Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones)

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your amazing goodness and grace, which stooped down in Your mercy and kindness to rescue us from eternal separation from You, and from becoming ever more entrenched in the callous sensuality, impurity and greed that has saturated the sin nature of fallen humanity. Thank You, that in Christthat we are part of a new creation, and have passed from darkness to light, and have been positioned in Christ and am seated, together with Him, in heavenly places. Oh my! I sat up in bed, picked up my phone to see what Informed Delivery had to say to me today and my phone rang - area code 847. I answered "uh oh" and he said "no uh oh". 

LONG story short they only had 1 hit during drill inspection. They did so amazing at the half step walking by the Pearl Harbor without any cadence. Their Chief was so proud of them that he rewarded them with their 3rd call home in 8 days. There is mention of them learning how to counter march.

Also they have earned the right to torpedo and grenade other divisions and Chief has ordered them to do so and to keep track of their kills.

Their RPOC broke his insignia during PT so the Chief took off his and gave it to the RPOC = very ceremonial and a high honor.

He also mentioned the yellow pennant and I can;t recall what that means. I was still waking up and hadn;t had my coffee. I was also still dumbstruck that he was calling again!

I will get back to everyone else's post when I have had a chance to calm down. I seriously can't even focus on anything right now.

VintageGal- Good Morning, right I have a few of them at my place to. There is always a blessing from God when we least expect it. :) 

Anyways, your SR won't call when he goes back into training well that's what they've been doing. They will call when they are going into quarantine. So yes, No news is good news and I pray that he has gone into boot camp training as scheduled. Don't fret and keep telling yourself no news is good news.

Henry’s mom - thanks for sharing your undes son’s experience - sounds like he has quite the story to tell!

I had a bear by my door to go outside - I opened the door and yelled at it, then closed the door and asked myself what  the heck was I doing?! Many a night we have had to shoot near them to scare them away...We have neighbors who would feed them on purpose and some who are careless about their trash and they KNOW when it is garbage day.

Chipmunk - picking on poor party, lol. I had to go back and read her “pist” several times before I noticed it.

Shanny - it is about time ONE kid got a good division. He has had a role reversal in his luck! Can you freeze your apple dip in small batches?

Vintage - he has had tons of ASMOd SRs put in his div and 5 more are getting kicked out of his div.  (leaving room for yours I hope!) I would not be surprised if they were separated. Talking to the girls through the bulkheads. Anyway, the ASMOd SRs who come into his div are telling them how much better their div 414 is than their old divs. The cleanest they have ever seen a compartment etc. I have  a scuttle about div 414 but am afraid to say it as I may jynx it, lol. Plus I am not sure if it is 100% or just a possibility.

Party - things are a bit diff from what I am seeing when they are placed into a 14 day ROM and their PIR and Div change they get a call when they are out of ROM to give their new address to their loved ones. My #2 never called to say he was out of ROM but then his div did not change...

Isn't that crazy on how some of these divisions are at this time. If they don't want to be there and don't take their training seriously then maybe they don't need to be Sailor's if they can't follow the rules now. Or maybe their just to immature at this point. It's so cray cray. I'm sure the Navy wants to give them chances as well.

Got a letter!!! He spent the first paragraph telling me how awful he felt that we were not getting his letters. That boy .... always thinking about me. He said he was sure I was cursing the post office. Hahaha. I guess I shouldn't tell him that I was considering giving them poisoned apples. 

He also said he sent his Dad a birthday present and apologized that it would be late. Can they do that from BC? I know his Dad would love anything that said Navy, but I am really curious about what on earth he would send and how that would work. Sending letters seems complicated enough.

All of you talking about cookies and caramel .... uggghhh. I managed to figure out the keto baking over the last 5 years, but carnivore caramel? Can anyone help?

Katharine-- A LETTER managed to sneak past your post office!!! That is AWESOME!!!!! I’m just so glad you finally have an address and PIR and we didn’t need to activate the Posse to hunt down a lost puppy!!!(SR for those joining late.... or blonde ;) )

The Navy Moms Posse is always on stand by!!!  So I totally love you ladies but..  there I am in the grocery store because I now MUST have caramel dip and apples and my phone keeps going off with notifications of new posts...  so there I am thinking I’m missing huge news and must hurry up so I can catch up...  (I really think I need a life lol) pay for my stuff, get home and I forgot EVERYTHING I needed for apple dip!  It’s ok. You can laugh because I did.   Even forgot the apples!

oh on a positive here...  I finally received my sailor’s corrected high school diploma! (He legally changed his name but the school put his old name on the diploma). I wonder if the Navy still needs this?  I’m thinking no since he is in either that or really really lost

 I have no idea what y'all are talking about? inside Joke i'm guessing.

PhoenixMom:  are you talking about Navy Mom Posse?  The ladies were going to form a posse to get my son’s clothes back from his cheating GF. (Yes, he found out she started cheating on him about 3 weeks after he left for BC). When he got out of BC he texted her and told her she had 24 hours to return all of his belongings to me or he would send his friends to come get them.  Took about 2 hours after his text and she stuck them on my back porch.  So then the Posse was going to go and find Katharine’s missing SR. As soon as someone threatened to storm the gates at RTC, she heard from him lol so the Posse has magical powers!  

Pheonixmom- Yesterday partyofseven had a grammar glitch and she said pist instead of post Lol :) if not the Navy mom posse that Shanny told you about

I spoke to my Bud this weekend He seemed pretty busy moving more things from one Apt. to the next so I didn't want to interrupt. said he likes the fact that I am getting out more. But that will be coming to a halt as I get ready for my Kitchen makeover.

PhoenixMom:  I wish I were closer  We could hang out together. I don’t ever go out or see friends. I always decline when people ask me to do things. They have stopped asking. Sadly, I feel alone but I also want to go anywhere or do anything. 
my sailor seems to be doing ok I’ve rather break up stuff. I think he is hurt but being with the guys in the barracks and hanging out at night has kept him distracted

Shanny- I know I am the same. I hardly ever go out but I am trying to do more. 

The recipe sounds delicous. I will be making it this weekend. He probably is feeling hurt and it will take him some time but he will get thru it.

Hi PartyofSeven yes his Buddies girlfriend is on same carrier as Him, they lived in Ramona but got a bigger and closer apt to Coronado base. when you go out on deployment you have to move out of the Barracks so his friend allowed him to put his stuff at his place and then when he had came back he moved in with both of them. Yes his friend is so awesome they bring Bud Home and come and pick him up, this last time another guy came with as he had never been to AZ before and wanted to see what it looked like, sure he wasn't impressed as it is all desert! HAHAHA!

Shanny that would be nice, you living closer! My daughter wants to take me to the chili festival this weekend and pumpkin Patch out in Queen creek this weekend, May take her up on it. I would like to do the corn maze with my Grandkids.

Wow - you guys have been busy posting again! Congrats to those that received letters and phone calls this week! I remember how much I craved those little moments of communication when mine was in BC. But, if you are one of those who hasn't heard anything this week then "no news is good news" applies, and your SR is doing great, so hang in there!!

Since there was some discussion about bears earlier, I figured I'd add a pic and story. Yes, even in NJ there are PLENTY of bears, and they are not afraid to come visiting. Here is one checking out my empty garbage can at about 10 am a few months ago. He was a big boy! 

You ladies are killin me!!! I have to catch up but I LAUGHED OUT LOUD about Shannys grocery trip for caramel gone-ary and Katharine .... the poisoned apples. OMG!!!!!! I was dyin laughing. Then there’s the Navy mom POSSE on standby. Damn Vel, that’s one big bear!! I’ll try to attach a video I got Sunday across from my house. 

OMG! He's Huge! I would completely freak out! and them not being afraid how do you shew them off? do they get close enough to the doors as to come inside your Home? That is Crazy! Here we have snakes, spiders, Scorpions in the mountains maybe coyotes, bears, a pack of elk which my cousin seen this past weekend as they went camping in payson. he asked the rangers about the screaming  and ranger said it was a mate call.......Too funny!

Yeah, there are plenty of stories and pictures of bears in our area coming right up on porches and decks looking for food, so we really need to be careful here. It's also crucial to not put your garbage out until the morning right before the garbage man comes to pick up, or else the bears will knock over the can and the garbage will be pawed through and strewn all over your lawn by morning. I took this picture from the safety of my office window, but if you are outside and see a bear then the best thing to do is just calmly turn and walk inside (do not run), If you want the bear to go away just get some pots to bang together and yell to make noise, and they generally leave, but they usually don't run away. They just sort of look annoyed and slowly mosey away, like "I guess I'll go, since you put it that way, but I COULD stay, if I wanted to." LOL!

This little guy was the first bear we had seen when we moved into our neighborhood. We bought air horns for the kids. Most of them run away but some just don't care. We treed a mama and her cubs one time. Good thing she went for safety vs defense.

We have video of a bear attacking our MacGuyver bear can aka toolbox. That thing lasted 2 years before it finally broke.

Shanny, awww you need the Navy Mom Posse to kidnap you for some girl fun!! Yay for fixed diploma! I would send a copy to his recruiter (via e mail) and you can say you did your due diligence.

Velvet - yeah we can be fined if we put our garbage out before 6 am. Our garbage men come from 6 am til 6 pm and one never knows when, usually they come early if we oversleep. They come late if we do not. We do not have a garage so my husband built this to keep our trash bear proof during the week.

WOW!! Yeah so I want to share bear safety tips that I learned last week ... if it’s brown, lie down; if it’s black, fight back and if it’s white, say goodnight! I guess there’s no recovering from polar bears but hopefully none of you will need that one!

WOW! I learn something everyday, thanks for sharing about the bears. that would be a good call in for work! LOL!

Oooh, LBF, that is a nice bear-proof trash area!! We do have a garage, so we keep the garbage in there, and the doors closed, unless we are entering or exiting. We have also seen many raccoons and squirrels going into our neighbor's garages when their doors were left open - again looking for food.

But really, it's still a pretty rare thing to actually see bears out like this during the day, and we are certainly able to spend time in our yard without any issues.
