Mom2Blondies I am so very sorry to hear of this tragic News, I will be sending prayers for your Family.

Lord Jesus, thank you  for the  love That you have for our dearest friend in need. I know that you hate what their illness may be doing to them. I ask, in the name of Jesus, that you would heal her at this time of need, that you would have compassion and bring healing from all sickness. In Your Name I pray, AMEN!

  • Chipmunk

Mom2blondies - My thoughts and prayers are with your family and your SR. My son was also a lifeguard but never had an issue with the floating. I hope that your son is able to do well with it!

  • Shanny

In a small moment of good news...  my sailor’s copy of THE KEEL from BC came today!  Now I can put pictures to the names he talks about from his division!

  • Chipmunk

Yeah Shanny!! - Let everyone know how long it took for your son's KEEL to arrive and share with the new members please what it is. Thanks!

  • mom2blondies

Good news! MIL is out of surgery and should be able to come home next week!

Mail questions???? The address my SR GF father sent me looks like this...

    SR (LAST), (FIRST
Ship XX USS (SHIP NAME) Div XXX
    Great lakes, IL
    60088-XXXX
I put a letter in the mail to her yesterday but now I'm seeing on the RTC website there should also be a street address. Do you think it will still make it to her? I don't think the mail has been picked up yet but I'll have to stake out the mailbox from the window for the mail delivery to get it back because we have locked mailboxes. I still haven't gotten the form letter from my SR so what her dad sent me was all I had.
  • Shanny

So, my son left for bootcamp on July 29th. He only did the initial 2 weeks of ROM. And his PIR was September 24th. When he ordered his BC pictures, he order package A. That package had THE KEEL as part of the package. (It can be purchased separate from the packages as well).   THE KEEL is like a high school yearbook. It has photos from bootcamp. And in the back are the pictures of everyone that was in your SRs division.   It took about 3 1/2 months to arrive. I haven’t looked through it yet because I am waiting for a text back from my sailor telling me to open it. But I knew to expect it as other parents from his division were posting they received them :)

  • Shanny

Mom2blondies:  this will help you find the street address as long as you know the ship number!!  It also gives you the address format if you need that. I always typed mine so I could just reprint my letter if it got lost or the time I forgot To complete the address

  • mom2blondies

So I should try to get it back and add the street address? I put the ship name instead of the street address as that is how her dad sent it to me.

  • Shanny

mom2blondies: my guess is it will get to her because each ship is a separate building. But that is only a guess. If you can get it back to fix you can try   Or just quick put another in the mail and say you wrote another one but may have missed something in the address so not sure if it got to her. My son always put the ship name in his return address when he wrote.   Maybe someone else has direct knowledge

  • partyofseven

Shanny- Yay it took mine 3 months. Glad it finally came!!

mom2blondies- Yay I am so glad she is out of surgery and it was a success. Prayers for a smooth recovery.

As for the letter as long as it has the ship's name on it, it should be ok. But you can always mail another one like Shanny suggested just to make sure.

  • mom2blondies

Oh Shanny, my brain is just not working well today, haha! I could totally just put another one in the mail with the full address. Thank you for having a brain that is working better than mine is today!!

  • warriorprotector

Mom2B: So glad your MIL made out of surgery and can go home next week!  Good news indeed! Hugs and prayers!

Shanny: Oooh, it would be hard not to open.  That will be fun to look through!

Have a great evening everyone!  Peace!

  • Phoenixmom

Yes it should always have a street address, Thank You Shanny.

  • partyofseven

    Phoenixmom- Thank you. :)

  • Phoenixmom

Mom3Blondies, So Very Thankful all is well with your MIL, Praise the Lord!

Party thank you for all your hard work! You know I've been working from home and Now you cant get me to go into the office although I need to and do I just don't want to anymore. wish I had an extra room for an office I would bring my file cabinets and all home. LOL! Have a Good Evening!

Wishing you all a Great evening stay warm!

  • Shanny

The KEEL....  the only thing really personalized to his division are the individual pictures and then a group picture. And there is a signature page where all the recruits signed it.

  • NewMilmom

    Good Afternoon,

Trying to read through in spurts around work...

Mom2Blondies - I will be sending prayers for your Family. And thankful she made through surgery successfully & prayers for strength & healing ahead.

Shanny - Yeah! on the Keel arriving. My sailor PIR'd was in October so we are still awaiting his to arrive.  And I expect he will tell us NOT to open as he will want to be there to do it...oh bother!  but, maybe we will be surprised & allowed to open.

AntiM - shame on them for not realizing not everyone has a vehicle to sit & wait in.  That is just irresponsible on their part & for a medical facility to not be able to accommodate all their patients is horrid.  Hope you feel better soon!

    Stay safe & healthy everyone!!

  • C'sMom

mom2blondies, so thankful your MIL came through surgery well!  Praying for continued healing.

Shanny, I did the math.  My sailors Keel book should come sometime mid-february or early March.  Can't wait!

Remember me saying I think I missed an important piece of my sailor's address at A school?  Well, he got the Christmas/bday package and opened it with us on facetime!  Yay!  Now he still has two cards coming. I guess it's a good way to stretch out Christmas and his birthday for him!  But from bowman, I'll include that PSC number.

Anti M -- I’d be either looking for a new Doctor or calling your insurance company and demanding they cover an urgent care visit since your PCM refuses to provide care for you and this does need to be looked at! It’s shameful that they cannot or will not provide any acomodation for you and others who do not drive!!

mom2blondies -- I KNow you are worried about the outcome of the surgery and the long term prognosis so to distract you from that anxiety here is a funny story for you. Years back my sister had a pool in her back yard and she was UBER Fit. I on the otherhand was decidely NOT. One day we were visiting her and playing in the pool and she decided to challenge me to a water treading contest. I agreed. We were both doing fine for the first 5 minutes or so, in the deep end (10 ft) and in the middle of the pool. After about 7 minutes I noticed she had moved a little shallower and closer to the side. I just kept treading. at 10 minutes she was getting visably tired. I asked if she was ok and she assured me she was good if I was, however I also realized she could touch bottom now if she needed. At 15 minutes she was Gassed!! I kept at it for another 5 minutes just for good measure!! Afterward she wanted to know how I, an overweight, out of shape nearly middle aged woman could out tread her...A physically fit, lean, healthy younger woman? I smiled and replied....”Easy My dear!! Don’t you know Fat Floats in water!!!” I had spent the entire 20 minuted alternating between my arms and legs to keep upright and using air to maintain my “Float” . I expended much less energy by relaxing and just keeping my head just enough out of the water to get air as needed and that kept me up much longer.

Praying that your sailor does well and your MIL recovers fully!!

I know I have missed others.  You are all often on my mind and continually in my prayers.

  • Anti M

Beloved, the Urgent Care is in the same clinic....

  • Shanny

Anti M:  just a thought but does your insurance offer rides?  Mine will allow you to schedule a ride to appointments through them if you do not drive or don't own a vehicle. I live in the middle of no where and it is still a service available. They will also arrange transportation to my appointments that are a 2 hour drive. I am supposed to turn in receipts and mileage on those for reimbursement. Maybe give them a call and see if that is an option.

    Happy Friday Ladies!

Have a busy day on tap with payroll and end of year/beginning of year duties.  Hoping to get my Christmas decorations down (we were painting last weekend so didn't happen) this weekend.  Will also be taking care of a recall on my SR's car tomorrow.  Hope everyone has a productive day!

Shanny:  Love The Keel photo, my dad gave my SR his Keel from 1959.  So interesting, my son should have his by end of April. Can't wait!  One of the SR's in his division has a master's degree in art and has been sketching pictures of everyday life in BC, we're hoping to get copies. Fingers crossed!  Also, the trickle battery is a good idea, my hubby likes to take our SR's car out so it's all good right now.

AntiM: I just can't fathom why there isn't a work around with your doc.  I like Shanny's idea of finding out about transpo through insurance.  Good grief!  Hang in there lady!

    Beloved: So funny!

  • VintageGal

    Good morning ladies,

VintageGal:  CHECK YOUR MESSAGES!!!   You can laugh at me!!!

  • Phoenixmom

Good Morning all, Happy Friday! I will be really busy today not sure if I will be on much. But wishing you all a Great Friday and weekend!.

  • Anti M

Thanks for the suggestions, but LOL, I'm on Tricare, no rides.  It isn't the ride, I can take Lyft, it's the waiting for the test and result before you can enter the clinic.  I'm trying to arrange a tele-appointment, but apparently my doc doesn't like them.  A new doctor brings up the same problems, all the clinics where there are in system Tricare approved doctors have similar policies, wait outside until we can test you.  It's a Catch-22.  I'm not the only one stuck in it, I have a friend who is young and healthy and bikes everywhere, and they can't get a test either.

  • warriorprotector

VintageGal: Ha, Ha, Ha! Love it! 20 days until PIR, but who's counting!  Can't wait.  I just hope I'll be able to go to Pensacola to hug my son's neck before he heads to his first duty station!  Will not have allergies today! :)

WarriorProtector - Hugs to you today!!

Warriorprotector ~ Oh the joys of waiting! It's a wild time that week of PIR! We'll all be anxiously awaiting that "I'm a Sailor" phone call right here with you. :) Oh those allergies!! They hit me randomly even now. We just got word of my Sailor's duty station and thinking of him officially living somewhere else for a long period of time sure brings on the allergies. He's super excited for the next phase of his journey. HOOYAH!

I hope that you'll be able to see him as well! Hopefully very soon things will settle down and restrictions will be lifted. We can only hope for the best!

  • warriorprotector

Right back at you Chipmunk! BNMH! :)

  • NewMilmom

    Good Morning Everyone!

Wearing my RED in abundance today right down to my hot/cold reusable cup. TO REMEMBER EVERYONE DEPLOYED!!!!

Warriorprotector - thing the week of Battle Stations & PIR was the longest week ever.  At that point we were unsure if his division would make it through or if we'd get a call since they Never got 1 prior.  Seems like forever ago but, also like yesterday...weird but true.

VintageGal - my sailor says several have received their duty station assignment but, we are still waiting to hear...he is of course anxious about it as we are. The waiting game is HARD for Momma the most as is the uncertainty of what is coming.  Damn hard enough when they grow up & spread their wings not knowing where they are & who they are with to begin with but, at least with older 2 I still have them around, see them, talk to them etc... but, now with my sailor Nothing is his/our choice it is the Navy's choice...  I am a type A (my middle dd says "control freak") so... I find myself praying more now than ever for strength, patience, & trust.

I haven't taken down Christmas yet. Been horrid horrid week on work front which is taking a lot out of me mentally & stressing me out endlessly.  But it is same for a lot of us during these pandemic times.  I will start taking down this weekend but, I am "solar powered" so once sun starts going down & it is cold I shut down & only want to bake & eat...NOT good combination...hahaha... Haven't seen my horse all week since moved to far away for me to go after work like I had been doing last several years so He is definitely on my 1st priority.  Also, last couple weeks my riding best buddy/friend here before she leaves in about 3 weeks to Idaho...

Don't tell dh or middle dd but Momma ordered herself a new reusable insulated cup that says NavyMom...sparkly one at that...They will FLIP! they just don't get it.   Thank goodness I have y'all who get it & accept me being a bit "over the top" on the emotions & rollercoaster of being a new military Mom.

    Stay Safe & Healthy Everyone!!!

  • Shanny

I am having one of THOSE days...  which VintageGal can attest to..  but wanted to pop in and say hello!!!  Send out BNMHs and Welcome to all our new members!!!

  • belovedbyHim

Anti M-- It's just shameful that they are unwilling to make any accommodations for you and others like you who do not drive.
  • Northwoodsmom

  • Northwoodsmom

Just wanted to show off my New Navy Mom shirt can't seem to center it. It says The few, The Proud, The Emotional, MOM. I felt it was spot on the way I've been feeling anyway.

  • NewMilmom

Good Grief...lost what I was saying...not first time...

AntiM- TriCare needs to get with the program to support their patients it seems...Sooo sorry you are having to deal with that nonsense on their part.  Prayers for you!

Shanny- We all have "those days" !  I feel you on that, BNMH to you.

Northwoodsmom - wow, oh wow!!! Absolutely LOVE the shirt!! Can you share where you found it?  I think there are probably a few of us that Totally relate to the "Emotional MOM".

Keep those phones on & with you at all times.  You do not know how many times at work I'd walk away from work station to freak out as left phone & hurriedly fast walk back to grab it...It is totally frowned on to be seen walking around offices with a cell phone but, think they were all a bit "scared" to date challenge me on it...rofl...  Thinking too I need to "invest' in work attire that I can carry it with me at All times... kidding, not kidding.

BNMH's to everyone.  Prayers we all have a safe & happy weekend ahead.

  • partyofseven

VintageGal, BZ, BZ to your son on his first duty station! It's hard being long distance with your child that has been with you for so long. Not easy! Especially with covid. Eeek.  Thank goodness for all of you.  I know that Battlestations PIR week I'll be jumping at every phone ring! Lol!
