Shanny - I replied to your PM - sorry for the delay!!

  • VintageGal

    Good morning ladies,

    Welcome Amy_jo and Adrian,

Welcome! we’re glad you’re here. Please feel free to ask questions and say what’s on your mind at any time. The admin and Navy mom veterans have a lot of information to give. My son just graduated BC a month ago and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to be during this journey. There’s quite a few of us whose sailors have been out of Boot Camp, even for a couple of months now, who stick around because we love the camaraderie and enjoy welcoming new moms. We know how tough this time can be on our mama hearts. Talk about a roller coaster! I felt like the more I knew, studied, and watched videos of their experiences, the more comfort I felt. I hope that you find comfort in that as well.

    (((((BNMH))))) Big Navy Mom Hugs

Ladybluefire ~ I hope your headache subsides and you can have a good day. Thanks for the information about the jack box TV game I will be looking into that! When you’re feeling better you’ll have to let us know about your crockpot meal that you’re making the ingredients sound tasty. :)

Chipmunk ~ I haven’t listen to “Jesus freak” in so long. I used to listen to it in middle school! One chocolate raspberry swirl coming right up! My husband had Keylime pie and I had the Linda‘s fudge cake.

Shanny ~ Good morning, enjoy your day with your sailor! BNMH! I hope that face wash and lotion works for him. We really like it.

Partyofseven ~ Good morning, when I said party of seven it wrote party at seven so I guess I’m coming to your place for a party this evening. what can I bring?! Thank you for the verse <3 enjoy the day

Doribry, Mamacita, proud and grateful ~ We can’t wait to hear when you get letters! Informed delivery is so much better than anxiously anticipating the mailman’s arrival! Enjoy checking out the RTC Facebook page for the chance to get a glimpse at your SR bootcamp :)

Phoenixmom ~ I hope you had a great weekend I can’t hear wait to hear all about it!

Good morning to all :) have a wonderful Monday!

  • VintageGal

C’smom ~ good morning, well you know that my son was there FOREVER. I pray that he’s put on the next flight out! It happened so quickly once they’re told. My son was told the day before he left. I hope it’s soon and that he is able to come home for Christmas.

  • Chipmunk

VintageGal - I will take KeyLime pie as well.

C'sMom - I don't know what to tell you - this is so frustrating I know both for your sailor and for you - especially with the hopes of a holiday visit. - I do know that there are sailors who have been in THU for over a month - at least as I recall hearing comments in our Nuke Moms group. He just needs to stay persistent and do everything on his end to make sure the records are being dealt with.

Well I did get more Cabinets put in so I cleaned the bedrooms up and down  washed all the linens cleaned my room as well as my Eyes started bothering me with all the dust. I stayed with son in law and he laughed...….He told me she is crazy ! Don't have to tell me! We also went to decorate my Hubby's Plot along with my Mom and little Brother. They came out so nice! still have some things to put down but it can wait until Sunday.

    Mornings Prayer:

Dear heavenly Father, God I ask you to give us peace. I ask that you give all our minds peace. Right now I have one thousand things swirling in my head. I struggle to focus and I constantly feel overwhelmed. Please remove the storm raging inside my head so I can relax, focus, and do work that matters. Help me to keep first things first. In Your Name I Pray, Amen.

Here are some sites for the ones who are beginning

First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition

    Informed Delivery®

  • Northwoodsmom

C'smom, it use to be so much easier on the mom's before Covid, they would ship out immediately. I heard that the enlistment numbers are so high now because when the college's went to visual learning alot of those students joined the Navy because they felt like they weren't getting the education they paid for. That is probably one of the reasons everything is so bottled up right now.  Prayers your son gets moved pretty soon and you get him home like Shanny did.

  • Phoenixmom

Shanny Your Son Is HOME! OMG! WHOOOOOO HOOOOOO! what a Nice surprise! I can't believe it! Enjoy girl! tell him I said Hello!

  • Anti M

Morning all.  Chilly here, but clear.

Chipmunk, I'm just being quiet.  Coughing less, so that's a plus.  I dragged out my holiday bins, but the trees are still in the shed.  I'm just not sure how much energy I want to put into decorating.  I have red wooden beads and velvet bows, and heaps of silk flowers.  I have three trees in the shed, but usually only use the small hall tree.  Not even sure I want to drag that down from the loft in the shed.  With kittens, it's probably best I just take it easy.  Silk poinsettias for sure, and lights in the front window.

The site is acting up for me too.  I know it isn't me, because all my streaming sites are alright, but this is clunky here.

  • Chipmunk

Anti M - There is nothing wrong with taking things easy. Some years I end up decorating more for the holidays than I do at other times. A lot has to do with how much is on my plate otherwise. I found Christmas trees on sale a a local discount store last week. So for $10 I have a new simple 6 ft tree that will go up in my daughter's old room because that is where I can set it up. I am excited because I have not had a full tree up at my house for a few years now - due to a lot of other furniture inheritances and no place to put it. I bought one for my daughter as well because their cat destroyed their tree last year. But for $10 I could get them a new one.

BTW - I logged in from clicking on my email feed and it went wonky again. I don't know if this is going to post tiny or not. But if I just logged in directly, I wasn't having problems this morning.

  • Phoenixmom

Hi Mrs. Anti M, Take it easy, as long as you have up some lights and all that's all that matters. I will not be decorating my outside this year but will be decorating my Inside. Been to busy and not gonna stress on it.

  • Phoenixmom

Well just got a call from my Bud, He's Getting ready to leave out to Sea! Ugh! My heart aches every time. Just to think he will be out there for a Long time.

Heavenly Father, I pray that You will be the ultimate guide for sailors at sea. I declare stillness over the atmosphere and I pray against hazardous weather conditions, so that they can be brought safely to harbor. I praise You Lord for Your great love and for the wonderful things You have done and will continue to do for them! Thank You in advance for their safe journey in Jesus Name, Amen

  • warriorprotector

OK, fourth time is the charm. I seem to have problems getting any comments to post.

Hi ladies, I'm new to this platform and I seem to have issues navigating around here. Can't get comments to post, can only occasionally like or thank someone.  Thanks Phoenixmom for posting Jan 2021 PIR dates, think my son will be toward the end of the month since he left 11-18 (barring extra ROM time).  Love all the info on here and hope I can finally get plugged in!

  • Phoenixmom

WarriorProterctor Looks like you did great by Posting on here. If you scroll up and to the right we have different sites that you can read on or if thee is anything we can do to help just let us know. Welcome Again!

  • warriorprotector

Excited, looks like my post was added.  I'm sure I'm not alone with the difficulty of decorating for Christmas and listening to Christmas music without crying!  UGH!  I though I had this in the bag since this is my second son joining the military, NOPE! My daughter, sweet girl, kept hugging me and telling me it was going to be alright. Blessed with very considerate husband and daughter!  Have a blessed day!  Love the prayer phoenixmom.

  • partyofseven

Good Morning Anti M- I'm glad your starting to feel better. Don't worry about how much decorating you should do, just do what you can and it will be ok. Keep staying warm and taking it easy.  :)

They must have done an update to our site as the writing on the comments are different than they were this morning. :)

Phoenixmom- Good Morning, The weekend sounded great. I love Home Goods. I can't wait to see how everything turns out and bless your daughter for doing all that. She is spoiling you. :)

I am glad you heard from Bud, prayers for him as he starts another underway.

warriorprotector- Good Morning, It's good to see you on here and welcome again. I'm not sure what's going on unless they are trying to do an update.

But I can see this post so I hope you can read my comment.

  • Phoenixmom

If anyone is Interested you can go to San Diego web cam and see the ships leave. didn't know if anyone knew.

  • Shanny

Warriorprotector:  Welcome to the group!!!  Happy to have you here!!!  Christmas was bad for me. My sailor was supposed to come home on leave so I get excited and started making plans for him to come. Then his leave was denied so I got angry and decided to not do anything. Then Saturday, he showed up at the door!  And I decorated nothing. He got his orders changed and decided to surprise me instead. Still haven’t decorated anything.

partyofseven:. I thought I was on the wrong page because the format was different when I just opened it!!  Crap I have to go help the kid who lost his cell phone between his huge captains bed frame and the wall lol he said my hand are much smaller maybe I can reach it. Nice to be needed lol

  • Phoenixmom

Hi PartyofSeven it's more that an underway this time. Looking at the webcam in San diego as some ships are getting ready to leave. My Bud, he didn't say much just that He is leaving Now. Hurts my Heart.

WarriorProtector Thank you, so glad that you are here with us! You will be fine, It will be a roller Coaster full of Emotions but that is gonna be all the time. as I watch these ships leave cant help but to have tears in my eyes!

  • VintageGal

Warriorprotector ~ Hello! Welcome to the Boot Camp group! We are so excited to be here for you through this time. My son graduated a month ago and I do believe I experienced just about anything you can where it involves a "2020 Boot Camp experience". Please feel free to ask any and all questions that you have. Also, if you want us to celebrate with you or you just really need to vent... we're here for you! BNMH ~ Big Navy Mom Hugs!

Shanny ~ feels good to be needed by your boy doesn't it?! :) My browser looks different today as well.

Phoenixmom ~ We all send our love and prayers to your sweet Bud. I pray for his safety and happiness. We wish him all the best!

We always miss you over the weekend as well. I knew you going to be so shocked and overjoyed for Shanny when you came back :) It sounds like your children love to take care of their mama. What fun day at homegoods! I love that store! We can't wait for pictures of the big makeover reveal! :)

Anti M ~ Hello :) Glad you're feeling a bit better. My husband also has one of those nagging coughs that just doesn't want to go away. It's nice that it's finally starting to calm down. Well it sounds like the decorations that you do have up are quite pretty. I hope you've gotten some good rest.

  • Phoenixmom

Good Afternoon Mrs. VintageGal, Oh Yes My Kids are good to me I can complain, I really have it good. I just need to be really Thankful. we all have had our share of heartbreak, but we always pull together for each other. My Countertops are being put in as I sit here at work. I have someone at home watching them so I know it will come out great! Just hoping that this weekend I can finish up my cleaning so I get to painting the walls and Put all my stuff back in Place. LOL! Thank You for the Prayers for My Son! Just cant stop watching the Web cam, another getting ready to Sail! You can see the boys getting ready on the Carrier. My tears are just streaming down my face. LOL!

  • partyofseven

Phoenixmom- I got it on. I am sending you great big hugs and I know it's hard. It's good thou that we can watch the web cam and try to keep up a little that way.

That is great about the countertops. Can't wait to see everything.  :)

That's is ok about your kids that's what families do for each other.

Shanny- Right? I noticed it after getting to work. I was like wait a minute it's different. Lol

Yes it is good when our kids need our help.  :)

Hey VintageGal, Hope hubby's cough goes away.

  • Northwoodsmom

Good afternoon Ladies. Just missing my Sailor. I know alot of you new Moms are too and just wanted you to know you are in our hearts and prayers. You will get stronger but it doesn't get easier. I hear mom's on here who's Sailors have been in 6+ years and they still lay their heads on tear drenched pillows at night, especially around the holidays. That is why it is so important we hold each other up, the rest of the world could never understand but we do. Hang in there, we gotcha.

  • Phoenixmom

I'm with you on that NorthWoodsMom I just finished crying my head out as I watched my Son Sail out with other Mom's Sailors. Posted a Pic but waiting for it to be approved.

  • VintageGal

PhoenixMom, partyofseven, Northwoodsmom ~ i’m only at the beginning of this journey and it is already been so hard on my mama heart. My love goes out to all of you who’s sailors are going out to sea and with all of the feelings that it brings. I’m so glad we have each other to lean on. Here come the tears! BNMH BIGGER THAN EVER BEFORE <3 why couldn’t they have just stayed a little forever
  • Phoenixmom

Thanks VintageGal I'm smiling and crying at the same time LOL! It's just hard I know my Son will be ok as will all the other Sailors, it's just the thought of it that bothers me! My Son tells me you Cant feel nothing on the Carrier, they hit a whale and he said you could feel that but as far as the weather and bad storms not really. There is a big report when a whale is hit. Not many times does it happen he said. But its so cute because his God Mothers Grandkids call him Aquaman! HAHAHAHAHA! and they always have so many questions about the sharks and whales and Mermaids. LOL!

  • partyofseven

VintageGal- Exactly!! Northwoodsmom- you hit it right on the nose!!

Prayers and big Navy Hugs for all of us moms!!!

  • VintageGal

Phoenixmom ~ Awwwee :) They call him Aquaman. That is the cutest thing ever <3 Our sailors are our heroes.

Again and again BNMH to all of you!

  • NewMilmom

Wow!  Lots to catch up on today.  I am in the No decorating camp this year…I like to get rid of accumulated stuff & clean Before pulling out the massive holiday bins & this year didn’t see me getting it done… Actually since March Not much but existing is getting done.  Sad but true.  This weekend I was Mrs. Claus (1st time) in a small town tree lighting ceremony. No, I don’t live in the town but, I am friends with several in their Chamber of Commerce & spent many days there as most of my riding (read just about all) friends live there.  For years I spent more time there than at home with my horse at friends there too.

I have my horse headed back up to live there again towards end of month to live again with friends so once again I will be up there more than down here…dh is like the car is old now with a ton of miles on it & he’s worried about me making it up the hill there & back regularly again…no $ to replace so I will just “baby it” up & back…

We did the whole masks co-vid precautions thing of course.  Funny but I told my dh & middle daughter that all the volunteers are the same for that plus the 2 local Rodeo’s…we are small in numbers & getting smaller as many leaving to other states these past few years with a mass exodus this year of friends.

Sunday spent day cleaning elderly neighbor’s backyard from the damage and mess the high winds made last week.  She lost her husband a few months back & her dd & her son-n-law do not come by to help or anything.  She came to me in tears over the mess & having worked all day back there & not able to do it.

I spent all Sunday straight working until just about supper time… And it is still not entirely done.  She really needs someone to come in 1x a week to help her but, she is not going to do that.  I am sore sore sore!!! And my hands all cut up and torn apart but, I feel good that I was able to help her a bit.  Now mind you my yard needs major work too so I am not done by a long shot.   Love my pine trees but, not so much the needles & pine cones mess.

C’s Mom:  I love your ornament.  I ordered with his name, ship/div. & pir date with the “No News is Good News”  under it…  It is for Momma as dd & hubby will just roll their eyes & say Momma is obsessed/crazy etc…hahahaha!!   But I KNOW dh will be wearing the Navy Dad tee shirt I ordered him none the less …

Oh my stars! I can’t believe that your poor sailor is still sitting in RTC THU. Praying it changes & can ship to A school SOON.  There again will be hurry up & wait loop…that’s where mine is at with no idea if/when he can start classes.  But better than sitting at RTC THU although, I gather the food at RTC a bit better than A school…rofl…

  • NewMilmom

MommaChelle- Welcome!!  Love this group & I am sure you will too.

ROFL… on being hungry after reading posts/recipes galore.  Yep, finding where I left off hardest part when I joined…so my trick now is to go back several pages (or more depending on how much came in since last I was on) & find the last 1 I remember reading and then read up the page from that and count down pages backwards… ie. If I last read page 15 I’ll start at the bottom & read up then proceed to page 14 and read bottom up and so on and so forth.  Hope this makes a bit of sense for you.

My sailor shipped to RTC September & PIR’d November.  He is sitting at A school waiting for a seat in class…  I feel so sad he can’t start classes & move forward as the holding pattern time doesn’t show a projected start for classes as due to Co-Vid it seems to be a bit backed up.  He is probably handling it better at this end than Momma tho.

Insurance question:  I left mine On my policy for dental & vision but, dh dropped him from his medical insurance (I carry dental & vision as dh policy doesn’t cover but 1 dental exam nothing else).  I haven’t brought myself to drop him yet even tho he did PIR November.  I can drop anytime but, I haven’t felt ready to sever that last little thread.

BelovedbyHim – I am bawling big tears here at work from your Sailor’s Christmas poem…oh my…I cry so easily nowadays anyhow…Thank you for sharing!!! LOVE IT.

Loved your warning on the webpage too…

  • NewMilmom

Oh my stars:  I got to the No Boots Home for Christmas Poem & lost it even harder than before…All the feels today!!!!

Jacksmom17-  Congratulations!!! To you and your new Sailor.  Does he have a date to ship to A School yet?  Some have had to go to THU (temporary holding unit) at RTC base & others have shipped to A School to sit on hold (mine is in later group).  Big Hugs to both of you!!!

Leslie – oh so sad about your SR getting extra 2 weeks ROM.  Keep writing letters & dating them so that once you get the address you can send out.  I typed 1 page each letter & sent 2 pages each day when I first received the address to catch him up.  I am sure some made it & others who knows…Also, note you may NOT get a letter in response for a bit of time.  Mine didn’t have a ton of time to write but, we gather he received mail okay from us, his sisters & a couple of his friends.  I put little uplifting affirmative quotes in my letters as well as included a picture of local places & our pets ..on the page and typed around those too.

I was a total basket everyday and this group of amazing women helped me immensely.  Some get tons done/start new hobbies/remodel homes/etc…  I was/am opposite!!  I struggled to figure out how to get through the normal day to day routine…And I still somedays feel like a total basket case but, it is easing a little bit…although random tears in the shower still happen just not as frequently.  Hang in there!!  We are all on a journey with our kiddos now in the Navy.

  • NewMilmom

VintageGal – for sailor I paid for his car registration for 2021 plus he is getting 2 sandstone Navy coasters for his car.  For dh so far all I have is a Navy Dad Sweatshirt I ordered for him.  He went & bought what he wanted from BestBuy last week.    I really don’t have any good ideas this year.  I sent an Instant Pot to my parents plus a car/truck sticker that says Navy Grandparents & holiday masks I had my girlfriend sew from fabric I bought.

Shanny- OMG Boots in the House!!!! AMAZING & I am sooo happy for you!!!  Enjoy each minute & get all the hugs he will give you.  Mine used to hug me all the time but last couple years he has given me very very few…refuses to hug but hoping after being gone I can get hugs when/if we get to see him.

Leslie- I am soo sorry your SR got caught in the covid ROM loop.  Hoping this is the only time.  Several have gone through it with their SR’s too.  It seems the SR’s handle it better than us ole Momma’s. Just keep repeating, No News is Good News.  And the silver lining in it is you got a call.

NorthwoodsMom- Great new friend to support each other is Wonderful!!!

  • NewMilmom

LadyBluefire- my son only calls Momma when it is uber important too.  He will call dh or middle sister to “talk” but, if important he calls Momma.  Just how he is & I don’t expect that will change.  I did try to raise them to be independent but, my Momma heart still wishes they were little & needing me more.

Phoenix-Praying for your sailor, Bud & all the sailor’s shipping to sea.  The thought made my heart squeeze.  Prayers for you & families too.

To all our New Mom’s starting this journey with their SR – Welcome!  You have found the Best place to be throughout this new journey.  This group is full of supportive, caring Mom’s who have walked through this too.  I wouldn’t be even half functional if not for this group.  1 thing I can say is each of us walk it individually & differently but, that is perfectly fine & normal.  My new normal is not normal at all & through this group I have come to accept that it is okay too.   Each of us handles it differently & each day we handle it – some days better than others & then other days we feel like we are breaking/emotional etc…   This group has always shown care, concern, love & acceptance throughout.

Feel very blessed to have such support in my life as I begin the process of being a Navy Mom.

    Blessings to each of you!!

  • Phoenixmom

NewMilMom yes as far as Insurance you can drop him he is covered under Tricare they have dental and eye vision My son wears glasses so he has had a few pair already. and Thank you for the Prayers.

  • TreyLexisMom

We got 3 letters today!  He was able to send the 2 letters he wrote during initial ROM which were very hard to read, he had a rough time.  The letter he sent last Thursday started out sad but he said that he is determined to get through it, so he is finally starting settle in a little.  He was able to send the letters because they gave him his Div before putting him back in ROM.  He said he likes how he looks in camo and he was issued glasses, he hasn't had to wear glasses since he was pretty young.  We were so happy to see the letters, we have already sent off 5 letters today and several family members sent some also.  Continued prayers for all of us, 8 week boot camp is now at least 12 for him because of COVID.  He said the food at Ft McCoy wasn't that great, but much better at Great Lakes.

  • belovedbyHim

DoriBry & Mamasita—If you will tell me when your SR left home/MEPS I can give you an idea of when to expect that first letter home.

LadyBluefire—I don’t think that is the issue since I tend to keep stuff up to date, since that is kind of my jobish (when I’m working like I am today!! (Yeah!!)

C’smom—I’m so sorry he’s stuck in Holding He!! ! That is so annoying!! He needs to just start showing up every morning to ask what his status is and get just a smidge squeaky!! I Know the Navy can move at a Snails pace but this is just silly!!

Anti M – I’m sorry but I’m glad to know it isn’t just me!!

Warriorprotector—YEA You finally got here!! I’m sorry it has been so frustrating for you. It seems something is up with the site. Hopefully Admin are on it and It’ll be sorted soon!! The Holidays will never feel the same again. It doesn’t matter if it’s on or 4 kids, The knowing that you will not see them and the limited/ No communication is so hard!! I told my son all those years ago that he couldn’t leave at the holidays so he left a month after graduation!! I don’t know if there is a good time to live. Remind me of his ship date?

Northwoodsmom—My pillow isn’t tear drenched ALL the time!!

VintageGal—Because then we’d never get Grandkids (That and the species would implode…. Could you imagine a world full of Teenagers?!!! I always said Teens are proof that evolution couldn’t have happened… Our Primordial Ancestors would have had the first “Evolved Teen”, Looked at them with that look that only moms of Teens can get and said “Nope!!” And eaten them on the spot ,thus ending evolution!!)

NewMilmom—You were warned!! (Sorry to make you cry at work though!!)
Please go ahead and remove him. You are not severing a thread but saving him and you from headaches going forward. It may not save you a penny but once they become sailors they are not authorized to have ANY other insurance (Reserves are the Exception)

TreyLexisMom—AWESOME!!! I’m so glad you got letters!! Just and FYI for you and for anyone else who has the address but has a sailor put into ROM, ADD “IN ROM” to the face of the envelope to help when the mail is being sorted. Hopefully that small addition will get their letters to them.

I still can't bold things or attach anything but At least I can post comments and I guess that's what's important.
  • Phoenixmom

TreyLexisMom that is awesome News! Thank You for sharing!

  • Phoenixmom

Good Night Folks Have a Great Evening for those that have boots in the HOUSE! ENJOY! Sweet dreams! Until tomorrow!

  • VintageGal

Treylexismom ~ YAY! so happy that you got letters from your SR! That’s wonderful! It’s heart wrenching to read when they’re sad but it sounds like he has a good mindset right now and he knows what needs to be done. I bet he looks great in his camo and glasses! It’s so nice to finally see their handwriting and to hear how they’re doing. (((((BNMH)))))

NewMilMom - Hello! Oh sweet mama you really caught up there just now didn’t you?! That was a feat! Bravo! :)

Since your son had PIR right after mine I’m guessing that he’s just a week or two behind my son who started classes last Thursday. We ended up mailing a package to him through one of his good buddies that he made there at school.
That’s great that you paid for his registration I’m sure he’ll really appreciate it :) I love the get the gift you want and rap it idea as well!
oh and sweet mama cry cry cry! cry in the shower, in the car (safely), on a walk, or wherever the heck you want! I know I do! And isn’t it just wonderful when you hear that you’re obsessed about your sailor. I’ve heard that a time or two so I reign it in at home and I let it out here. This group has been a lifesaver and so glad that we all have each other! BNMH!!

belovedbyHim-my son flew to chicago on 11/10.  But he called on 11/21 because he was put in isolation pending results from a covid test so not sure if test was negative that he was able to finish out the original 14 days or if days were added. And then of course if results were positive how many extra days he had to do.  I never heard back on results.

Anyone else having issues with the page not loading correctly?  May just be me trying to read on my phone...

Texted my sailor today.   He hasn't heard anything new.  If he hasn't left THU by Friday, he will do a status check then.  That's the only day of the week now they are allowed to do status checks.
