NewMilMom, congratulations on the form letter. Just to see their handwriting is like getting a little piece of heaven. Don't take much to make a Mama's heart flutter. Happy you can finally mail your letters and encourage your son through his Boot Camp experience. The first true phone call will really send your heart soaring, do much to look forward to. Prayers to you and your son.

Good Morning and welcome to all of our new moms,

Keep those phones on you at all times and those ringers on loud as you just never know when calls will come in.

May letters continue to come in today as well.

NewMilMom-Yay for the form letter. That is awesome!!! Now you can mail those letters off and wait for your letter to come and a phone call as well.  Whoo Hoo

Kim- Good Morning, What some people will do is beyond me. No, there is no palm trees at GL!!!! Lol Glad to hear your SR has been doing well.

Yesterday marked my Sailor's PIR 3 years ago. After looking thru the pictures and everything it was like I was there again. What a journey so far with more adventures to come before he decides if he will re enlist or not!!!

On another note we have started hybrid so I have been very busy with that. Today is day 3. We just got word last night that someone has the virus and we all have been exposed. It has only been 2 days. This is so cray cray. I should find out more today about what we will do.

Please keep me and my school in your prayers and pray for all of us as the numbers are rising again. I thank you in advance for your prayers.

God Bless and have a great day everyone!!!

    James 1:3

Good Morning everyone!! I have to post every so often, so I know how far back  I need to read through my notes!!

Phoenixmom and BelovedbyHim - so glad you were posting.

LBF - I read yours but didn't stop to reply! WooHoo on another phone call and your #4's division doing so well.

VintageGal - I didn't get done with all of my reading but neither did the other ladies. I had actually gotten farther than they had!! HaHa!. I need to stop and compare notes with you through a PM, but not sure when. : (  On a happy note, it was really good to be in my friend's home and with other moms and time to just be real!! To have some "skin on" so to speak.

I had to laugh over the Palm trees in IL. Like B'sNukeMom posted, RTC has it straight on their website. Can't believe they had to post that again on their FB page because people won't pay attention. Oh well. I guess it was someone wanting to be hopeful, maybe.

I am praying for those lost picture packages to be found.

Another busy day but I want to welcome all of our new members!! And those that are reading but not joined yet. Please be sure to reach out to us if you need anything.

  • Katharine

I got the form letter yesterday! I hope that means the other 4 or 5 letters are coming too. Hahahahahahahaha.

They lost his paperwork. At first he was in compartment, but they moved a bunch of them to one of the halls they had converted for ROM. Admin people are coming from Mississippi today to go through the paperwork backlog and try to figure out what to do with all of them (seems they lost a ton of paperwork). He got his phone back yesterday!!!!!!!!

15 minutes ago they announced restrictions on phones, so I won't hear anything for 6 or 7 more hours. At least I know he didn't fall into the Lake .... just his paperwork did.

  • Chipmunk

Katharine - Glad to hear your sailor did not fall into the lake either!!  I have so enjoyed your sense of humor through your entire BC experience!!  And the form letter, yeah - now you can mail your letters - Oh wait, he graduated!!!  How funny!.

For our new members, Katharine's son graduated last week but has been in a holding pattern at RTC. She is also one of our moms who never received her form letter, we were ready to send out the Navy Mom Posse to go look for her "lost puppy".

  • Chipmunk

Partyofseven - prayers for you and your school.

  • VintageGal

    Good morning,

Chipmunk- i’m glad you got to go to your book club and have back that sense of normalcy. I remember we had one of those types of books where it was supposed to be good and funny and then it ended up being... uh, not. I finished my book in time for book club later this afternoon- on a google meet. Usually we all meet up at Mimi’s Café and I really miss it. The ladies in my book club are retired teachers and a couple who still are working (from the school where I work) but are not too keen on getting together yet. After I finished my book, I quickly picked up a book that I’ve been meaning to get to called - Before We Were Yours. So I am enjoying the cold air coming through the window, and my book and coffee. Awwwee. Yes, let’s definitely compare notes!

I dreamt last night that I went to Walgreens and I saw a man walking into Walgreens with a blue candle in his hands and he was meeting up with a bunch of other parents with their blue candles and then I started to cry wishing I had my blue candle to join them. - i’ve been having some vivid dreams lately!

Partyofseven- welcome to the world of online schooling! Ugh The only thing that makes it worthwhile is seeing their sweet faces. Other than that I am completely done with being on the computer all day. I hope you have a good chair! And a masseuse!

Phoenixmom - how about those Cardinals on Monday night? dang!

NewMilmom- yay for the form letter and being able to send your SR letters! That’s how I felt getting it, it wasn’t a formal letter from my son but at least it had his handwriting on it! We got personal letters from him not too long after that. So exciting!

    LadyBlueFire- how are you?!
How scary about the kid choking! That’s great that he quickly got the attention of a superior!
I bet my son was super happy to have steak and lobster :) although he is such a food critic and if it wasn’t medium rare... yikes lol Although I bet darn well those boys and girls were super thankful no matter how it was cooked.

    Belovedbyhim- good morning!

Kristel2400 - good to see you on here :) how’s it going?

Shanny- I hope you’re feeling better and things are going well :)

I hope everyone has a great day!
time to get ready for work.
  • Redrover0628

VintageGal--read Before We Were Yours recently...best book I have read in a very long time! You will love it!

  • VintageGal

RedRover0628 - You’re absolutely right! I am loving it so far and don’t want to put it down! Why do I have to work today?! :)
  • LadyBluefire

    Good Morning everyone!

Kristel - I don't understand people! Why would anyone be that mean to pretend they could see their kid after PIR and get a lot of people’s hopes up? Maybe it was an A school graduation? I never saw the post but I saw the rumors flying all over the place.

NewMilmom - congrats on the Form Letter. I loved seeing the handwriting even on that. Knowing my child touched that paper and filled it out was almost as good as a letter, which like Kim said, if your child wrote to you you should be getting those letters VERY soon!

Party - prayers coming your way :)

Katharine - Oh my! FINALLy the form letter? I am so glad he has his phone - no matter how restricted. Is that where your son is going? MS? That is where #2 was and where #3 is.

Dsmom - it hasn’t been a week since they were mailed. It can take a while. You can sign up for fedex version of informed delivery and hopefully keep an eye on them.

Vintage - What a sweet dream even if you forgot your blue candle. :)

I am well. I had a slight accident yesterday, no good deed goes unpunished, lol. I was cleaning off the blinds and I must have tapped the wooden valance and it fell and landed just right on the side of  my foot. Gave me a knot that stuck out further than my ankle. Bruised the muscle underneath. The stupid valance barely weighs anything but the height it fell from was enough to cause pain, cut me and bruise me. So that was fun, lol.

As for the steak I guarantee it was probably cooked well done.

RedRover - so nice seeing you post on here more regular like. ;)

  • LadyBluefire

So we called my hubby’s dad in TX - 90 years old - and asked him if he wanted to come to #4s birthday party. We hangouts called him, R #1, SR #3 and had #4’s photo on a 15” display sitting at his spot at the table.  Well, it was like an episode of nailed it. My #3 had a bad signal, there was a slight delay for FIL, and so when we were singing Happy Birthday it was all out of sync. Then my FIL said he wanted to ask #4 a question, and we thought he was being silly, but he asked my #4 if he had received his last letter. At this point I hadn’t clicked it was serious and said in a squeaky voice “yes”. I swear my hubby mentioned #4 was still at RTC when we invited Dad to the party. When I said yes all the kids laughed. Zoom may have been a little less confusing. In hangouts the person talking is the larger person on screen so with 4 devices going and 6 people talking it was chaotic, hangouts bouncing back and forth between all the faces, lol. To top it off #4s bad luck reared up and the only messed up cupcake was one with orange frosting, his fave color. But it was very real and my son should get a kick out of it...I stopped recording after we sang HB though so the question did not make it on video.

Well, deciding if I really want to cut up a whole bunch of veggies for a crockpot meal or just cook something else later today. My son has youth at 6:30 and that is why I usually pick the crock pot meals on Weds

Good Morning All, It is Hump Day (Wednesday). Hope you all had a great start to your Day!

VintageGal them Cardinals AMAZE me at times. It was a dear friend of mines Birthday, he also lost his life to Cancer a few years prior to my Hubby them two were really good friends, so this Game was dedicated to my Husband, and I know them two were having a blast rocking out with Van Halen if I know my Husband. It was a Great Day! I have a Co-worker who her and her husband went over the weekend to TX to go see Dallas play Cardinals, I have to tease her when she gets back! LOL!

PartyofSeven You will be fine, it is difficult trying to get the kids attention online as they aren't as focused like in classroom. Fingers crossed you have a productive day!

  • Phoenixmom

A Morning Prayer for the scripture Below:

Lord, help reset our hearts and mind. We often have a “why me” mentality and fall into complaining when trials arise. Help us to consider it pure joy whenever we face any type of trial because we know that through it you will grow our faith as long as we lean into you and don’t give up. Then we can look back and see all the awesome things you did to help us persevere. We will see how you can use our situation to encourage others. Praise your name for using even the most difficult time for your glory. In the One who walked this earth and suffered more than we can imagine to bring you glory – Amen!

  • Anti M

Good morning everyone.  LOL on the palm trees.  The Navy runs on rumors, but to actually see one start with an individual is mind blowing.  I too hope it is wishful thinking rather than a mean prank.

The weather is turning here, although it isn't jacket weather yet.  I suppose there will be fewer leaves to rack now my tree lost a couple big branches and the neighbor has no trees at all now!

Hump Day?  Naw, it's My Poor Old Kitty is Getting His Teeth Done Day.  He already peed on my friend who came to take him to the vet.  At least she got a towel under him, poor old guy.

  • Phoenixmom

I do have to say Kansas City chiefs are doing great this year, someone on here was a Kansas city Fan! Your Poor kitty he just wasn't having it this morning. Hoping all is well with you, its getting a little chilly in the wee mornings here but nice! I love the cold, our cold let me rephrase  not snow and freezing cold, HAHAHA!

  • partyofseven

Thank you everyone for your prayers and encouraging words. It's 7 days before symptoms show up and they told us this morning that everything was handled quickly and efficiently. Hooray for all the cleaning we have been doing.

Radiers and Dolphins are 3-2 Saints and Panthers are with this group as well, 49ers as well.

Vikings, Lions, Falcons, Eagles, Giants, are not doing so well.

And that is football news! LOL!

  • Velvetenor

Hey all! Just checking in here to see how y'all are doing!

Yes, I say "y'all" sometimes, even though I've lived in NY/NJ my whole life - lol! I find it to be a very comforting and inclusive colloquialism, and I just like the way it rolls off the tongue! :)

Anyway, I hope you all are doing well and having a good week. Prayers to all whose SRs have been set back due to ROM - it is so challenging, but they will make it through with your love and support!

Also, Go Steelers!! 5-0 for the first time in a LONG time. I hope Big Ben can lead his team to victory this year!!

Our weather here was turning colder a week ago (in the 50s), but now we are having a bit of a warmer weather interlude this week back up to the 60s/70s. We have gorgeous peak fall leaf color here now, too, so it is great weather for spending time wandering outside and enjoying the scenery!

  • Phoenixmom

Good Morning Velvetenor so good to hear from you! Glad all things are well!

Yes, Please remember if it is your PIR please keep phones close and on High all this week never know when you will get that call!

  • LadyBluefire

Velvet - you may appreciate this story. I am too lazy to PM you, lol.
We were playing PG on Charmander Community Day because we have a goal to evolve all Pokemon to have both a boy and girl in our Pokedex.  Hubby was going to Mega Evolve his boy shiny to X and Y and I was wanting to Evolve my girl to X and Y and then trade as it is cheaper to Mega Evolve a previously evolved one and this saves us a lot of mega energy. Now I really did not need a shiny but we had realized none of us had any girl Charizards at all.

So, we play and I catch 22 shinies. 0 girls. I was only catching shinies...hubby caught about a dozen shinies - 3 girls.

It was so funny, my youngest was getting annoyed with me.
    "Ooooh a Shiny! And it's a BOY"

  • MaterNauta

Yesterday, for the first time, my Sailor facetimed me while I was on my afternoon walk with my husband. PRAISE THE LORD!! What a blessing was to see him looking AND sounding so good!!! He exuded so much peace... We were able to catch up at so many levels, and I could ask him to clarify anything I had not understood correctly! He is truly enjoying the Navy, which makes me question whether my husband and I were too harsh on raising our children... :-) My husband would always say " 'D' Day" whenever any one of us would utter the slightest complaint. Meaning "how does your predicament fare in comparison to "D" Day.

Katharine: my goodness on you receiving the form letter after graduation!!!

DsMom2020: every time I open this site and read everything, I look forward to hearing about your photos saga!

NewMilMom2020: Congratulations on the form letter!!!!!! Remember: no musical cards, nor anything glittery!!!! The first thing I sent my (then) SR was a musical card in a Fedex envelope! It wasn't cheap... After I got to the information on what not to send, I couldn't sleep that night thinking that my SR and--worse yet--his whole division could have gotten IT time because of a mistake I made. My best friend from college, who always sees the silver lining in EVERYTHING told me that, if that was the case, everyone would remember my SR's mom. :-) Later I found out that nothing happened.

Phoenixmom and Partyofseven: I have said it already, yet let me say it again: thank you for the prayers you post. They DO help to "recalibrate!!"

Keeping all the moms and loved ones in my thoughts and prayers,

    ~MaterNauta

  • Phoenixmom

Thank you MaterNauta it does wonders for me as well!

  • belovedbyHim

VintageGal—I LOVED  Before We Were Yours!!!  Keep Tissues handy!!! I tend toward Audio Books since I can listen while I drive and Crying and Driving are NOT a good combo!!

Katharine – I bet that put your mind at ease… NOT!  Someone’s head is gonna roll for the Paperwork SNAFU!! The military does NOT appreciate missing paperwork!! (Don’t worry, the buck will be passed UP the chain so….) Seriously though, I don’t remember ever hearing of a kid having more paperwork issues!! Lost form letter, missing paperwork, lost letters… It’s like he’s in the paperwork black hole.

Partyofseven – Yikes!! Hopefully you don’t have to go into ROM!!

  • Katharine

beloved ..... Party can't go into ROM ..... they've converted it to the Island of the Lost Boys (and girls). It sounds like there are dozens and dozens of them.

LadyBlue - He is not going to MS .... he just needs to go across the street. He said people from admin HQ are coming from MS. I guess they are coming to clean up this mess.Hoping for news in a few hours.

If nothing else, I have slowly been letting a tiny bit of my Type A personality mellow. The mortgage refi took 45 days .... oh well. The dentist appointment got rescheduled .... fine. The plumber can't come until tomorrow ... whatever. Local elections office told me to commit forgery .... a little giggle. Honestly ..... it's all driving me nuts but I am calmer than I would have been 2 months ago. Hubby is getting worried ;). Crazy.jpg

Shanny! Hi! 401-414 PIR this week so last week 400 PIR.

So another small world = my son (#3 SR) saw a sailor - not sure rank - but  had a USS Iowa hat on and my son said "My dad was on the Iowa". So the sailor went home and looked at his ship yearbook and lo and behold - his dad was on the Iowa the same time.

  • partyofseven

    Shanny, Hey,

It's good to see you back. Hope you are feeling better now. Allergies and sinus's are the pits.

I am so glad your son got in touch with his friend. That's awesome!!!

belovedbyHim- It is a waiting game. They are not sure what they will consider an out break. We will see. It wasn't in my bldg but the virus doesn't care about that. We just opened lol and it's my 3rd day today. I see kids small groups every day.

    We will get thru this!!!

Please continue to be safe out there while the fires are burning.

  • Northwoodsmom

PhoenixMom, I know we shouldn't complain but if we wouldn't of we would of missed Chipmunks inspiring message to us. We all really needed her encouragement on the Nukes Mom's page today. So God used her to help so many because of our complaining. Thank you for reminding us though.

  • Phoenixmom

NorthwoodsMom don't worry, I tend to complain myself except no one listens to me at Home ,so I keep it to myself LOL!

  • VintageGal

Belovedbyhim ~ So far I'm loving this book! Sometimes when you have the back and forth between stories and time periods you like one more than the other. With this book you can't wait to read both! Although, I am basically yelling at the granddaughter to just get the two ladies together asap! lol

crying and driving isn't a great combo LOL

shanny ~ I'm glad that your Sailor and his friend have been reunited. (reunited song now in my head) I'm curious on how they found each other since we were trying to pull a mission impossible!

  • Chipmunk

Just a reminderNOV 2020 PIR Group - Be sure to sign up for the November PIR.

  • Shanny

VintageGal:  he kept texting her and snap chatting until she replied!  They have been texting since she got her phone.

Anyone with recent grads!!!  US Navy Recruit Training Command FB page posted recent pictures from BS. Most pics are dark and hard to distinguish facades but maybe one is yours?  Worth a look!  My son said they look recent since they were wearing coats.

  • Shanny

That should say FACES not facades

  • Chipmunk

Phoenixmom - Your prayer went right along with my post in the other group.

Northwoodsmom - You might view it as complaining, but I also sense a lot of discouragement and I also needed a good reminder to seek that which is good and beautiful.

LadyBluefire - OUCH!!! I read your post earlier, and I can very much empathize with your pain. I bruise easily as well.  Sorry to hear about the Happy Birthday mismatch of timing. But at least it is not the SNAFU or FUBAR that Katharine's sailor has been dealing with.

Shanny -  That is wonderful news that your sailor was able to connect with his friend from high school!

  • Velvetenor

LadyBlueFire - Haha, that is a funny story, but WOW, 22 shinies? That is a lot! Hubby and I were playing PG while we were in NY on Saturday - we went to "Sleepy Hollow" which is really Tarrytown, NY. My husband is a big fan of the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow", and anything Halloween, really, so we went to the site of the old church and graveyard where Washington Irving is buried, and where once stood the old covered bridge that was the inspiration for the story. We were able to play PG while we were walking about, and we each caught a few shinies, but that is about it.  I am going to PM you my Friend Code so I can send you gifts on the game. :)

  • Phoenixmom

last week I found out that the Theodore has Covid again, My Bud so worried as they ship out soon. with this last captain Crozier being fired , what will happen now? I'm sure this captain will be hush hush about it, it just so happen to get leaked out again.

  • Phoenixmom

That is Nice to Know Chipmunk! Thank you for posting Nov. PIR group!

Darn, my elderly kitty passed during his dental surgery today.  Harry was 17, and a very loving, spoiled cat.

  • partyofseven

    Anti M,

    He is so beautiful!!!

I love it that you had him for a long time. I am very sorry to hear this news. Big hugs to you!!

  • Northwoodsmom

AntiM, so sorry you lost your kitty. He brought you years of beautiful memories. Prayers to you.

  • Shanny

Anti M:  oh what a beautiful boy!  I am so sorry for your loss.

  • MyKidsMom

Anti M - I’m sorry for the loss of your cat. He is such a handsome boy.

  • Shanny

Just sitting here getting videos from my sailor at school. He and his friends are sitting outside singing Garth Brooks songs. Man I would be dying laughing here if it wasn’t for the fact that one of those guys is REALLY good!

so he was given some more responsibility at A School. He is now doing the schedules for everyone’s watch-assigning the guys to a time and job. I asked him if that was a good thing. He says they have him more responsibility. That is a good thing.

so I picked up a Z-pak for what they thought was a sinus infection. One more day on it and I feel a million times better. Face isn’t swollen anymore and headaches are gone. Restarted my supplements to get the hair loss stopped again. It sucks to be sick.
classic my kid. Texts me to tell me he ordered something and is having it shipped to the house because he doesn’t know where he will be when it ships. Told me to not open it because it was for Christmas. I asked him if he had a tracking number so he would know how it was shipping. He screenshot it and sent it to me and it has the info of what he bought lol he goes oh damn didn’t mean to tell ya what it was lol

Football...  anyone know who Kurt Cousins plays for now?  I know he left the Redskins but no idea where he ended up going...  he has been a favorite of mine since his college days..

  • Kristel2400

@anti m.....I’m so sorry to hear about your sweet Harry! He was a beautiful kitty....17?!! Wow! He definitely gave you lots of memories. My oldest is 15 now. Its hard to find a silver lining when you lose a loved one....but I’d be grateful if my older love bug went over that rainbow bridge during a procedure - versus having to put him down or he disappears bc he “knows”. Still so sad. Sending you BNMH!

@shanny.....that’s totally something my SR would do....oopsie! Lol It’s great they gave him more responsibility! They must see potential in him. Glad to hear about you feeling better too! It’s amazing what a nice ZPak can do! ❤️
