I looked and found two very old ship 04 groups on here, no activity for over a year on one, and the other has been silent several years. Are there closed groups?

good morning! quick question, how do most of the family members dress for the MEPS swear in. I know it can be a long day, but wondering if guests arrive in casual clothes or dress up? I cannot find anything on dress code. I was thinking a nice sweater and jeans, but want to make sure....thanks! My son gets sworn in on Thursday then BC
Dec 5, 2017

Sandi it is casual depending on you and the weather where you are at. I went in jeans and a nice top some wore shorts. But again I am here in Phoenix, AZ.
Best wishes to your Family and soon to be SR.

AntiM - I don't believe so..if there is then the creator of any closed Group would need to speak up and advertise the Group as a search would be fruitless.
It is unfortunate as the support is needed . While I don't wish injuries on anyone I hope that folks may be able to revive the RCU Group. Even though the posts are old those of you in this situation may still gain some support by reading about those who have gone through this. In turn, you are able to add comment and updates about the process for others.

4myson division number will be part of your son's address. We were able to obtain my son's address from his recruiter 48 hours after my son had reached boot camp. Also, the recruiter should know the estimated PIR (graduation date).

Ladies I would wait for the form Letter to arrive to get your SR'S address, true enough that the Recruiter may have the address but also there may be more information than needed to be put on.
The form letter includes your recruit's address, so now you can mail out all the letters you have been writing. There is more on this in Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.
Dec 5, 2017
Phoenixmom
It is best to wait for the form letter before mailing letters to your recruit, but if you do get an address from your recruit's recruiter, double-check the address the recruiter gave you against those at http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/contact.html#contact. Recruiters sometimes give a generic address for the RTC and if the street address is not correct, then mail can be delayed for up to 3 weeks. Common addresses that recruiters have given for all ships have been the address for Ship 02 or Ship 07 or Ship 12 or Ship 14.
When recruiters actually do have the correct information, they sometimes give extra information that you do not need in the address
Dec 5, 2017
Phoenixmom
I would hate for anyone's letters to be delayed, I know how important letters can be. Just to be on the safe side.

Congratulations to this week's Captain's Cup winners!
Div. 905 won in the non-integrated (all-male) divisions while Div. 034 won in the integrated (male-female) divisions.
Captain's Cup is a friendly athletic event held on the weekend prior to their graduation. The recruits get a free morning to enjoy some fun competition between the divisions in the training group.
Events include basketball, volleyball, relay races and more. There is one winning division for the integrated divisions and one for the non-integrated divisions, and each winning division receives a traveling trophy to display in their ships.

Good morning ladies I received my box yesterday it was a bittersweet moment for me . I was sad because I miss her so much but happy that she survived the first week. I did cry a little.
However I found A nice little note in the pocket of her pants that she sent back written to me while she was on the plane.
To all you moms out there his kids haven’t left yet may I suggest that you suggest this to your children it’s a nice way to hear from them In the interim of time between them leaving and getting the first letter!
Have a blessed day!

I see that a lot of you received the Box, Yes it is a Overwhelming Feeling I completely agree with you on that. It took me awhile to open my Kid in the Box, just held on to it tight and cried.

Kathy know the feeling all to well, I wouldn't go into my sons room, just kept passing it, then one day I opened the door and started gutting it out, LOL! now he will come home to a room that I remodeled and did over he will be amazed. That is what kept my mind Busy. I know how hard it is to let go, But just think of the amazing things he will endure on his New Journey! Keep your head up your SR is in good hands.

Kathy - Just sending some Navy Mom hugs your way!! I would encourage you to find things to keep yourself busy, possibly find a way to give back to someone. I don't know if you are near an airport, but you might want to look into the USO and see if they need a volunteer. The USO at O'Hara was amazing to me, and I finally "got" what their mission is all about. Our airport in OKC, OK doesn't have a USO run operation, but I think the YMCA does. If you aren't near an airport, you could check out other ways or means to be able to write Christmas letters or such to other military. I just know that when I can find myself focused on others during times like this, it helps me get through the days faster.
I started writing my son emails, so I could see his picture pop up and just because it was the easiest way for me to spend time "talking" to him. Then I copied and sent those once I knew his address.
Pay attention to the posts, and read through the pages above and to the right. It will be a few days - a week before your son's clothes arrive in the box, and then for me it was at least another week before I had the "form letter" with his address and PIR information. Ask any questions you want.
Raequel ⚓️ - Great suggestion!! My son called me when he landed at O'Hara and we talked for a bit which was wonderful, but a note tucked into a pocket to find in the box, would have been a treasure!
If I am not on for a few days - Happy PIR to all this week, and lots of hugs to all of you with recruits heading to BC during this holiday season or who are there without being at home.

24 hours and counting until he is sworn in then off to BC! Tonight he heads to the hotel for the night, he needs to check in with his recruit at noon today. He is excited about the new journey and so am I. I am so proud of the decision he has made and I am having to be strong for him. I have my moments where something will set me off, but overall I am doing ok. so blessed I have an awesome fiancé that supports me when I need him these days! Going to the gym is a good way to relieve the stress and take your mind off of your son/daughter leaving, and just know its not forever!

Good Morning Sandi, Congrats to your Son! if I am not mistaken once he gets to the Hotel and checks in he may be able to have dinner with you that evening before he leaves. Check into it.

Yup! we are actually meeting him at 4pm after I get off work and visit with him for a bit, and then his dad will show up around 7pm. He can have visitors until 8:30pm. Praying for every Son/Daughter in BC that the Lord watches over them and protect them from Injuries, Sickness and may he give them the strength to continue on.
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grew tired and weary, and young men stumbled and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40)
