he can write to you in addition to his parents. my boyfriend is sending one to me and one to his family. probably wont be any more than once a week and not until the 3rd week.but a package will come and a letter will come with it or a few days after it to his parents i would assume with an address and you can start writing to that address if you want to before he even writes to you or to tell him that you want him to and give your address if he doesnt know it. apparantly he gets a couple phone calls at some point too.. thats what i h

Hey guys! My boyfriend just left Tuesday, it's been so tough!
But I just sent out all the letters I wrote him today, and I'm looking forward (even if it's weeks away...) to getting a letter from him!
Glad to know there's others feeling the same as me!

Hello Ladies! I'm kinda slow to join stuff.. haha. But my boyfriend only has a week left (yay!) It has been a rough ride...a rollercoaster I don't plan on riding again. I sent him letters everyday, pictures every other day...(in pink envelopes.. haha he wanted the bright pink ones because it reminded him of me). The call halfway through, and flowers on my birthday delivered to my work (that sly guy) were the two best parts of boot camp. But it the first week is the hardest, (and this last week is hard too! I just want to see him!) and doesn't help that my mailman lost my last letter. Anyway! Hello again. I better get back to work...

ok guys... im so bummed right now. my boyfriends dad called me last night with a DIFFERENT address than the one he gave me the day before. i had already sent out like 6 pages worth of letters and some pictures to the wrong address! im freaking out!!! everything was the same except i had sent it to Illinois Street instead of Ohio Street. does anyone know if maybe it will still get to him? i had SR his name, his ship and division and RTC. but it was 3122 Illinois Street instead of the Ohio Street one! i have NO idea where that address came from and im so sad his dad gave it to me! great lakes IL and 60088 was correct though at least haha

just googled it online and it seems that there are NO ohio streets for recruits. all ship numbers seem to be on illinois st or kansas st... so maybe illinois street was right. AHHHHH. anyones boyfriend or husband ever at Ohio Street??

Also, we were given the wrong address at first so we were mailing stuff like crazy and then found out he was at a different address. Don't worry - it will get to him! My boyfriend actually still got mail before any of his shipmates, even with the address mix up!

haha ok thanks everyone. yes i do know his ship and division number and put those on there. and no his dad loves me so i dont think he is trying to keep me from writing him..i would hope at least haha. i guess either one will work..that is what ive been seening researching it a little. the ohio one was on his form letter and the illinois one was on some other paper that came also. so weird. thanks for all the advice..im just going to assume he got them bc everyone seems to say as long as ship and div and name are correct it will get to him.

ambw - it will get to him, i adressed mine wrong the first time too, and i'm pretty sure it'll get there as long as you have the division and ship number along with his name and zip code correct!!

i'm sure he undertstans that mail is verrrrry slow, but watch the weight of your letters some RDC's make them open em and check them if they're too heavy!

How long did it take to get your letter? YAAAAY!

Well, he left on the third... and I was on vacation from the ninth until now.
So I'm assuming from 3-5 days after his first Sunday, when he was first allowed to write.

My boyfriend left on July 29th and I haven't gotten a letter yet. I did get a phone call! Which was so great and he said he had written 5 letters that he would send on sunday (this past sunday) but still no mail... hopefully next week though!

It's usually a few weeks til they're actually allowed to send out. My bf left July 20th, and i got my first letter Aug 3rd, if that helps any:)

SAH- my boyfriend left on the 29th too but i have gotten NOTHING so far. urgggg. im so glad to hear yall are getting letters and phone calls. im assuming ill get some this week.

I GOT MY LETTERS! They came yesterday, there were 10 of them hahaha apparentally he writes them after lights out. AmbW our boyfriends PIR at the same time YAY! Anyway, he said it's really not too bad, he doesn't mind the PT and the food is decent. The classes are boring and he might start going to church which is never something he's done before. It was SO good to hear from him! He said the RDCs told them to buy phone cards so he thinks they'll get to make calls this week. keep your fingers crossed! Let me know when you get letters AmbW

SAH that is so awesome!! im happy for you! glad to see someone on here with the same PIR! I hope they call us this week and i better get my letters soon or im going to worry haha. I will def let you know when they come. Have you made yoru flight reservations and stuff yet? I just made mine with his parents a couple of days ago but havent done hotels yet.

I don't know if I'm going to be able to go to his PIR :( His mom doesn't really like me... he wants me to go but I'm still deciding. I'd be afraid to travel alone and I don't want there to be drama on such an important day for him. I'll also be 34 weeks pregnant by then so I'd have to talk to my doctor about it, but most people can fly up to 36 weeks. I checked online about for tickets and hotels and stuff and it's pretty reasonable but I know prices will start going up soooon! I was worried about the letters too because I thought they'd come sooner, but I think something might be going on with the mail so I'm sure you'll get letters this week. He mailed it last Sunday and I didn't get them until yesterday, but the envelope was stamped for the 12th? It's confusing so I don't know how it works haha.

oh well that makes me feel a little better about the letters i guess haha. congrats on being pregnant! thats so exciting!! but that sucks about his mom and i understand what you mean about not wanting to create problems for his family that weekend. im sure he really wants you there so i know that is a big decision for you. you will figure it out. if you end up going let me know and we can meet in person and you can sit with me if you dont want to sit with his mom haha

everyone...i just saw that we are not allowed to hold hands with our sailors for the entire weekend. sad. i expected no kissing and hugging all over each other but no holding hands? so sad.

Well, I got another phone call. It was short but sweet! He's doing fine, sounds a little sick though. AmbW expect a phone call this week! I'm not sure if its the same because they are in different divisions but he said they were making phone calls this week and to make sure I keep my phone on me at all times. And I'll definitely let you know if I end up going I'd love to sit with you rather than his family hahaha. No holding hands? BOOOO. oh well, something is better than nothing though I guess.

I GOT THEM!!!! yayy. 8 pages of letters!! He sent them out on Sunday the 8th so it takes a whole week for them to get to me i guess. He is doing fine though and sneaking my picture around with him in his pocket haha. im soo happy i got them finally!

More letters came today! They don't sound quite as upbeat this time as they did last time, maybe he's given up on being optimistic... but it was also the 2nd week and he hadn't received any mail and was really upset about it. So I'm sure he's gotten mail by now. Hope everyone gets a letter this week!

Hello everyone.. My boyfriend's PIR is 9/24 like some other's I noticed on here. I haven't heard anything from him since he left (aug. 3rd) I'm really hoping to get a letter this week.. I write to him everyday, but send them out every other day. (I don't usually have much time to go to the post office to send them out.. they don't deliver mail to my house) This is probably the hardest thing I've ever had to endure. :( but I just try to keep busy & remember how proud I am of him :)

Chelsey - He left the 3rd..the usually have about a week of P-Days, (processing)
And You'll generally get a letter about 2/3 weeks after they've been there.
They get mail Mon-Friday I believe, they can only write on Sundays, until they earn more privlidges. GL mail is kind of messed up, and it takes awhile to get mail sometimes, depending on how far you are. I'm about 3 hours, it takes about 2/3 days to get my boyfriends mail. They'll get a phone call after awhile, about 3 weeks from entering..it's a 847 - 473 - XXXX number, DO NOT IGNORE any call that says "pay phone" "collect" or comes from an 847 number, that's your recruit. They'll be greatful for every letter they get. BC weeks are differant than our weeks, so our weeks will make them seeming that they've been gone for longer, even though they've been gone for less according to navy. Don't send any singing cards, or anything really sappy. Photos are okay as long as they're VERY modest, Like, rated G. Don't decorate envelopes, RDC's will make fun of them if they see that stuff. Any other questions feel free to ask, N4M is all for help:)

And Visitation rules...They can't techniqually go outside of their 50 mile radius from base...Uhm, I think they have to be checked out by his family..I can't confirm that though.

Yeha i'm like 9ish hours away so I figured it was going to take a while to get mail. I got his form letter in two days though haha. I wish his letters would come that fast.

They aren't allowed to write for 21/2 - 3 weeks, so just hang tight.

i got my 2nd batch of letters today and i just got a phone call!! we were just crying on the phone for half of it. it was so great to talk to him thought! i hope everyone has been having days like i have had today. i am so happy.

I got my phone call too! woop woop. It was good, he doesn't sound sick anymore. I cried the first phone call like the whole time. This time I held it together until the end haha. I was at work and trying not to get emotional.. it didn't work out well. He's a grad n go. YAY! Now I dont have to worry about the PIR drama from his family because his A school is here. He gets to finish his liberty weekend down here too. THANK GOODNESS. So today has just been the best day ever. I hope everyone is having great days! Hoping that everyone gets letters and phone calls!

cas- Yeah, I don't know how he does it. He said something about since his job is laundry if he keeps the laundry room spotless then he gets extra privileges or something, I dont really know how it works haha. Definitely keep us updated on what's going on since you're a week ahead!
