Amphibious (Gator Navy)http://navyformoms.ning.com/group/amphibious  Many corpsmen are assigned to amphibious assault ships, which are used to transport Marines.  These ships have extensive medical capabilities, for which they are often placed in service for humanitarian aid and disaster relief.  An LHD typically has at least 30 corpsmen assigned to it as ship's company, in addition to the corpsmen assigned to Marine units that may be onboard.  There are also groups for individual LHDs, i.e. USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7).
