Shelley/MrsG:  Just wait and see the tears at PIR!  PROUD tears.  I cried from the moment I walked in until it was over....and I'm not a big cry-er!

You are very welcome, maghirsch.  What a wonderful thing to have said to your son....even if he was feeling that anyway, it sure validates it to have his mom say it too!

  • MrsG

Well I may need a medic, because I cry like a baby for everything.

  • diannep

Ladies, just a reminder that they usually cannot write their first personal letter until they have been there about 2 weeks.  It could be this Sunday that they finally can write, and will receive held mail, or it may not be until next Sunday.  Once they can write the first time, they will only be able to mail out on Mondays, but they will receive mail M-F.

  • MrsG

Thanks for the reminder, because when I got home earlier I went straight to the mail box.

  • MrsG

So is Sunday usually a free day for them?

  • diannep

Yes, sort of, MrsG.  They can go to church in the morning...if they want to.  They still have things to do but much lower speed than during the week.

  • hippomama42

We got our letter!!! He is Ship 12, Div 303!
  • Dolo

Got out letter she is ship 12. Div 303
  • Dolo

I actually got a call too as they needed info. So excited to hear from her especially since she was not allowed to send a letter Sunday based on when they arrived
  • maghirsch

just finished 1st of many letters to my son, feel very good about it, very encouraging , God I love this man/boy lol, soon to be a man

  • MrsG

Just woke up Diannep, thanks for the response earlier.
  • MrsG

So no ship 2 division 301 on this page? I only made 1 connect thus far.
  • Berryrn03

Our letter came today!!  We are ship 12 div 303!!

  • ellen0502

Let your recruits know about this website and tell them to spread the word. The more recruits spread the word the more "moms" you have here. :)

  • MarvinKMooney

Got our letter. Ship 12, Div 304. Yay!
  • navymom28

our letter came today ! Ship 12 Div 304 *_*

  • CatMom509

Hey everyone, I want to give you a "HEADS UP" to be prepared to possibly receive calls from your SRs this weekend! The call will show up as "847", "Waukegan, IL", "Pay Phone", or "Government" or anything else that may be unfamiliar. If it is a sales call, just politely tell them "No, thank you." Please also let your family members know about this too~~

When you do receive a call, could you please post which division is calling also, so other moms/loved ones know to expect a call? Now if anyone in that division doesn't receive a call, it could be your SR is on watch and it is up to the RDCs on whether that SR gets to make-up the call~~

During this time in Boot Camp, please keep your cell phones charged, ready, and with you all the time---upstairs, downstairs, out in the backyard, in the bathroom, out to get the mail, of course, out on errands. If you are going to a loud restaurant or a movie theater, remember to put it on "vibrate" and put in your pocket or some place you can feel it. They can call during the week or weekend, so just be prepared: 6:00 am - 6:00 pm (Pacific/West Coast); 7:00 am - 7:00 pm (Mountain time); 8:00 am - 8:00 pm (Central/Great Lakes time); 9:00 am - 9:00 pm (Eastern Coast).

  • CatMom509

    MrsG,

They only have Holiday time from 7:00 am - 1:00 pm where they can attend church, take a longer shower, shine their boots, stamp their clothes, write letters.....then it's back to "training" the rest of the day~~~ But Sunday is not considered an official training day like 2-2, 2-3. 2-4. etc...

  • diannep

    Good Morning!

Just to explain what CatMom posted below about the numbering of Training Weeks/Days.  There are actually 6 Training Weeks at Bootcamp, preceded by Processing Days when SRs arrive at Bootcamp (the amount of days varies per SR)....and followed by a couple to a few "down days" between BattleStations, their final test and then they are sailors, and PIR.  This number varies because some divisions may do BattleStations a week before PIR, and the last divisions may not do them until 2-3 days before PIR.  So, when CatMom posted 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, etc, that stands for Training Week 2/Day 2.  They are numbered 1-5, Sats and Suns do not count.

It is possible that the divisions furthest in training just started their Training Week 1.  The other divisions are within a few days of that, all being in Training Week 1 by early next week.

  • diannep

MrsG:  Form letters are still arriving, so there will be others joining this group, hopefully in your division!

  • MrsG

Good Morning! Thank you both for your explanations. It still flies over my head, but my daughter is the one who's there and need to fully understand this stuff. I just want to hear her voice, hence as CatMom suggested my phone is glued to me. I will like to know though, should I miss that call, will she get another chance to call, or is a one shot deal?

  • diannep

MrsG:  It is very unlikely that she could call again if you miss the call due to so many lined up to call usually.  However, never say never!  They have a set amount of time to call so if she calls someone else after she missed connecting to you and is brief, she just may have time to give you a quick call again.  Don't forget to keep the phone with you even when in the bathroom or stepping out to get the mail....or when in a LOUD place....you may want to make sure it is on vibrate too and tuck it in your bra!

  • Tiggercubs

thank you dianep for the explanation.  Makes sense.  We'll all get the hang of these codes!!!!  Best.

  • MrsG

    Again I thank you diannep.

That phone sits by my head while I sleep. I went into the shower a while ago, it stood on the sink. As I go from room to room it is with me. I had a little flash of *what if* I left the phone in another room and run to get it only to fall, so to avoid that from becoming a reality I have it with me wherever I go. I just pray that I do not miss the call, since I live in the city and ride the subway which goes underground at times. That's my biggest fear, so I am constructing in my mind other means of travel to avoid that from happening.

  • MrsG

This is by far the most nerve racking time of my life!!!

  • MrsG

So I'm wondering who has any idea of the temperature in Waukegan, during the month of September? The typical temperature that is, considering the changing patterns we've been experiencing in the past few years. Mind you I Googled it, but I will love to hear the voice of experience.

  • CatMom509

    Good Morning All!

"Ears that hear and eyes that see--

the Lord has made them both."

                                       Proverbs 20:12

  • Pam W.

When you get a chance to talk to your SR ask for names of others in division not receiving mail so you can send them a letter. Worst feeling ever is being the only one not getting mail.
  • MrsG

Agreed Pam. I did so in my first letter to my daughter which I mailed on Thursday. I have also indicated such to her sisters, and friends. Everyone deserves to feel the sense of love and appreciation, especially when giving their life for us.

  • MarvinKMooney

I also asked my SR to send me names of kids not getting letters, or maybe we'll do the star thing. I have been so thrilled to be able to connect with some of the other moms in my SR's division. Thanks for reaching out, ladies! We'll get through it together! So glad I found this site! Also, there's a Facebook page for 9/11 PIR that is also helpful. NMH to you all! <3
  • bjbmom

Not sure if I'm in the correct group.  My sailor PIR is 9/11, but was does TG 44 stand for?

  • U2navymom

The letter came today! My SR is Ship 02 Div 944. I was surprised by the 900. My guess is he is in his 20s and volunteered for the extra duties. So anyone else with a SR in the same boat (hehe) please friend me.
Now waiting for the phone call...
  • MrsG

    Congratulations U2navymom!

Anxious moments for those phone calls, I myself have the phone strapped to me.

  • ellen0502

Bobbi, If your recruits PIR is 09/11, you are in the right group.

    TG=Training Group

This is the 44th Training Group in this Navy fiscal year.

  • MrsG

Still no Ship 12 Div 301 moms in this room?

  • ellen0502

MrsG, It would be safe to say in the 70's during the day, in the 50's at night, and there can be wind coming in off the lake which might make it feel cooler.

Dress in layers that time of the year. You can always put clothes on, but you can only take so many off before being arrested, or at the very least looked at strangely. :)

  • Lea Carlies Mom

I can't find the Facebook page either? Does anyone know what to type in...holding on tight to my phone
  • MrsG

Lol, thank you elleno502. I didn't think I'd need a lot of clothing that time of the year, but I will prepare myself

  • navymom28

For those who got their calls, did your SR leave July 15? I am jus worried I might miss the calls if he will call me next Saturday as I am out of the country.

  • bjbmom

I have seen something about decorating doors, but now I don't remember where I seen that.  Can someone tell me what this is?

  • Lea Carlies Mom

Did anyone receive a call today?  I really was looking forward to it.  Feeling sad!

  • MrsG

I'm with you Lea, no call. Oh well tomorrow's another day.
  • MarvinKMooney

I tried to put a link to the Facebook page, but my comment was deleted so I must have violated something. If you search PIR 09-11-2015 it comes up. It's a closed group and requires approval.
  • poppersmom

To find the link on fb go to boot camp group the link is there.
  • diannep

Bobbi:  Some like to decorate their hotel room doors to honor their sailors.  As long as you do not damage the doors and remove it all when done, the hotels are good with this--- usually.  It is up to you how you want to decorate it.

  • diannep

    Good Morning!

  • Lu

Hi, I got my letter a couple days ago, so now I can send my son all the letters I've already written lol.
Now I'm looking at fights and such to hopefully get to go see him at his PIR. I need some advice about flights, but don't want to break any rules with info.
  • Dionne

Is there a fb group for PIR 9/11/2015 ? It's not coming up when I put in 9/11/2015!  My son is in div 944

  • diannep

Lu:  Checkout Southwest Airlines for flights, into either Chicago-Midway or Milwaukee.  Midway is closer in miles, but a longer drive because of traffic (hour+).  Milwaukee is about 45 min, no traffic.  Southwest charges no change fee, so if your SR is delayed for any reason, no problem.  Also, 2 bags check for free and I believe they offer a cheaper car rental rate as well if you book with them.

    Blessed Sunday!

"And this is my prayer that your love may abound

more and more in knowledge and depth of insght,

so that you may be able to discern what is best

and may be pure and blameless until the day

of Christ, filled with the fruit of rigteousness that

comes through Jesus Christ -- to the glory and

          praise of God."
