New CSS sailors on hold at GL

My son just graduated BC and is waiting to go to Fort Lee. The rumor is he will be there about 4 weeks. Are there any other moms with sailors at this same point?

I am reading your post on here, and I was wondering what the outcome of your SR was after BC.  My son will be graduating BC from GL August, so I was curious as to the length he would have to wait before going to Ft. Lee.  I've heard they don't have the room to house a lot so that was one of the causes for the delay.  Just wanted to see if you had more information  Thanks

My son is scheduled to fly out from GL to VA on Sunday, September 4, 2016.  I would like to know if anyone has ever been to the Ft. Lee area?  I am planning a trip there in a couple of months and would like some helpful ideas on hotels and what area to stay if possible.  Thanks

Christy- if you check the main "chat" area I have posted a general order of schooling. Your Sailor, if he's leaving next week, should be at Ft. Lee no longer than 5 - 6 weeks. There are a lot of hotels around the base, when searching use Fort Lee, VA  to find the close ones. We only stayed overnight 1 night before "graduation" and 1 night again 10 days later when we took him back to get his flights from Richmond out to Guam and his carrier, already deployed. I think it was a Quality Inn - not real fancy, no extras, just a bed for the night. Hope that helps.... Do plan on seeing the Richmond Civil war battle field ( the story is amazing and the crater is a must see for history buffs).
