We did not flood but some of the people in our neighborhood did. We live around Lake Houston. I am sorry to hear that you guys flooded. Are you fixed up yet or do you still have some repairs to do?

I work from home so still here.

Hello to MarNavyMom and MamaBuck2017!   I am new to the Navy, have a son in BC right now and I live in Dayton (Liberty Co.)...I'm in the Atascocita /Humble area at least twice a week.  We flooded w/ 7 inches throughout.  We are about 1 month from being finished w/ repairs and construction.  Would love to hear from you girls.  

Im in Katy, Texas and my sailor finished boot camp 11/22. He’s in A school in Great Lakes right now. And yes Harvey was a bad boy. I didn’t get any flooding but all around me I did. A lot of people lost everything and they are still trying to get it all back together. My son will be coming home for Christmas and then he goes off to Virginia for about a year. I’m glad to hear from you Texas moms. I hope you guys have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. 

I’m in Spring.  We had 2 ft of water in the house and should move back in end of Jan.  Son is currently deployed on the US Theodore Roosevelt.  

I' m in the Cy Fair area. My son is currently at boot camp  (since November 9th) and God willing his PIR is January 5th.  We didn' t flood but several of our neighbors did. 

Hi Ladies,  So sorry for all those who were flooded, and thankful the rest of you who didn't.  We do not have a contractor yet.  Four dogs in the house (including my recruit's 2 which I vowed to watch over).  Oh what fun!  Currently one gift under the tree - lol - trying to get out the door today to do a little shopping.  My boys are all very understanding.  Whether 4 inches or 4 feet of water -- floors, walls and cabinets have to come out.  But, honestly, feeling very blessed. God is so very good.  This is the season of perpetual hope! Super proud of my young men, thankful for my family and the roof over my head.  Watching Miracle on 34th Street and White Christmas helps :)  A call from my boy would be the best Christmas gift.  Merry Christmas to all!!

Hi! We are in Brazoria and my son is in BC now. I’m sure he is miserable with all the snow he’s probably shoveling,he got over the Texas Snow miracle we had here before he left pretty darn quick.

My son is in BC and the 9th is his PIR.  I am in Liberty co. which is about an hour and 1/2 from you.

TravelMomma, my son is also a GM. He left for Great Lakes fourteen years ago this month.  When are good days to get together for you and you, Midnight12? A Sunday afternoon?

TravelMomma!  I used to live in Harlingen when I was a tiny toddler!  My brother was born there.

My son left from Sugar Land for boot camp on Feb 8th.   I hope that he is not freezing....He was looking forward to seeing snow 

Quick question- if my son (who is a Nuke and will be in training for the next 2 years) buys a car in SC (where he will be for at least a year) can he register it in TX? Does he have to come to TX to do so?

Check with Texas DMV  txdmv.gov I believe he can do everything online. 

fouraggies!  My sailor, who left about the same time, said he only has seen 1 sunrise.  Otherwise they are all indoors!  Plus if it snows they have to shovel it.  So I bet your sailor is not wanting snow anymore!

Hi y'all!  Quick question -- my child will be graduating with Class 11-18G after spending some time in H-Class.  Is there any way to determine graduations dates?  Thank you!

Hi I'm for the RGV also my daughter just graduated this past weekend on the 6th from Bootcamp.  Words can't explain how proud I am of her it was a wonderful experience loved spending the whole weekend with her sightseeing.

My son is beginning A School at the end of this month. I can't believe it has been a week since he graduated!!  I live SW of Houston, are there any moms in the area that get together?

Congratulations ProudMom!  I live in Missouri City.  My son has been in for just over 2 years now.   He's getting ready for his first deployment in July.   So excited for him and know he'll be OK.   Trained and worked hard and i'm full of confidence for him.

He'll be coming home in May for 2 weeks...  Can wait.

There is a group i joined called "Tip of the Spear".    Its a group of military moms/dads/sisters, etc. who collect various items, donated or bought, pack them  and ship to the worst outposts where our troops come into the most harm.    It is not a monthly gathering but rather box packing get together.   I've been to two and love it.   Makes me feel closer to my son.

There is a charity golf outing on May 3 that will benefit this group.   If you want to get involved, go online to tipofthespear.org     Mary Williams is located here in Houston.

Good Morning Ya'll!!

I am from the small town of Moulton TX located in Central Texas. My son left in Feb for OCS  and is past the 8th week so he is headed for a May 18th graduation.  Lucky for me, my son will be training, hopefully, mostly in Texas for the next 2 years. We are a first time military family so I am very thankful for these groups that have valuable information in them! The acronyms are a bit confusing I have to admit but I hope to catch on soon.  

Happy to be a part of the Texas Moms group. My son leaves for BT at the end of this month.  We're excited and nervous, but we know he's going to do well.  Just reading all the info that I need to learn keeps my mind busy.  Thank you all for the support. 

My son is set to graduate C School in Norfolk in June.  He will have leave after that and wants to come home to TX. He will be returning to Norfolk after leave.

Does he have to pay to fly / travel home for leave and back to VA ? 

Do you have any recommendations on airlines that give military discounts ?

My son left for BT last week. We live in Pearland and I'm still trying to figure all this stuff out.  I'm extremely proud of all our kids and know that the rest of you are as well.

My son got to BC on Monday. We got his box on Thursday. That was hard, but I am so proud of him and now I am just waiting for the form letter. I am really glad to be able to connect with other Moms who are having the same feelings and questions I am having.

Hi Texas Moms!

My son finished A school last week and was set to come home for his first 2 wk. leave, before being stationed in Bahrain.  A few days before he was due home he was informed he was being sent to Virginia for several more months of school. Uuggghhh! We were crushed.  But genuinely happy for him and opportunities of more training.  Looking forward to seeing Virginia for first time after he's been there a while.  My point of this post I guess is as his family, we had better learn our lesson again that they are in the Navy's hands and we had better learn to go with the flow! I used to say, "because I'm the Mama"....now I'm learning to say, "I'm just the mama".  He landed in VA a few hours ago, he's safe and excited for the change. My Texas boy has had 7 long months in Great Lakes! Take care , from Liberty Co.

Congratulations to al the Texas Navy Moms who have sons/daughters on the move to new assignments. A new chapter is in store for them and their Mamas! :)

To 9699mom - a change in plans is the new norm.  Hard for moms to accept and adapt to, but its a reality.  Hug and love on them when you get the chance and pray for them when you can't.  Proud of ALL they are doing!!

9699mom: Amen to that sister! It was a HARD lesson for me to learn and I hated it every bit. It is what it is but the good LORD give us strength and peace about it...
