My daughter is in OS A School in Great Lakes.  She has been there for a few weeks but her actual A school (from what I understand) just started 8/6.  She is planning to come home after A school for a visit so I hope it all works out.  I assume in a few more weeks she will get her orders for after A school.

Hi KaraJTX, my best friends son is from San Marcos and is in Div 359.

  • RhondaI71

my daughter went in on 7/31.  Has anyone heard anything for this group?

  • USNMOM4LIFE

Hi All!!!  My son heads out to boot camp Oct 2.  His A school will be about 1 hour away from my sister's home so that eases my mind.  I read an entry about going to Bahrain after A school from one mom.  If I could wrap my son in bubble wrap I would.

  • ctreporter

Hi, all.  My son leaves for boot camp Sept 26.  Does anyone have any info on going to airport to see him off after he swears in at MEPS?  He will be shipping from Houston, as we are in Pearland.  Thanks.

  • 9699mom

    Hi ctreporter,

My son also flew to bc out of Houston and went through MEPS in Houston.  We were not allowed to go with him to airport, had to say goodbye at MEPS that morning early. Seems harsh, but they know what they are doing and it was for the best.  They are with a big group and meet more groups at airport and they are super amped up and excited.  It’s good to let him start this journey at the airport alone.  I promise, you’ll know what I’m talking about in a few months.  Keep us posted.  Will be praying for you. You got this!

  • ctreporter

Well, I just asked him and he said he didn't want us to go to airport, so problem solved.  I'm good with it.  I think he's anxious to get going, so I'm excited for him.  I'm sure he will be fine.  I'm actually dealing with it pretty well.  I'm glad he's on this journey.  I think it will be a great way to get a start on his life.

Is there anyone whose son left on Sept 6 and is in DiV 434? I am trying to figure out the mailing address.  My son's handwriting is not very good and he has erase marks on the letter from the Navy.  I need to send back the info about graduation.  Please send me a private message on my facebook account (Jen Westerman) with the address. It has a rainbow in the small picture and an orange flower in the big pictures.  TIA

  • TxMom

My daughter has been home visiting before reporting to her duty station but received a call and is have to report a little sooner than expected.  So sad, I know we will be able o communicate a little more since she has her phone but wow this feels like we are sending her off to BC all over again.  I guess with time it gets a little easier.  She is excited and nervous to be reporting and starting her Navy career after OS A school but so sad to see her go again.

@ Proud Mom thanks for the invite, I just saw it but I am about 8 hours from El Paso.  Would have loved to met other Navy moms/families.

  • 1underGod

TxMom...I hear u. There's extreme joy seeing their faces at the airport... But oh does it feel terribly heartbreaking to watch them leave again. A rollercoaster of emotions is what we ride as a Navy family.  Hopefully it will get easier. If and when she gets deployed, it's BC all over again. With no communication for 3-4 weeks. That's why we learn to appreciate every moment with them n every call hearing their voice. May Good bless your daughter n your entire family. Navy Mom Strong

Hi y'all!  My son left for boot camp on November 15th.  He is in Division 070. I received my first letter on Wednesday! He is keeping up a good attitude.  His letter said that the dentist wants to remove his wisdom teeth. I would imagine that would be rough to do while training. Anxious to get a second letter to see if it delays his graduation any because of any downtime from the procedure.

  • Dianne

Greetings from El Paso Texas. Mother to a future sailor with a PIR of 1/4/19. Praying every minute there are no delays ❤️

  • 1underGod

  • 9699mom

Hi Dianne from El Paso - welcome to this group.  So excited about your upcoming PIR.   Everything still on track?  The ceremony is just amazing and emotional.  My son was sent to Bahrain in October and he is loving things there.  This has been such an education for us all.  Have a great trip to see your new sailor.

    Hello 9699mom

I believe everything is on track since I didn’t get a call telling me otherwise. He needed to catch up on some tests due to getting behind ( had pink eye).  I start getting nervous then I am reminded that it’s him that needs to push through :) worrying will only make it worse.

Im so happy to hear about your son and can’t wait till PIR.  Omygosh has it been! Everyone here is incredible and so understanding. Thank you

  • NavyMomGayle

Hi Y'all!  I am new to this group.  My sailor just graduated from boot camp last Friday - January 11th.  PIR was impressive and I loved it!  My son is in Mississippi for "A" School now, studying for Logistics Specialist.  I am a new Navy Mom and I am interested in learning all I can about Navy life.  I would appreciate direction to learn about "A" school, and beyond.  What to expect, plan visits, etc.  Where can I read about it all?

  • NavyMomGayle

I forgot to say that I live in the Houston area.

  • MarNavyMom

Welcome NavyMomGayle, I also am in the Houston area. Is your son in Meridian Mississippi or Gulf Port? My son is in Meridian.

  • Tater.in.Texas

    Hi, neighbors,

I am from Wylie (Rockwall County) and my daughter is currently at boot camp (DEP 1/15/2019). She also lives in Plano, Texas, too, with her Dad.

She is going into the Hospital Corpsman -San Antonio for A school, from my understanding. This is all so new and confusing to say the least.

  • Shellie

Hi, my son left on the 28th, already feels like it's been weeks and not just days. We're from the Orange County area a little town called  Bridge City.

  • beckilu

Hi, my son leaves next week.  We are from the Houston/Cypress area.  After boot camp graduation, my son will go to San Antonio for Corpsman school.  That's about all l know for now.

Hello from Amarillo, Tx! My son left on July 18th. Just impatiently waiting for his box and form letter.

  • LeendaG

    Hi Fellow Navy Moms!

My sailor son is currently deployed and has been gone since May 1st but it feels like so much longer than that.

I hope everyone is doing okay.  I am trying to read through all the comments and love that there is so much love for our sailors expressed here.

Praying for safety and success to all of our sailors.

BTW, I am in East Texas in a town called Henderson which is close to Tyler, Texas and about 100 miles East of Dallas.

  • Rhonda

I'm from San Antonio and my son just graduated from BC and is waiting for his QM A School to start. Anyone else from San Antonio?

  • Greek Mom

Hello Rhonda....Congrats to your son! My son enlisted two years ago and is now stationed at Kings Bay Georgia. I am from San Antonio and graduated from Judson many moons ago! LOL! I got married and moved to New Braunfels, where I still reside.

    Greek Mom

  • Rhonda

Thanks Greek Mom. He just got his orders and his headed to San Diego in December. Good thing because winter in Chicago is really cold for a South Texas boy.

  • Greek Mom

Yes! LOL..Texas boys are use to heat and the sun, not being knee deep in snow! San Diego sounds so nice! I bet he is very happy to get that assignment!

  • prayermom

Yes, Chicago winters are rough on Texas boys!! He will learn to love the weather in San Diego:)

    Hello Texas moms!

My kiddo, a former student of Texas A&M,  leaves Dec. 9 for the Great Lakes.  My dad was in the Navy during the Korean War, but all of this is 100 percent new to us, so I'm trying to play catchup on all the information.  We live in Houston, near the Med Center.

  • Ty

Hello from Houston, my son leaves for BC 11/25  and has no idea how cold it will be, it’s no comparison to our on and off winter days.

  • Stacey

Hello from Hutto!   My son is in week 5 of BC.  PIR 1-17-20  Hutto is in central Texas and is home of the great Hippo Nation.
