My son graduates on June 5th from A School. I am trying to verify the time of the graduation so I can book a flight in and out that day. He understood it to be at 10am or 12pm. I was trying to see if it is a set time. Thanks again,
Unlike PIR, the HM graduation is very informal and subject to last minute changes. I have seen (on the facebook page) many examples of the time getting changed last minute and also with snafus getting on base. You have to get a piece of paper from your graduate to get on base -- they do not get the paper until a few days before -- so unless they pay big $$$ to overnight it to you -- things are much easier if you arrange a way to get if from them the night before -- long-winded way of saying you should probably try to get in the night before. Parking can also be an issue.
I do hope you made plans to arrive at least the day before. Your sailor will need to have put you on the list so that when you go to the base pass office you are given a pass for the base. That said- the time in line waiting can be quite long. After the pass its about a 5-10 minute drive through the base to where you park. Then you walk across the road to the building where the ceremony is held. I would hate to see you miss it. It is very well worth it.
