Thank You Anti M for answering, Luci Here's hoping that your Son makes a wise decision.

Shanny Hoping your Son stays safe! Sounds like he already knows what to do!

  • belovedbyHim

Chipmunk-- I don't teach but I can so relate!!!  Thanks for sharing the Baby Blues strip with us!

  • belovedbyHim

Chipmunk—I’m sorry about your trees.  Be careful if you have to venture out.  Ice is 1000X more dangerous than snow!!

LadyBlueFire—Thank you for that drawing.  That will be helpful for our PIR folks.
All our moms (and Troy) Remember to ask your sailor when they call for that last “I’m a Sailor” call, where they are in formation.  At that point unless someone gets super sick no one should be ASMO’d so that shouldn’t change.

Also on your question about liberty and leave, Please understand that Logic is an anathema to the Navy!! They DO NOT accept or use it unless ordered to do so!!

Zeta is the 6th letter in the Greek Alphabet so we haven’t quite gone through the letters twice, Also not ever letter in the Latin alphabet is used for named storms. All That said, YES we have had a TON of storms this year just as predicted.  If this storm hits Louisiana as it is expected to it will be a record setting 5th named storm to hit a single state in a single season and if it hits the Lake Charles area that would be the first time EVER a single area had landfall in the same place more than twice.

Luci—I am so sorry that your son has been injured.  I’m glad Anti M was able to answer.  She is our Resident Veteran and she KNOWS so much more than we do.  I’m so thankful that we have her wisdom here!

  • LadyBluefire

BBH - thanks  I learned something new today. That being said we have gone thru 30 named storms this year and none of them were truly devastating to the US - thank God.

I recall when Charlie came back for a 2nd sweep - or was it Ivan/Frances or Jean? So long ago. Anyway that was the worst season I dealt with until the flood. We have a whole house generator as the year prior to the flood we had no power for 2 weeks. That is usually our only outcome here.

  • Shanny

    HAPPY NAVY DAY!!!

  • LadyBluefire

BBH - oops I miscounted - I thought only 2 letters not used, 5 are not used so we are at 27 named storms this year...

  • Northwoodsmom

Shanny, hope your back is better. I have leaves to pickup yet too but someone was nice enough to dump 4" of snow on top of them so -- out sight out of mind. Actually it is suppose to get into the fourties this weekend and it might melt. Ugh and I have to do my Dad's yard too.

My son was a section leader, when they were in the buildings for PIR in the winter the section leaders would collect everyone's coats. It made it easier to spot him and they even had a separate picture of them holding the coats. No idea how things work now, Covid was just getting started back in March. They weren't even wearing mask yet. I feel bad for you Moms trying to spot their Sailors with half their face covered up, it was hard enough before Covid.

Trying to come up with some ideas for the kids here at school for Halloween. I usually made a bid to do over it but with all the restrictions it too has become a nightmare.

Hope we get some more I'm a Sailor calls,  prayers you hear soon.

  • belovedbyHim

LadyBluefire-- Yes 27 named storms and we have been lucky that none have been mega deadly although poor Lake Charles!! Forgotten by the National Media and hit twice!! Those folks are really dealing with a lot!! Many are still without power, roofs and secure shelter and with COVID there is no where to safely evacuate to!  Most of the folks in that area are either oil & gas or fishermen so they are tough but it's still sad to see them forgotten!

  • belovedbyHim

Northwoodsmom--- That same person came and covered up my leaves too!! I just wish our state had paid the heating bill!! It's still FREEZING!!! (anywhere from -10 to 1 this am depending on where you were Colder at elevations over 6000ft or in the many low lying areas in town.  The batteries died on my thermometer so I don't know what we got to last night.)

  • kim's husband Troy

So excited to announce that we have a SAILOR!!!

  • belovedbyHim

    CONGRATULATIONS Kim and Troy!!!!

  • Phoenixmom

Congratulations Kim on Your New Sailor! HOOYAH!

  • Velvetenor

Yay! Congratulations to MyKidsMom, Mellie, and Kim on your new sailors!! So exciting!! Bravo Zulu!!

  • Phoenixmom

So BelovedbyHim what do you mean by the state paying the Heating? is Your Heating out? So you all don't pay for heating? Seems pretty weird.

  • LadyBluefire

Yay! BRAVO ZULU to you Kim!
  • Velvetenor

Northwoodsmom - my son was a section leader, too, and I was so glad to spot him taking the coats of his fellow sailors down the line at PIR, too.

Prayers for all you new-sailor moms that you can spot your new sailors on the video this Friday!! <3

  • VintageGal

KIM/TROY!! CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR SAILOR AND YOUR FAMILY!!! BRAVO ZULU SAILOR!!! Thanks for the update! Sooooo exciting!!
  • belovedbyHim

Phoenixmom-- It's a joke that when it's crazy hot or more often crazy cold that the state forgot to pay the bill!! 90% of the year it is quite comfortable here.  Not too hot, not to cold (or at least it feels that way) but every now and again we get a day like yesterday and today where the temps are negative or single digits and that is our joke... that someone forgot to pay the bill!  (Or forgot to turn on the heater/AC or has been messing with the state thermostat.....) It's all in fun.

  • kim's husband Troy

Thank you all! Also thanks for the recommendation to ask his position during PIR. We know exactly where to watch for him now LOL

  • Phoenixmom

I get it now BelovedbyHim, I just didn't get it at first, went over my head. I was confused...…..Lol! The weather has been crazy its 65 here in Phoenix but by the weekend it will be up to 91 again. This weather is messing with me as well.

  • Chipmunk

I just had to pop on and say  BRAVO ZULU  to Kim and Troy on your new sailor!!  WooHoo!!! Rejoicing with you. Glad you know where to look.

Mine was a stick but at the last minute things had to get changed but he was still a section leader, so I could spot him and there just went another branch out of the tree in my front yard!!

I am sorry. I know this is not as bad as everyone facing fires, but it is still so disheartening! BBH - We are staying inside and everything gets cancelled in our area. But between running to see what broke when I hear something and a long phone call from my sailor today - I am not getting far with my deadline being met.

  • LadyBluefire

Kim/Toby is also nice to be able to actually understand what they mean when they say some of the things about where they are in the March. I was clueless with my first three.
my first two were stick 2 so I would have had no problem seeing them in the video. I don't know about my third because he didn't mention being section leader or a stick, and my fourth was a section leader so he would have been the one collecting the parkas.
  • hugabugs

I know he had BS last night and his division is calling. Seems like four lg. divisions are all calling. I'm a nervous wreck.

  • VintageGal

Oh Hugabugs! Sending you BNMH right now! I feel ya! Supposedly my son will be doing BS tonight. We’re all on edge over here!!
  • Kristel2400

Hey Vintage.... how do you know they are doing BS tonight? Did I miss a post again?! Sorry! But that’s exciting!! I REALLY hope they call us tomorrow to tell us some HAPPY NEWS!!

CONGRATS to those WITH NEW SAILORS!!! HOOYAH!!⚓️

  • VintageGal

Kristel2400- Hi! yes, if you look back at Kim‘s post on the October PIR page read through the conversation that we had. Apparently four groups did battle stations last night and they got calls today. So if everything runs in the same timeline we may get calls sometime tomorrow morning or afternoon.
All I know is that my phone is not leaving my side!!
  • Phoenixmom

well fingers crossed we get more I'm a Sailor calls! I'm sure by tomorrow or later tonight there will be some.

I would like to extend a great big , and Bravo Zulu to you all in case I miss it! CONGRATULATIONS to all you moms Awaitng!

I will be leaving so Have a Great Night! Sleep tight! Sweet Dreams!

  • LadyBluefire

Just popping on real quick to give you guys an update on chipmunk. there was a loud crash and a bang and a glow, and she has lost electricity. So she will be out until that gets resolved. She will update everybody as soon as she can.
  • VintageGal

LadyBlueFire- oh no! I hope everything is ok! Thanks for letting us know.
  • Kristel2400

    Thank you @Vintage!!!

Omgosh @LBF, that sounds crazy! Thank you for letting us know & I hope everything is ok with @Chipmunk!! I look forward to hearing what all of that was! I know she said she got ice last night and trees were snapping ... I pray that her, her family and home are ok. I’m sad to hear about your sailor not being able to come home for the holidays but there’s a little light knowing at least you can go see them. I know it’s not ideal and you’re right - no logic but you still have the option which is great! What is outside the circle...a different state? I just don’t understand.  Oh well have a good evening all!❤️

  • Kristel2400

Shoot!! Thank you so much for the PIR marching map ... I hope that I find him!!! It was super helpful.

  • Shanny

I hope Chipmunk and her family are safe and ok!  Crazy!

Excited for all the new SAILORS This week!!!!  Wow time both flies and stand still!  Congratulations everyone!!

  • LadyBluefire

Vintage - my husband would like to thank you for inspiring me to buy personalized Navy ornaments for my sailors, lol. Not cause he thinks they’re cute but - thanks for helping me spend $-  lol

    Hugabugs - BNMH!!!

Troy - sorry for the brain fog and calling you Toby earlier and I was like why is everyone calling you Troy? I guess my brain finally gave in, lol!

    Vintage/Kristel Hope the map helps!

Kristel - if I only had one sailor to see for Christmas going to see them would be a no brainer. We have the possibility of maybe seeing the last 2 so can’t exactly make plans. One child has a 500 mile circle and is 700 miles away and the other has a 150 mile circle and is about 350 miles away..both can go to other states during Christmas so it is not a state thing. And there are no off limit states for one but one can’t take their leave in the state they are in because it is a “red” state. But they can have liberty in that state. It is a mess. I certainly don’t understand it.

The CDC came out with new survival rates so maybe things will change. Under 69 99.5-99.997% and over 70 - 94.6%

I get  the impression they are ok - Chipmunk just does not even want to be on her phone right now.  I hope her home was not damaged...

  • Kristel2400

LBF - WOW!! That’s so rough, no you really can’t make any plans with all of those different restrictions going on! I hope you get to see at least one!!  Good news on the CDC rates and the numbers are surging everywhere again .... it’s hard to stay positive now more than ever but we MUST. ALL OF US.  BNMH!!

  • VintageGal

Ladybluefire- you’re welcome! I have that effect on people lol with holiday stuff and antiques... nothing expensive or anything! Lol

    kristel - you’re welcome DIV sister! :)

    VENTING-
ok we may need the posse to saddle up and a bag ofKatharines apples! Our dear postman retired, who came at noon, and we’ve had a couple since him. :-/ I’ll feel really bad if the post office is understaffed and overwhelmed BUT now our new mailman doesn’t show up until 4:00pm and the other night it wasn’t until 8:00pm. And now today my informed delivery showed my letter from my son and guess what??!! When I went to the mailbox at 6:30pm ONLY JUNK-MAIL! I kid you not he’ll probably swing back around at 9:00pm and drop it off. It’s happened! One day he dropped mail off and left the doors wide open! It’s a large box that holds like 12 slots, a package storage, and outgoing mail doors WIDE OPEN. I tried shutting it but you need a key to lock it. He also left mail in the outgoing mail slot. BREEEEATHE I jumped in my car and went and got him around the corner and told him about it. He’s probably 30 yrs old or so. Again, I don’t know if this guy is overwhelmed and stressed - I’d feel bad if was but DAMN!
    Ok I’m done :-/

chipmunk- I hope everything is ok at your place!

I hope everyone has a peaceful sleep. Good luck to the next set of Divisions!!! My boy included <3 Can’t wait to get the call! :)

  • Shanny

VintageGal:  i am all for rounding up the posse!  I would be all up in the post office telling them to get their crap together and figure it out!  Our post master knows me by name and my son's name for all the times i was up there!

Yes, I should be asleep. But my son, who has been obsessed with the weather and storm chasers, just called again with the latest hurricane updates.

Plus my back is angry. Will probably have to call the doctor. I have some bumps in the middle of the lower back now. I doubt it's anything but shingles are a side effect of my MS meds. And I had my first case of them when I was 33. So don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't get them when you're younger. I really can't see my back. Just feel them. Going to try to sleep until he wakes me with the next update lol we share a love for weather phenomenon

  • VintageGal

Shanny- Thank you! Girl I really hope you get some relief! Your eyes and now your back. I’m so sorry mama!
I’d be right there with you guys and tracking that weather! I watched the movie Twister so many times LOL. Hollywood but ya know what I mean ;) I love to hear of his stories... weather phenomenons, Jam sessions with his bunk mates, leading a landscaping crew, old-gf drama... your boy keeps us entertained!
  • Mellie

Just want to say thank you for all the congrats offered and send them right back to all who have sailors.

Thank you too for the marching map.  Super helpful!

It looks like they were outside for last Thursday's PIR.  Any thoughts about outside or inside for PIR this week.  It seems it will be pretty cold.

I saw there will be pictures to purchase.  Is ordering online the best way to get our sailor picture?

Blessings to all who are battling crazy weather conditions and storms.

  • DsMom2020

Keeping up but too busy to post in last few days....

Chipmunk - I’m sorry for your broken trees but really hoping you are ok and your house wasn’t damaged. I know we are all anxiously awaiting news when you are back posting. You’re in my prayers.

LBF - I can’t imagine having to juggle all the different base rules when trying to plan holidays with you kids. I pray there is someplace in the middle that you can all meet at. We have family in Tennessee and I am hoping our son can travel there from Goose Creek. It may be too far, but will be sooo perfect if we can meet there. His dad and I live in California and I’m sure he won’t be able to come here. I am more than willing to drive 2500+ miles but hope not to. But will be thankful if it is allowed!!

Vintage - I’m sorry for your mail problems. My postal office just rarely actually scans the actual mail. When they go, it’s half of the actual pieces. So every letter was actually a surprise.

Shanny - I don’t think you have shingles (which you really don’t want)! It always follows a nerve pathway on one side or the other (but can wrap around extend to middle of back). But it is not only located in the middle of the back. My doctor (Employer) specializes in a shingles treatment... I’m sorry to hear you are in pain and hope you get some relief soon.

  • DsMom2020

Speaking of weather... I’m in So Cal and the mandatory evacuation zone for the fires stopped a quarter mile from my house! It smells like a campfire inside the house for the last few days. Everyone near us is still evacuated but I’m feeling pretty confident we are safe. Fire seems to be moving away. It’s been a crazy year with all the different weather events. A tornado narrowly missed my nieces house a few months ago - she just moved to Tennessee about a year ago. My sister was evacuated during one of the Oregon fires. We’ve all been so fortunate that they were only near misses. I pray for those that are not so lucky.

  • belovedbyHim

Mellie-- I fell asleep so I'll answer everyone else tomorrow but I wanted to answer your photos question.  The SR's usually purchase them well before PIR.  If you get a chance to speak to him again soon ask him BEFORE you buy any if he did.  You'd be really bummed to spend all that $ only to find out he already ordered some for you.

Chipmunk-- I'm Praying for you and your safety.  Please let us know that you & your house are ok! Ice storms are No JOKE!!!

  • partyofseven

Chipmunk- Hope everything is ok and your house didn't have to much damage. Those ice storms are no joke!! Prayers for you guys!! We've had high winds for the past two days. It was so bad last night it was hard to sleep.

Thanks for posting that cartoon. I loved Baby Blues. That was funny!!!

Kim/Troy- Whoo Hoo A SAILOR in the house that is awesome!! Congratulations to you and your family!!! May God protect him today and every day as he starts this new journey!!!

Shanny- Hope you start to feel better.

VintageGal- Hope you get that letter soon!! I'd be tracking that mail man down!! Lol Seriously I hope you get it today!!!  :)

LBF- Thanks for the update about Chipmunk and for posting that march map. That was pretty neat!!! I'm hoping you get to see some of your Sailors for the holidays!!! I'm working on mine now.  :) We will see!!

DsMom2020-This weather has been crazy. I'm glad that you and your family has been safe thorough out the different weather happenings. Be safe out there. Prayers.

  • kim's husband Troy

    Good morning all!!!

Chipmunk - Prayers for you and your family and hope you are all safe!!

Vintage - The mail situation sounds crazy! Soon you won't have to depend on it as the primary means of communication!

LadyBlue- No apologies necessary, I'm sure I've been called worse LOL.

Ok, let's get ready for more SAILORS today! Hope you are all up for a big day!!!

  • partyofseven

Good Morning Ladies and welcome to all of our new moms,

For our newest moms, please read the links that Phoenixmom has been posting. They have a lot of information in there for you.

Another day closer to PIR. Keep those phones on you at all times and your ringers on loud. May letters come today as well.

Hopefully we get I'm a Sailor calls to.

Anti M- Thanks for posting the latest.

Chipmunk- Keep us posted when you can. Prayers for you and your family.

Good Morning to all the other ladies.

  • partyofseven

    Romans 5:3

  • VintageGal

    Good morning ladies and gentlemen,

Operating with my coffee and breakfast and burning my blue candle :)
    Partyofseven - amen! That’s a wonderful verse!

well what do you know! he swung back around and put it in the mailbox sometime in the night because I ran out there this morning in my robe and pajamas and lo and behold it was delivered! He sounds great he said “I have really long days and a lot of responsibilities ...wink...” I know what that means! He said he was only 10 points, which is about two bullets off, of being a sharpshooter so he got a marksman. He said he got 12 minutes on his run. He sounds great and tired. It was so great to hear from him!

all right let the day begin! I’ve got my phone glued to me and my ringer on high!

Have a wonderful day everyone and I’ll be checking back shortly!

  • LadyBluefire

    Morning everyone!

Shanny - goodness - I hope you start to feel better soon!

Vintage - even inexpensive can get expensive when you multiply it by 4, lol. I had to pay more for my daughter’s but not too much more. I got the last one off of Etsy.. Dare I guess your son is RPOC? Yep for live fire a bullet is 5 points. So awesome he sounds good, he’s “soclose”!

Just WOW on the mailman. I have a good mailman but some of my Amazon delivery guys like to block my screen door with heavy packages (just heavy enough we can’t open the door).  On the outside - so we have to walk from the back door to the front to get it. How hard is it to open the door and put it ON the porch? LOL.

Hoping for that sailor call today! Hooyah!!!

Mellie - they will even do PIR in the rain (according to the hubby) so the cold will not deter them. There is no room for inside - they converted the graduation hall for bunks. Which is funny (not) because in the beginning of all this mess when they stopped doing the PIR I thought why don’t they do outside PIR and the answer was “we don’t have room for outside PIR”.

Dsmom - I think even if the 2 1st sailors went towards each other their leave circles would still not touch. It is odd saying leave circle because leave is leave and personal time and never before has there been a distance limitation on it. With the CDC showing the IFR is less than the flu (by half) I hope things change soon cause the Navy (at boot camp anyway) doesn't give 2 hoots about the flu running rampant (which it was in Feb). But it is too late for one of my kids to request the time off. My next one to go to the fleet will be heading to CA next month so I do not expect to see him at Christmas.

Glad to hear the fires are moving away! This HAS been a crazy year for sure!

Party - yes I hope to see one of my sailors before this year is out.  I hope you get to see yours!

Well, I got things to do, my hair appt sneaked (I want to say snuck) up on me and I have to get some stuff done. I usually have crockpot meals on my hair appt days as my kid has youth same day of the week but I forgot soooo I have to get as much prepped so I don't cause him to be late - he has a costume party at church and he is going as a future sailor but wearing NWUs, lol. He already has his sob story out so he will win the contest! ;)

  • VintageGal

Dsmom- I’m glad that you were safe from the fires. I hope that you and your loved ones remain safe and that they die down and get them under control. We had so much smoke from them it looked as though we were going to have a zombie apocalypse outside - it was pretty eerie!

good morning Kim/Troy! Waiting patiently for the from my boy!

Belovedbyhim - good morning, I finished Before We Were Yours. oh my goodness that book was so good and heartbreaking! I looked up the woman Georgia town that was in charge of the Tennessee children’s house. She was a narcissistic demon woman.
I was so happy that it ended the way it did. that cottage that they shared sounded magical :) I started Where the crawdads sing and I’m already hooked! My mom’s been telling me to read this so I was able to check it out on OverDrive with an e-book copy.

OK time to get ready for work- talk to you all soon! <3

  • VintageGal

Ladybluefire- those ornaments sound wonderful!  I’d love to see one when you get it! Oh my gosh your son sounds hilarious! He has a sob story lol oh my gosh Lol I'd love an update on how this goes. ;-) enjoy your day! Sounds like a busy one! I think I might just do a crockpot as well :)

  • LadyBluefire

Vintage -  I meant to share a photo in my post.

    Navy Boy

    Navy Girl

I think I bought the last Navy girl on the internet!
