Thank you, Blondie.  I am just hanging onto the mast of my life ship now, things will eventually smooth out.  I don't know who I am without my husband.

  • Sailor97

Hi. I’m looking to find a cake shop near Atsugi Naval bass to order a cake for Oct. 22....does anyone have any suggestions?
  • CindyN

Sailor95 - Sorry, I don't have a pointer to local bakery but the USO will deliver birthday cakes. If this isn't for a birthday, I would still contact them to see if they can suggest a bakery. https://japan.uso.org/programs/operation-birthday-cake

  • Anti M

bakemeawish can do FPO orders on  some of their cakes.

  • Anti M

The only "local bakery" would be the commissary one, and they don't do deliveries.  Off base bakeries cannot delivery to base.  You might be able to find a local spouse who does baking, or have someone who works with him find a way.

    HI

Sorry I fell off the edge again and just climbed back on

Boy - has this placed been busy.

1.Yes I am listing - brain on some mode that I cannot figure out - just like my new cell phone that is SO smarter than me.  I can't even share pictures - the phone put them in some file and will not tell me!

    2. AntiM and Maggs. Very gentle hugs I am sending. If you need an ear to bend or chew off - mine is ready. I got plenty of glue.  Gentle hugs.

    3. Blondie - as usually you are out doing the energizer bunny.Hey - are you not getting ready for a trip to visit Blondie Jr.? And hope all is going well for hubby back to work.

    4. Welcome BACK - Miss and Elaine. Thank you for filling up my gossip tank. It was low - actually almost empty.  Ladies -you both have so much going on too.Hope the foot is getting better - so glad to hear that mom will be celebrating her 88 and has GOOD care now. Eliane - your son will get an awesome job soon. What a good son to help too. Know the feeling. Fingers crossed for disability to increase too.

    4. Not suppose to share yet - Will be a Yaya again in April 2019. But kids want to post first. Sorry - I need to brag!

    5. Sailor was back home for emergency leave. Red Cross helped out to get him  home. I found out through the grapevine my mom is not well. hospice now caring coming in daily. She is bed ridden - doesn't know family or friends unless they tell her who the are - and other things happening that tell me she is getting ready to leave.  I will not be able to see her though.Teh crazy things family will do to each other - so lawyer told me no seeing her to say goodby or going to her visitation or funeral. I have come to terms with it. And  I want her last time here to be only peaceful and respectful. No worries fellow pan moms. Just send me a hug and I am ok. Honest.  With the help of my sailor's command and the Red Cross - my mom got her wish - to be with both boys one more time. My sailor said it felt good to see her her one more time.

Weather here is crazy too Summer one minute and fall teh next. Suppose to rain. Like I said suppose to rain.

Well hopefully the next time I get back here - I will have pictures to share - if I can find that &*^%#$$@! file !

Oh welcome aboard Debbie !!! Start jumping in the water.

That means - share about yourself and sailor. Come here to share - brag and cry. We have plenty of hugs to share.

    Hugs all

  • T-Lynn

T-Lynn, sending you lots of hugs and love. Praying for very peaceful days for your Mom as well.   Love the picture of her and your boys.

Blondie, enjoy your trip and time with your girls.  I hope you find time to get some REST in there.  But I know the chances of that are slim and none for you.

AntiM- you are in my thoughts and prayers.. Honestly, I can't even to pretend that I know what you are going through.  Taking one second at a time is all you can do.

Raining in Mississippi this morning!  We sure needed it. Just ready for some cool fall temps.

    mom's with daughters....

  • My baby boy is now a man

Hi my fellow Japan Navy Moms. Can someone please give me a little insight on how to purchase flights from Sesabo. I know the sailors have to catch a bus to the airport, but my son gave me instructions that are not very well thought out of course. LOL!!! He is just ready to come home. A mother's job is never done. I

  • My baby boy is now a man

Of course, the tickets need to be refundable. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!!!

  • CindyN

My baby boy is not a man: Is this for his end of tour? If so, the Navy will make his flight reservations. If it is for vacation, he (or you) will need to make the reservations. From Sasebo, he will be taking the "Blue Bus" to Fukuoka Airiport. The flight from Fukuoka to the US will need to connect in Tokyo (usually Narita but Haneda) or Seoul (Incheon International Airport). Because, the flight originates in Japan, the flight may be bill in Japanese Yen. If so, he/you will want to use a credit card that doesn't card foreign transaction fees if possible.  I don't have a suggestion for a good travel site/company for flights from Japan. You can certainly try sites like Kayak.com or other travel search sites to narrow down your options. You might also want to have it try the leisure travel office on base. At some point I saw some mention of one in a Sasebo MWR post. I think it was called Sato. I found this in a google search: https://www.satovacations.com/home.aspx No idea if there are any better deals than what you could book your self by checking a few sites.  Good luck!

  • Anti M

Do not make this harder than it is.  He should go to SATO for official travel.  NEVER make your own reservations if it is travel on orders.  Let the Navy do it, and they can include a leg home and charge the sailor.

If it is leisure travel, he should go to MWR ITT and have them help him book tickets.  They can navigate the international system easily and find best prices.  If you are paying for the tickets, well, use any of the online sites.  Most of the best prices will not be refundable, you don't get cheap if you want to be flexible.

  • Kim

Like I said, my son always gets free bags when traveling leisure.  I was joking and deleted the post if it offended.

I was addressing the need to have refundable tickets.  One time when he was about to go to the U.S. on vacation, he was told that every one on the ship may be called back early.  His command told them to go to their airport and show their orders.  We do not live near a military base.

I suggest that your sailor ask his command if he needs refundable tickets.  My son was told that he did not need them, but everything changes.

  • Anti M

Big exciting news for accompanied orders!  E-3 may now bring their dependents overseas, where dependents are authorized. YAY!  Good news on certain tour extensions too.

    Again thanks for the hugs.

  • Kim

GIRLFRIEND (TLynn), many of us here have gone through this journey with you.  We have all experienced your love and care for your mom.  Your unselfish love for your mother as she became paranoid is inspiring.  Personally, I remember every post that you had on this site about your mother before the crazy stuff started.  Your devotion and care for your mother made me jealous that I do not have a daughter.  We will always have your back!

New moms....We have a rule that no one is allowed to leave us, lol.  Please jump in and share.  We are very inclusive and share with all.

  • Anti M

    That's beautiful, Kim.

  • Blondie

Please send positive thoughts to my daughter and granddaughter.  They lost electric last night, went to a friend's house this morning, left the dogs behind. Joe is still in the ME and has cellulites!

My lyme disease is active and I have mono, no wonder I'm so tires.  Fibro is acting up, could be the lyme, stress or weather, who knows!  I've gotten into mold somewhere ….my kidneys are not at 100% but improving, my heart is staying steady.  Mt potassium has improved :)  But I'm still a hot mess!  LOL  I still plan on flying next Saturday, we shall see.

Hope everyone is safe and well

  • Mississippi Mom

Blondie, lots of prayers for you and your family.  Girlfriend, you have got it going on.  Praying all gets better VERY soon.  I so wish I could do something to help.  But I sure know the power of prayer.....

T-Lynn, you are still in my thoughts and prayers.

Kim, that was a very beautiful tribute for T-Lynn.

The Christmas Box Angel Statue was introduced to the world in the book The Christmas Box, a worldwide bestseller and hit television movie by author Richard Paul Evans. In the book, a woman mourns the loss of her child at the base of an angel monument. Though the story is mostly fiction, the angel monument once existed but is speculated to have been destroyed. The new angel statue was commissioned by Richard Paul Evans, in response to reports that grieving parents were seeking out the angel as a place to grieve and heal. The monument was dedicated on December 6, 1994-corresponding with the date of the child’s death in The Christmas Box. (Coincidentally, Dec. 6th is celebrated in many parts of the world as Children’s Day).
