", they all were pretty much use to the routine!  In our case, T would tell me that when it got the hardest and he felt he could not go on...he would hear " Son, we know you can do this...YOU can do anything you set your mind to; Mom & Dad are following behind you and will pick you up when you want quit".  That seemed to give him the extra 2nd wind to go on!! If I can stress anything right now, it would be encouragement!!  Have a nice Day!!
  • Pam

My son was the same as JudyB's.  The first couple of weeks was rough, but then they start having fun with it.  A lot depends on the instructors.  My son really liked his instructor, so that made it much easier for him mentally.  You won't hear too much from them until they start getting nighttime/weekend liberty.  They are exhausted!  Unfortunately, that is one way to "teach" them the stress of the battlefield.  Sleep deprivation is used as a training tool.  But they'll survive and they will see how strong they really can be!!  In fact, I got so used to sending care packages when my son was in A School that it just about drove me nuts that he said absolutely no packages while he was in FMTB.  I did, however, send him a box for his birthday.  What a way to ring in your 21st!!

I'll be thinking about all of them.  I know it's rough, but once again, just like bootcamp, you will be amazed at the transformation that happens.  Talk about being buff!!  My son came home with huge muscles!!  In fact, now that he's at his duty station he has kept up the routine and hits the gym every day.

    Good luck to all!!

  • 2proud4wordsnwv

Haven't heard from our son in several days.  Getting more than a little nervous.  His birthday was Monday and he wasn't able(?) to respond to any of our late evening texts so..... Feel like we are back in BC!!
  • jesspoo05

got a text from my bf tonight. just what i needed to hear!! all it said was "i love you and always thinking of you". i was/am sooo happy to hear from him! as it goes for most everyone, i am in love with my best friend so i know you all know how hard it is when you can't talk to them!!! so yesterday i wrote him a message on facebook that he could read whenever. not srue if he has read it or not. prob has with a text like that. but if he didn't read it yet and still sent that text it is even sweeter!! over half done with this week now!! yay! hopefully will get to talk to him on the weekend!!

thanks to everyone on here that keeps us all sane... well as much as can be!!

  • Joan F

My son txt me last nite and said it was a boring day and he was sore. Told him about how some Mom's said their Sailors came out buff but he didn't respond to that. Don't know if he fell asleep or what lol.
  • Joan F

Wow Carol, 100 lbs and I am not even allowed to lift anything over 10 lbs right now. Husband keep yelling at me as can't just sit around and do nothing, but making pancakes is not heavy lifting right? Thank goodness for the young and strong Sailors we have.
  • Pam

I know when we picked Jamie up from the airport after FMTB, he heaved one of his bags onto his back to carry.  Now that bag's seams were stretched tight and he swore it didn't weigh as much as the pack they marched with did.  I just looked at him, politely rolled my eyes and went and got a cart!
  • JudyB.

I remember T describing to me that when he had his pack on climbing the monster hill on the 8 mile climb that he said he was leaning so far forward he could just about touch his boots and that if the corpsman in front of him stopped or slowed down for any reason; thay would all come falling down like domino's. lol
  • dmc20 (ship 7, div 282)

Just another reason for me to hit the gym then huh! lol I remember my bf's seabags when he came home from a school and he wanted me to carry them...I couldn't even lift it an inch off the floor!

I was able to skype with him Tuesday for awhile until he had to go muster so that was nice and hopefully we can do it again this weekend :)

Hope everyone is having a good week! It's almost over...it actually went by pretty fast for me!!

  • jesspoo05

i have too been working out a little since he has been gone. of course no where near as much as they are working.

i am glad you got to skype with him!! mine sadly left his comp at my apt. i hope you get to talk to him more this weekend. i hope we all get to talk to them more this weekend. didnt hear anything tonight so far.

my week has gone by pretty quick too actually! alot faster then last week!!! just hope the next week goes even faster!!

  • Joan F

Well just think they are 1/4 the way through this, wow seems like it was just yesterday that we were still counting down when it would start. Hope you all have a good weekend and hear from those Sailors. The only way I have heard from mine is by txt him first.
  • jesspoo05

yay for another week down!!! congrats to all!!
  • Joan F

Talked to my son last nite and he said that a lot of guys were sick and had pink eye. He had a cough and sore throat, thinks it is from mustering early in the morning with no jackets and freezing their tails off. Prayers out to all the Sailors for speedy recoveries and to pass this next test so no more late mustering. They are exhausted and he was falling asleep on the phone with me poor guy.
  • JudyB.

Don't we just LOVE our Corpsman, they are real troopers!!  They seldom complain when their sick, cold hungry and exhausted.  I wish all of America could take the time and really comprehend ALL that our service men and woman endure for our Nation...maybe a few extra prayers would go out to them!
  • 2proud4wordsnwv

Talked to my cub.  Says he feels great and has not been effected by any of the illnesses running around.  So thankful he has managed to stay healthy so fair.  And yes, they will be able to watch the Super Bowl tonight.  LOL
  • 2proud4wordsnwv

Carol, he is a Patriots fan so when I asked him which team he was cheering for, he said "Neither".  Oh well.  He does have a knee strain which he refuses to stop him.  Doesn't want to give any reason to be recycled.
  • JudyB.

Carol, T suffered through a tore either a tendon or ligament in his left foot All through FMTB...I guess when he was finally given an appt. to see the Doc, there were to many sick corpsman so he suffered through it! I think super high arches are just as bad as flat feet in the service. lol  At least he has high tolerance for pain or he would have been in trouble!!
  • jesspoo05

talked to my bf via text alot this weekend!! i guess they were able to come off of base this weekend but had to check back in at night i think. the person he was going to have as a liberty buddy didn't want to go out or something so my bf couldn't come off base! i wasn't planning on seeing him till next week so i am not toooooo upset. but would have been a nice surpise!!

my bf said that people are doing well, as in not getting in to much trouble or anything. also he isn't leading on to him being sick or anything really hurting on him more then usual. but i guess i will see next weekend. and yes they are all really tough! they have to be!! i told a marine that my bf was a corpsman and he said they were legit wich as the urban dictonary puts it... " sound awesome cool legitimate amazing tight sick sweet real dope hot rad epic true fresh sexy chill bro boss beast great badass nice fly serious ..."   thought that was a good discription of what he ment by it!

he did say that he hear they are starting their hikes this week. although he also said that he herd it could be another week coming up. but i can't wait till friday when i get to see him!! just need to make sure he passes all his tests. i am sure he will be sleeping and studying while he is at the apt. said cause of presidents day they get a 3 day weekend coming up! yay!! rest for them!!

hope all is going well and you got to hear from your loved ones!! 2 weeks done!! bring on the rest!

  • Joan F

Mine sounded better yesterday, guess they just needed some rest. Here we go for week 3, hope they all do well on their test this week.
