Kimmy, You must be so proud of your kids, and I bet your head is spinning. Do you think it will be harder for you when your daughter goes because she is a girl or easier because you have been through it before? They are so close together it barley gives you time to breath from when one finishes and the next begins.
Thank you for your advice and opinions Angie .....
The link that you posted was or is attached to many Ombudsmans newsletters this week/month and always take what your childs- ship command has to say very serious!!!!
OSPEC is stuff we really DON'T know...and I don't think we really want to know...but always play it safe!!!! Just read the DoD FB page..or maybe your childs ship's FB page....Play it safe!...
I know many people on N4Ms....have gone to FB because they have felt "policed"....this is a great site for information, one of many out there. We all become Navy mom VETS after sometime. ....N4M is a great place for info and great friendships. Take every bit of advice with a grain of salt! True behind it ...but some drama too!!!!

Hey My Ga. fb friends. We are planning on having lunch together. Go to Navyformoms(Ga. Group).Look on the rightside for the events. Click on the Ga. Event. We would love to have lunch with ya'll and get to meet/greet each other.
My son had PIR on 8/13 and is now in Pensacola....funny to see all the new sailors he has added to his Facebook page.
Even funnier was that while looking at his new sailor friends's pages on Facebook I realized that I had known a mother of one of the guys in his division from childhood. We have not been in touch for many years....I even took a photo of the two of them together!!!
My son called after a candlelight vigil his barracks had for this sailor. He also told me about the service at the chapel. Too sad for words to a Navy mother.
Hey everyone! Remember on Wedn. 10:00 Moment of Silence and Light the Blue Candles on Wedn. at some point during the day. All in Honor of HM3 J. Michael Swink.Thank you and a Salute to our Fallen Hero's.

Hello Purplebarbie, Here is a link to the ships N4M page http://www.navyformoms.com/group/usscarlvinsonfamily
I would join that group and ask the families on there for some info. Make sure to ask for the Ombudsmans e-mail and contact her/him and ask to be put on the ships family e-mail list and if the ship has a password protected website for families. If they do they will confirm who you are and send you a user name and password. Also search facebook many ships have a page there too.

INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With the holidays coming up, I can see where this could be a real problem.
The newest virus circulating is the UPS/Fed Ex/USPS Delivery Failure. You will receive an e-mail from UPS, Fed Ex, or USPS along with a packet number. It will say that they were unable to deliver a package sent to you on such-and-such a date. It then asks you to print out the invoice copy attached. DON'T TRY TO PRINT THIS. IT LAUNCHES THE VIRUS! Pass this warning on to all your PC operators at work and home. This virus has caused millions of dollars in damage in the past few days. Snopes confirms that it is real.
I would like to say "Hi" to all the new moms. Welcome aboard to the site and the Navy. The present Navy4Moms welcome each one of us. We are here support. There are lots of groups that you can join what ever the interest might be. If your group has a meet/greet lunch please go to it. Meet the other moms that are in your area. They have it the night before graduation is Chicago. The Navy is also an adventure for your child as much as it is for you. HooYah Navy Moms!!!
Just received a call from my son. He said that he called me at work but I did not answer the phone. Glad he called back. He said that they go through BS21 on Sunday 21st. Big test on the 19th. He can call again tomorrow to get the overnight liberty plans arranged. I was really happy to hear his voice. Time to get my blue candle.
Our son with be starting OCS in Dec 10 (hopefully still waiting on orders). Then he is slotted to attend SWO School. I would really like to hear from Moms sons or daughters have gone through the training. fb email is treeism@bellsouth.net I received fb requests but can't seem to locate the emails>
Good evening Ladies ~ been on N4M for 3 weeks now and just LOVE this site. Thankful for the insight to what our SR are enduring and to help ease the emptyness we fill as Mothers!
Hey DeanneCA- Keep yourself busy. This is going to be my 3rd year with out my daughter. When you send him his gifts ,give it time to get there.Where my daughter and her family is locateded it takes about 2 weeks for things to get there. We are here for you if you need us.
jaws - is this recent about Darkhorse? I ask because the same thing was sent around a month or two ago.
RE: packages.....I've been mailing boxes as a Platoon Mom with www.adoptaplatoon.org for almost 12 years now.. The USPS always suggests a loner lead time on packages, as does the government. They often end up arriving much earlier, but there are no guarantees. We tend to lean towards early is always best. Size does not even always dictate shipping time as I've sent over Christmas trees in larger boxes that arrived before ornaments in smaller packages. We just had our local Italian Club Christmas party where we have had a yearly collection for the troops for about 10 years. and today I am packing boxes of donations and will send out before the end of the week.
Adoptaplatoon is also collecting new or gently used Beanie Babies to send to the children of deployed troops. We have been asked to send them to our headquarters in TX by 12/8 to give them time to repackage and send them out to the children.
OK...I know not a lot of action here, but I thought I'd post an invitation anyhow.....
Anyone in Ohio?? If so....there is an Ohio Navy Moms group....and wanted to invite anyone in Ohio to our next lunch. We will be meeting January 15th in North Canton. We will be joined by a sailor. We also had a sailor at our cookie exchange in December!
ericsmom, My hubby and I brought our sailors girlfriend to the meet and greet back in 6/11/10 and at the Ramada there was brothers, sisters, gf's, Grandparents etc. I hope this helps...
Asisla - My heart goes out to you. I had the pleasure of having breakfast with my friends son during the Christmas holidays. He goes to Afganistan in February. I asked him his thoughts about going into the "danger zone". He cocked his head sideways and got a sheepish grin on his face and here is his reply: "I'm ready to go there, because thats what we do. Thats my job. The adrenaline rush I get when I'm in a jam makes it all worth while. And I'm good - so I dont worry about things." I was speechless. I told him to please dont tell his Momma that because she was already a "basket case" about his deployment. (already been to Irag) I was proud. I sat before a young man - all of 22 years of age - a United States Army Infrantry man. He was not afraid, he was ready for his duty. As a mother, I know we dont want to hear these answers, its like watching your son jump from the top of shed, knowing he's gonna break something. We will never stop worrying or wandering. But just remember, this is what our boys chose. Their career, their future. We have to support them. I'm sure its harder knowing he leaves his little family behind - all the more reason to go visit! May you find comfort during his deployment and my prayer is that he returns safely. Hugs to you!
cant wait to here from my child waiting on her letter to cum in i nw everybody here understands let go boo camp.. i just met very nice lady an all my players goes out to her an family . sorry about your lost .....
