This group is for those who have loved ones that graduated from boot camp on April 4. 2014. A place to keep in touch with each other as the sailors continue their Navy journey.
Oh nice. We are from CA. I'm am so excited because my oldest son who is also in the Navy just called and said he is most likely going to be able to attend. Needs to put in his chit. YAY!!
I got a letter from my SR today that he hasn't gotten any of my letters (dated 3/2) have any of u guys had the same experience? He sounded discouraged :(
ctz3, I am not catmom :), but Classing up means ready to start training or A School. Sailors may get to A School, but they are put on hold waiting for the class to fill before it starts.
Phasing up is the process they go through at A School to wear civilian clothes, have liberty off base etc.
I was just about to point out the difference between phasing up and classing up to ctz3 when I saw you already answered! (This time I read the posts carefully....lol!!) Thanks~~ :)
Ok, I know the last two....ellen just gave you the answers....but you have to remember not to mix up your phasing up and classing up! HAA! So much to learn in the Navy....
You have 2 in the Navy now? Wow, cool! Did your second son choose the same rating as his older brother? Schooling will probably go the same route, but there is now guarantee he will end up at the same duty station as his brother. We can only hope and pray~~
Oh, ctz3, if they have different ratings (jobs), they will probably have different schooling locations. Nukes train in Goose Creek and for a longer time too~~
Correct, ctz3! To add to that, each time a sailor arrives at a new base, for school, duty station, etc....he/she goes through INDOC which is a type of orientation to that new base.
Evening Ladies, been a long weekend worked 12 hours OT so I am exhausted. Nice to see what is going on with the SR's. Don't think she'll call, letter said they had lots to do. Which doesn't sound like they get to have some down time.
My daughter is 12, will she count as an attendee? I posted on a discussion board and got no response. I just need to know what to do. Mainly what to tell my son, he wants to get the names right on his list.
No call today, they must be busy, maybe at least a letter will come this week. Only 25 days until I get to see him.
Freedock: Read through the Family Guide link here. There is lots of into there. Also, in the "pages" up above, under the MEMBERS PHOTO BOX.
tammy: Looks like this PIR group will be in Training Week 4, Hell Week, this week. That is a very very busy week for them...lots of inspections, up early, etc. So letter writing may be a challenge this week, so if you don't get a letter, you will know why!
diannep - what day did week 4 start? does their week start on Friday? If so, then week 5 would start March 14, week 6 March 21st, and week 7 March 28th...am I looking at this correctly? I don't see room for a week 8! :)
Can you help me understand the timing of the weeks? Thanks.
caolila, Week and days will differ within a TG, the only divisions that are guaranteed to be on the same week and day are brother divisions. What day a week starts can be on any day of the week, and it will remain the same unless there is a federal holiday, which will move the day of the week by one day.
Total boot camp weeks can be 7-10 weeks, but training weeks will be 6. There is always at least one week processing, if put on hold more than a week, six weeks of training, and approx one week after training. For a total of eight weeks.
There are exceptions to that rule. Extra processing time, push divisions etc. :)
Ask your SR what week and day it is then you can count from there.
ok thanks ellen. She is div 129, so I guess then week 4 might be correct. She sounded so stressed out the last time I spoke to her, with two jobs, little sleep, and not feeling all that well. Having He** week on top of this.... mom's nerves feel like they are rubbing on sandpaper!
Good Morning Everyone and Happy Monday. I received a letter dated 3/2/14 from my SR stating he has not gotten any of my mail STILL and he left 2/4 it breaks my heart because he sounded so discouraged and it sounds like everyone else is getting mail. Has any one else had this problem? I know he writes on Sundays and i dont get his letters until that Thursday so it has been a whole week since I received his letter but it just makes me so sad. The last thing I would want is for him to doubt the support and love we feel for him back home :( any advice? I hope I hope he got my letters last week but I wont know until this thursday whether he did or not. I literally write him every day. He is in Ship 11 DIV 131
hi lovesasailor, my son said the same thing to me and i sent him 4 letters so far and he hadnt received any of them, i felt like a horrible mom, I am glad to hear i am not the only one but it still does make me sad too and in his last letter he said he wont be able to call me again until the end of the month and i missed his call a week ago..
LovesASailor, Looking at the dates you posted for mail, I would bet your letters just crossed each other, and he has received them all by now. Adding three weeks, or 21 days to the date he left, puts the date at Feb 25th. Your SRs first mail call was probably not until March 2nd, the same day he sent your letter.
For the first mail call there literally would have been hundreds of letters for this TG to sort down to divisions, and then to recruits. He probably got your letters on that Monday and Tuesdays mail call. :)
Ellen0502 thank you, that is comforting to know. This is probably the hardest thing ever not knowing what is going on and having no control over communication. Thank you for the re assurance <3
LovesASailor, I can't say how long it takes, but even with approx 5000 recruits currently in boot camp, and say only one letter per recruit each week (probably more), it is a lot of mail.
I do know if they don't always get through all the mail every day depending on volume, so a letter may be received one day, but not sorted until the next.
Natalia: The RDCs so not open their mail unless the envelope is thick or seems to have something other than a letter in it. Writing in Russian is fine as long as the outside of the envelope is in English!
...oh, I'm not ellen....but don't think she will mind that I answered this....but if she does....she will be really mad at me! :-)
LovesASailor, My son is in the same ship/div as your SR. When I last talked to him 3/2, he siaid he recieved about 7 of my letters. So, like they said, I'm sure your letters are crossing each other. You are writing the ship/div on the mailing address?

Here is a link for those two ratings
