HAPPY NEW YEAR to all you beautiful Ladies. May our Loving Lord fill your days with overflowing Blessings and Peace.
I didn't make midnight, got up at 3 am to catch my flight home and only made it until 9 last night. Thankful for my roaring pellet stove this morning, went from 71 yesterday morning to 9 this morning. Snuggling with my two dogs on the sofa with hot coffee and a chocolate eclair my daughter bought me for my birthday.
My son managed to call but said he will be studying nonstop for a big test coming up after stand down. Praying for all of our service man, their sacrifices for us can never be repaid. I also am thankful for every second you have given up to be with your child so that they can serve. Remember it is through the heart break of every mother who's child has served that we are Blessed with our Freedoms that we so much enjoy. So I start off my New Year with a Grateful heart.

Good Morning to all of our new moms and ladies,
Remember to keep your phones on with you at all times and those ringers on loud. You never know if you will get a call or not. Hopefully the form letter has come or will be coming soon and you have been writing your letters.
Prayers for all of our service members May God keep and protect them always through out the coming year.
My Sailor and his friends made it home safely for which I am thankful. I am thankful for all of my blessings and am thankful for all you lovely ladies!!!
BBH- That was beautiful!! Blessings to you as well!!
DoriBry- Happy New Year to you too.
Northwoodsmom- I am glad you had a great visit with your dad and made it back safely. I'm glad you heard from your son. Yay for phone calls.

I've never heard of Nerts, but it kind of sounds like Peanut! Heard of spades and hearts and I have played hearts a couple times. Grew up playing Euchre! But I don't think any of our kids know how to play it. I just recently found out Euchre is a Michigan thing. I couldn't believe it. Guess i don't get out much and think things are the same everywhere. Lol

We had our three kids that are around here at home last night and today after they got out of work. We facetimed with our sailor last night and earlier today. So it was as close as we could get to having all four kids home.
Our Sailor said he will class up January 27 and graduate March 19, if all goes as planned.

C'sMom - It has been pretty quiet on here all day. I am glad that you had most of your family together and that they were all able to Face Time with your sailor! It is a lot easier to have visual when everyone in the same location.
I think we might have to learn how to play Euchre as well!

Argh I can't find the post now and someone asked a question about Euchre..... yes, it is the game with bowers and jacks are high. I used to be pretty good but now I only play on my phone so not sure i could play with real people lol.
Well, I have been hanging around at home all day. Its been freezing rain constantly since about 11:00am. So 8 hours or so. The back steps are a death trap right now. Still have electricity so there is that! Hoping for a break soon as heavy snow is coming later on top of all the ice. I don't know what happened to winters from when I was a kid or even in college. We would have SNOW and lots on it. Not this freezing rain and ice stuff we have had twice this week... hope everyone is safe and warm!!
Happy New Year to everyone! Especially our sailors and SRs! And Welcome to a our new members!!!

A joyous new year to you all, may abundance and prosperity, peace and kindness, fill our loves each day.

I pretty much went to bed at the regular time, but the fireworks, pots and pans, and someone's car alarm woke me up. I got up and toasted "To Absent Friends". My cats were concerned about the noise outside, but not scared.
VintageGal, my trip is in March. We plan on road tripping back and forth from Vegas. I booked a birthday trip in January for San Diego ... 2022. No rush here.

Anti M- Love that cup. We had some loud boomers out here last night. I had my cup of wine and fell asleep on the couch and then went to bed. Lol
March will be here before we know it and you'll have to remind us again of your trip to SD so we can meet up if possible!!! :) Glad your kitties were ok, mine were hiding all night!!
Shanny- Stay warm out there and get ready for all that snow that's coming.
Had a good day today as well.

Marcd2k: I know this is tough and your absolutely right about the no news. They have thousands of recruits there and only so many phone banks. Because of Covid they need to be disinfected after every use. Because of the holidays there are less workers there. Recruits earn phone time as a unit, if they are having trouble working together or just following the demands of their leaders these privileges can be taken away. Because of the holidays mail is really behind, your daughters address is most likely sitting in the mail room or post office. Please try to focus on the positive as long as you didn't get a call saying anything different she is fine. Christmas without your loved one is extremely difficult and unfortunately all these delays are caused by the holidays, you add Covid to that equation and it becomes a nightmare. I am so sorry you have to go through this great silence but know we are here for you. Prayers you will soon get some good news.

Marcd2k: I am so glad that you are posting on the group. I wish I could say something different than Northwoodsmom's reply but she is right. It is hard when our expectations get raised and then nothing happens. Unfortunately, many of the recruiters don't even know what is going on at BC and it was not wise, in my opinion, for him to say anything to you about expecting a phone call on Christmas.
Looking at the calendar, your daughter would be getting to BC just as typical holiday stand down takes place in many areas of the Navy. BelovedbyHim is the one I rely on for information on Processing days and the schedule when they get to BC. As I recall, she wasn't sure if they would even be doing recruit processing during the 2 weeks of the holiday, I honestly don't know.
As for the form letter, Dec 30th would barely have been 4 weeks from when you daughter left for BC and there are many mail delays right now as well as no mail service. For a typical mail time, it has been taking 4 - 5 weeks for some of our families to be receiving their letters and we have even had some not receive a form letter at all, but would finally receive a personal letter with an address.
The extra ROM (quarantine) has thrown a lot of things off from the normal as when my son went through BC 3+ years ago. And currently, when someone is receiving a phone call it is because their SR has been put back in ROM or into medical. So, yes, "No news is good news."
Marcd2k - Please feel free to come and share. You are part of the next wave of moms who are in limbo right now and the reason we have so much chatter currently in this group is because some of these ladies went through a lot while their SRs were in BC and they are here to encourage you, so the more you and the other newer members post the more we can get to know you and encourage you, even if it isn't what you want to hear, we are your shoulder to cry on, you face to scream at, and your chest to pound a fist at - because those emotions are there in different forms for different ones of us as we are growing stronger learning to be a Navy Mom.

Good Morning Ladies and welcome to all of our new moms,
Today is the beginning of a new year and a new day. Prayers for letters and calls to come thru for those that are in boot camp and for those that their Sailors are out in the fleet. May God protect us and them every step of the way.
Marcd2k- Good Morning and I am glad that you posted on here. The ladies gave you some good insight and the No news is good news will really come into play here. Hang in there, keeping busy is the key. Keep writing if you have already started they love to receive mail and number your letters so when your SR does get them she will know what order you wrote them in.
We are here for you and I know it's not the exact answer you are looking for but this is a new world for us to as the Navy is the Navy and COVID has changed a lot of things.
Post when ever you feel comfortable and someone will answer you.
Prayers that you hear something soon.

Good Morning Ladies,
I hope everyone had a great day yesterday and or if not a good one for sure.
We go back to school on Monday and we have three districts that are going back full in person and we will have teachers planning a sick out instead of a strike out.
Please continue to pray for all of us as we navigate thru these waters as our numbers continue to rise. More and more people that I know are getting the virus. At least for us in Az I think it's going to be a while before things settle down.
Anyways, hello to Phoenixmom (hope your holiday was good), warriorprotector, NewMilMom, Northwoodsmom, Anti M, Chipmunk, Shanny, VintageGal, Gigi, Shortcake, BBH, LBF, C'sMom. May you ladies have a great day!!!

Hey Marcd2k,
How are you today? Thanks for posting. That was a suggestion to help keep you busy. :) When mine was in and I was waiting for my form letter I would write him twice a day it just helped me to fill better as I was really missing him bad. Lol
I talked about the family, his friends, our pets. I sent him bible verses, encouragement and always told him how proud I was of him and that I supported him every step of the way.
I didn't say that I missed him as I tried to keep everything upbeat and let him lead when I started getting his letters.
Long story short no you still have to wait for the form letter. I'm sorry that it doesn't go any faster. :( We all moms wish it did that's for sure.
You are very welcome!!!

Marcd2k: basically, write your letters and stack them aside waiting for an address. Then as soon as you have an address, send them. Remember nothing with glitter or that makes sounds or plays music. Try to limit the pages to requiring no more than 1 stamp to mail (4 pages of regular notebook paper or 3 pages of printer paper is the rough estimate) i was told to use white envelopes only but others have said they weren't told the same. The day I got my son's address I sent out 4 envelopes. Then 1 a day until he was out. Also stop sending mail about 7-10 days before PIR. Make sure to tell your SR when it is the last one so they don't think you forgot them. This is because the mail tends to be super slow at BC and they don’t always get forwarded! I hope that helps some!
WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!

Marcd2k - What Shanny said. I never got the form letter, and the post office misplaced my then SR's personal letters. I finally got his first personal letter a few days before his PIR. I think my lost "puppy" was one of the reasons the Navy Mom Posse was originally activated. His recruiter had gone back to the fleet, and the computers were crashing, no one else at the recruiting office could access his records, and every other thing the dear Navy moms recommended failed!
In the 7th week I ended up sending 4 Sandboxx letters to the 4 divisions I thought he would likely be in by ROM arrival times. That way he would be sure to get something and know that I did not forget about him. (If things get really desperate, it would be easier for you to do that since there are fewer female divisions, but that is a last straw!!!) I had the Facebook posse of moms putting out SOS's to their sailors too.
In week 7 his group got to make a phone call. They had no real discipline issues, but had been forgotten in the first phone go-around. It was about 4 days after my Sandboxx frenzy. He had gotten that letter, and assured me that he had written and sent 5 or 6 letters already, including his ROM letters right after they got to RTC. I eventually got all his letters (one after his PIR).
The moms here can vouch for how frantic I was, especially after 5 weeks. EVERYONE else in that PIR group had gotten letters, some had gotten addresses before the form letters (from recruiters) and my kid was lost. "No news is good news" is the only thing that kept me sane. Rinse, and repeat and repeat and repeat.
Your SR is fine (otherwise you would have heard) and your SR is probably doing amazingly well. We moms are the weak link, and the more seasoned and experienced MOMS are the only reason I got through with only 7 or 8 years of visible aging. Lady Clairol makes bank on us.
When I finally got an address, I had 12 envelopes to mail, with 39 total letters. I printed them double-sided, and with pictures, and he got a "novel" in his first mail batch. He said it took him 3 or 4 days to get through them (I numbered the envelopes and they really took too much space on my desk), but it was worth it knowing that I had been thinking of him so often (even if there were just funny memes and sports headlines).
So write, and keep busy and say and think ..... No news is good news until it drives you and everyone around you a bit nuts. And hyaluronic acid for those frown lines.

Marcd2K - I just checked your profile page again and I realized you are DAD! Forgive us. We do have fathers and other loved ones on the group and we welcome everyone. Sometimes we just forget and assume everyone is Mom and even with your user name, it is easy to mistake.
Dad's still miss their daughters and still want to know what is going on and when to expect to hear from them. Hopefully, this information the ladies shared is helpful. I actually wrote emails to my son, and then when I had his form letter, I printed them out front and back, wrote a personal note and mailed them. That way, I had a record of what I wrote and emailed it every day. I also saw his smiling face on his Avatar and it helped me through those days of silence, although mine wasn't as long as it is now.
Here is some more information - Letter writing and fun stuff/questionnaire

Marcd2k, my SR is a week behind yours and I haven't heard a single thing since he arrived either. I was somewhat prepared for that but then I see on the PIR facebook group that people are getting calls from theirs and getting their forms. I continue to wait patiently (not patiently) for something, anything. I think the holidays have something to do with it like Chipmunk and Northwoodsmom said. This is so very difficult!!!
I got to see my grandbaby today and it was the best way to start the new year!! They had been snowed in so couldn't get down to get their mail/groceries so now that the roads were all clear I drove up to them. After she fall asleep for her nap I took a drive around the lake and it was so beautiful I parked and took a walk to enjoy the crisp mountain air. I ended up having a 'Navy Allergy' flare up as I drove into town. Feeling so proud of both my kids and overwhelmed with emotion.

Katharine-- You ARE the reason for the Posse but it has existed in various forms over the years. It was Extremely rare in the Before, for anything even close to what happened to you to happen so there was not much call for it and then we had the AFTER time and everything changes all the time!
Jan 2, 2021

Marcd2k -- Dec 17 would have been the end of ROM
P1 12/18
P hold 12/19 & 12/20
P2 12/21
P3 12/22
P4 12/23
P5 Maybe 12/24 but maybe not until 12/28 Either way the form letter could not have been mailed any sooner than 12/28 (More likely 12/29 Tuesday last) so you are still Right on Pace.
I know it feels like it’s been FOREVER but you are in the exact place you should be. Look for your Form letter to arrive mid to late next week if there are no postal or weather delays. (I have heard tell that the Chicago Distribution center is one of the hardest hit with COVID delays so please bear that in mind) As for writing letters while you wait. 1) it gives you something to do to feel connected. 2) number all your letters so your sailor knows the order to read them in. 3) There is no where to mail them until you get the form letter with the Division and ship number. While we DO have the address for every ship until your SR’s Div has mailed the form letter and trained a Mail PO there is no way the letter will be delivered to them. No ONE else in the Div is getting letters any sooner either. In fact letters mailed for a Div before they have a trained Mail PO get set aside. eventually someone will try and go through them and try and deliver them but what happens more often than not is that they get set aside and after 10-40 weeks they get stamped Return to Sender (Maybe, if you are lucky) Writing now also allows you to express all your feeling and get them down on paper and then decide what you will send to your SR and what you won’t.
As for the recruiter... Their ONLY job is to get your Child to sign on the dotted line. Sometimes they are 100% honest and upfront but more often than not I have found that they “Stretch the truth” or bend it to fit what they think will get your blessing and your kids to sign up. Pretty Much any one leaving from October- December needs to plan on not being home for the Holidays and they should plan to NOT call hoe either. If you get lucky YEA You but this will prevent a Ton of disapointment otherwise. COVID has really turned things on it’s head as well. Now more than ever No News is Really GOOD News!!

Shanny, what a unbelievable beautiful picture. I am further west and north of you but enjoy the beauty of the snow that sticks to every limb and sparkles like diamonds in the sun. I know when I lived in southern Utah and go down to Florida I miss the fresh crispness and the fragrance of the pure cleaness of the air. After a morning shower in spring is the best. I asked my Dad why after the rain down south the air doesn't have that unforgettable smell, he said because of the trees, it comes from our trees. Don't know if that is true but I sure would miss it. Thank you for sharing the picture and reminding of the beauty in my own piece of the world and how Blessed we are!

Marcd2k: I think part of the problem with info on current bootcamp is that it is constantly changing. My son left July 29th. His group was one of the last to quarantine in a hotel. They weren’t allowed to leave their rooms at all. And could only really communicate with others in their room (I think his was 3 people in the room) or by yelling across the hall to others. I think now that they are at FT McCoy they have a little more freedom to interact with others. Before my son’s group they could take handheld electronics. But his group they had to box them up. And bootcamp was supposed to be 8 weeks total and the 2 weeks quarantine was taken out of that 8 weeks so they lost 2 weeks of training. My understanding is they have gone back to 8 weeks training plus the 2 for quarantine so they are there 10 now. So even what he did a few months ago is different than it is now. And the only way we get info is from our loved ones. And each of us have had different experiences from each other. Does that make sense? It is constantly changing and seems like no one can keep up with the changes. My son enlisted with a friend from high school and started bootcamp about 3 weeks apart and her experience was different than his was...
Once again, welcome to the group! We are happy to have you with us on this crazy ride!

Good Morning Marcd2k,
Sorry I did not see your post before I posted mine or I would have welcomed you again.
I am sorry the other group doesn't have a lot of up to date information.
What happened here is that a few of the ladies started putting the information together that all of us learned from the new moms that were going thru COVID boot camp is what we would we say.
All we had at the beginning was pre covid information so we all had to learn together as you guys went thru bc with your SR's. That's why it's so important to keep telling yourself No news is good news!!!
Even now things have changed some with the form letters and the mail. That was crazy what some of our moms went thru with their SR's not getting mail and or phone calls.
When you do hear from yours have some questions written down that you want to ask her and then you can let us know if and what any changes have been made.
I love BelovedByHim's timeline as it is such a great help to all of us.
You are very welcome and welcome again to our group!!!

Good morning!
Marcd2k ~ Hello, it looks like you’ve received a ton of great information and advice from these ladies the last couple days. I hope it has helped. All of our experiences have all been a little different but one thing that remains the same is “No news is good news” as much as it hurts not having communication. But before you know it she’ll be graduated and you’ll have that communication back. My son has been out of Boot Camp since the end of October and it finally feel so far behind us. He ended up having a second ROM in his fifth week due to someone else testing positive. It was really rough on him but he got through it and fortunately he was with his buddies that were in the bunks next to him. I hope that everything goes smoothly for your daughter and that you receive her form letter soon. It’s so nice just seeing their handwriting! Best wishes!
Shanny ~ I love seeing a picture of you from the other day! And wow you are really living in a winter wonderland! I’m a desert kid so I don’t know how I’d handle those kind of temperatures. I’d end up looking like Ralphie from a Christmas story just stepping outside lol Best wishes to your sailor as he really begins his career in the Navy! BNMH!!
Partyofseven ~ hello! Good luck to you and your students going back to school tomorrow. Hopefully the districts will be able to keep their teachers and students safe and have good cleaning protocols. Our state of Nevada has been discussing going hybrid, but honestly I think they’re going to follow suit with California and it doesn’t look like they’re going to have any changes until the end of March. Is your Sailor still with you? BNMH!!!
Also, I’ll have to check out fossil creek. We love Arizona and you’re not too far away from us. We’re always looking for new places to take the camper. We spent a few days camping in Williams over the summer. Fun!!
Chipmunk ~ hello! how are you? I finally got all of my Christmas decorations put away and my house decluttered and cleaned. The house looks like it lost about 50 pounds! Lol My sailor and I have been looking at Disney pins online and figuring out if what he’d for his birthday. :)
Northwoodsmom ~ Still thinking about how nice it was that you were able to go see your dad. I know it had to be very comforting to have you there with him around the holidays. I hope you enjoyed your birthday as well :)
Mom2blondies ~ Hello! What a beautiful picture! Is that Big Bear Lake?
Katharine ~ loved reading your post to Marc! Wow, it’s quite something to read back on everything that you went through! Those were some wild days and we did have some good laughs and cried a lot of tears! What brand of hydraulic acid do you use by the way? Lol
C’smom ~ good morning, sounds like you were able to have a really nice holiday. Thanking the Lord for FaceTime! That is one thing that has been a huge blessing throughout all of this. How was your sailor doing?
Have a wonderful day Phoenixmom, Belovedbyhim, Anti M, Warriorprotector, B’sNukeMom, Doribry, Proud and grateful, DallasNavyMom, Shortcake and to all of our Navy moms!
keep your phone on you at all times and answer any and all calls! You can always hang up on a spam call! I hope that letters and calls come through this week! BNMH!!

Awe!! Happy Birthday to your seabee!!! That's a long time for him!! Hope you heard from him and that he is ok. Prayers for him and his sub mates!!!
VintageGal- Hey,
I am putting away my decorations as we speak. Lol I know this week is going to be busy so I wanted to get as much done as I could.
Our Superintendent wanted our Gov. to put everyone in a two week virtual just so we could get some control over our numbers we are so in the red it's ridiculous!!. Our Governor said no that he was not going to do that and we are already virtual anyways. Of course that is not true!! Not all of our districts here are virtual.
I see 25 kids a day so I will keep turning it over to God for his protection and if I feel my students and staff are getting sick I will work from home. They did give us that option at the very beginning of this pandemic so I hope it still holds true!!!
That's what I was wishing to that we would go virtual until 4th quarter that would have been so nice!! You continue to be safe out there as well.
My Sailor leaves at the end of the week. It truly has been a blessing having him home!! We all have to get ready for this next adventure!!
Ah I love Williams. Any place up north and I'm there. Lol You guys will love Fossil creek.
Have a wonderful day!!!
Phoenximom- Hope you had a great holiday and weekend!!!

Oh my heart I just got a phone call from my SR and got to talk to him for 45 minutes!!! I made sure no one was waiting for the phone and he said there were still a lot of available phones and no line so I took the whole time!!! It was so good to hear his voice! He is still on track although P days took much longer than usual due to the holidays and he was a little frustrated that he hasn't been able to do much training but starting tomorrow he said they do their swim, I know he's missed being in the water, my little fishy!! His birthday is the end of this month so I got to tell him "Happy Birthday" just a little bit early!! When he got the 5 minute warning he just kept telling me he loves me and will talk to me when he can. Oh how I needed that phone call!!!!
