Did he call you and tell you he was set back?

  • Linda

He call a week before Christmas and said he fail the shirt fold and now almost month later he told me he pass and still on the same ship and division, in a letter

  • Kelz89

If you did not receive a call saying he is not graduating on time and will be set back a week then he is not set back. I specifically received a call from him saying those things and he gave me his new ship and division number.

  • Linda

He call saying that on the day he call me but ever move sjip

  • Kelz89

Ohh ok. I am not sure in that case then.

  • Kelz89

I would assume since you did receive the call that he is still set back and him passing the test just means he will not be set back further and will be graduating.

  • Sweetnezz

    Hello Everyone,

Is it unheard of for an E2 to do a HHG move? Is it allowed?

    TIA

  • Anti M

Depends on how their orders are written.  If they're headed to a ship, likely not.  If they're married, then yes, probably.

  • ATLUTDFan15

I received “the box” today.  Still in the “no news is good news” mode.  How much longer will it be before the letter is expected?  And once the letter comes have they passed the running test?  That’s the one thing my daughter was most concerned about because she went up there just getting over a case of bronchitis and every time she tried to run she had coughing episodes.  She’s another one that was scheduled to leave in April and was encouraged to leave early and left last week on Tuesday (1/9).

  • diannep

ARLUTDFan15:  They take the PFA (fitness test) 3 times.  No matter what they did on the first 2, each SR MUST pass the 3rd one in order to participate in BattleStations, their final test before they become sailors.

  • ATLUTDFan15

I thought starting Jan 1 they had to pass 1 within 48 hrs of the first or they were sent home. So I anticipated that would happen fairly soon.
  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Yes, the Recruits must pass the run portion of the test before they even start Boot Camp starting January 1 of this year.

So far I have not read any details as to the exact process.

The Box gets packed the first night there so I do not know when the run test is conducted. I assume sometime during P-Days.

The Form Letter is sent home when a Recruit is placed in their Division/Ship/TG for BC. I ASSUME that they would've passed their run in order to be placed in their Division.

Hopefully, we will get some better details soon.

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Oops, just re-read...so it is 48 hours within arrival.

  • ATLUTDFan15

So if my daughter arrived at BC on the evening of 1/9 and I’ve heard nothing negative could/should that mean she has passed the run test?
  • Missomd

My son called 1/9.and his box arrived 1/11. Waiting on letter. I jooe all the kids diring this week passed the fitness! God bless yoi otjrr moms. Happy to have your support.
  • Missomd

Sorry I speak my texts. Always misspellings. Hope all kids pass this week. So excited for our future sailors.
  • NavyMom21

Good evening. I feel for you parents or spouses awaiting that our SR's have passed that final PFA. My son is there Div 085 and due to graduate early February. He's passed everything but the run. When he first got there he was at 17 min. Second one he was at 13. He needs to shave off 45 seconds to make the 12.15 mark. He is sick and has a cough for 3 weeks now so it's not helping his cause at all. He is in a leadership role, made excellent marks on his inspections and test. So fingers crossed he passes that final run before BS.

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

ATLUDEFan15 - I can only guess at a "yes" based on the 48 hour thingie. You got her Box; the Form Letter is usually a week or so behind.

    Hang in there!

When our SRs make the "I'm a Sailor" call, will they have time to talk, or will it be a 2 minute call? And, if there are split families, can they make 2 calls?

  • Phoenixmom

Sambam32 usually they make the call and have time to speak, but I am not sure about making multiple calls. when you receive the call they will be extremely tired so make sure you let them know to stay alert and not to fall asleep they may be able to get to sleep at around 8pm instead of 10pm.

The "I'm still alive!" or other calls the RDC schedules usually come in the mornings if they are made on Monday through Thursday, but they can come anytime between 8 am and 8 pm CST if the phone banks are available. This is because the "I'm a Sailor!" calls, which are typically made 1 to 7 days before PIR, but can come up to 10 days before PIR, are in the afternoon and evenings and begin around 2ish pm CST and end around 8ish pm CST. (See Battle Stations-21 (BST).) Calls can come anytime between 1 pm and 8 pm CST on Friday if the phone banks are available and anytime between 8 am and 8 pm CST on Saturday and between 1 pm and 8 pm CST on Sunday. Calls for security reasons or for information most often occur during regular business hours, but may come at any time, even on weekends, especially if the recruit has had to try multiple times to reach someone. Calls for additional information during P-days can come anytime, but usually come between 6 am and 10 pm CST--even on weekends because recruits do not have holiday routine while in P-days and a recruit could be asked to make a call while in P-Hold.

  • Phoenixmom

The "I'm a Sailor!" calls can come 1 to 10 days prior to PIR on a weekday and usually start around 2 pm Central Time, but can start earlier or later, and can come as late as around 8 pm Central Time. Therefore, it is best to have your phone close by all day. When your Sailor makes that call, s/he will most likely be very tired since s/he will have been up since 5 am the previous day and won't make it into his/her rack until between 8 and 10 pm that night, but you and your Sailor will be very proud and very happy. Please ask your Sailor if everyone in his/her division passed and post that within your PIR group. Some new Sailors may not get to make their calls until later if they have watch, a medical appointment, or other reason, so it would be nice for those loved ones to know that they have a Sailor instead of having to wait a day or two for that call

The site for BST-21 has more information please click on the site below. Thank You.

Congratulations to this week's Captain's Cup winners!
Div. 805 won in the non-integrated (all-male) divisions while Div. 070 won in the integrated (male-female) divisions.
Captain's Cup is a friendly athletic event held on the weekend prior to their graduation. The recruits get a free morning to enjoy some fun competition between the divisions in the training group.
Events include basketball, volleyball, relay races and more. There is one winning division for the integrated divisions and one for the non-integrated divisions, and each winning division receives a traveling trophy to display in their ships.

  • Phoenixmom

If any of you are interested in knowing what Battlestation-21 is and what they need to do in their final test please go to you tube and look up BST-21. This is an intense test, they cannot fall asleep

Battle Stations-21 (BST) is the final test for the recruits and is a 12 hour evaluation program with 17 ship board scenarios from missile attacks that can cause fires to flooding caused by exploding undersea mines. Recruits also stand watches on the bridge and are tasked with engineering scenarios, lookout scenarios, and mass casualty drills. Battle Stations-21 is conducted several times a week, at night, on board USS Trayer (BST 21), a 210-foot-long Arleigh Burke-class destroyer simulator. It begins around 8:00 pm CST and ends the next morning. Throughout the various scenarios, recruits are evaluated and graded not only as individuals, but also as teams and as an entire division. The morning that a recruit passes Battle Stations-21, s/he attends a capping ceremony around 8:20 or so that lasts about 20-30 minutes where s/he removes his/her “RECRUIT” ball cap and replaces it with a “NAVY” ball cap, which signals to the world that s/he is a US Navy Sailor!

  • Phoenixmom

WHEN WILL MY RECRUIT GO THROUGH BATTLE STATIONS?

Battle Stations-21 is the recruits' final test that can take place anywhere from eight to two days prior to graduation. We do not give out the specific date your recruit's division will be taking this test nor do we allow the dates to be posted. We do not post any specific training details and we urge everyone to practice Operational Security by not posting such information.

    _____

A few weeks before PIR, be sure to write and ask your recruit when Battle Stations-21 will be. You can then PM others with loved ones in the division and/or Brother Divisions so they will be informed as well--but do not post BST dates openly on the web. When you receive your "I'm a Sailor!" call, be sure to ask your new Sailor if everyone in the division and brother division passed and be sure to post that within the PIR group for others who are also waiting on this call. You can post that you have a Sailor once BST is over.

Heads up everyone ordering challenge coins from NW Territory Mint:

I ordered a rank challenge coin with engraving for a PIR gift. It didn't come. Emails to company went no where. No one answering phones. Turns out company may be bankrupt. Avoid them!

On a positive note I was able to get what I wanted from giftsforprofessionals.com . They were able to engrave and can meet my time crunch
  • MoMom

    sambam32

My son was able to call me and his girlfriend, maybe even his dad. He was given a set amount of time to make whatever calls he wanted. Can't promise it will be the same with yours, but that was our experience.

  • Phoenixmom

Thank You Paul for sharing, The Challenge coins are an awesome gift, just make sure your Loved one hasn't purchased already because they have the chance to get them when purchasing their Photos. We had bought our Son one and he had purchased 3 thankfully it wasn't the same one.

Challenge coins can also be purchased at the PIR.

MoMom thank you also for sharing, the calls you are speaking on are they the I'm a Sailor call?

  • Phoenixmom

  • MoMom

Yes, that was the “I’m a sailor “ call.

  • Phoenixmom

Thank You MoMom, so Ladies and Gents their is a chance that when you receive 'The I'm a Sailor" call He/She may be able to call you and another with the time they are given. My Son did call me first and then his Father. So for all who are awaiting the Call Please, Please be aware you don't want to miss this important call.

If you know they may be calling home there is a way to transfer all calls to your Cell phone. get with your Phone co. and ask for the code to punch into your home phone that will direct it to your cell phone.

To forward calls from your home phone to your cell phone, for most phone providers the code is 72#, but it may be different for some providers. Dial 72# from your home phone. Then when you get the dial tone dial your 10-digit cell phone number (including area code). You should hear a couple of tones and your cell phone should ring. If it doesn't ring, repeat until it does and your calls will be forwarded to your cell phone. When you want to cancel the call forwarding, pick up your home phone and dial 73# (it may be different for some providers). Hang up and call your home phone from your cell phone to be sure that call forwarding has been cancelled; if not, dial 73# again. Check with your phone provider if you are unsure of the codes to use.

  • Phoenixmom

For those who do work please speak to your Supervisor and let it be known that an important call may come thru and you need to receive call, I cant see them not letting you get the call. But then again not sure how that works for all and your employers. I know my Sup was very good at letting me receive calls knowing my son was in BC and anything could HAPPEN.

  • Phoenixmom

The I'm a sailor call may be coming this week, or was made last week. Please share when received, we would like to Congratulate you and Your New Sailor to be. It is a very exciting time and yes you can post what Div. he/she is in, that would let other Dads/Moms know that they too should be receiving a call. Thank You all you have been so Great at sharing Information.

  • lmtsat

Sambam32, when I got the call we got to talk for about 30 minutes. He wanted to call his dad in that time also but I knew he was out of service range so as long as they don’t go over the time I would say they can make more than one call. Hope this helps
  • Phoenixmom

Thank You Imtsat for sharing, great to hear from you.

  • Phoenixmom

Well Ladies and Gents it is time to say Good Evening, I hope you all get much needed rest.

May the Calls and letters come your way.

Thank You all for posting, it is always a pleasure to see what is said and it does help others also. So Thank You all!

  • Linda

  • sambam32

Thank you for the replies...I'm very happy to hear it will be more than 2 minutes! lol

I am crawling out of my skin waiting to hear from my boy!

  • sambam32

If your recruit ordered pictures and is mailing them home, typically how long does it take JUST for the pictures to arrive?

I read that the Keel is mailed about 12 or 13 weeks after PIR & the DVD is mailed about 6 to 8 weeks after PIR...but I didn't see anything about when photos are mailed after they are taken.
