My daughter is very concerned about her health and the radiation in the coast of Japan. Her spirit is down. Is it true that they don't get paid at this time?and if so why? Yeah it is true we get radiation through mammograms and other test such as MRIs, but we awared of this at the time we do it and we can control the amount. Our kids are being exposed to this awful poison weather we like it or not and their quality of life may not be good in the future. I don't want to sound negative, but I am also realistic.
I am tired of being the world's police and it would be nice if other countries took the leading role in future wars and disasters. Like you, I want to help, but I also want my own safe. I apologize ahead of time if I offended anybody. May God protect our children, families, friends, all the people of Japan and Lybia.
I think the Navy is doing everything in its power to keep our children out of harm's way. I think the Navy is monitoring the radiation level independently of the Japanese and will take the necessary precautions.
Why would they not get paid? That doesn't make any sense and that's the first I've heard of it.
As far as being the world's police, that it a political discussion best left untouched.
Hope your daughter is feeling better.

Linda (Seth's mom)
I too was worried, then my son called and said quit worrying and listening to the news, he said it wasn't as bad as they say and that it changes every day. I did hear that they were removing one ship because they could not risk damage of radiation getting into the duct system, so they really are checking levels. As far as the no pay...it was about the government shut down that is probably more of a threat than a promise, I am sure, because that would also mean that our government officials would also not get paid and the chances of that happening is pretty nil. God is in control and I just have to trust him, even though I have to admit I too am still a little scared.
