Also, look into "WhatsApp" texting. The app for iPhone & Droid is about a buck, but the texting is free.
  • chriscwick

@ KathyB - how's your furry child? We lost our Georgia to torsion when Chris was just 3 months old.
  • Jane-Adam's mom

My MA has left Bahrain for Diego Garcia and a new assignment. He thinks he will be gone awhile, but of course can't be specific. Any other sailors just ship to there? He said he had over 20 sailors with him.

  • Mary...Brittsmom

    Happy for you Leta!

  • chriscwick

Donna, good news! Sad day for his buddies though.
  • Miss Suzanne

Thank you so much ladies! You just made my month...actually, the next 18 of them! :-)
And Chris, I'll definitely look into "WhatsApp", thanks!

I'm very happy for you, Leta! You must be so excited...!!

And Jane - how did your Sailor like Bahrain? My Michael deploys there on the 27th... He's both really excited, and a bit nervous... depending on his mood! :-)
  • chriscwick

Leta - Seems I shouldn't use my cell phone when I have a migraine! Meds are a bit strong...

Sorry Donna, Meant good news for Daniel. Friends will be missing him at work.

Hope this sick headache gets done with me soon. Am tired of it & it's little friends nausea, etc.
  • chriscwick

Leta - safe journey for Daniel. The waiting must be awful, but the payoff will be stellar!

Kathy B - thanks for the site, been a migraine sufferer since elementary school. Am over the worst of this one, but have a headache "hangover". Moving very   s  l   o   w   l   y & carefully for a while. We went with friends to a evening at a town restaurant featuring a four course dinner accenting a local micro brewery's wares. The food was outrageously good being cooked & paired with selected beers. I know I can't tolerate certain wines & liquors, but I didn't expect such a virulent response to these potent potables. My head started doing it's thing just after the beer float we had for dessert. Am into blandness for the time being.

Donna - Was Steve's dog Grimm a Dutch Shepard? I've been wandering the web offerings on MWD's and on Lackland's pages. I saw a dog that looked very much like Mr. Grimm, that handsome devil..... Course I hit the puppy breeding program pics too. OMG! What cuties, all feet & ears!!!! Just want to grab them up and hug, hug, hug. Got the giggles sitting here, made me think of a line from "Despicable Me"; "It's so FLUFFY!" Makes me long for our sweet (late) Miss KC.

  • Jane-Adam's mom

Suzanne-Adam liked Bahrain and Dubai, saw things he could only see on TV. He was not there long--out on mission twice. He said Diego Garcia was beautiful, great weather, but only there briefly and out on mission to whereabaouts unknown!!

Stay strong and carry on-guess that's all we can do, oh and PRAY alot!!

  • Miss Suzanne

Thanks so much for the info, Jane, I'll be sure to pass that on to my son, Michael.
Pardon if I sound dumb, but where is Diego Garcia? :-)

LETA! Absolutely wonderful pictures! Thanks so much for sharing them with us!
  • Jane-Adam's mom

Oh you are not dumb- I had never heard of it-had to Google it! It is part of a coral reef, 2700 miles SE of Bahrain, seems we share a base there with the Brits. It is below the equator. He is not stationed there, just getting a new boat from there......

  • chriscwick

Donna - let Ashley know that many of the kids trade movies. Chris has done it a lot, has terrabytes of them. He's gotten separate portable storage drives (terrabytes, again) for his music, movies, photos. Sadly, he's in TX at the moment so can't get with her to help her out. He should get out of school & back to the sand in about 3 months. Have her check around in the interim. Folks will gladly share & she may have music or a movie they want so she could return the favor.

Leta - awesome pics! Good grief Suzanne, don't feel dumb, you are not alone! Was also in the dark about Diego Garcia! Will Google too! Never fails...I learn something new on here everyday!!!! Thx.

  • chriscwick

    Check out www.dg.navy.mil

for intel on Diego Garcia. Looks like a resort on the video I watched.

  • chriscwick

Uh, did I mention that the video was presented by the NAVY?! Maybe that's why it looked like a resort......wayyyyyy out in the middle of nothing.

We (NAVY) share it with the Brits.

  • Nancy Cooper's Mom

Hi, my friends in Dubai can grab signals with a sling box. Does the Navy Block those signals?
  • jennnyj

Had an amazing 15 days with my husband and he just left today to go back to Bahrain. Hopefully he can get his 30 day leave in just a few months.

  • Mom2aSailor

Glad you got to see your hubby Jennyd!  :)

My girl goes out to "float" for a few days for an exercise.  She'll get a taste of ship life! :)

She is still loving it there, she has a great room mate and some great friends.  She's been there almost 3 months and hasn't been to the beach! LOL  I asked, "Doesn't anyone go to the beach?"  Any of your sailors get to the Gulf?

  • chriscwick

Looking forward to pics Jill. Congratulations to the groom & best wishes to the bride!
  • Mom2aSailor

KathyB... what is your DD's rate?  I wonder if they know each other?

  • chriscwick

Really nice photos! They look so great together.

  • Mom2aSailor

BYE Leta!!  Enjoy having him home!! :)

  • chriscwick

    Beautiful blanket Donna!

Leta, so excited for you & your family. Will miss your insight & humor. Check in once in a while, will ya?!

Shelia - ain't being NAVY a hoot! Hope the flights & cars work out.

Chris had us put both his Ninjas up for sale. Sad to see "green goblin" & "Roxanne" go to new homes. "Roxanne" may go first, as soon as tomorrow. Alex rode her to the shop & commneted that "she" just screams to go. No wonder Chris was always smiling when he rode. Oh, still no call. Love the guy, but he drives me kah-RAZY!
  • chriscwick

Donna- NOTHING of note, not a single call. Am grinding teeth as I type! He has texted monosyllabic responses to his Dad about his bikes, but that's it. Wonder if he got his gear or he's training in his tidy whiteies! So mad I wish he was!! LOL!

I'm rationalizing that he's just focused on the job at hand. He probably feels pressure to do his utmost to pay back the kennel crew for their expenditure & confidence in sending him to "C" school. Santoucci FB'd him saying that he & Cherry will be at Lackland for competitions in April & if Chris didn't show up to cheer them on, Cherry would, "hate him FOREVER". Are Steve & Leo going?!
  • Miss Suzanne

Guess what?  My son just graduated C school, and was on his way to Bahrain when he found out that he had a SIX DAY layover... so he decided that he would just come home for 6 - actually 5 days instead!  God is so good to us!  :D

  • chriscwick

Outrageous! Wow Suzanne! How wonderful. Enjoy your guy's layover!
  • chriscwick

Donna - maybe I ask Cherry to give him a message from his Mama!
  • chriscwick

The sale of "Ms. Roxanne" (red ninja 600) - first sale fell through. Trying again tomorrow! Alex says he'll hold the $$ hostage till we get a phone call.
Muhh hahahahahahahahaha! So love his style!!!!!!!
No hits on the "Green Goblin"(Ninja 500), yet.
The garage looks almost reasonable with them out.

    TO THE GIRLS

What's so poignant about this picture?
Well, it shows a line of little girls holding hands facing the
    immensity of ocean waves.
Alone they might be washed away, but together they stand strong.
Thank you each for holding my hand somewhere along the way when I was
facing a wave of my own.
I hope you will reach for my hand when your own wave threatens.

    All of us girls..
    Old and  young...
    Near and far...
Hold special memories of good times we've shared.
We've had our share of hard times when our friends were there to make
    us feel better.
    We've shared...
    Our hearts
    Our time
    Our secrets
    Our fears
    Our hopes
    And our dreams.
Let us never break the chain of friends!

If you get this twice or more, you are lucky to have more than one girlfriend.

    Someone will always be prettier.

    Someone will always be smarter.

    Their house will be bigger.

They will drive a better car.

Their children will do better in school.

And their husband will fix more things around the house.

    So let it go,
    Be Happy!
The prettiest woman in the world can have trouble in her heart.
And the richest woman you know, she's got the car, the house, the
    clothes....might be lonely.
And the Word says 'If I have not Love, I have nothing.'

    So, again, love you.
    Love who you are.
Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say

'I am too blessed to be stressed too anointed to be disappointed!'
    I like  that!
    'Winners make things happen.
    Losers let things  happen'
Be Blessed ladies and pass this on to encourage another woman.
'To the world you might be one person,
But to one person you just might be the world.'

    Got this in an email & thought to share it with you all;

HERE'S TO YOU MY N4M FRIENDS
  • chriscwick

Kathy - She does rank him...ooooooooooo....I lLIKE IT! but it's sneaky, underhanded...oooooooooooo...I STILL LIKE IT!
  • chriscwick

Speaking of underhanded, etc., husband gave minimal info on yesterday's final sale of "ms. Roxanne"... is holding info so DSS (dumb sh__ son) will call home! Good god we are nothing but needy! Sneaky, but needy.

I posted some new pics of DDS on my page. They are from the back, I think from a fellow student, but a pic is a pic! Check 'em out!
  • chriscwick

Kathy - told husband about DD ordering DDS to call...thanks for the giggle. He loved the idea. During the day he'd smile & I knew that's what he was thinking about.

Leta-isn't it neat to know our kids brought together so many people?

Donna- love the new nickname for DDS. Will use it (TB) & DDS (darling' dumbs__t son) interchangeably if that's OK?! Chewtoy is another option, but one must visualize him being "chewed out", as well as, chewed upon.
  • Mom2aSailor

Kathy, my dd calls ALL THE TIME!! :) I don't mind at all, but sometimes I think somethings wrong b/c she'll call almost daily!  LOL

  • chriscwick

Donna - love the tag, where from?
Oh! Not dumb, just not peeved with Steve!

    Isn't DD = darling daughter

For me @ this moment in time,
DS = darling Son. But of late
    DDSS = darling dumbsh_t Son
    DDS = darling dumb sh_t
    Still...no call.
  • chriscwick

  • chriscwick

He DDSS, exists and is hangin' out with four footed friends. This is called "parachuting". Donna, do you know what it is?!

  • chriscwick

WARNING: gushing, besotted mom posting here.

    Morning!

A young lady, I guess in MWD school with Chris, has posted pics &, lucky for us, "tagged" him on FB! I threw a couple of them onto N4Ms Bahrain Moms & a bunch into my page's photo albums. (Still getting the hang of doing that!) That smile of his lit up our house, he just looks soooo happy. Proves he's right where he should be. Made our evening.
  • chriscwick

Donna - any news? I messaged Chris. Is Steve on base?
  • chriscwick

    Donna ?

We're any of the numbers I gave you helpful?
  • chriscwick

Thank goodness. Chris has been bugging me for info. Let Steve know we're all thinking about him & the family.
  • Mom2aSailor

Donna, how scary!  I am glad his surgery went well!!  Keep us updated on how it is healing.

  • Jane-Adam's mom

Thoughts and prayers are with you and your sailor.

  • chriscwick

Ladies, how are our guys, Steve & Daniel doing today?!

Donna - I saw a post on K-9 Heroes FB that the competition at Lackland is on now. They posted some profiles of MWD Teams. Didn't see Cherry & Santucci yet. If Steve has access it might be fun for him to look in on them. Wonder if there is a feed for the kennel to watch the trial? Now, that would be cool.
  • chriscwick

Got a call from "Chewtoy"! Had to beg, but got a call.

Dog school is proving to be lots of work. He is busting his hump. I figured he was ultra focused & he certainly is. He considers this the most important thing he's done personally & in his NAVY career.

His main training Pooch-a-roo (other than a .40 caliber ammo can) is a male, 75 lb. Malinois. He told me the name, but didn't write it down.

We got a date for graduation and are working out the details of getting & staying there. I've got a long term sub that I've got to cover.

Santucci & Cherry will be there for competitions at the end of April. Chris is hoping they kick some major tail!

    Nice pics Leta!

    Donna, How's Steve?
  • chriscwick

Regards to Moms of current, hopeful & in training MWD Handlers; some good reads are: "Dogs of War"(read) "Soldier Dogs"(reading now), "K-9 Heroes"(will read). K-9 Heroes author has a page on FB too.
