Akmomto3 - if you go to www.mynavytaxi.com - it has all the information. I signed up for his transportation services and the meet and greet there.

If your future Sailor has a ship date that is after the middle of December, s/he will ship earlier than his/her current date due to the Navy Recruiting Holiday Stand-down, which is usually about a week before Christmas to just after New Year’s Day. There are about 3 weeks in December and into the first week of January when the RTC does not process in new recruits. See http://www.navycs.com/blogs/2011/10/14/the-voelker-rule. My expectation is that December ship dates will be 12/01/2016 through 12/15/2016. Recruits don't ship on Fridays.

It's not too early to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for..., and to start discussing some of the things there with your future Sailor such as how to handle bad news and who will be put on the Access List....

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3; make change 4 if your profile pic includes your future Sailor or recruit) and then go on to Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

  • lemonelephant

I have left info on some of your My Pages about your recruit's (or future Sailor's) rating (job/specialty) and "A" School. If anyone else needs this info, leave a comment on my My Page with the rating or field and I will comment back on your My Page. I have info on every rating and field. I also have that info for the PACT programs.

  • lemonelephant

If you have a future Sailor who is going to be in an 800 division, let me know in a comment on my My Page or in a PM (or comment in a friend request) and I will connect you with others with loved ones who will later be in the same division. DON'T openly post your future Sailor's contract or division number. Those with a future Sailor (or recruit) in a regular division or 900 division can post the division number and can post the contracted rating or field unless it is for one of the Spook ratings, but those with a loved one with a special ops contract should NEVER post that openly. See OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and 800 and 900 Divisions.

My son leaves December 15 2016. Any others leave that day?
  • Stephanie

My son was originally suppose to leave July 6,2016 but was part of the big group that got delayed and so now he leaves Dec 15, 2016. Hes doing his 90 day meeting today and his recruiter and I were messing with him saying look you get to do it a second time how fun. lol By time he leaves he will have been DEP 17 months so he is ready :)

  • fayegirrl4*

Hi!  I have one son that is a MM on the USS Alaska stationed in Kings Bay, GA. He is currently home for Thanksgiving ( which shocked us as he was just home last month on leave after being out on his first patrol).

His brother, son #2 enlisted back in Aug. '15, graduated HS this past May, was supposed to ship out this past July 19th but got stuck in the group that was delayed.

He has been waiting since to see what his next step would be. He even told his recruiter to cut his contract two weeks ago.

Well, son #2 FINALLY got his ship out date...Dec. 5th. Yes, 12 days away!!

He is going in under PACT which I believe is undesignated. Not what he really wanted but at least he won't be going for HM. So, long story short.. round #2 of boot camp for our family.  It is bittersweet but son #2 is more than ready to leave. My husband and I will be empty nesters and Im not sure Im ready for that.

Thanks for letting me ramble on.  Hello Lemonelephant. Im' back! LOL.... but at least this time around, I kind of know what to expect, except a PIR in FEBRUARY will be so much COLDER than in September!

  • Stephanie

Wow can't believe how fast time is going my son leaves for boot camp 12/13/16. Going in as Machinist Mate. Christmas is going to be so weird this year so we made Thanksgiving a big one :) Anyone else have anyone that leaves that day?
  • Stephanie

Coming up really fast huh ShawnMom. My son has a count down going on our white board lol. He's been dep for 17 months now so I'm thinking he ready to go
  • lemonelephant

ShawnMom, I don't know how I missed your earlier question. You will find out what division your recruit is in when you receive The Form Letter, which arrives an average of ten calendar days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC. Some will have it 7 days after arrival (a few earlier than that, but not many) and most will have it by 14 days after arrival. It will tell you your recruit's address and PIR date and other important information. Keep it in a safe place.

Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what will soon be happening and what to expect.

See Ship/Division--How it Works for more on the ships and divisions at the RTC.

My son left yesterday on December 7th!
  • aaronsmom43

    My son leaves Dec 13.
  • Stephanie

Hi aaronsmom43 my son leaves the 13th too. How are you doing with it?
  • Dutchess

WOW! Two years ago today we dropped our baby girl off at her recruiter's office to go to MEPS.

  • aaronsmom43

Well I am excited for him because he seems very sure that this is what he wants to do. But the last few days I have been a little emotional.
  • Jag47

My son left December 5th.  My husband took it a lot harder than anticipated but we are very proud and looking forward to that first letter.

  • MelissaJPA

I'll be dropping my daughter off at the recruiter's Mon(Dec 12th) and then She leaves the 13th from the MEPS station. Some of us are making the trip to witness the final swearing in! Cannot believe this day is right around the corner. Happy and excited for her..but it's killing me. My only child heading out.

Have you received your box MamaG? I got mine Thursday.
  • fayegirrl4*

WE have the box ( got that last Thursday, Dec. 9th) and received the formal letter today ( Dec. 12th).  PIR .01/27/17

Now I need to light my candle and say my prayer that everyone does well and passes everything. Hope everyone is doing good and writing those letters!

  • Son Keifer

Hey fayegirrl4, we got our letter today and my son also has a PIR on 1/27/17.
  • TheRedheadsWife

fayegirrl4* When did he ship out? My husband made it to RTC and I'm mentally trying to make a timeline of what to expect the next few weeks.
  • TheRedheadsWife

My husband left 12/8/16 and the box is waiting for me at home! I am besides myself!
  • Missouri Navy mom

My son left yesterday and I am a mess
  • NiksMomma

Hang in there Dora! My son has been gone 3 days and it feels like a lifetime! I've concinced myself that NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS! LOL
  • Missouri Navy mom

Wow it's hard has only been 24 hours . I think waiting to here from them is hardest part
  • Stephanie

Same here Dora my son left yesterday and I just feel blank. So many emotions there are things that make me cry thinking about him. It's crazy
  • Chelsea21

My son left last Wednesday and it was so hard too. But it did help to start writing to him right away and this week has been better. Got his box yesterday and I can't wait to get the letter. I'll be hanging out by the mailbox everyday...
  • alexsmom

My kiddo left yesterday morning from Germany with another kid also joining. I'm glad he had someone to travel with! It's been rough :-( I heard from him late last night (our time) when he got to Chigago, but nothing since then. I'm so glad I found this group!!
  • mixedemotionsMOMofanewSailor

My son left for boot camp Monday December 12, 2016, and we just received his box today. His phone and civilan clothes were in the box. This about made me cry all over again. :( Patiently waiting on the form letter. I heard that mail only goes out on Sunday's, therefore, so I am kind of expecting the form letter by next Wednesday. Has anyone else heard anything from their recruit that left Monday?
  • NiksMomma

My son left Monday the 12th too....I just got his box. Broke my heart! Cant stop crying....they had him put the letter I wrote, and gave him when he left in the box. Praying for better days.
  • aaronsmom43

Mine left Tuesday. I cried during the whole "I'm here" call but was happy to hear his voice. I didn't work yesterday and realized that was not a good decision because all I did was sit around and wonder what he was doing. Today was better. I started writing his letters the day after he left and just add to them every day.
  • Missouri Navy mom

Mine left Tuesday so hoping I get his box today!!! I can't wait for the form letter. Looking forward to sending him my letters
  • MelissaJPA

My daughter left on the 13th also. Crazy that it's only been 3 days!  I was so happy to hear her voice when she made the "I'm here call!" Now when that box comes,is another story. Her best friend has been there since Nov 21st. Christmas will be the most difficult without her. The knowing that she's going thru something tough right now,but the outcome will be great!  Looking forward to getting her address as well.

  • mykidsmom4

I have been reading all your comments and it takes me back to this time last year when my son left for boot camp Dec. 8th. I know how sad it is to not have your loved one home for Christmas! I have to say though that so much has happened for my son in the last year...his PIR was Feb 5th, then he went to Biloxi for 4 months, graduated AG school June 1st, was home for two weeks and has been in Japan since the end of June. Once he was in "A" school we could talk to him on a regular basis which was wonderful. His sisters talked to him almost daily. Even now in Japan they talk thru social media almost on a daily basis. It gets so much better! I know it is hard right now but keep writing those letters. My son said he loved hearing about anything we were doing or little bits of news. He also wanted pictures sent so he could share with others. Good luck to you all-you will make it thru and I thank your son/daughter for their service!

  • Shayshay

My son left on 12/8. I received his box a few days later and I'm so excited I just received the form letter so now I can start writing to him.
