Anyone on here have a son/daughter that left April 28th receive the Form Letter yet? I got the Kid in the box May 1st but no form letter and his recruiter does not have the address. The chief of that office looked online and she said nothing has been updated.
KMOM, If it is any consolation, I know how you feel. My son is currently deployed on a destroyer in the Persian Gulf. People say the same thing to me. I was so anxious right before he deployed. I recommend prayer and the support of other Navy Moms. Those who have not had a child in the military really do not understand. I think they mean well though, for the most part. There is a Navy Mom group in the DFW area that meets for dinner once a month. If you live nearby, I encourage you to join us. The moms in our group are fantastic and so supportive. They have helped me a lot in dealing with my son's deployment because most of them have experienced it with their sons and daughters. I will say that it is no use trying to argue with someone as you described below because that person's opinions are unlikely to change. Just know that the ladies on this site actually do understand what you are going through. If you would like more details about the DFW Navy mom group, I will be glad to provide them. Best wishes and safety to your son and peace for you.
Hello Ya'll! I have a son in RTC with a PIR on 6/12/15. We are from the Houston area. We are on a count down till we leave to watch his PIR and are so excited we can barely sit still. Look forward to connecting with people from the area and sharing information about this new adventure our son is embarking on.
Hi Jennifer! We are in the Houston area too. My son had PIR on 1-23-15. It is an adventure for sure. Have you joined the Facebook group for your son's ship and division for 6-12-15?
Hi Jennifer!! How's your area with all that rain?? I'm in the Southwest area and we usually don't get rain that often. They say we are the devils belly button because everything happens around us, lol!!
I agree with Baby Dukies Mama, look up Sarge and try to make it to the meet and greet, he gives you very valuable information for your PIR.
My sailor's PIR was on 5/08/15 and it was an amazing experience. Enjoy every moment with your sailor!!
I am from Pearland and my grandson is a Navy Nuke in power school in Goose Creek South Carolina. He's scheduled to graduated on September 4th. So proud of him!
I also would love to join a lunch or dinner group. My daughter is in Japan. She is an Aviation Electronics Technician. Pam, we are close... I live in Greatwood.
Hi! I'm Christy. My girl is in the Great Lakes currently. She left 7/7. We are from a small town just south of SA. My hubby and son were in the Army so all this Navy stuff is new to us. We have yet to hear from Chyenne or her recruiter so I haven't even sent a card yet. Pray hat she's staying strong.
I really think it is harder on us than it is our Sailors. These kids are tough. I am in the Houston area. My son was in Great Lakes in the December and January. It was so cold for him and us when we went to graduation. Hang in there.
Hi new moms! My son has been in for a year. I live in New Braunfels. As soon as you get your PIR date get a room at Navy Lodge. You don't want to miss it! No news is good. People are watching out for them. They are not alone! Hang in there!
I am trying to find some Navy Mom's in San Antonio. My daughter is in C school at Ft. Sam Houston. My step-day (her step granddad) died this evening. She has made the choice to not come home for the funeral. The reason for this is that her paternal grandmother has only been given two months to live after being diagnosed with end state leukemia. She wants to wait because she doesn't want to be rolled back. I know that she is going to need a lot of support and someone to talk to. She can't go to their chaplain because he is only interested in getting them out of the Navy. TIA. Please feel free to PM me.
Anyone in the Houston/Sugar Land area that would like to get together for lunch or dinner? I'm in Pecan Grove and work at Buffalo Speedway x 59. My son is stationed at Tinker AFB in Ok City.
Terces, I have wondered if there is another one they could go to. She has lost several classmates that have went to him the next thing they know they have been separated and on their way home. She is scared to go to him.
Dutchess I live across the Street from Ft Sam. She's more than welcome to come and visit me. I take my dogs for a long walk every afternoon over at Brack Park. She can tag along anytime she wants. It might be good therapy for her!
Hi 1proudmom,
I am in the Houston area too. My son did not want very much help from us anyway. He had some flash cards which I think we're helpful. As a whole family we would try to do the flash cards with him and of course the military alphabet. Other than that really he did most on his own and that was not much. In boot camp he was the education petty officer so...I guess he did pretty good. She will be fine. Try not to worry too much if you can but I am sure you will anyway. My son went in last December so yes it was so cold in Chicago. He did not like that very much and either did we when we went to visit. Good luck and keep us posted. Ask anything!
Thank you all for the support. But last question, does anyone know if being a seaman is a good thing. That's what she's going as and I feel like she should have waited for a better opening.
