Boot Camp Girlfriends

cas15 my boyfriend left for bc 07/08 and his mom got the first letter that gives you all his information and his grad day,(PIR) and at the end he gets to write a small message. We got that about the 7th day after he left and i joined the group to his same DIV and almost all the Moms and Wives or girlfriends hve gotten letter I still have not gotten one but it all depends on how their doing and how much time each ones has!!! So Im crossing my fingures for today!!!!

cas15- i have not recieved the form letter, and i'm not sure of his family's phone number, i know he wouldn't have sent it to friends, and that his dad probably recieved it, but i don't have contact with his dad, unfortunately:/ I don't think i'll be going to his PIR because they're only allowed 4 people I believe, which would be his family, but I might get lucky, and i'm sure they'd call me or something. I wrote down my address, phone numbers, and emails for him, and he took that to boot, hopefully they didn't take it from him!! I'm hoping that all of this pans out, and things get settled quickly, to give me piece of mind.!!

He is allowed to keep ypur address and you will be getting your letters in about 3 weeks and your first call in about 3 weeks fromm the day he went in.

hi everyone. i just joined this group bc my boyfriend left for boot camp in great lakes on july 29th and i have no idea what to expect. i didnt even know about this form letter yall are talking about. also some of you have been mentioning getting phone calls at some point...they are allowed to call some? it has only been like 4 days since i have spoken to him and i am already having a bit of a hard time bc im feeling very overwhelmed with this whole situation. i hate not knowing what to expect. any help would be great! thank you so so so much!

cas15-i know!:) i'm super excited to hear from him..it'll be the most reassuring thing ever!:) anddd i believe his Aschool is in Cali, where abouts, i'm not positive, but I know it's in Cali!

AmbW- hey hun! it's hard, i'm not going to lie..but it definitely does get easier. know that he is always thinking about you, and that you never leave his thoughts, that all he wants is to come home and be with you, or hear from you. i've heard that they really love getting letters, but don't send them everyday, send multiple at a time, their limit is 5 a week. you're always in his thoughts, but he will get busy, and just like the rest of us, it's a waiting game. you'll be waiting and hoping for letters day in and day out, i know i am. i've been answering every unknown number that calls me with the hope it might be him:) just stay positive, and keep busy. it only will eat at you when you're sitting home thinking about the negatives of this. remember, we're all in the same predicament, and we're all here for support:)

AmbW- no problem!:) we're all in this for the same reason, to support our men and women, and loved ones. we're one giant support system. things get easier after about a week i'd say...think of it as each day that passes is a day closer to his PIR:)

can i send him letters before i get my first one from him? there is no way to know his address or do i use the address on that form that his parents will receieve?

AmbW - you can speak to his recruiter about the address, and i'm pretty sure the address on the form's that his parents will recieve is valid..i'd need someone to second that. i'm not positive. i haven't revieced a letter yet, nor written one, i don't yet have the writing address.

AmbW - does he know your address by heart, or does he have it written down??

oh ok maybe i will just write to that address on the form just incase. id hate for everyone to get letters and not him. yes he does know my address by heart though.

AmbW - I wouldn't worry, i'd write it down just incase there became a mix up of some sort. In about 3 weeks he should be able to write, and make occasional phone calls. No worries, it's all just a waiting game:)

oh ok great cas15! thanks! i cant wait until his parents get that so i can start writing. and i was just reading somewhere that they can get letters all the time, no limit. but they can only write letters to us on sundays until week 3 and then they have 20 minutes every night to write. maybe thats wrong though.

cas15 - i read it on another site, it's not that they can't get more than 5 seperate letters a week, it can get them PT though. (physical training)

hey guys..my boyfriends parents got his box of belongings today! so excited to mail him a letter but im a little confused. someone said not to use the return address? ill be talking to his parents over the phone so does anyone know where exactly i should tell them to look for the address we can write to him at?

kelly10-17-07 - ohhh, i didn't intend on sending birthday stuff, or anything like that, his birthday isn't until march. ahah. i'm hoping for a letter sooonnnn...i'm missing him badly:((

aww thats great tiffany! i want to do that too! ok im sorry but i have yet another question...im so frustrated..his parents said that there was no "form letter" with the package. they said there were a few pieces of paper but nothing with an address or DIR or division number or anything. will that come serperatly in a few days? i was under the impression it was supposed to be in or with his package of clothes.

AmbW - it could possibly be caught up in mail or possibly not packaged right and sent back to the base, i wouldn't worry:)

AmbW / Cas15 - I'm soooo excited to read it..Except total excitement killer!! I got home..expecting to read it...my uncle took it with him along with all the other mail and isn't home yet Dx GRRRR. I'll try not to cry...not too much:)

kelly-- that is so precious im sure i will have to stop every couple of seconds also to clear out the eyes haha. so exciting though to hear what i have to look foward to with weekly letters coming and everything!
thanks for the advice on the form letter everyone im hoping it will come within the next week and if it doesnt im marching my hind end down to his recruiters office haha. but cas15 that makes me feel better bc im sure his will just be a little later. cant wait though! and cant wait for those letters! hope your uncle gets back soon nicole haha what a bummer! id be soooo anxious!

kelly - oh, i know!! i wrote back saying don't go getting yourself into trouble!! i don't mind you writing me, i love it, DUH! i just don't want to be your reason for getting yelled at.. i'm really wondering how he's doing with his mouth..he gets a bit mouthy sometimes..and has smartass remarks when people get defensive with him..sounds like he's doing good though:)

kelly-congrats! that is so exciting! if you dont mind me asking what is your husbands job? my boyfriend will be going to a school in great lakes for aecf and i was wondering if anyone else's men were in or going to be in that job.

haha aw cas15 im so glad you got it and yes im sure kelly is right and he will be a little better each day! i got my form letter today haha im a little behind yall but thats ok bc its so exciting for me to see what to look foward to and have an idea of what to expect. i just sealed up my first letter to send to him tomorrow. its sooo long i hope he has time to read it haha and i sent a seperate envelope with some pictures and some blank pieces of paper since i heard they dont get much paper.

i put 2 pictures wrapped up in 3 pieces of notebook paper. do yall think that is ok? im paranoid about them feeling the pictures and making him do PT or embarrassing him or something. i cant feel it through the envelope or anything but it feels a little heavier/ less bendy than the other one. i just dont know whats normal and am obviously worrying too much i know ha

i wrote it exactly how it was in the lefthand corner from his letter he sent me..

i know he has a large family, so they might be invited over the girlfriend, which i understand!
and, do you know if they can recieve small, pictures, nothing scandelous, normal photos?

regaurdless of weather he's at boot or not, he does not/will not recieve those..i have more dignity than that!! i've just heard they love getting photos. but i also had heard they get ALOT of grief for them.

i figured. and he sounded really happy..said he misses me lots, can't wait to see me and the food wasn't too bad, that he got his peanut butter shot, and it really hurt. that his division has some listening issues!! lol. uhm, he said that he is supposed to be able to PIR on the 10th if all goes well!!! so it's very exciting that he's doing good. he's really struggling with the recruit writing!!! ahah

yeah, he said his butt kinda hurt, that it really hurt to do anything, haha.
my boyfriends writing is very sloppy. its small, sloppy and it all ends up going downhill.


i'm not positive what his rate is...he keeps switching it up!!! he's considering going to SEALS now.

He had something chosen, I can't remember what it was, but in the letter he mentioned he was considering changing...i'm trying to talk him out of it, because there's a very small chance of succeeding out of SEALS camp. I mean, I know he can do it..I just don't know if he'd be able to handle the extended schooling. He gets impatient, VERY impatient.

I know he has the qualifications, because he had high enough scores and physical was okay, because he was considering it for awhile, then switched to the current, which he seems to enjoy the idea of very much..I kinda think it's just the man in him..wanting to do bigger and better things. y'know?
