amity109-I too, love that prayer. If you don't mind I would like to share that on my fb page too. Thank you for posting!
  • AmandaHisNavyGirl

Heyma313- I agree it's defiantly not the first time and sure it won't be the last.
  • diannep

yulontay:  I'm so sorry.  This happened to another recent SR.  Yes, he did graduate, and then was held over for medical evaluation.  Some get cleared eventually and head to A School; others could be discharged for the condition they have if there was no waiver for it.  Prayers for your SR that it will all work out and his delay to A School will not be long.
I never have understood why a SR is allowed to make it all the way through Bootcamp and graduate before this happens?  Doesn't seem right to me.

Please keep us posted here on your SR.

  • CatMom509

    yulontay,

I pray the medical situation turns out well for your son~~

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

yulontay - Praying for your sons situation...also for you.

If your son is held over he will remain onboard RTC after graduation in THU - Temporary Holding Unit (It's on a Ship/barracks on RTC). If this happens it is possible for him to have extra Liberty time PIR weekend. Just daytime Liberty and subject to THU's rules. I believe they are allowed to have their cell phones while in THU.

I know that is not the point and it would be best for him not to be on hold at all, but just thought I would put that out there.

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

    I don't either diannep.

If they have a medical waiver for something (which yulontay's son does) and do fine in BC it doesn't seem right and is frustrating.

I could see how if they had the Medical Waiver to enlist and then didn't do well then the need for more testing but not if they did well in BC.

But that's for the "powers that be" I guess.

Sometimes someone may not have had any trouble with a medical condition in years and BC brings it out. I really think it is just all the stressors...and all the adrenaline pumping through your body adds to it. The difficulty is that if BC brings it out there is a risk of it happening on active duty.

Happy Happy dance!!! Two days until I leave and get to see my SR.  Burning my blue candle, hoping for a call soon :)

Today should be the day for 013/014/902 to make their I'm a Sailor calls!  They are finishing up now....experiencing their emotional and rewarding capping ceremony this morning.  Keep those phones close this afternoon if you have SAILORS in those divisions!

Good Morning!  Safe travel for any who may be leaving for GL today!

  • Ndlove09

My husband just called, he is officially a US Navy Sailor!!!! Ship 03, Division 014. I am elated!!!!

  • N4M10756

I have a sailor! Div 902! Keep your phone close at hand!!!
  • diannep

Congrats to the new sailors of 013/014/902!

  • diannep

smama:  Your sailor will have a seabag (large....checked luggage), a garment bag (contains their uniforms---checked luggage), and a backpack.  They have to keep up with their own luggage....no help!  So if he can incorporate what he wants you to bring into his existing luggage, it would be a good thing!  He cannot wear "civies" until he phases up at A School...takes 2-3 weeks.  Then you could ship more items to him.  Is he planning to try and come home for Christmas?  If so, he can take more back with him then.  So keep that in mind.  The A Schools go on Stand Down during Christmas break....so the sailors can route chits when they arrive at A School to try and get some Leave time then.

  • diannep

Liz:  Your sailor's division went through last night so you should be getting a call soon!

  • peejinator

diannep - what about ship 12, div 16?

  • diannep

No, they didn't go through last night, peejinator.  You will have to wait a little longer for your call!  They cannot have more than 4 divisions go through per night, and 015 can't go without 016!  So that would have been 5 last night.   But....SOON for you!

  • peejinator

Thank you diannep!  I will go to the bathroom now, I've been holding it.  ha ha

  • diannep

peejinator:  I just sent you info in a friend request.  You don't need to hit ACCEPT...just read the info!  :-)

  • diannep

Too funny about your much-needed bathroom break!

  • Tink2319

Packing the car for our trip to Great Lakes from CT! I guess we will hear from our Div 015 SR tomorrow afternoon. We should be in Cleveland by then. Congrats to all of you that already got your calls. Safe travels to all. See you at Sarge's Meet and Greet!

  • Shelly

I'm curious, when the new sailors go to a school and are waiting to class up (I heard it can be a month or more) but during that time what are the rules on visiting/liberty. I'm sorry I'm sure this had been asked before a ton but I can't find it
  • CatMom509

    Greetings!

"Therefore by Him let us continually offer

the sacrifice of praise to God that is, the fruit

of our lips giving thanks to His name."

                                                        Hebrews 13:15

  • amity109

Congratulations to all new Sailors and their proud family!!!!

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Shelly - It depends on the Command.

Where is your Sailor going to A school? We may be able to direct you to a Group on here for it so you can ask there.

Usually on Phase 1 Liberty is restricted to on-base on work days and off-base only on non-work days...but again based on the Command, it varies. It can also be changed at any time, within parameters, based on conditions at the Command and on the performance and conduct of the sailors. IOW, if they are bending or breaking the rules on liberty restrictions can be imposed and if they are doing exceptionally well more liberty's can be granted.

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Oh and there are three Phases for Liberty.

You have to meet the requirements of the lower phase to move to the second. Usually , the Sailor has to fill out a chit (paper request) to advance to next and have it approved.

  • Patriotmomofnavyson

My sailor said no one failed, the entire division is awesome!

  • Patriotmomofnavyson

    sorry, Div 902

  • marychris'smom

  • CatMom509

CONGRATULATIONS to all the new Sailors and their families!!  Safe travels to all to an awesome PIR!!

Remember, PIR is just the beginning of the Navy journey.  Keep plugged into Navy for Moms where there are groups for A school, C school,  ratings (jobs), bases, ships, states, regional, twins and multiples, and the Christian Chat that I am a part of!

Also, the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command page on Facebook puts up photos from each PIR.  If you see your Sailor in a pic or more, you can download it to your own computer by either clicking on the picture, going down to Options and downloading it OR right click, "Save Picture As" to a file on your computer~~
