Just talked to my son.  He said the same as JLC...8 mile hike was a killer.  I asked if the guys were out celebrating, one word answer was "Negative"  Resting? "Affirmative"  Don't blame them in the least!!  So as I said in the beginning, I will not be able to make the cross country trip to graduation so I am counting on all of you that do to take lots and lots and lots of pictures to post later.

BTW, son mentioned that his orders (and everybody else's) to Japan are currently on standby due to the recent earthquake and tsunami.

  • Pam

Congrats to everyone!!!  I know they're glad it's over and now on to the next phase!!  Or as my son found out once he got to Italy, more training!!  Ha, ha, but after a three month course, he is a certified EMT.

Give them all a hug from a very proud Navy Corpsman Mom!!

  • MrsS

Ok, they got like 4 hours of sleep. My hubby just ordered a lot of fast food, then to bed. 2proud, I will take lots of pics and get them to you. Anything for my Corpsman bunkmate :)

    Monday, easy day, weapon cleaning

  • dmc20 (ship 7, div 282)

Thanks ladies for the Birthday wishes! My bf was also dead tired yesterday but was really happy to be done! Said they have a blood test to do or they can't leave so he told them to sign him up first thing in the morning on Monday so he can finish that. Its smooth sailing from here till next Thursday :)
Please take lots and lots of pictures for those of you who are going graduation! I also love buying anything "sailor" or Navy related now lol just yesterday I bought a shirt that said "I love sailors" and my bf asked why is that plural lol. Good luck to those who are driving or flying out this weekend...don't know if that's anyone just yet
  • 2proud4wordsnwv

MrsS- Thanks! I hope he finds out soon about his orders since Japan is on hold. They may have him just hang out in San Diego which wouldn't be an awful place to be but must be frustrating when you're prepared to move on.
  • 2proud4wordsnwv

JLC-Yes my son was headed for Okinawa to the Naval Hospital there.  I agree better to be safe than sorry.  I guess 900+ miles isn't all that much when the wind is blowing in the wrong direction.

My son was telling me all about the hike and the razorback ridge that was included in it.  He was explaining to me all the extra weight they were required to carry.  Made my back and legs ache just hearing him talk about it!  LOL

  • JudyB.

JLC & 2proud, My corpsman made that climb with a tore muscle in his foot and he said that if anyone in that line bent over they all would come tumbling down like domino's. haha
  • Joan F

Judy ouch that sounds painful. Sounds like my son did fine with no injuries and got the supplies I bought him before they went out. Now the funny thing is he is up in the town my daughter is living in and she is down visiting our old neighbor near where he was. Glad they are done in the field as the wind has been howling here for us and raining off and on. My daughter was rubbing it in that she wore short sleeves and shorts to class brat child. Hope you all have a great weekend and we are almost to graduation HooYah!!!
  • Pam

Just wait until you hear about Cardiac Hill.  That one was the one you only did when something went wrong.  Ouch!
  • GEZ

    Just got my phone call.

Wow. My cub has grown / matured over the last year - along with everything else last week he also took the advancement test. (He said that it was ridiculously difficult.)

Congratulations to all our cubs on making it to graduation. . .

  • 2proud4wordsnwv

My son sent me some pics from FMTB but I can't seem to get them to load on this site. Any suggestions? I'd love to share!!
  • 2proud4wordsnwv

Hope someone sees a loved one!
  • 2proud4wordsnwv

  • Pam

    Great pictures 2proud4worsnwv....

Linda - I hope you get that phone call soon.

  • JudyB.

Good Morning,  I bought the Green T-shirt that has a round emblem on the right side of the chest that says"Field Medical Training Battalion, Camp Pendleton California", then on the back in red block letters says"Devil Dog" showing a bull dog an anchor then on the bottom says "University Camp Pendleton, California".

There was also a navy blue T-shirt but I didn't purchase that one!

  • jesspoo05

Linda- I sent you my number too! I hope you get to hear from your son!

2proud4words-thanks for the pics!! i tried to see if i could see my bf..lol but couldn't tell. i can't wait to watch the dvd! my bf is already buying one, so i don't have to. will prob buy a shirt though! need one that says corpsman on it!!

my bf had to stand watch after friday. i felt really bad for him but it was the last one that he would have to do in FMTB so it is all over!! yay!! he came over early sat and slept for a while. then we went back to base to pick up a few of his friends to have over! i got to see the barracks and schoolhouse. it was fun/nice to see that! and now i have a little better idea as to where to go on thrus. but it isn't hard to find! i like getting to know his friends! some of them are staying at the base longer so i am sure i will see more of them. sadly i had to work today. my bf is at home resting up. can't wait to get off work to go home to him!

fyi-the weather looks like it is going to rain here for thursday. so bring your umbrellas just incase!!

CONGRATS TO ALL THAT ARE GRADUATING ON THURS!! THEY HAVE ALL COME A LONG WAY!!!

  • Joan F

Wow can't believe they are graduating in 4 days!! Hope the weather down there is better, thought our house was going to blow away yest and during the night.

2proud4words great pics, my son never sends me anything. I don't know if he takes any or just doesn't send me any.

Judy that shirt sounds nice, can't wait to get some, how much did that shirt cost? I think my future son-in-law is going to the graduation, he is a Marine there but has never been to a graduation.

A question for you ladies that have been to grad before. My son is in Platoon 1 so does that mean that when you are sitting watching his would be the one to my left, as in  1  2  3?  Trying to figure out seating when we get there.

Congratulations to all graduating  FMTB you have gone through alot!!!!

  • vettespace

    Hi Joan,

Yes, as you're facing the bldg from the bleachers they'll be lined up with 1st platoon to the left, 2nd in the middle and 3rd to the right.  If you get there early you may catch them marching into the bldg.  For my son's grad. (1st Platoon) he was in the room to the far left facing the bldg.  You can actually go into the bldg and say hi prior to the graduation.

  • jesspoo05

joan- great question!!! thanks!! i forgot about that part! it is nice to know! thanks vettespace for the info!
  • JudyB.

Hi Joan, My corpsman was also in platoon 1 and because it rained we were inside the building; so platoon 1 was on the left as you walked into the gym and they were facing west toward the ocean. I believe the T-shirts were 15.00 each
  • vettespace

During my son's graduation they had the DVD of their training playing on a screen in each room.  Then, shortly before the ceremony starts they'll all be lined up near the porta johns to the right facing the bldg where they'll begin their march in formatiion over to the front of the bldg.  It's cool!!!!!!
  • JudyB.

Ruth VH, HA!  I did the same thing bought extra T-shirts for the same reason! I should clarify that the FMTB building is huge and if I can remember right their are 3 large rooms and the ceremony was in the gym on the left; it was so very hard for ALL those corpsman to stand at attention for the 45 minutes before because it is such tight quarters you feel that you're only ten feet from your corpsman and want to run up and love on em but you have to resist the urge! lol
  • Joan F

Thank you for the info want to try to get close to him. PIR we ended up having to be in the upper platform and it took FOREVER to get to my son. My poor husband got left in the dust when I made it down to the floor and spotted him, he never had a chance hehe. Do you know is there a way of ordering more t shirts if he wants more? My son says grad starts at 10 and we should get there at 0830, does that sound about right to you girls?
  • 2proud4wordsnwv

My son is the one "lounging".  LOL
  • jesspoo05

hope that it is a easy day for the guys! my bf said that today was either PT or volunteer to give blood at the blood drive.... i think everyone picked give blood! lol
  • MrsS

I know my guy did! He's AB neg. giving blood is his hobby. Besides, they get snacks, he'll do anything for snacks
  • MrsS

  • jesspoo05

hi there! and yes the more the better! it is the outback that google search said for both carlsbad and oceanside. it is 2485 vista way, oceanside 92054. 6 pm on wednesday. and it is nice that you are going to see your husband! i dont think i will see mine till thrus.
  • MrsS

I had mine all weekend, took him back a 0400 this morning. We have tried to keep family life as normal as possible. So, i really need a night out to meet everyone.

    I'm so excited for graduation!

  • dmc20 (ship 7, div 282)

I can't believe I'll be seeing my bf this week already! So happy for all of us! Hope everyone has a great time Thursday at the graduation and if you are in Platoon 1 take lots of pictures so I can see and scope my bf out :)
  • GEZ

I'm really going to miss you guys after graduation. Wish I was able to be there. Anyone have a cub going to 29 Palms? What is the best group for getting the skinny on that duty station?
  • 2proud4wordsnwv

My son donated blood as well today. O- so he's a fairly popular guy!!  LOL He has 96 hour liberty is weekend.  Crazy to think this adventure is almost over.
  • Joan F

dmc will be taking lots of pics and my daughter as well so she can help me post them as not very good with all that :)   Wish could go to dinner with you but will be in Santa Clarita that day driving down to grad in the am yikes have to leave around 0500 but oh well.
  • 2proud4wordsnwv

Just spoke to my son....on hold in San Diego for a minimum for 3 weeks.  He's not certain what exactly he'll be doing during that time.
  • dmc20 (ship 7, div 282)

Oh no! After reading on here it looks like my boyfriend will also be on hold. I missed his call earlier but he left a message saying he had sweepers then watch and that there were some changes he didn't want to leave over a message.
  • dmc20 (ship 7, div 282)

Just spoke to my bf, he's still coming home on Thursday but will have a later flight instead.
If you left or will be leaving soon to graduation, I hope you have a safe trip and fun!!
  • MrsS

I was reminded that tomorrow is "Field Day". Our guys will be cleaning until 2200. Then we get them on Thursday.
  • jesspoo05

Dmc-So glad that your bf isn't on hold! I was worried when you said he had news he didn't want to leave in a message, as I am sure you were too! I am happy that it is only a few hours more rather then days! Thanks for keeping us updated!

Linda-So happy that you finally heard from your son!!! So glad that you know for sure that he is going to graduate on time! Congrats on having him help his platoon on being the top one! Hopefully you had fun in LA! Hopefully your husband will be able to get your son's car with out any hassles! Looking foward to meeting you and your husband!

MrsS-Thanks for the update on the field day! So you said that you were going to have your husband babysit and you were going to come to dinner. If he is stuck in a field day are you going to still come? Of course you are more then welcome to bring your daughter! Hope to see you tonight!!

And a quick question about graduation for those that have already been. So you don't need any sort of pass to get in? Just go up to the visitors gate entrance and say you are here for the FMTB graduation? I am a worry wart and don't want to mess anything up and not be able to get in for some reason. I am guessing that you need to show your license and registration and insurance for your car? Thanks for any info!!

Sorry I know this is a long post!! Just wanted to add one more thing.. CONGRATS TO EVERYONE!!! THE LAST DAY IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I KNOW THAT YOU ARE ALL SOOO PROUD JUST AS I AM!!!!!!

  • JudyB.

jesspoo, We pulled up to the gatetold them we were there for the FMTB Graduation and were signaled to proceed through the gate.  My husband asked where the graduation were to take place and we were given directions. We were not asked for any information ie Driver license, Auto ins etc.  But we had our available just in case!
  • JudyB.

Cassy, My corpsman graduated on 12/14/2010 at CP and I saw most in jeans and a nice shirt/sweaters, I wore a comfortable pair of black slacks and a worm dress shirt with a nice rain coat; looks like it might be raining tomorrow because today it's storming here on the Central Coast and I'm about 4 hours north of Camp Pendleton.
  • jesspoo05

Cassey-I plan to wear nice jeans and a pair of my heels that I need a reason to wear, lol! Also a nice white shirt and will have a sweater with as well. I am def brinign my unbrella becuase it is threatening to rain. Although it may be nice for the day and rain at night.

My bf mentioned something about getting some 72hr or 96hr liberty this weekend or next. Does anyone know why? Is it a holiday or something? Or is it cause of the gradutation and they get a few days? He is staying for his next station at CP anyways so he doesn't have to travel any. Just wondering.

JudyB-Thanks for the information! It just seems wierd that they are so causal about letting people in like that. It worries me some actually!! But As long as I can get in to see him I guess it doesnt matter at this moment!

  • dmc20 (ship 7, div 282)

I am glad to hear of ya'll who already arrived! Linda so glad you hear from your son and that he will be graduating!!

MrsS-sorry we missed you at dinner!
