Pheonixmom- woohoo! Kitchen makeover! Have fun!

Partyofseven- Yes, absolutely. :) It makes me feel at ease hearing a chipper voice and not the last one which was filled with sadness. I’m glad knowing he’ll have a letter from us in four days telling him of the other letters. I hope you had a great day with online schooling. There’s so much going on with our school but once we log into our class it makes it all float away. But that’s why we do it - it’s all about the kids!
  • VintageGal

MaterNauta- your Gumby is the best! How fun!

  • Northwoodsmom

Chipmunk, thank you for your thoughtfulness, it is greatly appreciated. I am pretty stressed right now, even though our Grade school has no cases they are going virtual because the High school is getting out of control. Bummer, I thrive off of those little ones enthusiasm and they usually make my day well worth the work. I live for those smiling faces. Now work is going to feel like a job instead of something you can't wait to get to.

  • Mandy

    Hi everyone,

Its been a while! Does anyone else here have an SR in division 384 ship 11? Just wondering if you’ve gotten the “I’m a sailor” call.

  • Chipmunk

Hi Mandy - Hoping for your to get your call!! Did you join the OCT PIR group? I don't know if any one posted in there or not. I don't know if you recall that last week we had one of our moms not receive her "sailor" call, even though she saw her son in the video. There have been some BS that are not taking place until after PIR.

Also, phone calls may end up being denied if other SR or sailors do not abide by rules that are in place. So, keep the hope up Mandy!!

Northwoodsmom - You are welcome!! I know that those kids are as much a blessing to you as you are to them!!

VintageGal - It is frustrating that your SR has not gotten your letters, but I am glad you had a call.

Kim & C'sMom2020 - Did your letters end up coming in the mail today?

Shanny - I have five children and there was one night that I had to take everyone to their activities, with someone also watching my youngest. My husband was out of town and all I did was drive back and forth up our main street in town for several hours. When it was all done, I thought, I could have driven to my mother in laws in that time period!! Now I just have one that I primarily take places, and I wonder how I did it all but life changes and focuses change. You can do this and you are being a great help to your family!! I hope all things are going well with your sailors and others that are dealing with storms.

PROUDMOM2020 - Welcome to BC Moms Group!!

  • Shanny

Chipmunk:  it was insane lol I Drove A1 to band, then on the way home stopped at the library for S, got home to make sure A2 was all good and she told me it was time to pick up A1 from band. So I went back to get her but they ran 30 minutes over time and I had to take S with me because she is the youngest and doesn’t listen to her sisters. Then I was trying to text A2 and tell her we were still waiting but she wasn’t answering her texts-she decided to take a shower while we were gone. Get everyone back and A2 tells me she needs to go to softball. Then my brother texts me and tells me he is late getting out of work and by the way the wife has a late meeting at work (she is a social worker). And A1 also needs to get back to the school because she is in marching band and they had a football game tonight. So get everyone where they need to be and their mom gets home. So I go home to wak the dog and get dinner and A2 calls and says her mom isn’t answer but she needs a ride home to get different shoes because she doesn’t want to wear cleats to the game. Drive her home so she can change and back to the school for the game where my brother meets us and gives us tickets for the game (he is a coach). I was going to decline but then A1 texts me and asks if I am coming to watch her in the band. So I froze at the game. Came home to a naughty puppy who tried to run away in protest when I took him home because he felt neglected lol

    but I survived!
my sailor is out of the storm path. But the sailors in Mississippi could be in the path. He says he just has a high surf warning and rip currents. And told to watch for tornadoes from the storm. So still keeping our fingers crossed and saying prayers for safety for all involved in that area!

oh and we got the math done. But only after we did it did I realize I taught he different than she was supposed to do it...  ratios and simplifying...  I taught her to look for numbers that would divide into both numbers...  guess I was supposed to teach her to factor and make factoring trees.  I don’t even know what those are lol but he understood what I was saying and kinda feel like if she gets it my way so be it. Her answers were all correct (she had to enter them online and it told us right or wrong). So we did good. I just did wrong lol

  • Shanny

And I totally typed that without my glasses on and probably spelled all kinds of thing incorrectly. Ignore me as usual when I mess up lol so ready for bed but this dog is beyond naughty

  • Momof4

    Hi Mandy,

I have a SR in ship 11, div. 384 as well and have not received the “I’m a sailor” call either.

  • belovedbyHim

Shanny-- HAHAHA!!! I remember doing the Kid Shuffle!!!  and as far as the Math goes.... If she got the right answer who cares how she did it!!! 1+2+3 = 6 if you solve by combining ((1+2=3)+ 3=6) or by straight math.  The whole idea behind this "New" math was to teach all the different ways to solve the same problem but it seems that some folks have gotten stuck on doing it the "Right way" instead of getting the "Right Answer".  Hopefully your Doggo settles down and goes to sleep.  Tomorrow he/she will have forgotten and all will be forgiven.

  • Shanny

its hard to stay mad at this face...

  • Mandy

Thank you Chipmunk and Momof4. I’ll keep my chin up. So hard not knowing!!

  • kim's husband Troy

Chipmunk - Yes, we received 2 letters! One was dated back on the 29th and the 2nd was from last weekend. Not sure how he was able to write on a Tuesday but we will take it LOL. He sounded great and said he was actually starting to get used to RTC and it's not to bad. Said he has passed all inspections and was proud that he was doing great with Fold & Stow. Couldn't believe our kid could be organized from the looks of his bedroom LOL. He said that his RCPO even challenged him to a friendly race at fold & stow and our SR was beaming when he beat him by 15 seconds and no hits. Very proud parents reading his letters. Thanks for all your encouragement!!

  • Chipmunk

Momof4 thanks for sharing with Mandy!! - As with so many other things at RTC, nothing is like it use to be scheduled. Since they seem to be trying to get everyone done with BC when they are basically working with two less weeks of training time and also do the virtual PIR it seems that some of the BS may be pushed out past when we expect them to take place. Hang in there!! I think these moments of waiting for this sort of news is the hardest for me. So I understand. And just FYI it is possible that you might not even hear from them until they arrive at their A school location - No News is Good News.

Be sure to let us know when you do get the call so we can celebrate with you!!

Shanny - You are correct - Hard to stay mad at that puppy face!! Shuffling kids is definitely a lot easier when you are use to doing it more. And if they had been at school for other classes, no one would have needed to shuttle them for band! There are reasons my work outside the home has always revolved around my kids schedule.

Thanks for the weather update - Prayers continue! I retired early last night - well not that early, just sooner than I do sometimes. :-)

VintageGal - I think you are the one that likes emoji - These are the ones I know. There is a way to do them on here, but I never learned - Ellen0502 and FTLW use to chat in here with dancing ones and I always enjoyed it! :-(   :-)   :-I   :P   my husband likes to share the last one with me, especially when he thinks I am being silly.

BelovedbyHim - I agree with your statement about teaching the mathematics concepts.

  • Chipmunk

Good morning everyone!! I logged in early because I have another busy day. First thing is to get that red laundry done that I forgot about yesterday so I can put my RED - Remember Everyone Deployed - tank top on today for RED Friday. We still have a warm afternoon approaching.

Reminder - When you receive the sailor call remember to change the sailor status on your My Page from at BC now to Enlisted!! - WooHoo!!

Also - be sure to check in on your My Page everyday. There may be comments from others in your comment wall, or friend invites, messages in your inbox that you need to take care of.

If you are just starting this journey be sure to read BelovedbyHim's blog

If your loved one has not left for BC yet - please read this post by B'sNukeMom - one of our site admins.

Before BC talk about ROM    even if your SR has left already, she has some good points about encouraging them during this time of COVID.

  • Chipmunk

Mandy!! I do understand!! That dead silence is always hard on me, even when my kids have a way to communicate with me!

  • Chipmunk

Good Morning Kim!! - That is great news to hear from your SR! I think the entire situation of many of our young men having to perform at things like Fold & Stow, especially when challenged to a race is why they do things in the Navy that they don't do at home. I am glad that he is doing well!!

  • Chipmunk

Have a good day everyone - I will check back in later!

  • partyofseven

Good Morning Ladies and welcome to all of our new moms,

I fell asleep last night or I would have posted already. Lol

Good Morning MoMof4- It's good to see you on here. Hope fully today or tonight calls will come thru for you ladies.

VintageGal- Good Morning, yes it is going to be a wild first week of soon not this week but next week. Some of my students are staying on line and one of them asked me yesterday Why are you not staying on line until Jan? I said I know but I have to go to school next week. Love these kids I tell you.

It looks like the hurricane is shifting a little bit prayers for everyone out in that area.

Kim- Yay for letters!!! I couldn't post earlier!!! :Letters and calls are always good. I am so glad he is sounding happy and good and that he passed his inspections!!! yay!! It always does our hearts good when our kids are doing good and sounding happy.

  • Anti M

Good morning all.  I'm not doing much other than chipping away at chores and giving up on getting my lawn mowed.  I guess I will just have a meadow out back.

Today is my first zoom meeting.  A writer/producer of a couple science fiction shows does a live chat with fans now and then.  I have been following his blog for years and somehow got selected.  This should be interesting, but I feel like a bad fan because I can't think of any questions.  Maybe we can just talk about food and Japan...

  • Kristel2400

@vintage..... our SRs are in the SAME div!! WOOHOOO!

  • partyofseven

Anti M- That is exciting. Maybe you can look him up and see what's been happening with him lately.

Food and Japan are good subjects.  :)

I am tackling my back yard today if it kills me!!!  Lol

Have a great day and enjoy that zoom!!! Let us know how it goes!

Kristel2400- Good Morning, Oh my gosh that is so awesome for you two ladies!!! Whoo Hoo.

  • Kristel2400

I gave soooo many messages to catch up on ... apparently my emails aren’t alerting me to all new posts. So yeah ....

I hope everyone is having a great day - HAPPY FRIDAY LADIES!! ❤️

  • Phoenixmom

Good Morning All Happy Friday! YAY! hoping all is well with everyone! Here in Phoenix we are enjoying some Nice weather especially in the morning..........AHHHH! feels good finally! Seeing quite the posts this morning very Good. Good Morning Chipmunk, Anti M, PartyofSeven hope you all enjoy your Day! Thanks for the scripture as well as Psalm is one of my Favorites! so is this scripture!

  • Chipmunk

Kristel2400 - Make sure below the comment wall that it says - Stop Following - Don't email me when people comment.

It sounds backwards but that is what you should see if you are receiving the email feeds. If it says Follow - then it has gotten turned off accidently and you need to click on the blue letters to turn it back on.

Anti M - Enjoy your Zoom meeting!! That sounds like it will be interesting. I am not much of a SciFi person but my kids get it from their dad.

VintageGal & Kristel2400 - WooHoo - glad you will be able to compare notes.

  • Phoenixmom

A Morning Prayer for scripture Below:

    Heavenly Father,

Forgive me for the times that I have allowed the wicked ways of the ungodly to disturb my rest in You. Keep me from anxious thoughts and may I learn to be still in Your presence, to rest in Your love and to wait patiently for You to act – knowing that You work all things together for our benefit and for Your glory, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

  • LadyBluefire

So someone mentioned bears at the zoo. Our zoo put in a bear enclosure, I haven;t been to it since then, but I am like who needs to go to the zoo to see bears? Lol!

Phoenixmom - so glad you are hearing good news from your Dr and I hope you get your “diet” situation sorted soon. So excited for you and your new kitchen - and jealous too - I HATE my counters. But if we are moving soon no point in spending the $$. Lavender oil is like the Swiss Army knife of skin ointments. It needs to be put in a carrier oil if the area is large as it can be a little drying.

MyKidsMom - when they get worked with on their running the RDCs do WONDERS. I have seen minutes shaved off times….your SR will do it. As long as the will to do it is there your SR will make it!

MaterNauta - I LOVE it! Where on earth did you find sailor Gumby?

Csmom - yay for a letter! Finally getting my second envelope from my kid. So did he enclose a letter to the questionnaire?

Toby - They can write every day of the week- that is what all 4 of mine said. So awesome your son is passing all inspections! Amazing the pride that gets instilled in them and such a motivation to do better..

Anti M - sounds like your house is coming along - going to be ship shape and Bristol fashion!

Vintage - glad your son sounded good - getting out of ROM has to give them some sort of “high” - getting back to training is all my 1st 2 wanted when they paused their training due to COVID. Super bummed 2 weeks of ROM extended his time by 3 weeks though...

Northwoodsmom - sorry to hear your school is going virtual. Depersonalizes the job :(

Shanny - I had to do a double take A1 is my oldest A name kid and A2 is my next A name kid and that is how we labeled things at home. You truly are a super aunt - as for math it only matters how they do it if the purpose of the lesson is to show them how to do it that way so if she was learning factor trees it was important. But if the goal is to just get the right answer then I wish our schools would just let them do whatever way they find easy! Common Core math made me glad my kids are home schooled! Khan Academy is a great math resource!

I bet your SR is bummed that Delta shifted course. Tell him he really is not missing much of a show, lol. lol about the photos. They order them right after BST-21 so definitely sleep deprived!

Oh my gosh! How could you EVER get mad at that face? He is beautiful!!!!

  • LadyBluefire

Mandy -  your SR is in the last group to do BST - we had a mom recently whose son was also in the last group and he called on Friday afternoon. Another mom did not even get the call because her SR did it late and went straight to A school and that was her first contact.  They usually put up photos of the graduating divisions hours before the video. That’s how one mom knew her SR’s division made it, lol.

Party  - doing well. Only 88% humidity right now, lol. My hubby likes to drink coffee on the porch so I am kind of glad he is tired and I am drinking my coffee in the AC, lol. I went by your page and found out you had 7 kids and this whole time I thought your family was partyofseven cause 5 kids 2 adults. My hats off to you - though I am not sure how much more 7 kids is than 5. At some point chaos is chaos. We had a friend apologize for leaving their kid at our house too long and we were like what’s one more?  - have fun in your backyard - I like to pretend mine doesn’t exist!

Kristel - how cool you and Vintage can share a division. In 4 SRs never have I shared a division with another member here...

Well yesterday I had my countertops measured going Sat. to pick the style of cabinets color of countertops and my Back splash. Getting a New stove sink, and Island Hood. Nothing to fancy but I'm sure it will make a difference. My Home is Block built in 72. all the rooms are done and bathrooms. Living area has new carpet. Just recently had all my Plumbing redone as far as Pipes and rerouted. My Water heater was replaced as My washer so I'm making some adjustments. Kitchen will be the Biggest project, hoping for Christmas it will be done. A very big Christmas to Me!

  • partyofseven

Phoenixmom- That sounds awesome!! I love the old houses anyways. So much history in them and for the most part they are built very well. I loved my brother's house in Ambler, Pa. He had the old basement where we were always scared to go into cause we thought it was scary!!! Lol

I can't wait to hear about your progress thou. Yay for renovations!!

LadyBluefire- Lol yes I always felt like the Brady Bunch with so many kids running around. Lol

One more didn't make a difference either. Lol

  • VintageGal

    Good morning ladies,

Happy Fall ya'll! Loving these cooler temperatures :) It's so refreshing to open the windows in the morning to let in the cool breeze Awwwe...

Kristel2400- Woohoo! That's great that our boys are in the same division! Now we can keep each other informed when one of us gets word on advancements and things :) that's exciting!

Kim - That's wonderful news for your SR! It makes us so proud to hear of their successes!

Chipmunk - Good morning! Sounds like you had a wonderfully productive morning :-) Thanks for the emoji suggestions :p LOL

Shanny - Precious puppy! I hope he's feeling better. Sounds like you had quite the day with your nieces. I love the Auntie life!

Anti M- Have fun! Sounds so interesting and exciting!

Partyofseven - We love our school babies! They are the highlight of the day!

Ladybluefire - Enjoy your time off together :) I agree, I was sadly shocked that he was pushed 3 weeks. I was expecting a Oct 22 PIR. My husband said just think maybe this extra time will put a better opportunity in front of him that maybe he wouldn't have had otherwise. :)

Pheonixmom - Amen! Thank you :) I'm excited to watch the Navy Band concert. They're incredible! Congrats on the kitchen makeover!

Excited for this weeks PIRs :)

Welcome to our new moms! BNMH! Big Navy Mom Hugs!

    Have a wonderful day everyone!

  • MyKidsMom

Thank you to everyone for your encouraging words. I expect my SR will pass the run with some help. It sounds like he didn’t miss by much. It was just disheartening to get that phone call when I was looking forward to getting the “I’m a Sailor” call.

  • Phoenixmom

Thanks Ladies! PartyofSeven are you taking advantage of this cooler weather? Going to pumpkin patch and chili festival tomorrow after I go to warehouse and pick out my colors. spending time with Grandkids doing the corn maze, I guess there is a first time for everything! LOL Enjoy the cooler weather folks it is much needed!

I know this is a long shot. It I figured I would ask if anyone has a suggestion...  my son is looking for a girl that graduated with him from high school. She is one of the recruits he brought in. He is trying to find out if she shipped yet. He only remembers she was going after him. They had the same recruiter but he has left and gone back to the fleet. He wanted to write her if she is in BC because he said she didn’t have family support. She hasn’t answered his texts, hasn’t opened snapchats so he is assuming she is in BC.

Anyone have any suggestions of ways he may be able to find her?  I’d write her as well if o could find her address. I have asked around here but no one seems to know when she was going to leave. She was very quiet and always stayed to herself. But my kid and her became friends and she always got rides with him to DEP meetings...
