  • CatMom509

    Hello All!

"But do not forget to do good and to share,

for with such sacrifices God is well pleased."

                                                    Hebrews 13:16

  • CatMom509

    Gals,

You are so welcome!  We loved helping all of you~~ Safe travels for all making their way to Great Lakes!!

  • ellen0502

Safe travels to all of you, and a happy PIR to you.

If you are driving to PIR, please be sure to pack in your car a gallon of water, graham crackers (or some other non-perishable item), and a couple of tea light candles. Can't be too prepared for the ice, snow and cold. I am from Colorado and you can never be too prepared. :)

  • Tink2319

Me too! Woo hoo Div 015. 4 hours to Chicago tomorrow. Long day of traveling from CT today. He called just as we pulled off the highway to come to ourHotel!! Congrats to everyone!

  • Tink2319

Bluera12 You should be behind us. Just some snow squalls through the PA mountains on I-80. We are just outside of Toledo now. Calling for snow. Nothing on roads, maybe 1-2 inches on the grass.

Eight weeks ago we kissed goodbye

And sent you on your way

Now the day has come we’ve waited for

    It’s Graduation Day!

No more sitting, staring at the phone,

    Just praying it would ring.

No more waiting on the mailman

And the letters he would bring.

Your days of standing watch have passed,

    And thoughts of missing home.

You have grown to take your place at last

And stand up on your own.

You wondered if you’d make it through

To stand here on this day

For all the things you’ve learned to do

With pride you now can say…

“A Navy Sailor stands before you,

    Here on graduation Day!

I have done what I se out to do,

    In every single way.”

Amity your Poem Below was just Beautiful !! I shall treadure it always !!

  • Hygienistmama

CatMom509-I checked the Christian Chat page but it said you have to be an alumni of PIR from 2011. Is that the page you mentioned earlier?
  • CatMom509

    Hygienistmama,

I don't understand when you have the correct name of the group, this site doesn't just pull up the group name!  Anyway, no need to be an alumni from 2011....I'm a 2013 one!  Here's the link...just click "Join" in the upper right corner.

  • CatMom509

    amity109,

Very nice poem!!  But they still have watch in A school and beyond....Lol!  Always missing my Sailor girl stationed across the country from me...  <3

  • diannep

    Good Morning!

  • SBMom

    Ditto that! J Freshie
  • diannep

You ladies are very very welcome!  We so enjoy helping the PIR groups!  Excited that you will see your sailors tomorrow!

Enjoy Sarge's MeetandGreet tonight, and be early to PIR tomorrow to check out different seating spots!  It gets crowded early!  Remember, gates open at 6:30!  Enjoy!

  • diannep

Driving Hint:  For those driving to PIR, here is a timesaver:

Stay to the left on Buckley (main drag to RTC)....car line for base will be on your right.  Bypass RTC and turn around at the train station right past it.  Head back from the opposite direction...easy and quick left turn onto the base!  Also those taking shuttles will bypass the car line...

  • CatMom509

    Hi Friends!

"The Lord will keep you from all harm--

He will watch over your life; the Lord will

watch over your coming and going

           both now and forevermore."

                                                 Psalm 121:7-8

  • CatMom509

    Gals,

You're so very welcome!!  Keep warm and have a wonderful PIR weekend~~

If you have any feedback when you get back that we can pass onto future PIR groups, let us know~~

    Happy Friday!!

"Which of all these does not know

that the hand of the Lord has done this?

In His hand is the life of every creature

and the breath of all mankind."

                                             Job 12:9-10

  • diannep

So, how was PIR?  Hope all are having a wonderful time with their new sailors!

  • diannep

That is wonderful news, J Freshie!    So glad that his food costs were covered!

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

    Happy PIR day!

Have a blessed time with your Sailors!

  • amity109

Nothing could 've prepared me for such amazing experiece. It was great hugging my Sailor. This was a wonderful ceremony. He just wanted to come to the hotel and relax. Talking to family in the phone and telling us BC experiences was putt activity of the day. Tomorrow heading to Chicago and dinner at Medieval Times.
Thank you again vet navy moms
  • CatMom509

So wonderful to hear!!  How is the weather actually?? As cold as predicted??

  • diannep

So glad all had such a good time!  Hope it continues today!

  • diannep

J Freshie:  I do not have a smart phone either...mine is a 5 yr old "texting" type of phone (tiny slide out keyboard).  Hard to see and type on, but I manage!  AND I get better reception on my phone in my house than my 2 sons do with their smartphones!  So I hang on to my dinosaur phone!  :-)

  • srmama

What was the good steak house sarge mentioned at the meet and greet?

  • yulontay1

Srmama: I didn't go to the meet and greet but we went to Steves. The steak is delicious and the service was really nice.
  • diannep

Another good place is called Lovell's, owned by the astronaut Jim Lovell.  Your sailor eats for free. It is a bit pricey, but we have been told by others who went there....a great place to eat a meal.

  • CatMom509

    Hello Friends!

         "The Lord has heard my supplication;

the Lord will receive my prayer."

                                                Psalm 6:9

    Blessed Sunday!

" I have loved you with an everlasting love.

I have drawn you with loving-kindness."

                                                    Jeremiah 31:3

  • jrk'smom

Thank you to all the veteran moms here. I'll be moving on, my son is already at Corry and will class up next Monday.  I enjoyed my time in GL, it was a blast seeing our old base housing from when we were stationed there previously LOL  Best of luck to all of you.

  • diannep

jrk'smom: I hope that you check back in here every now and then to share how your sailor is doing!  No one needs to leave this group if they don't want to!  :-)

  • Ndlove09

Although I am not a mom, I truly appreciate the helpful information all of you have provided on this site.  I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn more about the Navy and experience an amazing PIR weekend!! I am back home in Boston preparing myself for our move to sunny San Diego!! Thank you all again and be blessed! Go Navy!!

  • marychris'smom

Thanks to everyone for all the helpful advice!

The Meet and Greet was a fabulous start to an incredible weekend with my Sailor! We would have never known about that opportunity without this site and all of the helpful moms!!! Sarge ROCKS!!

We did eat at Lovell's and they truly treated our son Chris like a Hero!! We took the train from Great Lakes to downtown Chicago on Saturday (and FROZE!), and then had to say our sad goodbyes again as we left him in "A" School on Sunday for the next chapter in all of our lives!

God Bless you all and your families!

  • CatMom509

Awww, love all the great feedback we getting here!!  That dance contest is a new thing at Sarge's Meet & Greet!!   All you ladies are most welcome!!  Loved helping you and hope you're all plugged into your A school groups~~

  • CatMom509

    Good Day!

"But above all these things put on Love,

which is the bond of perfection.  And let the

peace of God rule in your hearts, to which

also you were called in one body; and be thankful."

                                                        Colossians 3:14-15

  • diannep

J Freshie:  We will stand united with our prehistoric phones....until they die!  :-)

Congrats to all of your sailors and now....onward to A School and their next chapter.  You all will love being back in contact with your sailors!

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

What wonderful stories you all have! Thank you so much for sharing.

Sarges M & G sounds like a blast and glad you all enjoyed it.

A heartfelt thanks to all who make this site possible. Made life so much easier all through bootcamp being able to know in advance what to expect and how to best prepare for PIR. To those I met in the smoker' s area at Navy Lodge and outside the Meet and Greet, an especially warm, lol, Thanksgiving wish to you and to all of you wishes for a happy holiday season.
