Hi PartyofSeven the kids will be so excited, I'm excited! Just Love doing things like this. My Grandson played his first football game for Cesar Chavez High School freshman's against South High school Varsity and the Freshman's won! He texted me last Night we Won Nana! We Won!  So excited for him! Of course no one could attend the game but it was live streamed on Facebook. very Exciting!

  • Velvetenor

Whoa, its so hard keeping up with this group!

Kristel2400 & VintageGal - Congratulations on your new Salors!! Bravo Zulu! So exciting that we had SO MANY new sailors this week so far - I think I got 5, is that right?

C'sMom - I am glad that you were able to post and vent your feelings about your SR's situation in ROM. All the ladies said it already, but we are here for you to share in all your ups and downs as you are in your Navy Mom journey. Most of your other friends and family may not "get it", but we will! <3 BNMHs to you!

Shanny - My goodness! I hope it is not shingles!! Feel better soon!

Phoenixmom - Hi! Hope you are feeling better, too!!

DsMom - Oh yes, my husband has the most INCREDIBLE timing of when he takes a break from his work and comes downstairs to my office and ASSUMES (incorrectly) that I will just stop whatever I am doing and have a conversation with him about whatever is on his mind! LOL! I am either working or reading/replying to the posts here, so having to stop in the middle and give him attention is more than a little annoying...

  • belovedbyHim

Mellie—It’s not exactly a Live “Live stream”  You have to wait till Friday to see the video.

C'sMom—{{{{{BNMH}}}}} I know it so hard!! It’s your baby even if the Navy has him now!!  One day you will think back on this and it will all seem like so long ago and a bit like a dream!

Katharine—HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA “Hyaluronic acid may temporarily reverse some of the side effects of boot camp (and Lady Clairol)” HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

LadyBluefire—HAHAHA!! 50-60’s with teens to 20% humidity( or less)  and bright sunshine is Actually quite pleasant!  A sweater/sweatshirt or light jacket and you are good to go!!  I know teens who wear short and flip flops all year long…. Actually I prefer 70’s and 80’s but mostly I hate being super cold!

Shanny—YEAH!!!!! So glad you are feeling better!!

I’m off to check on my aunt so I may or may not get to answer the rest of today’s posts!! Just one more sleep till we get to see the Newest Sailors March!!! (Hopefully phone calls are coming soonthereafter as they move to A schools!!

The cases in my area went from 62 to 129 in one week which cause one of our metrics on our scale to turn red. Based on the survey that our admins sent out the majority of staff feels better teaching remotely rather than our hybrid model.

So we are now going back to remote learning until after Xmas break. I have no idea how this is going to turn out. Prayers are always encouraged and welcomed.

I am not sure how I feel about this right now. It is sad to think that we only made it two weeks before it became unsafe. I am thankful that our admins have this plan into place so we are not scrambling and running around trying to figure out what to do. In that regard we are good but as a teacher I feel for my students and will miss not seeing them in person every day!!!

I know I say this all the time but ladies and gent please please be safe and healthy out there.

God, please protect us as we go thru these uncharted waters and protect us and cover us as we go about our daily day.

    In Jesus's name we pray!!!

    Amen!!!!

  • Phoenixmom

Hi Vevetenor, I have been feeling Great! I have taken care of everything pertaining to me and just focusing  on the rest for me to do, Health wise I am good watching what I eat not eating to much keeping the tummy healthy and just working! Thank you for asking!

  • Phoenixmom

Yes, PartyofSeven numbers have been getting high again, It's just people are refusing to be cooped up inside kids are getting bored and nothing we really can do. It has been horrible. I can imagine what this is doing to the kids who are not really learning from this online. I know I am looking to keep my Grandson back because of this, no way can I allow him to be pushed to another grade when he really hasn't learned much. I know its hard on everyone, but I have to make that call and from what I've been reading they are saying its going to be like this up until 2022. I am having to start working from home middle of dec. its horrible.....Praying for this pandemic to go away! and also for the safety for all. I know that I have had friends whose children have passed due to covid one had two sons one week one then the next week the other it has been devastating!

C'smom- I hope you always feel comfortable coming here and telling us whats on your mind. This is definitely the place where we all understand what you're going through. So I can tell you that my son's second letter from ROM was a lot more upbeat than his letter on the first day. I really hope that they test your son and send him back, at least by the weekend. You'd think that they'd do that by now.

So I can show you how I made my collage, if you'd like, to get in as many pictures in as possible.

MaterNauta and Velvetenor- Thanks for the well wishes!

Ladybluefire - Yay that he won the costume contest! And thank you I'm definitely staying with the Navy mom Posse!

I can't remember but besides the preview of the order form that our Sailors order from is there somewhere where we can see what the items look like? I was looking at the form and trying to see what he would've bought for $300. He knows his momma loves coffee mugs and ornaments so I wouldn't be surprised if he ordered those. :) I'll let you know!

Dsmom - Hi! Thank you! My son is in DIV 424 and may just be the RPOC! He hints at his extra trainings and responsibilities but won't say for certain.

Katharine -Thanks for the PIR advice! I can't wait! I'll have to try the Hydraulic acid as well as touching up my grays. My new color has already grown out about an 1 1/2! gaaahhhh

Shanny - I'm so glad that you finally got a good nights sleep!

Pheonixmom - Your Halloween extravaganza sounds wonderful! You have a beautiful family and a grandson who is LOVED! :) You sound like the best grammy ever!!  When you said tamales it instantly reminded me of my grammy. She used to buy a bundle every Christmas for each of our families. Her mother would make them every Christmas as well. This will be our first Christmas without her so I will definitely be adding them to our dinner.  Oh my goodness I jumped right on the RTC facebook page to look at those capping pictures but unfortunately didn't see my son. It was incredible seeing those pictures just the same! Thank you! <3

That is beyond devastating to hear of your friend losing a child to covid!! How sad :(

My son just now called! It was crazy seeing Waukegan, IL pop up on my phone again so soon! He said "Mom, will you transfer $300 to my BofA account so I can purchase these pictures? I can't access my AF account yet." :)

Ok Ladies! One day closer to the PIR video!

  • Shanny

C'sMom2020:  PLEASE always feel comfortable coming here to vent. I am hoping they can slide your SR into a division that would put him back at 5 days from PIR so he can just do his final PFA and BS.  I hope they don't make him repeat a full 2 weeks. I think we are all angry and frustrated for you and your SR. But please know we are all here for you.

  • VintageGal

Katharine- OK so I meant to say hyaluronic acid and one and a half inches that my hair has grown out lol both of which I know you know but I had to fix it!

  • LadyBluefire

Just swinging by to give a Chipmunk update.

She only has internet when not home so only when running an errand so she feels bad she can't check on everyone.

They have candles burning and using a lot of hot water. Clouds are leaving which helps warm her sun room BUT means colder temps at night.  She feels like she is camping but NOT.

She is extra worried about you hugabugs...

  • VintageGal

Thanks LadyBlueFire! Tell her we said TAKE CARE!!

oh you know how my son loves to leave me in suspense? last night I realized there was a Halls cough drop wrapper in the SB envelope! He wrote “ This wrapper means more than what you think” what??! LOL We’ll see! Anyone have any ideas?

  • Phoenixmom

Hi VintageGal, Me and my Grandkids get along so well. They are always wanting me over and to spend the night, we bake together and all. Tamale time is coming around the corner, I just so happened to have a few doz. left over from last year. They stay good for a long time. I don't cook mine only when we eat them so they remain good. My Daughter was like mom you still have some, of course I do. we make a lot at a time and we do both the green chili and cheese and beef and pork red chili ones. Last year we made like 40 doz. of the red and 32 of the green. so we half them between the both of us. the green chili ones are fast and easy it the husk that takes awhile because you have to clean them good and soak them then dry them. the rest is easy. but too much for one person to do alone we so have a tamale party every time and the Grandkids also help so its a tradition! Glad you were able to speak to your Son and that he is ok!

  • Phoenixmom

Thank You LadyBluefire on the update on Mrs. chipmunk. let her know always thinking of her!

  • Phoenixmom

C'sMom2020 Please know we are always here for you, to chat or to vent. and If there is anything we can do let us know. We all stick together here. Hoping all is ok!

  • partyofseven

Thanks LadyblueFire for the update. I sent a message out to our friend. :)

  • hugabugs

Still no news from my SR. Very discouraged.

  • hugabugs

    Thanks LadyblueFire and chipmunk.

  • VintageGal

Hugabugs- what is your SRs DIV? I believe there was another mom who didn’t get the call because BST was so late and then he called later in the day or the next day. I hope it comes soon <3

  • C'sMom

Hugabugs: praying you get good news soon!

You, know?  I go through here and read everything.  And i plan a comment,  but then I keep reading and forget what I was going to comment on.  Please know that I keep track of everythjng and keep you in my thoughts and prayers.  I just may not respond to everything.

VintageGal!  I keep thinking of you because you and your SR have already gone through what I and my SR are going through!  And you have a sailor now!  I know well get there.  I told my SR today in a letter that this will become a blip in time.  He will be a sailor and will have moved on.  I'm not sure if he's at a place to believe me yet or not.

  • VintageGal

C’smom- “Blip in time” is a phrase that I have used many times in life trying to put things in perspective. That’s funny :) the silver lining that I’d like to put out there is that he’s around his friends that he was closest to in his DIV. My son said that it was his saving grace to be with his buddies. That’s what really got him through it. That and our letters. I printed up pictures on paper, lyrics to favorite songs with pictures, whatever I could that would put a smile on his face. :) I would try to get any friends back home to SB him as well but tell them to write like anybody could read it. (Disregard if I’m repeating myself) (((((BNMH)))))
I bet our boys will meet in A-school soon enough :)
  • Mellie

C's mom.  I vented to my whole family about my SR's 2 ROMS.  One was 11 days from PIR 9/11 and then he got out for 3 days where he was split from all his division buddies (they all stayed together) and then poof; back in the ring of fire.  When he finally got out of the second ROM, technically he had 5 days left if you're counting days; but, they thought better; he got another 4 weeks.  He was devastated!  However, he/we made it through the storm and today he did his PIR.  (PRAISE GOD AND HALLELUJAH)  I still won't believe it until I see his sweet face, I mean eyeballs tomorrow.

You are not a belly acher.  I think boot camp is hard for all SRs.  Then you tack on ROM and masks and it's downright cra cra.

Finding these wonderful Navy Moms has been a saving grace - so much wisdom, info, love and support.

Now, hurry up 5:00 Friday and get here!

  • DsMom2020

Mellie - congratulations on your Sailor and your stamina! I hope you get a REALLY good look at your son’s eyeballs, and knuckles!  You deserve it.

CsMom - I hope your SR does not get an extra 4 weeks!! I agree about this being a blip in time, but boy, I’m sure it feels like eons when you’re going through it.

  • Shanny

Online schooling Friday. And here I am...  helping my nieces and I am getting irritated for her. She doesn’t even have a textbook for this class. Just horrible photocopies that you can barely read

hope everyone got their sailor calls!  PIR available today!  Keep watching for it around 4:00 pm central!!  I hope all of you can see your sailors in the video!!!  Hope it’s a great day!

  • C'sMom

VintageGal:  I out thenrosd out at church and to his friends to send letters and I told them to put "In ROM.  Please forward."  I'm really hoping he's getting all these letters.  I'm trying not to feel jealous!  Lol  we got one letter from him in this second ROM.  I checked informed delivery, and no letter today.  I so want to get an idea how he's doing spiritually, mentally, and emotionally now.  He has a special friend (it's a girl).  They have been buddies, nothing more, since they were 4.  She texted me yesterday and has gotten TWO letters from him in this second ROM.  I asked her how he sounded in the second letter, and she said still upset.  I'm starting to get irritated with him.  Lol  Feeling sorry for himself is not going to help.  He needs to move on and look forward.  Others have had it worse, case in point--Mellie and her SR.

Mellie, I feel so bad for you!  That really stinks!  How was his attitude and state of mind through all that!  So happy for you that he made it and graduated!  Congratulations!

D'sMom, I hope he doesn't get another 4 weeks, too!  I don't understand why that would happen.  Mellie, did you ever hear a reason for that?

VintageGal, didn't your SR get his PIR scheduled out farther than you expected also?

  • C'sMom

    Oops!  Didn't proofread well enough.

VintageGal: *I put the word out*

  • Chipmunk

Good Morning Everyone!! We have power!! Yeah!! But we still have over 205,000 customers without power and crews are coming from neighboring states to help! I am still thankful that this is all we are dealing with as well as our damaged trees, and some home damage. I think we are okay, my husband will need to survey this weekend.

I have to deal with things on the home front and I have not caught up on the posts. I think I missed a shout out to Vintage Gal - WooHoo, and not sure who all. I have been thinking about you and praying for those who are still waiting for phone calls!

I appreciate all the help from Partyofseven and LadyBluefire!

Hugs to all - Shanny - yes some of this online stuff is really hard. My son commented that they were doing online schooling since the schools were closed due to power outages, but many of the kids were at homes with no power!!

  • LadyBluefire

Csmom - the memory of RTC fades pretty quickly at A school. :)

The link to the video premiering later is up on RTC FB page and the text was too funny not to share!

Please Note: In the battle of covers vs the windy city, the windy city clearly won this battle.  But fret not, all wayward covers were returned to their rightful Sailor!”

Speaking of FB - I saw a recruit who has been there since March 23 - I sure hope he is part of the PIR this week! One poor girl dealt with 5 ROMs and is now being sepped due to depression. They really need to reevaluate how they deal with this virus that is less deadly than the freaking flu! Damage to their mental health is more likely than this virus harming them.

Shanny  - -uggh in this day and age there is no excuse for horrible photocopies! They need to put those images on a sharing site and link the children to them!

Chip - glad you have power back and you’re welcome!

    Phoenixmom- hope you are well!

Mellie -  here is hoping you can pick out your kids eyes, brow bone, adam’s apple (it is a son?, I can’t recall, lol)

Hugabugs - hoping you see your sailor in the photos/march! I understand - it is like when you text them and they don’t respond you have all these awful images in your head because you don;t know what is going on! When my #3 PIR (and his div did NOT march) and then I heard nothing for a week all sorts of images went thru my head. What was he actually doing? Pizza and movies and grabbing coffee at the NEX and chilling with his buddies!!!

    Good Morning everyone else.

  • LadyBluefire

BBH - I am a between 74 and 77 girl as far as temps go, lol. But prefer low humidity. How is your aunt?

Oh, those waiting on photos, sign up for delivery manager with FedEx and then go into your profile and add your sailor’s name as a “nickname” - I noticed mine put his name as the recipient so FedEx manager would not work without me adding his as a nickname. Stuff for my hubby only shows in his and vice versa for me.

  • Shanny

LadyBluefire:  I also read about the girl with 5 ROMs. I wanted to cry for her. Who wouldn’t be depressed after that?!! At some point they need to figure out a way to distance these kids. (Sorry young adults).  Is there a point in time when they just offer to let them leave and enlist again later?!?  Because this is ridiculous. I am sorry but if someone has been there since March, they should have found a way by now to get them through. Whether it was just segregating them with 2 or 3 others except when absolutely necessary or whatever. Something!  Anything!

  • Phoenixmom

Good Morning All Happy FRIDAY! YAY! we made it through another week and another PIR! HOOYAH!

Ugh! had a Hard time getting out of bed this morning just dragging today, have a full schedule all weekend Hoping Sunday I can rest! Daughter wants Abondigas, ( Meatball soup) Sunday for dinner so I can do that. Taking Hubby's truck for Emmission's during Lunch today and then to grocery's. what a full day. Hoping all is well with everyone.

Chipmunk so glad things are coming together for you and family, Thank You for the update! And Thank you and the rest of the Ladies for all that you all do to make this site what it is today! sending much Love to you! and to all on this site! this Covid and BC has been a struggle, just hang on Ladies things will get better.

    Have an AWESOME day all!

  • Phoenixmom

Mrs. PartyofSeven's scripture of the day:

  • Anti M

Chipmunk, glad you have your power back on.  I know how miserable that is!

The ROMs are tough, but one of the few strategies to use with large groups which must be in close spaces.  The masks help, but it is a multi-faceted strategy.  The Navy is doing what they can with the tools they are given, although it is far from perfect.  I disagree about comparing the virus to a flu, strenuously.  Seriously, 220,000 confirmed covid deaths (tested + for covid) in less than one year and the cases spike is still trending upward, vs. the CDC estimated 29,000 to 69,000 flu deaths each year.  Sure, less deadly.  And the flu doesn't leave survivors with ongoing symptoms such as heart damage.  Young people contract this as well as the old or at risk, our sailors are not immune, look at the Roosevelt!

  • Phoenixmom

    Morning Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know that there are many dangers and difficulties in life that combine to ship-wreck my faith in You. I desire to love You more, to know You better, to keep the Lord Jesus as the center of my life and to grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus. Give me the wisdom to discern what is not from You and ears to hear the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and in Your mercy, keep me under the shadow of Your protection, in Jesus' name I pray. AMEN

  • Phoenixmom

Good Morning Anti M thank you for your message. It is very scary to know the TR is trying to keep the Carrier safe but as a Mother and Having my Son on that Carrier it is worrisome. He also is very stressed, as not to long ago a young man not even in a year took his life on the carrier and now dealing with Covid once again. It is definitely putting a strain on our Sailors. My heart breaks for this young Lady, and cant help but to think what is going on in her mind at this point....Prayers for this young Lady and her family! Hoping that she can succeed in her mission!

  • LadyBluefire

Shanny - I think that girl with 5 ROMs is wanting to try again. Such bravery!

Per CDC-  IFR for Sars-Cov 2 (not COVID-19) - ranges from 0.0003% to 0.054% - Flu is at 0.1% - a number shoved down our throats when they were telling us that Sars-Cov-2 was 0.26-0.3%

One middle aged (maybe 2) Navy Sailors died with "COVID-19".

    Reality vs Media...

  • VintageGal

C’smom - good morning, maybe you can ask your son’s friend if there’s nothing too personal in it if she can snapshot a picture of the letter for you so at least you can read how he’s doing. I know she may have told you but I’m sure it be better to read it yourself if you could. Yes my son was supposed to have two weeks left and they added on an extra week so he could’ve had graduation last Thursday. I never found out why but that’s what it was. I really hope he is doing better than he’s what he’s conveying to his friend. Hugs and prayers to your boy.

  • VintageGal

Chipmunk- thank you! I can tell you there was something missing that day we were celebrating and you weren’t around to celebrate with us! Your absence has been missed!

pheonixmom- Abondigas soup? It will only take me a while to get down to Phoenix but I’m on my way! Lol save me a bowl!

Amen. Thank you for the prayer. I hope your Sailor stays safe and healthy on the carrier <3

Good Morning everyone! The RTC YouTube page says 2:00 PM! I don’t know if that’s Pacific my time or if that’s central time but I am awaitin! I’m also on edge with the Facebook page and the pictures let’s go!

Our winds got up to 24 mph yesterday, but that, and many lost covers, couldn't stop our recruits from marching on to the next phase of their Navy careers.
Congratulations to the newest and sharpest Sailors in the U.S. Navy who graduated October 9th. Divisions 415, 416, 417, 418, 419, 420, 421, 422, 423, 424, 425, 426, 427, and 428 are the graduating divisions in this training group. Well done Sailors!
