warriorprotector:  there is a place that is run and owned by disabled veterans that he is a huge fan of but if he wants theirs he will be paying over $1 per cup. A portion of all sales goes to a charity that works with disabled veterans.  They do their own roasting on site. I will tell him to try the NEX for now while I look for deals! 

Imlaotvhe - (((BIG HUGS))) Something similar to your son's situation happened to my son as well. I know that it's difficult, but try to be patient and wait for the test results. You're probably shaken and worried and want nothing more than to be there for your son. I pray that you find strength for yourself and him. You'll know soon. God bless.

belovesbyHim- never any issues before.  He was a 3 sport athlete and always active with no problems.  We have heart problems in the family when older but not at his age.

Northwoodsmom- I love it. How sweet of your hubby!! We would go to a hotel too when I was younger. Now we don't travel on New Year's to many crazies out there so we mainly stay in.

beloved, thanks for explaining.  All this time I've been wondering what DH, DD meant.  I thought they were initials!  Lol

Tonight we will be celebrating with just our three kids that are here.  Usually, it's just my husband and me, but the kids don't have other plans this year.  Making some simple appetizers and will be playing games.  It looks like our Christmas/birthday package got delivered to out Sailor last evening.  I asked him to face time us when he opens it.  So that might happen today, too!  

Everyone have a safe, healthy, and peaceful New Year!  Praying the coming year is better for everyone!  And that you can all look back on this last year and count the blessings that came out of it!

I am so ready for a New Year, Just because of all the drastic happenings in my Life, 2019 and 2020 were horrible to my Family with everything that had happened to My Dearly Beloved Benjamin. Never did we think anything like this would of Happened. But the strength and the Courage/Hope/Love we all have for each other we pulled it together. We will never forget these trying times, but we are so now ready to conquer a New Beginning .

To My Benjamin, We will Hold you in our Heart My Love until we can hold you in Heaven once again!

NewMilMom I seen that Meme on facebook, that is a good one, I also saw this morning someone posted a Meme that said" 2020 Won" for 2021. Lol thought that was cute as well. Happy New Year's Eve!

Imlaotvhe I can't even imagine your worry not being able to ask questions of the doctor and know what the tests/results are as soon as they are available. I'm so sorry!! I'll keep good thoughts that you get some more info very soon!!

Years ago my SR had to do a physical for a county job, it wasn't at our regular Dr. but at the occupational center for he county. They told him he had a heart murmur. He had a sports physical for high school sports at our regular Dr. and she didn't say anything about it at that time. I freaked out a little bit and took him back to our regular Dr. who when she listened very closely 'thought' she 'might' have heard a small one. She said she could refer him to cardiology if we were worried about it but said it was likely an 'innocent' murmur that he would grow out of. A couple years later he was really sick, couldn't eat/drink from an intense sore throat that we figured was strep (test was negative) and the urgent care Dr. said he could hear it but attributed it to his not eating/drinking normally as even slight dehydration can cause a murmur. He has had physicals since and no one has mentioned it again.

Shanny, is your weather bad where you are that your pup is feeling cooped up? I know when it is really rainy or windy my pup does his 'zoomies' through the house instead of the yard.

No New Years plans here. Just me, hubby and my menagerie to bring in the new year. We need to head to Costco today.....awful timing to run out of dog food.....so hopefully that doesn't take all day. JoAnn's is having a big sale on yarn so going to go stock up and make some hats. Oh, I made my DIL(daughter-in-law) and granddaughter matching hats, purple with a purple and black pompom on top. I got my granddaughter a  baby doll for her first birthday in February so I made the doll a matching hat as well yesterday. It turned out so cute!! 

About the  abbreviations....I was part of a SAHM (stay at home mom) group back when my boys were little that used them so I'm familiar with the common ones. It is tricky separating them from the Navy ones though, haha! I'm picking up on the Navy ok now. 

Hope everyone has a fun, peaceful, safe and happy new year. I'm sure we will be in bed before midnight although sometimes I stay up just so I don't have to be woken up by the fireworks. 

Shanny I'm laughing at your dog/toy story!  I never pick up our puppy's toys and put them in her basket unless I'm about to vacuum because she dumps them out as soon as she notices.  I usually vacuum in the morning, and that's her sleepy time.  So I try to do it stealthily so she isn't aware.  But the family room where her basket is is usually the last room I vacuum, so most of the time, they are dumped out already.  It just happened again this morning!  So your story especially made me laugh because I can relate!  

mom2blondies and Shanny, Shanny lives roughly 2 hours south of me, so I find myself looking at what weather she is getting when i see our weather report.  Lol  A couple days ago, we got about 6.5 inches of snow, but, Shanny, I don't know that you got that, did you?  You might have gotten freezing rain.  And tomorrow late morning we are supposed to be getting bad weather again.  We, up here north farther, may get snow or freezing rain.  But Shanny, I think you are getting freezing rain, right!  Anyway, it's a good day to stay in, for people or puppies!  

Well, now I need to start making the food for tonight for the hubby and kids!

shanny ~ puppy playtime! I’m dog sitting for my DIL for a couple days. She dropped off her corgi Stella, while I was sleeping, in my sons room in her crate... it’s about to crazy in here!! When my dog Presley and Stella are together all heck brakes lose. Stella LOVES attention so she does everything she can to jump in and steal the lime light whenever my dog is involved. It irritates the tar out of my dog! Lol Partyofseven ~ hi! Sounds like you gave a nice evening ahead of you! It’s nice that your son is still home! BNMH!! Sorry about your grandsons mama drama. A little dramatic maybe? Yikes.

C’sMom:  we started with about 4 inches of snow...  then freezing rain, then rain, finished with a freezing rain and snow mix. My driveway was a slushy mess yesterday as it melted. Then it all froze last night. So my entire yard is an ice rink. And I can’t ice skate!  My baby decided to take me for a slide across the yard today. Only actually fell once but saw my life flash before my eyes 3 more times lol this next storm is supposed to be all ice and freezing rain for us. They are forecasting .10 to .25 of ice. 

mom2blondies:  he thinks he is always misused lol but today, everything is covered with ice so he didn’t get his big walk thins morning. He resorts to zoomies and stealing everything he can find when he feels cheated. Still a puppy even if he is almost 2

Shanny - Sounds like another hot chocolate, fuzzy blanket night. 

VintageGal - My husband's family plays Spades, so my children all have learned how to play. As kids we played Nerts with them a lot, and then this year at Christmas with my MIL we learned how to play Hearts.

Shanny, yes, my pup will be 2 in April but still acts like a silly puppy. He even sometimes gets my old lady pit bull to play tug or chase with him....he is THAT convincing that playing is FUN! 

Here where I am in CA we only get snow in the mountains. It has snowed a handful of times here at our house in the 26 years we've lived here but just enough to stick to the grass for a few days in the shade. Where my oldest son lives they get a good amount during storms but that is just 1-3 times per winter they get a couple of feet. 

The line to get into Costco was not acceptable on this cold/windy day so I went to Petco and got them the food I got back in March when everyone was buying everything up and Costco had no dog food (or anything else for that matter). Hopefully mixing it with what is left of their old food for a few days will prevent any tummy upset. 

VintageGal, that puppy looks like mischief is her middle name, haha! Your dog has the same look that my Piper girl gets when my son drops off his boxer girls. 

I never could get my kids to enjoy playing cards. I grew up in a big card playing family and learned Spades when I was probably 9 or 10 y /o. The only time I get to play anymore is when we have family get togethers....which is greatly limited due to covid. I always find it challenging to switch from playing Spades to Hearts...brain has to totally change gears. Now it is just me and hubby and he isn't a card player. Will sometimes humor me with a game of Gin but he doesn't enjoy it. 

Decided to make a pot of green pozole for dinner. Today is definitely soup weather!

I have to ask because I know we have a few Michigan moms here....  Card games...  Can anyone play Euchre?!?!  My all time favorite but I was told in college that it's mostly just people from Michigan who play it....  I never was able to teach my sailor to play it.  He had no interest in it...  I learned in middle school 

Thank you so much everyone for the birthday wishes. Hubby just bought me a ring of shrimp and some herring with my favorite wine Stella Rosa Peach . It will be a quiet celebration. He also put up my big nativity which I wasn't going to decorate this year. 

Love the doggie pictures, my husband said my older dog went half crazy wanting go outside before I pulled in. He thinks she heard my car coming down the road, they both were half way down the driveway when I pulled in, had to stop and let them in. 

NewMilMom you crack me up, I love to laugh and you Ladies seem to have the knack of either being in tears or rolling in laughter, thank you.

VintageGal- Thank you. He is out with his friends right now and I am enjoying some wine as I type this.  :) Yes my grand son's mama is quite the drama queen but for the most part we have learned how to handle her and not get sweep into her periods of drama. Lol

I love the doggie pics and stories. We have a doberman and her name is Blossom and she is just like that. She has her toys every where and if I try to pick them up she comes running like what are you doing, what are you doing with my toys? Lol Lol

Partyofseven ~ hello!! my daughter is having a sleepover with her friends and my 13 ye old wants to take a nap and asked us to wake him up later. The dogs have been going non-stop and I just opened a bottle of wine. My Christmas gift was a subscription to the TCM Wine Club!! CHEERS!! Of course I’m watching... Happy New Year's Eve:

So just me and animals in house for a bit... I decided to do something Different (& 1st time ever for me)... I bought lobster tails (3) for dd, dh & I & make them with roasted fingerling potatoes, baked a couple yams (both red & white), loaf of homemade oat bread & had planned on making broccoli plus have salad...appetizer was bake brie in puff pastry bites.

Well dd decided to have dh drive her (she had a bottle of a passionfruit pineapple hard cider I bought her when I went to market for the "special treat" lobster tails).   She ordered food for all of us online as not sure about the lobster tails... But, she did say our sailor would be mad I made lobster tails after he left home... He ADORES lobster! 

So much for my thinking I was making it a wonderful treat -- splurging on lobster tails...  Oh well I ate mine and damn it was good so their loss!!

I'll just wait until my sailor is home to splurge again as I know he would eat them.

Early morning tomorrow so plan on shutting down early, but promised dd I would watch some comedy thing she wants to watch tonight... later night now than planned since they decided to take the hour plus drive for Texas Roadhouse (closest we have & they are new here in our area in last couple years).

I am full as ate my food I made so she will be a bit miffed but, I did tell her NOT to order me a meal & she did so anyhow...she does that ALL the time. 

I have never heard of Nerts or Euchre... I have played Spades & Hearts and my youngest 2 used to play those. Long Gone are those days...

Happy New Year Everyone!! We have watched one ball drop and ready for another one and then to bed!  I finally got my Christmas letter w/ pictures emailed to immediate family and some friends. I will have to send the rest tomorrow!

Played cards last night and tonight: Catan - Trade Build Settle. It was the first time for youngest son, hubby and I. I was pleased I actually won! 

Reading through the posts, I will just say, Nerts - each person plays with their own deck of cards that you can easily identify after the game. It is sort of a combination of multiple solitaire, and spoons! At least when you play on the floor in a circle with 5 children - all very competitive as well as mom & dad. 

You are building piles of cards in suit, but you also have your "Nerts" pile that you can build on Red/black and are trying to discard all of your 13 Nerts cards one way or other so that you can yell "Nerts" and end the game. For every card played out into the multiple piles in the middle, +1 pt. for every Nerts card left in your hand - 2 pts.   The game ends when someone reaches 100 pts. We modified the scoring with how far negative you could go, because one of our children never seemed to have positive points - but that is the only game we did that in. We started collecting cards at places we visited just so we could have multiple decks to choose from.

beloved - That was beautiful. 

I did make the Napoleon.  I did not let the custard cool enough before I assembled it, so I have a custard river and mess. I used the leftover Christmas eggnog as a base and just added some cream and yolks, but it was still very rummy (I guess I make my eggnog a bit strong .... don't even ask about the Irish Cream. Since I went keto, I make them all myself, even though alcohol is not keto either .... compromises).

The cake is 14 layers, so that part was a success.

My sailor called tonight and we all had a nice 45-minute long chat. We got to see some of his roommates and it was nice to see the jokes and camaraderie. Even though they are in the 2-week after-Christmas ROM, they seem to be happy and enjoying each other's company. It seems like a really great group. Good thing .... they will likely be there in A-school until next Christmas.
