Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones)

Chipmunk - Good idea. I just posted an SOS to the PIR FB board. Asked all families to add a PS to their next letter asking their SR's to yell at my son and tell him to write home ASAP!! I specifically asked for Divs 391, 393, 394, and anyone else that arrived to ROM on the 18th.

I also sent 3 Sandboxx letters to those 3 divisions. Carolyn Mor mentioned that Sandboxx will refund the fee for letters that are undeliverable, and that would show up in my account. I missed today's Sandboxx deadline, so the letters should arrive Thursday. I don't know how long it will take Sandboxx to get the undeliverables back and show which ones those were on my account, but I imagine it will be some time next week.

Everyone Thank-you for your thoughts, prayers, hugs, suggestions, advice, and help. It is all very welcome and appreciated. 

We got two calls from our son yesterday. The first one was for security clearance information, so we didn't say much outside of just giving him the info he needed, as we knew an RDC was right there.  He was very relaxed and positive. About 15 minutes later, he called again and said they had allowed him a ten-minute personal call. He said he might call back again today as they were going to the NEX, but his Div (381) was not doing that great at being quiet when the RDCs turned their backs, so he doubted if they would get the phone call. He seems to be well-liked by the RDCs and he told us he really likes them. He said he was at his rack while this female PO came through who is generally very tough, along with a couple others. She checked his rack, walked on by, then came back and whispered, "Your underwear is backwards." and didn't give him a hit! He says his rackmate is kinda naturally messy and he encourages him all the time to get ahead of getting things squared away. He also said the hotel hallway during ROM was arranged with two doors close together on both sides of the hallway. They guys called it their "quad" and all the guys in that quad are in the same division and have become pretty good friends. He sounded mature and relaxed and confident. He said he is getting mail and thanked us, so I guess I only have the one letter because he's just not writing. Stinker. But at least I know he seems to be thriving. Praying and praying for no more ROM. And he said the recruiters told him that RTC Great Lakes has the best chow in the fleet and that is horses%^t. LOL

hugsbugs- whoo hoo you got a call. That is great news. Loved that what the PO didn't do, that was awesome. Glad he sounds well and is doing well. 

VintageGal- I know that's why they always tell us to be prepared for that first phone call they will want or will cry when they first hear our voice. It is so hard isn't it. But we always manage to be strong for our children.  :)

I love seeing them all in their uniforms. They look so great!!!

That would be mine to. Or he'd say all right mom and give me that look.  Lol

Prayers for no more ROM and that all of our SR's get thru boot camp on time.

Hugabugs - yay for a bonus call home! 2 if you count the security call! My 3rd SR LOVES RTC food. I don’t know about the other 2. LOL at the backward underwear! Did your SR arrive prior to 8/21?

Vintage - as far as I understand passing the initial PFA and doing well on the DEP is the only tests they can advance with. They can also advance based on their RTC jobs. The RDCs can also pick a recruit to advance but they have to agree. My 3rd SR was soclose to getting advanced by one RDC but they both couldn’t agree. Patience and serenity are not the adjectives I would use to describe me. Picture a wet and mad cat - the stressed out one with his hair all over the place - that’s how I feel inside most days.

Party - I love Carolyn she is so friendly! I have been in several of her PIR groups, lol.

Coley - my daughter PIR early by a week and when she got to A school she was told it would be a 4 month wait and it ended up being about 2. My other 2 had to wait, #2 was a 2 week wait and so far a 3 week wait for my 3rd.

Katharine - if anyone deserves to cry it is you! But hearing your voice might make him want to cry too! My 3rd sounded so strong and then he wrote me and told me he fought hard to not cry during the call and then he cried after and was sad in his letters, it almost made him more homesick. Ugh I hope you hear something soon this is beyond ridiculous. I just can not imagine. I have seen SRs get set back in divs but still the same PIR date for various reasons, not just the PFA. So I would beg ALL divs to help out in your TG. 

Morning Chipmunk, Anti M, Phoenixmom (hope you are well), Northwoodsmom, kim/Toby and everyone else I missed due to no caffeine in my system yet and being scatterbrained, lol.

So if they get a certain time on their run, they go to E2 paygrade?  Our SR is at either E2 or E3 (can't remember which now) already because of going in with an associate's degree.  If he passed by the right time, would he also go up a paygrade?

Katharine, I really am praying you get an answer soon!  And I'm really paying attention to what you are doing and what Shanny said she did in case we don't get a FL.  I'm trying to mentally prepare myself.  

I'm  reading all these posts, and sometimes I think, "Wait!  Did I miss something?"  Lol  Also, sometimes the accronyms trip me up.  

LadyBluefire, thanks for correcting me that it's 9 Fridays after arrival and not 8.  I had the correct number when I put it in my calendar, but "disremembered" when I replied to Kim/Troy.  Lol

LadyBlueFire- I did a big O laugh out loud at the wet cat girl. I hear you on that and that is a great description of how I feel most days. dang. 

C’smom2020- down at the bottom of your screen there’s a little chat bar if you click on that it’ll pop up and that’s the one that chipmunk is talking about. 

C'sMom - they have to pass their initial PFA AND the DEP test during P days to advance to E2. I am not sure what happens if they are already an E2 going in. My daughter also got 2 referrals (her 2 younger bros and since she passed tests her referral did not count - I TOLD her to give those referrals to her big bro as I had a feeling he would not do well on DEP test and I was right!) - getting 2 referrals puts you to E2. But she only got one advancement so it all depends?

After my son was in the fleet some guys he tried to recruit joined and it was too late for him to get credit for them.

VintageGal:  I had to do the countdown.  I needed to know how much longer until the world of complete silence would last!  Now I am sitting here waiting...  just waiting...  and waiting some more.  Do you ever feel like all we do is wait?

I guess I could get off my butt and do something productive today...  Yesterday, I weed trimmed...  cut some branches off the stupid mulberry tree I can't kill...  (I wonder if I am super nice to my SR's former boss at the landscaping company if he will take care of the trunk of it for me...)  Maybe I will go to the post office and get a flat rate box and see about fitting the underwear and socks in it he asked for...  and some pj pants. 

Anyone know how long it takes to get an address to send things to at A School?  I know I am ahead of myself but I need to fill my head with something other than waiting or him to call today

and by the way...  I just figured out why my computer was making this strange sound....  notifications for the chat...  I need coffee...  out of creamer...  trip to the gas station may be in order

Good Morning VintageGal, and Thank You........I haven't been feeling up to Par Lately, Not sure what is going on with me. I had a Colonoscopy yesterday and was told No blockage but More Polyps, So I'm a bit Nervous as Colon Cancer runs deep in my Family. I had went  2 yrs ago and they removed  some then, was suppose to wait 5 yrs for another but luckily I went because they found more, so I'm a bit nervous as to what is going on. Now they want to test my Pancreas. So yesterday I was so full of Knots and its the what if's that has me so anxious and nervous. I'm usually in great health, no Diabetes, No high blood pressure, No high Cholesterol, thyroid kidneys heart all fine. So yesterday I fell asleep so early and slept through the night until this morning, My kids are worried....but so am I. Thank You for asking sorry if I sound a bit overwhelmed but I am, but I will get over this Hump with the help of the good Lord! and as Long as I keep a smile on my face I will be fine. ((((((Hugs))))) back at you!

Shanny - my 2&3 SR I had their address the same day they arrived at school, can't recall about #1 but less than a week. Course #3 was at GL for a week before he went to A school and that was the longest week of silence of my life!!!!
. If yours was going to Meridian I could give you the addy, lol. You sounded productive yesterday! 

Phoenix  BNMH! You will be fine, I have faith. "They" say Colon cancer is one of the easiest to take care of and you did a tougher one with your breasts, You GOT this!!!

I believe they have to wait a little bit before they can have packages. I know they have to wait before they can wear civilian clothes and to get liberty to get off base. It all depends on the A school and what there rules are.

I'm basing my opinion off of mine when he was in A school.  :)

You were busy yesterday. Yes sometimes it seems like all we do is wait while our children are serving.  :)

LadyBluefire- Good Morning and prayers for a call, letter as well.  I love Carolyn to, she is really nice and so helpful. I really like that group as well. 

Katharine- You had me cracking up with that comment about crying. You go mom. Prayers that you hear something today or tomorrow. One thing I know about some of those groups on fb most of the moms are pretty good and if they can find out something they will.  :)

Perhaps this has been said before.. If so, my apologies for being repetitive... Do you find yourselves zooming in the pictures to see whether you find your loved one? Perhaps...

NOW: do you find yourself comparing moles, little scars, veins in the hands, knuckles to truly determine if that is your loved one? I must admit that I am doing that!! :)

As I said before, I try to read everything, and I keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Today was the day (based on #3) I should have gotten the FL but ID says no mail from him :( I think in his call last week he said he mailed it, but now I am second guessing myself.

#3's photos should be here today and the 3 flags  I had flown were supposed to be here today but now it won;t be til Friday.

I have enclosed a photo of the cat I am talking about, lol.

OK - off to tackle my Harry Potter closet - while my son is at youth tonight I will make hubby decide what stays and what goes.
I have to say how lucky I am to be able to send my son to youth every week and there life is normal. It does my heart and soul good to see normalcy there!

LadyblueFire the pic is hilarious! my kids would say that's how I look when I wake up as my hair is natural wavy curly and if I don't tame it at night that's what it looks like waking up LOL! too funny!

PhoenixMom, welcome back! You have been through alot so it probably is going to take awhile to get things back to normal. I had 2 surgeries within six months of each other and I swear it took me a whole year before all the effects of going under wore off. Prayers that things start becoming easier for you, stress can do alot of damage even if you can't see it.

Thank You NorthWoodsMom, I agree with you totally, I think my veins are shot as well, they couldnt find  any veins, my veins are real finicky to say the least and they blow the second a needle gets in, that's the worst part. I have been struggling with my Emotions as I see my Little one struggling with school and me working and going through my ordeal its just been hard. Had a meeting with Principal this morning and she is seeing the struggle with a lot of  the kids, my little one gets frustrated and jumps off the computer and cries, I have seen his anger rise and this is not good, so I am looking into resources for him. .....Just taking it one day at a time as that is all I can do. Thank You and please be safe and well!

MaterNauta, you keep on looking, my son showed up in a picture at A school that the cake lady took. He was just standing there behind the kid with the cake. It made my day so hoping you get a glance of him somewhere.

Well our Cardinals won again Sunday, (for some reason I cant help to think that Ben may have something to do with this LOL!) I know he would be so Happy! The Radiers won, that was shocking but Hey Go Radiers! Tomorrow the Dophins Play the Jaguars, My Mom was a dolphin fan. so go Dolphins! Looks like the SeaHawks beat the Patriots and Dallas come on Dallas cowboy fans you beat the falcons by one point but it's a win! where are my football fans at! we have to show our spirit. the chiefs won the chargers, I know someone was a chiefs fan they also won Houston! 2-0 they are!

So glad football is back!

I am totally with you on your little's ones schooling. We teach our kinders for 15 minutes and then let them take a break. I don't know if that is something you would like to have done. 

It's important for the littles not to feel over loaded. So we try to keep them learning the best we can.  :)

Hi PartyofSeven just spoke to Mr. Smith he was working with Anthony last year and he will be speaking with him once again. My Grandson doesn't have a Man figure in his life except for bud, and bud being gone he truly misses him. So he understands all the frustration that is going on. he has 3 boys of his own and is going to see about helping him out once again, he is a anger management Counselor and my Grandson truly needs that right now.

So here we have a Dolphin Fan YAY! my Husbands good Buddy Dave is also a Dophin fan.
