That's just a few, but there are tons of shops out there. You can even find daily freebies on Craft Crave - http://digifree.craftcrave.com.
I don't normally print them out, although they could easily be. The pages are 12x12 and a lot of stores, such as Wal-Mart, print in that size. The pages can even be bound into really nice hardcover, coffee table styled books. I mainly make slide shows with music in the background and burn to DVD. They make really nice gifts.
I've only been doing this for about two years, but I'm a web/graphic designer by trade, so it wasn't that difficult for me to learn. On the other hand, paper scrap-booking would be a real challenge. I am a complete klutz when it comes to crafts whether it's sewing, drawing, crocheting, painting, etc. I seriously have two left hands when it comes to anything crafty, but I love, and envy a little, people who are crafty. It's so fascinating to me.
@Jody - It just darned on me...I do print some things. I also use scrap-booking to make the bulletin covers for my husband's church, wedding programs, invitations, etc. Here's a cover I did tonight for the holiday season:
pinkaboo- your pages are awesome. I really need to try that.
I did a scrapbook in a box for my sailor and thought I would share a couple of pics, of course there are a lot more flaps with pics than you see here but it turned out really cool.
@Lala - That is a really awesome box! Did you actually make the box yourself? Did you hand cut your alphas? Another question...Do you use that Cricut machine to do cutouts like that?
Yeah, I made the box. If you send me your email address I will send you the directions. Some of the alpha letters I made myself, like the God Bless the USA that goes around the edge. The glitter alpha for the ships name I bought. And, yes I have an expression that I use for almost all my cutouts. All I ever ask for as gifts is cricut cartridges lol. I have a bunch of cartridges. I love my cricut machine. :)
USS Stockdale- Do you still sell the little thing that was used to line up your Titles? I have been looking for one of those. Saw some on eBay a while back but it wasn't the original one. I would love to get one of those if you still sell them.
KimB- I do use Stand and Salute a lot. It is one of my favorite cartridges but I use several others for my Navy embellishments as well.
okay ladies, I need some ideas. I got a program for my laptop that I can design scrapbook embellishments and then cut them out with. I am going to be trying to learn how to do this over the weekend. If anyone has any ideas of phrases or other things I should make I would love your input. I am thinking about starting my own scrapbook business. If you would like a free Navy embellishment send me your regular email and your mailing address. Have a great weekend :)
I want to laminate my plane tickets to and from PIR this past Friday. Can I get them laminated without messing them up? They were the paper thin kind of ticket, not the thicker ones like concert tickets. My mom said that a regular laminating machine may make the entire ticket turn black. Someone else suggested I go to Walmart and buy contact laminating sheets and do it that way.
Hobby Lobby is an AWESOME store! If you go on their website, they have an online coupon that you can print out. This coupon is not advertised on their weekly sale flyer. You MUST print it out and bring it to the store in order for them to use the discount. Also, you can find their new weekly sales ad every Sunday. Michael's also works this way.
I have a purple cow laminating machine and I have never had anything turn black. That scares me :-( If you have a Xyron you can buy laminating cartridges for it and it doesn't use heat so it would probably work great. I just got the new Xyron Creatopia YAY, early birthday present. I am so excited to use it. It does adhesive or laminating to pages up to 12" wide. You can get all kinds of cartridges for it including magnet and fabric adhesive. Plus you can get die cuts and border cutters for it. It is very cool :-)
I don't have a laminating machine. I'm just starting to get back into scrapbooking so I need to replenish my supplies. I'll have to look into the laminating machine you have. Sounds like a great product!
I have used both the purple cow (heated) and the xyron (not heated) I love them both but I think if I had to choose the Xyron would win because I use the adhesive cartridge a lot for my scrapbooking business.
Hello Ladies. My son just went to A school at GL. My friend and I scrapped for many years but due to health issues with my husband I have been doing online books. I am ready to get back to the real world of scrapping, just went and got my Navy album at Hobby Lobby. I miss creating real albums. The funny thing is most people who meet me think "scrappy" is because of my personality. Well, that could be true too!
hello, ladies. I just joined. I am thinking of making a navy scapbook for my son. I want to start when he was in boot camp and go forward on all of his journeys. we have went to several ports to visit him and I would like to make pages for each trip. I have never made a scrap book so I am green .
I love scrapbooking. We have a free weekend crop ever month. Next weekend we will have the one for March. I am starting my sailors scrapbook then. I already did a scrapbook in a box for her now it's time to start the book lol. I love scrapbooking so much I am starting my own online scrapbooking business lol.
I'm hoping to get a Cricut and the cartridge when we get our tax refund. Can anyone tell me where to go for a good deal on these? I've been looking at Hobby Lobby's sales ad each week but they aren't on sale often.
cricutmachines.com is also great for the machines and cartridges. I have found some cartridges as low as $7.95 on that site and they often have the Expression for $149.00 to $189.00 and Walmart has the Expression for $189.00. EBay also has some very good prices on the machines. As far as using couple most if not all of the craft stores have exclusions for using the couple and most of the time they won't allow coupons on any Cricut machines or cartridges. A C Moore often has great sales on them as well.
Lala -- I go to scrapbook weekends all the time and was finally able to scrapbook my son's PIR and other photos this past weekend (PIR 10/29/10) without crying (happy/proud tears). I used the ribbon you made on one of the pages and loved it! Thank you again for making them.
ARGH! The 50% sale didn't apply to the scrapbook I wanted. I have to wait for the 40% coupon. Hopefully there's one next week! I did get some paper and stickers though. I priced the Cricut and they are WAY more at Hobby Lobby than online.
Cheryl, I am so glad you did the scrapbook. I bet it is awesome. I would love to see pics :-) Especially of the page that you out the ribbon on that I made for you. My son-in-laws PIR was the same as you sons. I wonder if they knew each other. He is in VA Beach now with my daughter/sailor. I hope your sailors is doing well.
camenae- try Michaels for the Navy Scrapbook as well, I think that is the one you wanted and you can go to their website and print a coupon for 40% off. I think they have it almost every week.
New to scrapbooking.....where to begin? Reviewed some videos and basic supplie list on Google. Looking for scrapbook suggestions since I want this book to tell the story of my Sailor son's life in the Navy.....could get BIG?
Anyone who lives in the VA Beach/Norfolk area. There is a group of us planning on meeting one day for lunch (shooting for Thursday) the last week of April. I will be there that week for spring break. We would love to meet as many other moms/families etc as possible for lunch one day. If you have a sailor or recruit in that area and they could possibly join us that would be awesome. If you are in that area and would like to join us please let me know. Send me a private message with your name and number. We will keep the time and place in private messages as well. Thanks, Lora
Redsmom- Be sure to post pics once you have some pages finished :-) Are we facebook friends? If not please add me. Send me a message to: uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com and I will give you my name for adding me on facebook. Thanks :-)
Wow is this the group I need to join. I am working on 2 Navy albums one for my husband who was in for 23 years and one for my son who just joined up in Jan. I want to make my son one so when he retires in 20 years I can bring his scrapbook and show off all the places and stuff he did.
I have made a photo quilt for my dad. I used a picture of everyone in the family all 21 of us. Use material that can be washed. Some photo transfer material washes out and if it is used alot you want to be able to wash it at some point. I got my stuff at Joanne's. Have fun. I love to quilt. I like to say that "quilts hug you with love."
I started a file of pics from the RTC Facebook page. I printed them out and I am scrapping them to show what all happen during BC. The dentist, PFA, Captian's cup and anything else I can find pics for.
That is a really good idea quilt lady :-) I have been making all kinds of new stuff for my Sailors scrapbook. She left for bootcamp 1 yr ago yesterday. So hard to believe how much can change in one very short year. Here is my newest creation :-)
If anyone is in driving distance to Atlanta there is going to be a Scrapbooking Ex-po in Daluth the 8th and 9th of July. There a group of us from NC going. It looks like it will be awesome and it is not expensive. Only $7.00 for the expo and then you can add and classes/make n takes etc that you would like.
Made a scrapboard box this weekend... OMG was so fun!! Got the box done now to find some pics for it!! Going to use it as an example for my niece when she makes one later this week!!
help!!! new to scrapbooking and i have NO clue what I'm doing! I got one page done but it took me like an hour and it doesn't even look that good! :) Right now I'm trying to make one for our "life before our wedding" and then make a Navy one after we get everything going....Any tips for beginners?!
