hmmmm...Lion Brand might even be interested in donating to such a worth cause!
Based on some homework that we did for the Adopt A Sailor program, I can tell you the frigates are our smallest ships and they can crews of almost 250 sailors. On the other extreme cruisers, carry about 5000 sailors...so how many afghans can we make in a weekend?!!! Happy Knitting!!!!
When did you guys start making blankets.. GREAT IDEA... I would love to make one, but haven't crocheted in about 18 years. so needless to say i'm a little slow.. what is the time frame on this project.... I could be done by NEXT winter. HAHA
Terri, In talking with my father last night about this project he was confused as to how this was going to work with the fire regulations onboard ships. I assume that this has been cleared and all with "someone". I told him things have changed a bit since the olden days but just checking. Thanks
I was just reading about "the random drawing" my son is not on a ship, he is a seabee on the ground in Iraq., so don't include my name, but I am working on an afghan.
I love the ugly afghan, we had one in our family, I haven't seen it in a while, so I'm not sure we still have it, but we called it our"scrapghan"!
go for it Kate, it was the favorite "blanket" in our house (when I was growing up), and then we siblings would take turns "stealing it from one another"! If it's still around I think my daughter has it in her home now!!!!
Hi everyone .........not the best crocheter (do they need scarves.............LOL), but when I seen what you were doing I just had to try ....so I just went to angelicrafts.and ordered $35.00 of yarn ..."free shipping" ...don't know how much yarn I will get but will set to working on a blanket........thanks for having me
Ok Guys I ordered some yarn for anglicrafts. and they sent me a notice that my package weighs 13 pounds......now I don't know much about yarn is this going to be enough for a blanket or should I order more right away so I have enough.......ss to sound stupid but it has been years
thanks for your time and did some one say there is a way to help others that are needing yarn?
lthanks
Hi Terri, Because money is so tight. I didn't begg for money, but I 'm so excited about NAVYformoms, but most of all all the energy and love in this group, so just maybe she will find intrest in this group.
WOW Debbie that is beautiful The bank account sounds like a really good idea then people can donated directly. I have made up some flyers to get out the interest and hopefully help. so I will hold off on them for a few and wait and see what we come up with
No JerseyMom no callouses on finger .......have them on knees from begging people for help.................LOL...............but it seems it might be working
