For those of you all waiting for your ribbons from Lala, please email her when you receive them so she knows they arrived.  In the past, some ladies have not let her know if they didn't arrive....this rarely happens, but she wants to make sure you get them, so just confirm by email or by posting here on this page that you got them.  She has been doing this now for 4 yrs and gets rave reviews!

  • diannep

Melissa:  I'm not sure what your deleted post said, but if asking if they can have their own boots, they are to be in the boots issued to them, like mrsrds said.

    Good Morning Everyone!

  • Navajosunshine39

Good morning diannep and everyone else!

Had another call from my son again yesterday and thought I'd share something he said. On Friday, when he made the "I'm a sailor" phone call, he mentioned he'd been up for over 24 hours so he was very tired. Well, sometime after that call later that afternoon, he went to the restroom and figured he'd close his eyes for what he thought would be a couple of seconds, Instead, he fell asleep and was caught. So obviously he was punished - he had to clean the entire ship TWICE, mopping and washing the walls. Poor kid, but we both laughed and he said he didn't get in a lot of trouble for that small shuteye because I guess thats what was expected to happen after being awake that long. So he cleaned, then he slept.

I hope you all have a wonderful day. I'm so very excited as we only have a few more days till PIR!! Whoo-Hoo!!! (((Jumping, high-5's, and Hugs)))

  • CatMom509

Oh, boy!  Now that's a thorough lesson in cleaning for ya!!  Now you know that he can mop floors and wash walls--information to share with a future wife, eh???

    HUGS, Navajosunshine39!

    Anyone else getting excited??  :)

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

I made it to CA Sunday night  My first flight was amazing, I loved every minute of it and stared out the window almost the whole entire time. It was so so cool. Here are a couple things I wrote in my journal lol.... I've seen it in pictures but it's just not the same as looking at earth from the view of a plane..... There are circles and squares and lumpy terrain but I haven't a clue and there's no one to explain.....471 miles per hour feels like turtle speed. What -48 degrees? It's cool that you can follow the path of the flight and see so much info. I wish it would tell you what is below like the mountain ranges, deserts etc :)  Here is one of the pics I took..... Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high.....

  • Navajosunshine39

    Good morning,

Lala Ribbon Queen, I missed out on getting 6/6 PIR ribbons for me & my son.

Matt's.mom, oh yes, I'm super excited!! Couple more days. I keep reminding my coworkers of how many more days, so they're excited with me as well :)

My son from Div 189 is supposed to call today, to let me know his flight schedule of when he'll be leaving for A-school after graduation, as I'm planning to sit with him at the airport till he boards. I want to squeeze in every last seconds to hang out with him.

  • CatMom509

bunchesOmom, I hope you get your SR's call today as I know how it feels to be anxious and nervous on what is happening with them.

Got a call at 12:15 EST from Div 196.  I wasn't  home but he left a message.  They got a surprised trip to the NEX.  Said he would be going to O'Hare 1 AM Saturday morning for 6 AM flight.  He is going to Groton, CT

  • RachelL (Ship13_Div196)

My Sailor will be going to Pensacola out of O'Hare airport. He said they'll leave base at 3:30am and his flight leaves at 10am. FYI for any other loved ones with Sailors going into IT.

    Thanks Diannep! I'm so excited!!
  • diannep

Safe travel today for all leaving.  Enjoy the MeetandGreet with Sarge tonight and be early for PIR tomorrow.  Remember, you want to bypass the car line trying to get into RTC and get their quicker?  Stay to the left on Buckley (main drag to RTC).  You will see the car line to your right.  Bypass RTC and turn around when you can (road ends right past that so you have places to turn around).  Head back from the opposite way and it is a quick and easy left turn onto RTC!

    Good Morning!

  • CatMom509

    Good morning from AZ

We made it home safely yesterday. It was an awesome weekend in Chicago, and I enjoyed my time with my sailor. I spent every minute I could with him, up till he boarded his flight to TX.  It was sad for me, but happy for me too, because he's got his foundation of life he's starting to build through the Navy and I couldn't be more proud. I didn't get a chance to meet other moms who were there, and that's my only regret. But my family & I enjoyed ourselves, and I'm thankful for the memories :)

    Happy Monday everyone!!

  • Anna

How is everyone's sailor doing? Great trip to Chicago, not long enough though. Anyone from these divisions at Ft. Meade? Specifically 190? I'm enjoying getting daily phone calls but he doesn't sound too well at all. Very depressed... Any one else getting the same reaction?

  • Jstbear

My son is at A school too in Great Lakes @Nvymom4.  He's pretty upbeat.  Did he give you reasons why he's down?  Perhaps he feels alone because a lot of sailors shipped out across the country, new roommates?

  • diannep

Leaving this group now....blessings to your new sailors!

  • diannep

A School is another adjustment for them  It is another new scenario for them, and many may now be separated from their new best friends from Bootcamp (although some may be lucky to have some of them in school with them).  They are going through INDOC now on their new bases....happens every time they change base.  BUT, here's the GOOD news.  As they realize they are now back in touch with families/friends through phone/computer....and as they can now receive care packages from home, their spirits may improve!  So give them a little while!  They'll get there!

  • CatMom509

    Gals,

It's a different part of their Navy life while they are waiting to phase up and get more privileges and then class up and actually start their training!!  Remind them to focus on why they are there--to get the detailed training for their jobs in the Navy and not to party!  Too many Sailors have messed it up for themselves because they 1. are no longer living at home; 2.  have money, 3.  have extra free time, and 4.  not associating with the Sailors who are there for the right reasons.  Please, please, caution your Sailors to NOT engage in underage drinking and the breaking of serious Navy rules!!

  • Navajosunshine39

    Good morning!

I haven't checked into the N4M site for quite some time, since my son graduated.  As I scrolled down to this area, the clock that I diligently kept checking before the 6/6 PIR is at 000:00:00:00, and I have to admit that those times before that clock read all those zeros I miss. I don't know why, but it's just the feeling.  My son is doing good in San Antonio. He's adjusting good, and has already shared some funny stories about their new schedules. He's been studying a lot, so he's felt a little stress, but nothing major.  I'm looking forward to his graduation from there. Our communication has been constant and I'm happy to have that back. But my son is no longer a child. This Navy experience has been changing him in a strong, positive way, and I couldn't be more proud of him. I'm thankful for the Navy, for the experience it's providing my son. It's challenging him, but that's what he needs, and I remind him of that every chance I get.

I hope you and your sailors are doing great as well. I think of you all, everyone I communicated with on N4M's. Take care, and God bless you all.
