    Hi All,

T, October 3rd on my calendar to say a prayer for good luck.  I am so happy to hear the good news about your husband.  I love the story.

I retired July 31st.  Then they talked me into helping out to cover some upcoming projects. They gave me an up front bonus and a big raise to work 16 hours a week from home.  I figured I would try it out for a while.  The first week I was trying out my new e-bike.  I was on manual at walking speed turning around.  At the last second I realized that I wasn't going to clear the curb and forgot I had hand brakes.  My right foot tried to break and it caught caught between the curb and pedal.  My ballet teacher would be so proud of my pointed toe.  I broke 7 bones and tore 3 Lisfranc ligaments. (mid foot structure) I am 5 weeks into 8 weeks of no weight.  I have a cool knee scooter to get around.  My office is at one end of the coach and I sleep at the other end.  Have I ever mentioned that I am a klutz?

Also, they caught the escaped prisoner in Pennsylvania.  He was 2 miles from my house over the weekend.  The news kept saying he was from my town.  They caught him 7 miles from here.  WHEW!

    Check in everyone.

  • Blondie

T-Lynn, Glad hubby is doing better. Hope you're feeling better too!

Kim, what can I say.... there was a time here where there were multiple foot injuries, lets hope you didn't start something!   Sounds like a good thing you're working part-time from home.  I LOVE the fact that you change ends of the couch . Have to separate our work life from our home life.  Hahaha  Sounds painful tho. hope it gets better day by day.  we were watching the man hunt and Praying here.

My life is as always too Busy!  My oldest daughter (with 2 miracle babies) had to under go emergency surgery.  I'd been telling her the last 2 years something was wrong go to the Doctor!  And I don't often say that.  Luckily she only lives an hour and a half from me. My car and body has a lot of miles and stress on it.  She is healing now I only hope she's telling me the truth, this will be the 1st weekend I won't be going down. I keep telling the Doctor to hire someone else!  Add to that it's harvest season, 2 Church festivals that we're involved in, the Summer is passing us by! Fall is here and moving faster then I can keep up! Before all this happened, We were enjoying our summer.  Doing a LOT of wine tours some with my Sister/BIL and some with my Brother/SIL, We did a wine festival with our Son and DIL, Even di 1 with just Hubby and me :)  Planned a few other trips we had to cancel but that's alright my Daughter and her Family needed us!  Now we have 1 outing a Month on the books.  November's is a trip to Texas!  :)

Work just got crazy, HUGS to all

  • T-Lynn

    HI

Kim and Blondie so good to hear from you both. Now if only Miss and Drama  would show up - my gossip tank would be full.  that's a hint Pan Moms - Roll CALL and check in.

Blondie - I so need to find a t-shirt for you and says: " I make the Energizer Bunny look Lazy"  But good to see you did have some fun weekends.   Try to squeeze a Fun Weekend with Hubby, you both deserve it. And we know you too have these strange accidents. SO be careful !!! And please send updates about your daughter.  So hope healing is going well.  Sending positive vibes to her. And a shield of protection around you !

Kim Kim Kim. Now I know why I was thinking about you. I was riding in the car with my hubby and I said out loud: " I feel Kim'"   Hadn't clue why - but now I know. Well you know the routine here:  paint your toenails - I suggest Flaming Jamaica Flamingo Pink. And then wrap with black electrical tape. You should be back on that bike in a week.  And does anyone else see her on that couch?  At one end is a sign above it saying - " Don't bother me - At Work"  then the other end - " LEAVE ME ALONE - I am on BREAK!"   Now if you sit in the middle - ?  Just take care and share when you plan on being on a retirement trip. That's the only way we all will know you are relaxing!

Yes, October 2nd - sorry typed the wrong date - is approaching fast.. It was suppose to have been on July 3rd, but things change. That month would have been perfect - no weekend plans. Now - every weekend until Thanksgiving.  Trying now to finalize some home task, but having to babysit more and Cub Scout Events to help with - plus the biggy - Emma just has to bring something home from Day Care and share it with everyone - except Papa!

  • T-Lynn

    Part 2

Yes , me too. Doctor made take the Covid and Flu tests - both negative - just allergies.  ( I have a bumper crop of Golden rod in the back 40 that wave to me every morning) so now on an antibiotic until I see the doctor Thursday.  then we will have one weekend off - the adult kids and kids are going on a Cub Scout Pack Family Camping. I can rest some.

I am happy to say I did get some task totally done.  Now finishing small ones - except for the beads.  I HAVE to get them all in new containers so I can find them. Most are in those amber colored medicine bottles and seeing the colors I need - not working.  but to go through the 4 drawers - and tow boxes and one tube given to me of BEADS - that will be a week.  But I will not be going any where for a month - so perfect.

Last Saturday teh 16th was my cousin's birthday. We all went out to Medieval Times. First time for Riker and Emma. Both had a fantastic time - after the ear plugs were put in and they ate the food - They got to eat with their fingers and no one complained.  And Emma got to  yell loud and no one complained. She wore her Princess dress.  Naturally - she HAD to have a Princess hot with a tiara and a light up unicorn. Riker didn't want anything this time - but he saw the REAL looking swords - next time. both dropped like rocks to sleep when we got home.

Well Laundry Fairy calling.  Take care all hugs

  • Blondie

Another BUSY weekend here!  Sat. did 5 loads of laundry and hung out to dry, canned stewed tomatoes. then mowed the yard and yes we had to pick up grass, like bailing hay!  Missed Church so we cooked out and had a bon-fire (beer & wine included) then neighbor called her apple trees were loaded and she wanted to she. Not tonight!   So Sunday after Church and lunch we went apple picking (again)  Came home and did 2 batches of applesauce, took the last batch out at 10:15 pm.  So last night after working 10 hours and getting supper,  and the kitchen in order, I did baked apples, a apple cobbler and made 3 apple pies And there's still apples waiting to be done up! Tonight is another night. Tomorrow I only work a half day because I have my 6 months check up with my PC and Friday is a half day because Office will be closed. So, I'll have plenty of time to mow and garden, still making pesto too. Yum!  Then Sat. we're taking my oldest Brother and his wife and my only Sister and her hubby to a winery who's having a concert Celebrating the Eagles music (can't wait!!)

Boss actually put an add out there for part-time help, we've had 9 hits. most don't want to work the weekends or nights But a few are coming in for an interview.  My only problem is getting the Doctor on board with someone young and who wants to stick around and increase their hours as I decrease mine. Not just someone to fill in.  Positive thoughts would be appreciated.  Gotta run, pts.  need help!

  • Blondie

Busy as always. SIL fell while we were in Columbus, she was watching our dogs. I got on the phone and reached out to family, they came through. BIL went to the house late friday dogs wouldn't get close to him, he had a key and got in, I said feed them, sure enough they went in the house. He couldn't get close enuff to touch them so they wore their electric collars all night.  My niece went out sat. morning before work and fed and let them out then napped with them between jobs and went back and basicly moved in with them. SIL broke her nose and hand. But is healing nicely she's 74.

Our son has plumbing issues can't use their shower....hubby talked him through a batch , we're heading there this weekend to fix it.  Next weekend is "our" get-away" for our anniversary. We rented a cabin at the great lakes with my SIL (her birthday) and BIL. Crossing my fingers and toes!  I NEED this, Wineries are scheduled.  :)

Still canning tomatoes, apples, grape juice.... This is probably the end cause we're having frost already. Its okay I'm done with gardening!  Need to mow once more (between rain storms) .

Work is work and always busy. Still no interviews, I'm thinking she gave up because of the 2 part time helpers. But they say they will work but then call off.  :( I'm not happy,

Gotta run, I have 3 practitioners in today!

  • T-Lynn

    HI All,

Blondie! You made my gossip tank run over - Thank you

AS usually the energizer bunny is hiding in shame.  But I can just smell the apple sauce and pies ! Yuumy. Sorry to hear about your SIL but glad to hear that family came to help and she is healing.  ANd there are at least some interest in the job to help decrease your hours !!!

You Bet fellow Pan Mom - sending what  positive vibes and crossing what I can so the job and your Anniversary weekend is a GO !. Happy Anniversary wishes early.

Me - recovering nicely from right knee replacement.  Knee joint does not have must pain BUT all the muscles around it - OUCH. Those muscles are relearning to be in the correct placement and how to work correctly - all over.  for over 40 years they have been doing it wrong.  So I tire easily.  But PT therapist states I am ahead of my game again.  So I will do what I can to heal.

Sorry at my limit now.  Hugs to all and hope you all are having fun Autumn Weekends.

    Hugs

I am here! Not posting but reading posts.
My Corpsman and his family are doing really well. Not sure if I posted but I now have TWO grandchildren.  Max is about to be 3 and Ellen (also known as Ellie Bean or Ellie Belly) is 9 months and trying to keep up with big bro. I got to see them in April and, miracle of miracles, I am leaving Friday to go spend 10 days with them.
Actually the miracle was a gift from the periodontist with whom I have worked for 25 years. He asked me how I wanted to celebrate 25 years and I told him I wanted to see my grandchildren again. Sooo…he got me a First Class round trip ticket! At least getting from Oregon to Rhode Island will be with lotsa legroom.
I am still working ‘cause I still love it and love taking continuing education.  And…my cats would not like it if I were home every day.
I haven’t done any theater since before Covid.
i have had a wonderful reconnection with my daughter. With all of the uncertainty and strife in the world, I am focusing on gratitude. So grateful for my family and family of friends.

    NAVY MOM HUGS!

  • Blondie

T-Lynn, glad to hear your progressing positively.  4o years!  Your soft tissue has a lot to unlearn!  Sounds like you're doing a Great job rehabbing, stick with it, you know it's worth it.

DramaSoul, What a Wonderful present!  Praying for safe travels and lots of Fun!

I actually got a lunch break today.... Got a phone call my Oldest Brother was taken by ambulance to Columbus for Emergency Surgery on his neck. He's been having neck pain, I suggested x-rays, then they gave him steroids and sent him home. This morning he couldn't walk or lift his head up. His wife took him to the ER, they did a MRI, slapped a neck brace on him and sent him off. They said they didn't know why he wasn't paralyzed. He called both my other brothers and then tried me of course I was at work and my personal phone turned off. So he called my Husband, who called me at lunch time.  He said Bud was in good spirits, has been through lots of surgeries and wasn't scarred. But Hubby said he only choked up when he talked about not getting to talk to me. I ask why didn't you give him the office phone number and he said I didn't think either of you needed that. He was gonna call my sister next OR maybe her husband he wasn't sure.  My Dad won't know until he comes out of surgery. So here I sit at work,  Trying not to worry.  God has a plan. I agree with DramaSoul we need to be more Grateful .

    Thanks for listening.

Navy Mom HUGS (because I need them)

    :)

DramaSoul, My sailor is stationed in Rhode Island.  He works in Newport and lives in Cranston (about 10 minutes from the airport).  Enjoy your time.

Blondie, make sure to raise a glass of wine and toast all of us.  I hope your weekend is a go.

TLynn, Glad to hear you are healing.  We are doing PT at the same time.  After almost 9 weeks of no weight on my right foot, I am starting to walk.  I have to be in a walking boot and I need the crutches.

  • T-Lynn

    HI All

    WOW - what wonderful gossip!!!!

Drama - what a wonderful gift !!!! Wishing for only the best flying weather and just the BEST of time  . But would like to hear you are back on the stage.  Hugs

Blondie - OMG !!!! Sending healing vibes to your brother!  Let us know please how he is doing.  And your hubby not giving him the number - that's normal of all good hubbies - they think of protecting us (their wives ) first.   Good man. Hey- any new staff hired?

Kim !!!! The boot is black - right?  So just paint your toe nails and your healing will be a smooth ride.  A picture would be nice too. HOw is retirement?

Me- doing ok. Yes, I was in PT the day after surgery. And could bend my knee at 74 degrees.  So doing well. Now I am busy with granddaughter.  She was NOT behaving at day care - so now guess who is babysitting?  Yes - ME !  So now she is finding out she has school work with me. She is learning to read - from my first grader reader - Dick -Jane and Sally!  She is only 4 and half - But IF she wants to - she can read!  so I have my hands full and Shark is hiding.

Sorry this short - but I ate Chinese last night and it is not setting well with me today.  So I off to bed.

    Hugs all

  • T-Lynn

Hope all had a fun Halloween. We did even though it snowed!

that's right first snow of 2023 - Halloween. It did stop some from trick or treating. But we still had nearly 200 that came to the door.  all polite and great costumes.  Grandson didn't want to go out - he helped to hand out candy.  But granddaughter put on her Princess costume and dragged her poor father out into the cold for candy! she is 4 and half.  Oh is she going to be something in her teens.

As for hubby and me - we sat at the door and hand out candy. But we did place a space heater near us.  We were happy and toasty warm.

Otherwise all well here .   hugs

  • Blondie

Heading to Texas for Thanksgiving!!  Wishing everyone, safe travels and hopefully visits/calls from their active and veterans.

    Happy Thanksgiving, Navy Mom HUGS!

  • T-Lynn

Happy Trails to You blondie.  Have a great visit.

Here no idea what is happening for Thanksgiving.  Sailor will not be home - to busy at work.  And the grandkids would be happier with McDonalds. Have to say , that would be easy.

Here I have been having another issue.  somehow I cracked the through a molar root.  totally through.  And it was on a tooth I had root canal on 8 years ago.  the one I had a palm tree cap made for. Well, for a dead tooth - I was in pain.  I had a golf ball size infection in the loser left jaw. Finally this last Monday and oral surgeon took it out. Finally feeling a bit better.   some how turning 68 last February -  I have just fallen apart.  And naturally, my warranty on parts. ran out.  Hope my tush doesn't fall off!  then I will have to figure what new style I want.  Maybe a Sophia Loren or Marilyn Monroe?  what you think girls?  Anyway - knock on wood - still got my old one.

Need to get along - wish all a Happy Thanksgiving. Hugs

  • T-Lynn

    Hi Everyone

Well, her we are - another Christmas. ANd my sailor will not be home. You think I would be use to it - but no.  Still fell that mommy need of her kids to be ALL home for Christmas.

WE have no snow - just that wonderful wet rain. YOu know that feeling.  It is in the low 20's - wet - and temp dropping.  Right now it feels like 11 degrees. Now that would be ok if there was snow to look at. But no - I have wet mud and green grass.

Just wanted to wish all a wonderful Christmas.  Hugs

  • Kim

Happy New Year to All.  Hope you had a Blessed Christmas.

Just checking in. Hope this finds you all healthy and warm. Winter has come and stayed. LOL

  • T-Lynn

    HI

Yes, Winter moved in like a roaring train!  Grandkids loved it.  WE had a snow day, so out the door sledding the down the hill! Our plan was to tire the kids out - haha. The adults took the naps

Then we had to chop the ice off our cars - car-cycles.  Then the street plows came by and we had to dig out the end of the drive way again.  Yup - Winter

    take care  Happy New Year

  • T-Lynn

    HI All

    What's up?

Do we need a roll call?  Ok we do - ROLL CALL Y'all !!

Gossip is needed. Or just saying "Hi". that reminds me - have any of you seen that video on FB of the cat saying Hi - southern style?  I saw that and said my aunt Alice who lives in TN  needs that cat. It even sounded a bit like her.

Anyway - here doing ok. its February. the month that slows down and get the month of March to copy it. Everything slows down. Its like trying to jump start a dead battery.  At the end of March - it will kick in.

I know this will sound like a bad yaya - but I can't wait for day camp to start and send my granddaughter.  I am all Yaya out! she needs little ones her age to play with. And to be honest - I NEDD other Yaya'a my age to play with!  When I start answering my hubby with 5 year old style of talking - I need some grown up talking.  And I have to ask this - do any of you have granddaughters who have Barbie Dolls?  If so - are their dolls all naked?   I am not being silly here - My granddaughter has all her Barbies naked.  WHY? they have clothes.  Its like a nude beach and I can't join in because I don't have that body any more.

Oh that's here.  Come on Pan Moms - Roll Call  hugs

  • Henry's Mom

    T-Lynn - so funny!

Naked Barbies are a thing for years.  When I had my first ones, they were always dressed, swapping clothes etc.  Nowadays the girls seem to take the clothes off but never put them back on.  Maybe it's finger dexterity that is missing? Or something else comes up and it never tops their mind again!  My daughter wasn't into them but was gifted a few.  When her friends would come over - BANG - naked Barbies again.  And after they left, I'd dress them....all good until next time.  We finally gave many away but she still has a new-in-box Russian Barbie [daughter is adopted from Russia] and a New In Box Belle Barbie....

Here in PA - things are ok - no snow right now thank heavens.  My sailor was here from Japan starting 12/21 but went back 1/17.  He shipped himself some stuff but labeled it to vaguely for the post office and it was returned, so I had to repack it and re-send....timing it to see how long deliveries take to his location at Atsugi.  When he came home, he brought some TShirts from the NEX that showed the base logo etc.  Until then, I never knew that Atsugi was part of the 7th Fleet!  Still learning.

Anyway, howdy to all - hope you are all doing well.

  • Chris, Forever Ray's Proud Mom

    Hi All,

Been a busy time, so haven't kept up with replies. Renters moved out of house, so trying to get presentable to sell, hopefully. Outdated with today's fashion, but useable, so we'll see. Was gonna poss move back (small town vibe) but daughter just found out she's pregnant, so want to be close. (2.5 hr seems like an eternity, right?)

Kim--I'd love to meet up while you're in Jax. Sent a message with contact info. Hope it happens.

Mom and I went on a cruise last Fall that was supposed to stop in Boston adn Maine, so thought I might be able to meet those from that region, but hurricane deleted a day off the cruise and they cancelled the US stops. I'll get up there one day.

Son almost died with pulmonary embolism last Aug. Went to the doc a couple of times complaining of SOB, but guess the XR didn't show pneumonia, so they sent him home. When he went with SOB after 20 feet, they did some deeper investigation and found 60-80% of his lungs clotted off. He didn't call until a day or so before his discharge, grrr!! I'd be so pissed if the first communication I received was his death, and not his admission! He is doing better, but will be medically boarded this year. Prayers please. God's hands/plan is always stronger than ours.

Mom getting a little worse every month, but that's what was expected, just going with it. I am a surgical nurse, so trying to be more patient with her dementia than I am trained! Husband supportive, but still my. job. Daughter not only pregnant (shh, can't tell anyone for three more weeks), but planning a wedding that will be 6 weeks after delivery. (They were married in Oct on paper for insurance $ savings, than the Lord!!) But she has anxiety, and her husband has PTSD/anxiety....treading lightly there!! lol

Gotta love the change and life that it all brings, trying to stay positive and supportive of all, Need to find a counsellor for myself.

Hugs to all, thanks for the platform to vent! Know y'all understand without a lot of detail.

Don't be jealous, but the lovely Chris (Rays mom) took me out for lunch yesterday.  What a great lady!

We were not drinking, the picture just loaded sideways.

  • T-Lynn

    HI

Ah Kim, the picture is just fine - its upright not sideways.  Now just how much were two drinking for you to think that the picture is sideways?  And don't go telling us that you used your computer to fix it. I know how good those Pink Flamingo cocktails are, but really Kim - you can share with us Pan moms - we don't judge - just gossip!

Kidding - you two look lovely. And sorry - yes jealous, but happy that Pan Moms are getting together.

Henry's mom - tried to redress those Barbies - but they were naked shortly. I just walk through a sea of naked Barbies.  Oh the mailing stories we all had here. Trying to time packages - no - not possible.  Its mail them and cross your fingers, toes, eyes - anything that you can cross to get those packages there safe and FAST ! When my sailor was there - he called home for his long johns. He was freezing and the NEX were out of extra large.  And he tried to Japanese stores - our extra large is a medium to them! WE ran out to the store and purchased three sets of long johns and other fun things too - packaged them and mailed them out immediately. those packages got there in 5 days!  that was the ONLY time that happened.   Then one October - he was calling how he was going to miss Halloween at home. How he wanted a pumpkin to carve a Jack - O - Lantern.  Well, I had grown small pumpkins that summer and had one to mail him.  Yes, you read right - I mailed a pumpkin.  And Birthday gifts too. When I was packing all the stuff - something told me to place each item in their own  freezer sip lock bag. Now I am talking gallon, quarts and sandwich sizes. Everything was baggied. GOOD THING TOO!.  That package was mid month to give it 2 weeks to arrive on time for Halloween. Nope - 3 months later. Not kidding here, and it was addressed correctly too. For some reason - it was sent back to a base in CA - then to  a ship - back to CA and finally - to his base in Sasebo. When it arrived - he was with two mates.  the box had holes in it, it looked liked it had been soaked in water and had been tape reapplied.  He was afraid to open it.  He told me - he just knew nothin had survived.  WELL he was wrong - every item was in perfect condition. - Well except that pumpkin. He said he lifted out that gallon bag - still sealed - and there was nothing but this orange like water - seeds and a stem floating around.  So now there is a tipped of how to pack and not to send a pumpkin.

Hi Chris - yes you need to be closer to your daughter.  It only being two hours - it must still feel like the hours your sailor is away.  You are one busy lady.  Caring for your mom is a loving task but can be very taxing on you.  I know - I cared for my mother for 30 years. And somethings family meaning well with advice - doesn't fit the situation.   Its ok to say no thank you. And vent all you want. That's why we come here at times, just to vent. No one will judge or gossip - just listen and send air hugs.  And if you get lucky to travel and meet up - oh those hugs you get from fellow Navy moms is indescribable to share the feeling, but you will know it.  So air hugs Chris

Kim how you doing?  You have retired yes? How's the sailor and family doing? You look beautiful and every time I see a pink flamingo and I send happy vibes your way.

Hey, hubby coming in. Taking family out to eat tonight. Nothing big - just me not cooking!  Hugs all

Thank you for the messages - I needed them HUGS !!!!

  • Blondie

Love reading and catching up!   No time or energy to post.  That's right my batteries are running down.  Hoping to get a recharge this weekend and then Texas again in April.

We lost a very dear friend after 2 and half years fighting prostrate cancer.  I don't remember life without Larry.  It was always a joke that he was my second husband. (If any thing happened to my husband)  My husband was best friends with him, my brothers, sister in law.... We were connected through 3 different families and non of them blood!  That's what happens when you live in small town Ohio. When Plymouth had a ball game, we'd go over and do his chores so he could stay after school and catch the bus to game with team.  When Pops passed away, he was at our house making supper, feeding the dogs making sure the lights were on.... He lived with us 3  times, my kids called him Uncle.  Every Christmas Eve he was there putting toys together and every Christmas morning there before 8:00 for breakfast and gifts.... So many memories!

My youngest son was hospitalized with only 32% kidney function, high BP and heart....This is the son with kidney disease. He's been in remission for almost 20 years!  Couldn't do dialysis because they were afraid they'd blow!  He's now on 3 different BP meds. a heart pill and a kidney pill. They can't even do another biopsy until they get his BP and heart under control.

Our house is under construction, my Hubby started the master bedroom(old living room) so the now master bedroom will become a closet/dressing room and master bath on other side of that. I NEED that walk in shower!  Ugg. So Hubby finally gave his 2 weeks notice and is Finally retiring!

Heard from Texas girl over lunch, they bought a house!  Further not closer to us. :(  We were hoping for TN but they went for Houston oh well just a longer flight.

Gotta run office getting Busy (Again)

OK - Roll Call.  My gossip tank is low - please send some hugs

  • Chris, Forever Ray's Proud Mom

    Hi All,

    signing in

    1 here's my life in a nutshell:

Son getting medical discharge after 12 yr due to blood clots in his lungs. Almost died, they didn't diagnose it on his first 2-3 visits to the hospital.....grrr. But he is on blood thinners for the rest of his life and has been deemed unfit for duty. At least he got to Japan before this happened. He is going back to school and has been networking for whichever way the decision went . He says he is ok with it, and frankly, I am glad with the sh!t going on in the world. He has made some great friends.

My daughter is due in late Sept with her first child, a boy. She's a mess. Already laying the ground rules like grandparents don't know how to raise a child. smh. maybe she'll lighten up, or keep the kid away from us if we don't comply. Married on paper last Oct for benefits, glad she did cuz her delivery is FREE with new insurance. woop, and he is a nice guy. Of course the wedding is in Nov, about 6 weeks post partum, won't that be fun lol. She needs to control everything, so she's doing all the "stuff" (decor, planning...) without asking for any help. actually declines help. oh well.

just ask that any responses to this email/me, are very generic here as my email is read by my husband, and he has very strong opinions about what I should share or allow others to be involved.

Went down to 2 days a week at work last Nov and am busier than ever at home taking care of Mom and life here. Would retire but too young for medicare and need healthcare. My job allows PT to keep benefits after 59.5 yr old. Mom and I are going to Antarctica on a cruise in Jan 25 (at least for now, lol). gotta get that wheelchair order to go thru!!

I did take up quilting as a hobby for my retirement. Made 6 for family so far, all seem to like them. Learning from every one! lol Mom asked me for something quilted to put in her casket, so made her a bookmark since shel loves to read.

headed to next chore--would love to take anyone to lunch who comes to Jax! I totally enjoyed Kim!

Take care of yourselves adn thanks for listening. Glad to know we can vent (don't remember if I've told you all of this already either.) Gotta save to go see my son, he's staying in HO for now, as he bought a home and will be going to school there. There are many worse places he could be, right?

Hi Chris, I enjoyed meeting you in Jacksonville.  I'm sorry to hear about your son.  My son in the navy has less than a year to go on his degree in cyber security from Purdue online.  He highly recommends it.  He took free MIT courses when he was stuck in Guam during Covid and found what he loves.  Purdue was generous giving him credit for past college courses and the navy pays so much a year (otherwise he would be done by now).  Also, welcome to the grandma club.  Please post pictures of those quilts!

Wendy, Walter Reed is a great vacation.  My youngest lives in that general area.  Housing is expensive but he should find something.

Blondie, I am sorry to hear about your friend.  Great news on your husbands retirement.  Now he is your employee 100%.  LOL.

TLynn, I am late for roll call.  I am still working part time.  About 16 hours a week but 100% remote.  My sailor is looking at new orders for a year from now.  I have my fingers crossed for Norfolk.  His wife and son are headed to Japan this week.  I just had them all for a visit and my house is suddenly quiet.

I have to run.  This house is in desperate need of cleaning.

    HI !!!!!

thank you Kim and Chris.  My gossip tank is almost full - there are a few of you other Pan Moms that could check in.

WOW Chris !!! And I mean WOW!.  From your sailor to your daughter , making quilts ( agree with Kim post some pictures), joining the Grandma club and a possible cruise to Antarctica - now that's a ride. Fingers cross for you sailor to feel better and get the job he wants.  Oh yes the rules of raising a child.  I believe that will last about 2 months. its the baby that sets the rules. I wish you all the best  hugs

Hi Kim . Tickled Flamingo Pink to hear from you.  Well, glad you are almost retried. And working from home does have it perks. Cyber Security has to be tough and rewarding at the same time.  Fingers crossed he gets Norfolk. Do wish your grandson and Daughter n law a fun trip back to Japan.  And I know about a house who NEEDS cleaning too.

That's mine.  I am right now in my final details of Cub Scout Day camp activities. this July will be my last at teaching at Day Camps. I need a break. My sailor has been touring a few European Countries for trainings.  when he gets back. I'll share where. But he has called when he has been bored and I can say I had a fun trip with him driving through the many countries and sight seeing through his eyes.  I can say he enjoyed himself and that he ate well. He sent pictures of his meals. I was drooling from one picture - it was a doubled  layered chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Oh what huge layers too. I know I gained 5 pounds just by looking at the picture.

Otherwise - busy trying to keep up with 2 grandkids and Cub Scouting.

Thank you for sharing. Wish you all a good week  hugs

I forgot to share 2 funny stories. Both were created by my granddaughter Emma.

    1. Yesterday Emma tripped over her brother's feet and hit the kitchen floor hard. naturally I went to pick her up and was told by her mom not too.  Tessa was worried Emma had hit her head and wanted to see if Emma would stand up and respond to us.  Emma got up fine and came to me for cuddles and a back rub. Tessa then asked: "Emma, what did you hit?". Emma: "I, I hit the floor."  At that moment I lost it - and trying so hard not to laugh out loud. Tessa: " Emma, I thought you might have hit your head".  Emma: " NO, I hit the floor!".  At that point laughter could not be held in.

    2. Today, both grandkids were helping to make dinner.  Emma asked to lick the butter off the knife.  So I said ok.  I turned just in time to see her trying to place that knife back into the drawer.  I asked her not to and she stated very frankly : " Well, I licked it cleaned."  At that moment trying to explain about germs and laughing again.

    Thought I share

    Summer is Rushing by!

Daughter is dealing with 2nd Houston disaster in the last 2 months!  Just finished up thousands of dollar fix and got to use their pool for 2 weeks. Now it starts all over again. No electric, water and heat....Luckily Granddaughter was at her Dad's for the storm. She's suppose to come home this Sunday, I told her if the electric is still out bring her here!

Other daughter took the summer off work to be home with her children, started babysitting  to make extra money. who knows maybe she won't go back to work.  Joseph Jude starts school this Aug. !  Where did the time go???  Lilianna Grace turned 3!

Oldest son and DIL are doing great.  Our son as won awards for his wine, gin and bourbons, not only Ohio awards but Nationally!  So Proud of him, DIL still traveling all over for the zoo, of course he goes too.

My youngest son finally had his kidney biopsy, waiting on results. He lost more weight, white blood cells high, kidney function low!  Doctor thinks he'll be on disability by the end of summer, gonna try dialysis in hospital setting as soon as we get these darn results back.  Best outcome, since he's a dialysis technician he will do his at home. He's looking for an easier job, maybe part time. He hates the idea of being disabled. :(

My back is calming down after 4 months.  Had new x-rays, therapy for 2 months....I did resort to drugs for 2 weeks to get it under control. Doing Decompression only twice a week now. I can go up/down about 4-5 steps, walk about 1 city block without help.  I was using 2 canes, now only 1 when needed.  If I have a shopping cart or hubby's hand/arm I'm good.

Hubby still working on our house, 1st room almost done, will move our bedroom in there and then he can start on bathroom. He's been busy helping me and the kids, running to doctor's and hospitals....

So overall, We're Hanging in there. Gentle Hugs, stay strong.

    HI

As usual Blondie , your hive is a buzzing with energy. I wish it was all good news, but your family generates positive energy with anything that comes up.  You should bottle that energy and sell it.

Sending positive vibes to daughter in Texas for best results of the storm and healing vibes to your youngest.   Keep us posted. Any chance of him receiving a new donated kidney?  Well not new - but used and in good condition.

And what is the name of your son's Wine, Gin and bourbons?  Would like to try it.

Here I have completed my last Cub Scout Summer Day Camp.  I am really trying to step out.  It is just so much work and having to purchase items ( that I cannot get repaid ) that its time for Me Time.  I'll still help out my grandson and granddaughter, but not for 100 scouts any more.

ONly other thing here - I have lost a cousin this last Friday and a friend of teh club we are in and a fellow high school classmate.  then been told three more club members are in failing health and its just a matter of time.  wow so many leaving so close.  Going to be sharing a lot of hugs this week.

My grandkids start school august 15th and i am counting the days .  Then I am going to start things for me.

Need to get - Laundry Fairy is visiting.

You have a good week.  Hugs

    Hi All

Just checking in.  Hubby and I are better. Somehow I caught covid. Then shared with hubby. It was like a bad flu. Hubby could take the medication, but not me.  Twenty minutes after taking it - I would throw up and had difficulty breathing.  My doctor took me off. And I just road it out.  Still tire easily and have sinus issues. But better.

Wanted to see how everyone is.

I have some fun gossip. Had my grandkids out on the splash pad - best purchase ever. Well, granddaughter had to pee badly. So I told her she could hide behind me and pee in the grass. She said: "you can do that?' I said: yes.  Showed her, that her suit had snaps. She peed joyously in the grass and was so proud.  And she would not  hide behind me. Luckily no neighbors out, but all my neighbors are grandparents and I know they have stories to share too.

    thought you would my giggle.

    take care all hugs

is he attached to the carrier? my son is there but I send all his mail to the ship right now. However according to the ships ombudsman, they don't need the 4 digits anymore.  the MPS did away with them, but they suggested using their box number.

  • T-Lynn

    Hi All,

Just checking in on how every one is doing.

Well I have an update.  That Christmas package I mailed to my granddaughter could not be delivered.  So its on its way back on a ship.  It will arrive in 3 months.  Then I will put the correct address on it again and mail again.  So she will actually have Christmas in April.  Turns out I left off the numbers of the unit.  So Moms - Double check address and any details.

Wish all a great New Year   hugs
